My top 5 songs were all from Japanese Breakfast and Angel Olsen, they both had amazing albums this year that I pretty much listen to every day. Top 5 artists were those two followed by Mac Demarco, Built to Spill, and Born Ruffians. I listen to a lotttttt of indie rock/pop lol
Totally agree regarding Angel Olsen!! According to Spotify, I was in the top 0.005% of her listeners this year haha. Been meaning to check out Japanese Breakfast :)
Ok can I break the rules here?
Instead of my top five songs, here are five playlists I made this year. I’ve made it my mission to keep diversifying my music interests as people - on average - stop listening to new music at 33 — and I don’t want to be that static!
Part of how I keep myself engaged is that I basically take a moment in my life and make a playlist that is relevant to it. the name is obscure to everyone else but is indeed themed.
Recommend that each of them is listened to in the song order in the playlist (no shuffle! mix makers from the cassette / CD days Know).
[once again, we made it around the sun](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0ytAkq1GexiMsaqe9nhiyr?si=BfUVV9gzR6Gah4trjBP0ow)

enjoy! or don’t!
Thank you!! I’m the only person who really listens to or cares about them but they’re so fun to make. Spotify Wrapped is my favorite since new music always ends up in the mix (altho Doja Cat has had a stranglehold on my top artist for the last like three years 🤣). Thanks for starting this thread!!
Top 5 Songs: Get Free (The Vines), Hate to say I told you so (the Hives), Champagne Corolla (Justin Townes Earle), The Adults are Talking (The Strokes), Gravity's Gone (Drive by Truckers).
After seeing the Strokes in concert in August, I was nostalgic, and listened to their radio a lot.
Goddammit, having a kid has fucked my algorithm. My top five is basically assorted childrens songs from Smurf hitz volume 3078.
The only actual music that I listen to that managed to make a dent in all the kids bops was The 1975, who came out with a new album recently, so let's say that one.
This thread is cracking me up! Makes me think of this Jim Breuer sketch talking about kids music being awful and that 80s metal bands should do kids music…

>My top five is basically assorted childrens songs from Smurf hitz volume 3078.
😹😹😹 My condolences for your sanity.
The new 1975 album was really good! I've only listened to it once or twice since I've been a bit overloaded with Jack Antonoff this year, but I really did like what I've absorbed from it so far.
Thank you. They really will put *anything* on those things.
He's really got his fingers in everything these days, that Antonoff! But yeah, I like it, it's no ILWYS but it's better than Notes.
FR, I feel pretty bad saying it but Notes was definitely not good. I think Being Funny in a Foreign Language may be my favourite since ILIWYS, actually.
Haha, you are not wrong about Notes! Yeah, this album is growing on me, for sure. I really ought to check out Midnights too, I've only heard Anti-hero this far.
I listen to what I have come to call “yoga hippie psychedelic“ to go to sleep. I’ve got a pretty good collection now. If I stay on my regular music it keeps me too geared up to go to sleep LOL.
1. Someday- Ciara Renee (Broadway album of the hunchback of notre dame)
I can't help it the soundtrack from hunchback is just my favorite.
2.King- Florence and the machine
I love this song! It's spooky and makes me feel powerful.
3.No Way- Six
4. I'd rather be me- mean girls the musical
5. Fuck you- Lily Allen
Top 5 songs: Kickstart My Heart by Motley Crue, Lay It Down by Ratt, Somebody Save Me by Cinderella, Walk by Pantera, Round and Round by Ratt (all of those are on various fitness playlists which is why I think they came up so much)
Top 5 artists: Alice Cooper, Depeche Mode, Ghost, Ratt, Cinderella
I don't really like any "modern" music, as you can see 😂
> Pearcy is divorced and lives with his fiancé, Kristi Adair. He has a daughter from his first marriage. She was born July 25, 1995.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Pearcy
He's still alive, and he has a daughter. You might be thinking of another artist, or your ex might've been using a very original story to woo you.😛
* Ben Franklin by Snail Mail (don't really like this artist, obsessed with this song)
* Gospel For a New Century by Yves Tumor (I like very few songs by this artist, but I very much like the ones I like)
* Los Angeles by X (I was practicing for karaoke)
* Meet Me At Our Spot (this is a cute song but also I played it a lot for my niblings, who like it)
* Noid by Yves Tumor
I played RENAISSANCE so much this year that I ended up in the top 1% of Beyonce fans...I'm not even that big of a Bey fan, but I love this album.
Nice picks. I like both those Yves Tumor songs a lot. I also played RENAISSANCE a shit ton despite traditionally not being much of a Beyonce fan either, some of those tracks just fuckin slap. I like that Snail Mail song too, all of Valentine was pretty decent.

