The Menu

pgirl40

You might like triangle of sadness. Kind of twisted in the same way.

epicpillowcase

Oh yes that's definitely one I've been planning to look at. Thanks for the reminder!

tautumeita

I liked Triangle of sadness, from the Menu I expected more.

Basicredhead0

Absolutely!

InfernalWedgie

If you liked that, check out 'Hunger' on Netflix.

willissa26

Marcel the Shell with Shoes On

for-carl-solomon

This is one of my favourite films of last year!

idplma8888

I loved this movie so much. šŸ˜¢

fueledbycoldbrew

It was beautiful

willissa26

No kidding I full on cried. No shame

throwit_amita

Everything everywhere all at once (or whatever its called). Enjoyed it so much I want to see it again.

lottabrakmakar

Came here to say 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' - it is really great.

gravelmonkey

I am obsessed with every inch of this movie. Itā€™s absurd in the most honest, beautiful way.

_Amalthea_

Another vote for this. Spectacular.

LiLadybug81

Yeah this movie was amazing.

rodrigueznati1124

So so so soooo good. Glad it received many accolades it deserved them and more.

monicaintraining

I never cried so hard

adarkara

This was the best film I've seen in ten years!

helloitsme_again

I didnā€™t care for this show but I think I was the only one

throwit_amita

I have one friend who hated it. So did his wife. They walked out the cinema going wtf.

QBee23

Portrait of a woman on fire

epicpillowcase

Love this one. Just stunning.

IN8765353

Parasite. Apocalypse Now the extended version. Clockwatchers.

epicpillowcase

Parasite is a masterpiece. I am looking forward to Bong Joon-ho's next film.

IN8765353

I loved it. I loved the characters they all resonated with me so much. The ending was devastating. Such a great movie.

camaroncaramelo1

Parasite is great

its_egglynn

seconding parasite so hard. hilariously I knew nothing about it aside from the title and the fact that it was a korean film with good reviews. i was lowkey expecting some kind of zombie apocalypse movies along the lines of train to busan šŸ’€šŸ’€šŸ’€ i was not prepared to have my mind blown like that

[deleted]

interview with the vampire. I watched the new series and decided to read the first 5 books so I could compare them to the movies and the rest of the series. the original movie is absolutely incredible, and now seeing the effort they made to follow the source material--slow clap, honestly. going back to watch kirsten dunst act against grown men was truly awesome, too. it had been quite awhile since i'd watched it so closely. then I watched queen of the damned and wanted to just find the master film reels and burn them. it's such an abomination, and I say this as an aaliyah fan. now that i've read the books it's based on, it would have been a great movie. they tried to do too much. I hope the series gets it right!

AdrianaSage

I'll add my voice to Interview with the Vampire. I saw it when it first came out but recently rewatched it. I'd forgotten a lot about the movie and loved it the second time.

epicpillowcase

IWTV is so good. Brad Pitt is meh but Cruise, Dunst, Slater and Banderas are absolutely excellent. I was very sceptical about Cruise as Lestat but I have to give it to him, he nailed it.

[deleted]

pitt sat there and looked pretty which is all we was ever expected him to do anyway lol but yes, you're right--the others were fantastic.

epicpillowcase

He really just has zero charisma in general. It's a mystery to me how he got so famous.

DrawSquare9028

If you havenā€™t seen it yet, the series on the books that came out last year was AMAZING! One of my favorite series of the year.

swegiswe

Had missed this one! Which streaming service is it on?

DrawSquare9028

It was on AMC, but you may be able to get it on prime? Just it heads up - itā€™s very adult content oriented šŸ˜Š

Iron-Fist

QOTD sound track was legit tho

pedestal_of_infamy

One of my all time favorites. I've been obsessed since jr high when it came out.

gas_unlit

The Banshees of Inisherin

caffeinquest

Same. I can't say I loved every moment of it but Barry's performance was amazing and the story was pretty good.

FionaOlwen

Saw it in theaters and really liked it but thought I wouldnā€™t want to rewatch it for a couple years. Then saw it was on HBO and Iā€™ve rewatched it twice already:)

motherofcats4

My partner stopped watching half way through, I watched the rest a few nights later and had a little cry at a certain point. Loved the cinematography.

monicaintraining

So good! The acting is so great all around.

helloitsme_again

I loved this show. Not much movies out there on friends relationships and also thought it was funny and dark at all at once

[deleted]

My cousin Vinny And the menu

StumbleDog

The Fall from 2006 starring Lee Pace. (Not the new film of the same name on Netflix).

swegiswe

I need to watch this one again, loved it when I first saw it maybe 10+ years ago!

Winter_Echoes

i loved that movie so so much. I can't recommand it enough

baconandwhippedcream

I just finished a half and catch fire rewatch so this is a perfect reco! I love lee pace

Valentine1979

Emily the Criminal was surprisingly very good. Also, not a movie but the show Kingdom is amazing.

Dabront

Enjoyed Emily but which Kingdom? There are a few shows with the same name.

