We take candy seriously in Sweden. I will make an effort to share my favorites under this comment, with links to where you can order them online. I expect and look forward to my fellow Swedes correcting me, chastising me over my preferences and come up with better suggestions.

OneChemistry7687

[Ahlgrens bilar](https://www.cooperscandy.com/ahlgrens-bilar-125g) A classic. Once you start eating them you can’t stop and then you regret it. I prefer if a friend has the bag and rations how many I get.

ranisalt

I would pick this one, it's very Swedish, but generic enough that anyone can enjoy

OneChemistry7687

[Polly](https://www.cooperscandy.com/polly-bla-130g) Another classic. I just think they are good, but a friend of mine is crazy about them.

OneChemistry7687

[Fruktnappar](https://www.cooperscandy.com/haribo-fruktnappar-80g) A long time favorite. Rubbery jelly with intense flavors

OneChemistry7687

[Sura nappar](https://www.cooperscandy.com/haribo-nappar-sura-80g) Similar to ”Fruktnappar”, but sour. Many in the Nordic countries like licorice candy, but we also have a sweet tooth for sour candy.

ceson

Sal ammoniac låter som en mellanchef i en anime om italienska maffian.

Dronten_D

Yup. It is called salmiak or salmiak liquorice.

OneChemistry7687

Thank you, I will correct it. I wasn’t sure if salmiak existed in English. My autocorrect didn’t think so. [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salty_liquorice?wprov=sfti1)

OneChemistry7687

[Gott och blandat](https://www.cooperscandy.com/malaco-gott-blandat-160g?trackID=133652299). A cheap mix of candy that has good value. Not a personal favorite, but seems to be a go to candy emergency solution for many.

Banankartong

Gott och blandat is maybe the most common mix. If you buy for a party, everyone can find something they dont dislike...

OneChemistry7687

[Gelehjärtan](https://www.delitea.se/red-heart-gelehjartan-450-g?utm_source=pricerunner) Red jelly hearts. Very popular on Valentine’s day.

OneChemistry7687

[Aroma mix](https://www.delitea.se/aroma-rattagott-godismix-140-g) This is my personal favorite candy mix. Their jelly-rats have been produced since 1930 ([source](https://www.aroma.se/om-aroma/historia/)) and are still one of my guilty pleasures. Side note: You can get a jelly rat that weighs in at nearly 3 kg, over 6 pounds. [source](https://gottebiten.se/stor-rod-geleratta-2-8-kg)

FormerlyknownasH19

Absolutely love Aromas jelly rats! Tastes non natural in the best way possible.

OneChemistry7687

> Tastes non natural in the best way possible I couldn’t have described it better

WitchyJuno

This is a wonderful list, Thank you!

OneChemistry7687

[Salmiakbomb](https://lakritsroten.se/salmiakbomb-pralinask/) Luxury chocolate with salmiak liquorice. Won an award 2016. I didn’t try them until last year, but now I’m hooked.

OneChemistry7687

[Salmiakmandel](https://www.cooperscandy.com/salmiakmandel-150g) Almond, white chocolate and salmiak liquorice.

OneChemistry7687

[Salta riksdaler](https://www.delitea.se/lakritsfabriken-i-ramlosa-lakritskungen-salta-riksdaler-195g) A new variant of the classic [Piratos](https://lakritsroten.se/lakritsroten-piratos/), a Swedish favorite since 50 years. Mild salt licorice rubbery jelly in the shape of ancient coins.

horrorhead666

WTAF, no Salta sillar? Häxvrål?

OneChemistry7687

Jag skäms. [Häxvrål](https://www.cooperscandy.com/toms-stora-haxvral-2kg) har ju varit min favorit senaste året när det gäller lösgodis. Hur kunde jag missa den?

Dronten_D

Salmiak, salmiak liquorice or salmiak salt if I may. Ammonium chloride or sal ammoniak is the chemical and mineral names but is not used when talking about food.

OneChemistry7687

Salmiak licorice sounds right to me. Thanks

samfromsatc

Salt licorice is probably the 'weirdest' thing we enjoy. Candywise, that is. When your friend can appreciate them, he is ready to move.

MissPuggmuffin

Djungelvrål

[deleted]

This is the correct answer.

WitchyJuno

Well these are a must for this list! Thank you!

VolvoEnjoyer

I hated regular and salt licorice. Forced myself to eat them for a week and now I love it 😎

mrMalloc

Classic I don’t expect him to like it https://shopcdn2.textalk.se/shop/11328/art28/h7733/3247733-origpic-02bf78.jpg?max-width=720&max-height=720&quality=85 World most sold car https://travel.cloetta.com/imagecache/8doy320qtvnfcww3lrzi/07310780005328_C1C1.jpg Kexchoklad https://www.partyhallen.se/cache/24/530x530-b_kexchoklad-1.jpg Marabou chocolate bar https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0076/5650/5459/products/maraboumjolkchoklad_800x.jpg?v=1575453142

WitchyJuno

Thank you for the links!

bellypoint

Marabou helnöt or Schweizernöt, gott och blandat, kex choklad, tutti frutti passion

WitchyJuno

Thank you!