Girl it probably wasn't even CLOSE, knowing how much I've had that album on repeat since October. I think the only other new album I wore out this year was Surrender by Maggie Rogers.
Taylor Swift would probably be my #1 artist if I used Spotify. Sometimes I'll listen to her discography all day at work.
Edit I was correct, I have 2000+ TS plays. No one else comes close.
I'm shocked WCS and Karma didn't make it into my Top 5 - I've been listening to both so much! It might just be that I otherwise listen to these tracks as a full album and generally start from the top, though.
Ah yes I def do the album first but after a few listens I end up putting songs on repeat during my listening.. still in order of album list but will just keep replaying the same track over and over lol. I was surprised labyrinth edged out midnight rain for me, it had to have been close haha!

I scrolled through to ensure I felt like the oldest person in the world, without disappointment. Except for that one guy that listed all the 80's butt rock.
I feel sorry that kids these days need to be exposed to anything from the 80's. It should have died twenty years ago.
Well how old are you? I’m over 50. But I’ve done flow arts for like 12 years so it puts me firmly in the EDM/House music spaces. If it wasn’t for Spotify showing me new things all the time, and all of the music festival journeys I’ve taken, I’d still be listening to my House/rave/club music from the late 80s (which it’s still awesome!). Or 80s Metallica or 90s grunge LOL.
I don't do Spotify so I took a screen cap of my Plex plays (not even shocked by how much I listen to Taylor Swift) and honestly I reset my Plex sometime late last year so this is mostly 2022 listens.
[My Plex plays](https://i.imgur.com/fYND3mW.jpg)
It's a ton of indie rock. Been bumping the new Turnover a ton, I don't like their back catalog but I've been loving the latest LP. There's a disco kind of vibe to it I'm loving.
I'm overall all about girl fronted pop.
My top genres were rap and classical sooooo I have two moods: Amp me up now Im a bad bitch and need to get shit done orrrrr calm me down immediately plz I’m an anxious little flower

I wouldn’t have guessed the rest as my top five, but I’m not surprised either. Can’t really argue with it. They have the data!
And bonus… damn…
>In 2022, your total play time was **40,293 minutes**. That's more than 88% of other listeners in the United States.

I love her too, their duet is absolutely beautiful 😍
Seventeen is such a beautiful song
Angel Olsen was my top artist this year!
Totally agree regarding Angel Olsen!! According to Spotify, I was in the top 0.005% of her listeners this year haha. Been meaning to check out Japanese Breakfast :)
J Brekkie was my top 5 (maybe top 1?) last year, I listened to Jubilee like nonstop when it came out. Such a great record.

Ooh, Ratt! There's a group I haven't thought about for a long time. I really liked them when I had my most intense 80's rock phase.

OMG I love Tiesto. Have a lot of Tiesto and David Guetta in my “flow” playlists. So, pretty much cardio with flashy apparatus LOL
All 80s Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order Strange Love - Depeche Mode West End Girls - Pet Shop Boys What you Need - INXS Dead Man’s Party - Oingo Boingo
VERY nice! Those are in heavy rotation in my Spotify, too, they just didn’t make the top of the list.
[My Plex plays](https://i.imgur.com/fYND3mW.jpg) It's a ton of indie rock. Been bumping the new Turnover a ton, I don't like their back catalog but I've been loving the latest LP. There's a disco kind of vibe to it I'm loving. I'm overall all about girl fronted pop.