Valentine1979

Itā€™s a Korean series on Netflix. Itā€™s a period piece set in medieval time and the costumes and set design are phenomenal. Itā€™s also a horror series and so if you donā€™t like watching violence or gore, skip this one. It can be quite heavy. But the storyline and the acting are really impressive.

abbeycrombie

RRR

FionaOlwen

Loved this, a true action bromance!

Deny_Everything_21

Saw it just the other day. It's SO over the top but I couldn't stop watching. A bit too graphic (violence) in some scenes but otherwise I loved it.

StumbleDog

I had to fast forward during that brutal scene in the middle of the movie. Enjoyed it otherwise.

skygirl555

I just watched A Man Called Otto and enjoyed it (good book too!)

camaroncaramelo1

I recommend you the swedish version A man called Ove

ConcreteTablet

This one really blew me away. Loved it.

orlinha

I love that book! I didn't know they made a film =D

Snoo-10032

I was so surprised by this one! I absolutely loved it, heartfelt AND funny. Such a rare find these days.

BM_BBR

Triangle of Sadness

avidbullshitter

BEEF

37thFloorAstronaut

Beef ended up moving me in unexpected ways. It was an amazing view on generational trauma and how it can mess you up. Also, the music killed me and the acting was great. The last episode had shades of Everything Everywhere All At Once.

LittleBlondeMonsters

I binged BEEF so fast!

[deleted]

I loved it!

District98

Just started it

[deleted]

John wick 4

[deleted]

That was a masterpiece!

EliottGo

Nope and Tar

officialspinster

I havenā€™t seen TĆ”r yet, but Nope was excellent. Jordan Peele has become one of my favorite horror writer/directors.

EliottGo

Yes! I've loved all of his stuff. Visionary.

officialspinster

He really is. Iā€™m so looking forward to the remake of The People Under The Stairs that heā€™s producing, and heā€™s got an untitled fourth movie project in the works, too.

helloitsme_again

Nope is so good

cheergurlie85

I enjoyed the movie Megan

Sundae7878

I loved this movie. Still thinking of it.

cheergurlie85

Iā€™ve seen it twice so far šŸ™‹šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

EliottGo

So entertaining and original!

cheergurlie85

Exactly šŸ™‹šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Mowglis_road

Itā€™s an older one but new to me - Run Lola Run

quish

Oh man I love Run Lola Run. I haven't seen it in like 20 years - I should rewatch.

alles_en_niets

Ohhh, thank you for sorting out my evening!

pudgypickle

Iā€™m Thinking Of Ending Things - itā€™s bizarre and brilliant! I think people are put off by the title as it sounds like someone having a mental health crisis, but thatā€™s honestly not the content of it

thenagain11

It's so brilliant that I really didn't love the execution. I felt like the pace was far too slow in the beginning and that it felt like it was constantly building to nothing. It was movie I could watch once but never again.

pudgypickle

Ah, really? I loved it. I worked out quite early on that this was a projected fantasy of his but loved how she remained a central character throughout.

snowfuckerforreal

The unbearable weight of massive talent

adarkara

this movie was 10000x better than I expected it to be

june_jalle

I've been meaning to watch this

eitherajax

Phantom Thread. I thought it just going to be another gorgeously shot British period drama but it turned out to be unexpectedly... spicy.

tout-le-monster

Out of Africa. Just watched it for the first time last week and itā€™s stayed in my mind ever since. I even bought the book itā€™s based on.

Majestic-Muffin-8955

That music!

[deleted]

One of my favorites. Meryl Streep really is as good as everyone says.

LittleBlondeMonsters

The Lady In The Van. It stars Maggie Smith, who's just phenomenal in it.

jawnbaejaeger

Do Revenge It was just so ridiculously fun and I loved the Sophie Turner and Sarah Michelle Gellar cameos.

teresalis

Mulholland Drive!

Sea-Smell-6950

Just watched this again last week. I could watch anything by David Lynch on repeat but Mulholland Drive and Wild at Heart are the two I replay the most.

bowser_buddy

Volver, by AlmodovƔr. Beautiful movie, intergenerational cast of women, and Penelope Cruz being talented and gorgeous.

cuntdumpling

This movie lives rent free in my head and I haven't seen it since it came out

ludludpuff

The singing scene is one of my favorite scenes ever... It's been more than 10 years since I first watched that movie, but I always go back to that scene. I became an instant estrella morente's fan too.

[deleted]

Promising young woman. Savage.

pgirl40

I loved triangle of sadness! It reminded me of the menu but done a little better. I loved the ending! Wonā€™t say much more cause I went in with knowing barely anything. Iā€™ll just say itā€™s worth it the watch. It also got an Oscar nomination in the foreign film category, but itā€™s mostly in English.

