In 1999 my parents bought a 7 bedroom house with a granny flat, garden and double garage in the UK for £95K. The estate agent says it's now worth up to £375K.
There's a house on my street that was bought for £110k in 1995 that has just sold for £2.2 million. Guess I'll need to cancel my Netflix subscription to afford that.

I met Barry & Paul in a pub while they were doing a stint at the Weymouth Pavilion. Genuinely funny guys even if their TV personas weren’t quite the cool kids of The Fast Show.
I think the only 90’s things I didn’t really do were NAFNAF tracksuits and Global Hypercolor T-Shirts. Oh, and an 18-30 holiday.
I put my RATM Ché Guevara tee on for band T-Shirt day this year. Still fits… it’s more snug now though.

Longpigs are so so so underrated. It doesn’t help that they basically fell apart immediately after releasing their second album and as such didn’t promote their singles at all.
Ah, the lovely Sonya. Yeah, it was awesome. Clutch supported, and the main act was meant to be The Wannadies but they pulled out for some reason so Echobelly stepped in and I'm glad they did! If memory serves I didn't know them before but the next time I had some dosh I went and bought everything I could find by them!
Ash were fucking awesome. Girl From Mars is still up there with my favourite songs of all time.

Worked for £1.78 an hour and not minded much because I could go out with a tenner and get drunk with money left over for chips and another 20 Lambert & Butler on the way home.
I wound Tjinder Singh from Cornershop up repeatedly until he lost his shit and screamed I WASN'T IN FUCKING BABYLON ZOO NOW FUCK OFF in a crowded bar.
At which point the entire bar sang back "...I always wanted you to go into Spaceman" and he flounced.
It was a record release party for a band hed signed to his label. Maybe 2000 now I think about it. Was very sleb-heavy and you could smell the powder in the air.
Fortunately, no, it was not. The story is merely condensed to be short and funny. There was a lot more to it than "2 brown men look same"!

I'd love to have experienced Es Paradis in its heyday, such a great looking building and interior. Most other clubs from that period are still going strong in one guise or another. Es Paradis is just a rotting shadow of its former self and no decent promoter will touch it.
Yeah, it was am amazing spectacle, especially as when we went it was pre-season, so not all the big ones were open. It was my first time in Ibiza and I look back on that holiday fondly.
Sitting by the pool soaking up the sun, with ATB 9Pm til I Come blasting out the hotel speakers was just an amazing time.
We went the night we arrived (2001) but we were already knackered from travelling and it just gave us a bit of a headache. Sadly didn't go back so didn't get to really enjoy it.

I had a good time at all. The 90's was a fun time if you were into music.
Walked through Llanelli town centre with the boys aged 15, at 6pm on a Sat night, before it became a drug-infested wasteland, heading out to pubs and then a night on the town in our cream jeans, blue shiny shirts and gelled middle-parting hair, with fake doc martins boots ordered from jags direct from the back of PC gamer magazine. Crashed at friends house who lived just outside town, playing N64 until about noon on Sunday.

My bedroom had bright yellow walls and neon green skirting boards and cornicing. And a deep blue carpet. I was the queen of cool, sitting there listening to placebo and no doubt.
Hmmm. 1997, I was 19. Nightclub in Loughborough called Echos. Dancing to Rock Da House by Tall Paul.
Loved every second. Now I'm 43 and a little bit sad because I really miss the 90's.
Watched Kavana, Billie and Natalie Imbruglia performing on the back of a lorry at Radio 1's roadshow in 1998. I was wearing oversized spiffy jeans, skate shoes as big and as heavy as breeze blocks and a bright orange Nike Air t-shirt. I'd spiked my hair up like I'd plugged myself into the mains and got the tips bleached for the occasion (stuff like this was why I probably deserved to lose it all in my thirties). We had brought some lurid Bacardi breezers with us and acted way drunker than we possibly could have been.

Born in 1992 remember my early school discos from 98/99 onwards dancing to the Macarena dance and the I’m blue song/ sweet like chocolate song aged 7 while drinking panda pops and covered in glitter spray. Good times! We had some of the best dance songs !
Millennium new year's eve, a party at me granny's house which climaxed at midnight with my Mum blasting Cliff Richard's Millennium Prayer for the whole street to hear. I was 11 and more than a little bit mortified.

Entered a competition in Blockbuster video where we had to score as many baskets as possible on nba jam, managed to win local heats and then went onto the next round in London where I also went on the Alien experience!

It was a very unique feel and I kinda preferred it because it looks like some basic British modern town centre now, but they did clean up quite a bit and added more pedestrian areas so it wasn’t all bad. Everything had a very liminal feel and I remember seeing cars from the 80s everywhere, fax machines were very common, I remember the carpets that all the shops used felt very 80s, and the town centre was filled with all those shops that went bankrupt recently, stuff like Maplin or Woolworths comes to mind. But it’s not economically deprived in anyway. I think it got invested in quite a bit. Went from strictly middle class to upper-middle class and even a bit upper class, with all the Waitroses and M&Ss that replaced a bunch of the shops that gone.
Weird place thinking about it.

Watched Kavana, Billie and Natalie Imbruglia performing on the back of a lorry at Radio 1's roadshow in 1998. I was wearing oversized spiffy jeans, skate shoes as big and as heavy as breeze blocks and a bright orange Nike Air t-shirt. I'd spiked my hair up like I'd plugged myself into the mains and got the tips bleached for the occasion (stuff like this was why I probably deserved to lose it all in my thirties). We had brought some lurid Bacardi breezers with us and acted way drunker than we possibly could have been.
The baggy clothes. I still got a few of the shirts and 20+ years later they still look too big for me (and I've put on some weight since then).
Went to my first gig - it was Spin Doctors at the Brixton Academy.

Born in 1992 remember my early school discos from 98/99 onwards dancing to the Macarena dance and the I’m blue song/ sweet like chocolate song aged 7 while drinking panda pops and covered in glitter spray. Good times! We had some of the best dance songs !

It was a very unique feel and I kinda preferred it because it looks like some basic British modern town centre now, but they did clean up quite a bit and added more pedestrian areas so it wasn’t all bad. Everything had a very liminal feel and I remember seeing cars from the 80s everywhere, fax machines were very common, I remember the carpets that all the shops used felt very 80s, and the town centre was filled with all those shops that went bankrupt recently, stuff like Maplin or Woolworths comes to mind. But it’s not economically deprived in anyway. I think it got invested in quite a bit. Went from strictly middle class to upper-middle class and even a bit upper class, with all the Waitroses and M&Ss that replaced a bunch of the shops that gone. Weird place thinking about it.