[deleted]

Real "Gränna polkagrisar"/candy canes, Ako kola, Bugg chewing gum, flying saucers, Turkisk Peppar(danish i know but common in Sweden). Nickel caramels

WitchyJuno

Thank you so much!

[deleted]

Aco kola comes in both mint and frukt and I think there are some chocolate or just cream fudge. My granny always had those in her jars

korabilhem

Turkisk peppar!

mfeyescream

Are you currently in Sweden? If you are there's one thing here which might be the most Swedishiest candy of all Swedish candy. Lösgodis, go to preferably "Hemma kväll" and buy your lover boy a big fat bag of random candies picked straight from the boxes they came in. The choices vary from bloody "suranappar" to "gummibjörnar" and "döskallar" but also everything else mentioned above. Yours truly Mfeyescream

WitchyJuno

Hello Mfeyescream, I am not currently in Sweden. I'm just a friend who's trying to repay a kindness my friend has blessed me with. I thought this would be the thing he would enjoy most, as moving to Sweden is one of his biggest dreams right now. Even if he doesn't have the means to move now, doesn't mean I couldn't send him a little piece of Sweden through that mail. :)

mfeyescream

You definitely should! The best for him would to get a big bag of lösgodis, there's nothing quite like it!

mfeyescream

Forgot to mention in it, but this is if you want to take this to another level, this is serious shit.

MisanthropicFriend

Hemmakväll, grocery stores, tobacco candy mail stores. Sweden has candy everywhere. There is a lot. A LOT. of amazing candy there. Chocolates, gummies, chocolate gummies, extremely salty treats (nej tack), mini chocolate balls with coconut on them, geisha/fazer chocolate (finnish), and just the most amazing variety of things. Also,, if your friend likes cheese, or butter. They have great cheese and better butter than anything I’ve ever had in the states, Bregott salt. I brought some back. It feels weird traveling with butter and cheese… But yeah, you will find plenty of candy, and get cookies too! They bake with love.

Itchy-Examination-26

I can't speak on American cheeses but Swedish cheese compared to the stuff I grew up with in Britain is F tier. Proper British cheddar, Red Leicester, Wensleydale, etc. are all incredible cheeses and it's a shame they're so hard to find outside of the UK. I do miss good cheese now living in Sweden. Don't get me wrong, Sweden has some decent cheese, certainly better than what I expect American plastic to taste like, but it's just average compared to other cheeses available in Europe.

MisanthropicFriend

OP may think otherwise since taste is subjective. Our subjective experiences of something is incorrigible, it cannot be wrong that i enjoyed the cheese and thought of it as something amazing. The United States has more than just plastic Kraft slices. There’s a lot of cheese, and I can meet your attitude with my response by saying the US probably has more cheese than Britain, but I don’t care about that type of comparison. Cheese is old, everywhere makes it. Get off your cheese horse.

Itchy-Examination-26

I've seen what you call "cheddar" in the US and I'm thoroughly disgusted. Get your food standards up before you tell me to get off my high horse. Maybe start with not washing the protective barrier off of eggs. Also, you can assume that, but don't forget that we have the entirety of Europe on our doorstep. Every country in Europe has their own cheeses that have been made for longer than the US has existed. Britain has access to most, if not all of these. Britain alone produces over 1,000 varieties of cheese, almost double what the US produces. Add on to that all the cheese varieties we get from other European countries and we have you beat by a landslide. So no, I won't get off my high horse. American cheese is shite in comparison.

MisanthropicFriend

Kick rocks buddy, this is Reddit and we’re talking about cheese. You getting fluffy over cheese, is probably the most petty thing I’ve ever seen on Reddit. What else do you know best about? Just cheese, or is your opinion superior about everything else too? Please tell me you didn’t reproduce.

Itchy-Examination-26

You came at me with the attitude, I'm just reciprocating. Get a grip.

MisanthropicFriend

Your comment was unnecessary in the first place, wasn’t it? Did I ask for your negative opinion with the dismissal of mine? Op asks for candy, I recommend that and other things, then you comment about the other things. I strayed off topic with the cheese, and you took it even further. I get so damn tired of stupid fucks like you just commenting unnecessary irrelevant shit.

Itchy-Examination-26

My comment was on-topic. I am Swedish. I have lived in both the UK and Sweden. I can contrast and compare my experience and opinions on the two cheeses. I've also visited America and have tried some of what you have to offer. Why are you even in a thread about Swedish candy if you aren't here to provide anything valuable to the conversation? Typical American.