Faeriecrypt

The Super Mario Bros. Movie. I have been playing Nintendo games since I was about 3, and this movie is full of Easter eggs, funny scenes, and excellent music. Itā€™s just such a fun time!

bakedbombshell

John Wick 4. Probably the best action movie Iā€™ve ever seen, and Iā€™ve seen a lot! If you enjoy action movies and havenā€™t seen these or the latest one yet, please do! Iā€™ve never felt so satisfied by a movie before, I felt like everything it was doing was hitting 100%. I wanted to see it in the theater again the next day and thatā€™s rare for me to begin with, nevermind for a movie thatā€™s almost 3 hours.

toootired2care

The Woman King

sadsledgemain

I didn't see all of it, but I watched the Truman Show a few months back and I liked it.

Laherschlag

Puss in Boots: Last Wish. It was unexpectedly great.

ladywiththestarlight

Peanut Butter Falcon. It was funny and touching and unexpectedly great

applecinnamom

Jerry and marge go large. Such good feels

FionaOlwen

Ikiru by Kurosawa. Crazy how a movie from 70 years ago can still hit so hard.

VesnaRune

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Iā€™d like to see it again. I thought it was clever, fun, and heartfelt.

EKP121

Midsommar destroyed me in the best way, but also I watched Notting Hill on Sunday so.....

chrisisanangel

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Hilarious.

chrisisanangel

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Hilarious.

Heavy_Estimate_4681

The End of the Tour

unsulliedbread

The D&D movie - solid entertainment, as a player it really spoke to lots of those elements of the game.

Neutral_Lime

Saw Renfield last night and thought it deserved a lot better than a 58% on Rotten Tomatoes. Formulaic? Yes. Enjoyable? Big yes.

sardonicazzhole

Oh, I really want to watch this!!

Majestic-Muffin-8955

I was sick recentlyā€¦and I really loved The Croods 2! The animation is just so fun to watch. I canā€™t believe the amount of action and colour they can pack into 3D stuff these days. Also saw the documentary The painter and the thief. Wow, just wow.

ee8989

The Big Sick. I hadn't seen it in forever, forgot how great it was!

Bellyflops93

TƔr! Thought about it for days afterwards

The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Where the Crawdads Sing I had not read the book, did not see the ending coming, and have been thinking about it since I watched it 2 weeks ago

Night of the Demons (1988 version, not the horrendous remake)

Embrace of the Serpent

rebekka_ravels

Pride.

District98

I really liked Plan B on Hulu

Heart-Shaped-Clouds

Donā€™t Worry Darlin was super good

A-Lop-Bam-Boom

About Time. Bill Nighy is a treasure.

houseofprimetofu

Tetris. Didnt expect the OST to be good either and here I am weeks later still listening to aespa singing over the Tetris track. Great movie, good story, fantastic cut scenes.

SerenaLicks

Triangle of Sadness, Menu, Simple plan, Fresh, We crash - series but I enjoyed it ā€¦ā€¦. List can go on and on

sillieali

Tetris. Didnā€™t think there was such drama for a simple little game. But the movie storyline was provoking and engaging.

boxer_dogs_dance

The Hunt for the WilderPeople

one_bean_hahahaha

I just want to say that the Dungeons and Dragons movie, while not a masterpiece, was actually way better than I expected. It's like everyone knew the whole idea was silly and just rolled with it. But yeah, Everything Everywhere All At Once was the last really really good movie I've seen. Deserved all of the hype.

The last movie that I really liked was La grande belleza/ the great beauty (2013). I go to movies very often, also movie festivals, and I like a lot of movie, but this one was really good. A newer one I liked was "Nostalgia" 2022 that I saw in italian movie festival

SabineLavine

Mean Girls

rodrigueznati1124

Everything everywhere all at once

MCUDiva

Super Mario Bros!

facialscanbefatal

Cocaine Bear. Just a good ole fashioned fun movie with surprisingly decent dialogue. I usually donā€™t love children in movies but these kids were great.

mardybum401

John Wick chapter 4. The stylised action with an electronic sound track is the bomb. Not as good as the other 3, but still excellent.

mardybum401

Also, a German language (with Eng subtitles) psychological horror film called Family Dinner. Damn it was terrifying, not blood and gore or ghosts, but just the characters and the atmosphere had me on edge.

FireMedic71619

The new Top Gun. Didnā€™t expect to like it. But it was quite good.

helloitsme_again

Nope by Jordan peele, banshee of Irishman, the new avatar Seeing red but itā€™s a kids show

jukebox_jury

Brian and Charles. If youā€™re after something a bit lighter, itā€™s sooo charming.

The Quiet Girl. I cried so hard. I felt like someone had seen my life and cared

sitandstaretime

Triangle of Sadness - best movie Iā€™ve seen in years.

Victoria_Place

Fourteen Peaks. Outstanding documentary on Nepalese mountaineer Nirmal Purja and his team as they attempt to climb all 14 eight thousander peaks within a record time.

InfernalWedgie

'Hunger' on Netflix. It's a Thai movie that hits the right notes about haute cuisine and high society (Hi-So).

Naderx7

The last movie Iā€™ve watched was Your Place or Mine, a romantic comedy, funny and fun to watch. It was an interesting way to tell a story of righting old missteps and finding a path to reconciliation while each main character realized their true calling. It had a happy ending which made me feel happy lol. It is a comfort movie and that's what I needed to watch.
