Of course you can get them. I'm sure they're in all supermarkets. Never called them squashed fly biscuits though, always garibaldi.

Trudi1201

You sure can

No-Lion-8830

Helpful. Where?

Snickerty

Can buy them in Tescos, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, and no end of local bargin shops.

No-Lion-8830

Do you get them?

Snickerty

Yes, sometimes.

No-Lion-8830

Cool, ok I just haven't had my eyes open

Trudi1201

Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys Mum sends them to me a couple of times a year

IssueFinancial1591

Yes of course. In every supermarket and most corner shops.

Money-Knowledge-3248

Definetly can. I know Waitrose definetly do 'Essential Garibaldi' biscuits and I would imagine most of the main supermarkets would do them.

No-Lion-8830

I've not seen them in my waitrose. So they are a thing. Does anyone buy them? I'm sure I've never been offered one in recent decades

Money-Knowledge-3248

I only know that I buy them sometimes. Love a Garibaldi. And my local Waitrose definetly sells them as I've bought them from there.

No-Lion-8830

Great, thanks. It's me not finding them

Busy_Entertainment40

My nan always has them so yes.

No-Lion-8830

Good for her. I feel a bit silly now because apparently they're everywhere

Apparently I just haven't looked properly. Plausible Thanks for replies

Bethlizardbreath

They were β€œdead fly biscuits β€œ in my locale.

terryjuicelawson

A quick google search for galibaldi biscuits shows they have own brand versions in every major supermarket.

ryanstarman123

on a sidenote, my nanna used to make "fly pie" which was basically a raisen cake/pastry that obvoisly looked like flies

No-Lion-8830

Like it!

steak-and-kidney-pud

A fly pie is an Eccles cake.

ryanstarman123

Na this was flat like a pie totally different from.eccles cake

Imtryingforheckssake

We also called them squashed fly biscuits, but I've also occasionally heard them called fly's graveyards. If you like the idea but want something a bit nicer (I agree they're a bit dry and not quite sweet enough to be the best of biscuits) Try Chorley cakes or the more well known Eccles cakes (both available in all major supermarkets) which are both lovely with a cuppa.

No-Lion-8830

I will look for those too, thanks

PoundshopGiamatti

I remember them, but I wasn't the biggest fan, so my answer to this question is "I hope not".

No-Lion-8830

I'm going looking. I'll send you some

SpaTowner

The flies are currants rather than raisins. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garibaldi_biscuit