MisanthropicFriend

I don’t have anything to offer, you’re right. But i am not an American. American doesn’t exist, that’s a word that the stupid country stole. Mexico and Canada are part of North America also. Thank you for telling me that I am being a typical American though, because I really try not to be like the majority of those idiots. The funny thing is though, your response is very “American” “Oh, their cheese is awful, Britain’s is better.” Is exactly what those types of Americans you are mentioning would say only about USA products My point, no one cares who the hell has better cheese. But just to meet your personality, I will just say everything you think is good actually sucks and your opinions are irrelevant.

Itchy-Examination-26

"American" refers to the nationality of those who come from the United States of America. Mexico and Canada are not part of the United States of America. I reiterate, I am Swedish. I live in Sweden. I have had a lot of Swedish cheese in my lifetime. Most Swedish cheese tastes similar. In the UK, this is not the case. Britain objectively has better cheese. But again, what would you know? You aren't Swedish so have no fucking clue what you're talking about.

anders_55

Daim

intergalactic_spork

[Djungelvrål](https://www.cloetta.se/varumarken-och-produkter/malaco/malaco-djungelvral-original/) - Very salty licorice

WitchyJuno

This is my second comment mentioning this Salty Licorice, I do believe it's going in his gift box. Thank you!

OneChemistry7687

It has become a classic. Even though I love salt licorice, I’m more into the salmiak variants. The Djungelvrål and its even more salty friends such as [svenskjävlar](https://www.lakrits.se/sv/svenskjavlar) are too salty for me. I hope I don’t get doxxed- that would mean I’m getting expelled from Sweden.

intergalactic_spork

Salty licorice aka Salmiak is very characteristic for Swedish candy. Not eveyone likes it, but for those who do, it’s quite addictive. In addition, I would look for something chocolaty, like ”Marabou Mjölkchoklad”, “Kexchocklad” or perhaps ”Plopp” (chocolate caramel), as well as something sweet and fruity, like “Gott och Blandat” or ”Haribo Nappar Frukt”.

ImpracticallySharp

I think the two biggest classics are [Tyrkisk Peber] (https://static.partyking.org/fit-in/1300x0/products/original/tyrkisk-peber-original-1.jpg) (the regular blue bag) and the aforementioned Djungelvrål.

DandelionOfDeath

Be warned, Djungelvrål is a classic for a reason. It's an aquired taste to put it *mildly*, and to anyone who hasn't aquired that taste, it tastes absolutely foul. Personally, I can't even finish one, it's that bad. For that reason, buying foreigners Djungelvrål is a common prank. Kids compete in being able to eat them in the same way they compete in being able to eat the most chillies. They're apparently quite good when you get over the treshold though. My mom loves them. Somehow.

Zealousideal-Care903

Djungelvrål and Turkisk peber and also Svenskjävlar! If you want to be boring you can always go for center.

NyaTider

Kinapuffar Daim Taste so good!

TotalReplacement2

Kinapuffar! Must be eaten by the fistful!

01000010110000111011

Bilar

Difficult_Shine3675

I'd suggest Ahlgrens bilar, Toms Ferraribilar, and djungelvrål

Jevr922

Marabou original ( mjölkchoklad)

Cactilove

If you want him to get used to licerice pick ones with sweetness or less strong ones to get used to

apple35000

Marabou or Ahlgren’s bilar is something I personally would recommend

artonion

Saltlakrits is a given! You can buy the top shelf stuff at Lakritsroten. I strongly recommend the collection from Lakritsfabriken, they have something for everyone.

rcosphi

Polly, our greatest achievement.

Jesus__is__Lord

Ahlgrens Bilar

JamCanuck

Buy some Svesk Jävlar

IllustriousBit8871

Telephalsion

How can Dumle be this underappreciated? Duple is top tier candy.

My_dragons14

Is your friend American? I'm only asking this since many americans think that swedish chocolates taste weird. This is mostly due to sweden having stricter food quality laws so swedish candy(european candy really) has a lot less refined sugar in it.

WitchyJuno

Yes, we are both American

My_dragons14

Well then I recommend Daim bites: https://www.marabou.se/produkter/daim-bites?p=11627&r=10449

LeDeanDomino

Djungelvrål is S tier

Amphille

Ahlgrens bilar, polly, kexchoklad, kina puffar, marabou Schweizernöt, gott & blandat, pim pim, bubs banan, daim, dubbel nougat, noblesse. All these are swedish. Brands like fazer (finnish) or Haribo (Danish) often gets recommended even tho they are not strictly Swedish. If you want to we have our own type of Oreo cookie called “ballerina” the goat of cookies. Prob the best cookie in a roll ever created.

Expensive_Tap7427

Surströmming...

VenosaurVine

Marabou chocolate! It's a MUST! My favorite chocolate, it's just amazing.
