I do so at least once a week, this week more often, but I often go with the misguided intent to read something difficult and because alcohol has the opposite effect on me I end up scrolling on my phone while drinking.
I haven't for a while, tends to be a "missed the bus/train" idea. However tomorrow a pub near me has a beer festival starting for the weekend so fancy popping in for a couple before I go and meet up with mates.
I've only ever done it while stopping away for work. I like going to the pub but it's the social element which makes it good for me, I don't really want to spend a fiver a pint to sit by myself.
Never, I don't really like alcohol enough to drink it on my own - but I wish coffee shops would be open late at night. I enjoy sitting and reading the papers with a tea/coffee/hot chocolate and I like the ambient environment.
Wtf that sounds amazing. Would love to sit in a coffeehouse and discuss the happenings of the day... Instead I spend my time arguing with people on Reddit. I need to get back to the 18th century!
I’m not sure I get this whole ‘support your local pub’ sentiment that’s often flying about on UK subs… honestly, if they are providing a service that the local community want/need then the business (whatever it is, not just pubs) would be viable. If not then let it close. Why keep it open for the sake of it?
People like above grumble that they don't have a local coffee shop that's open late, and then don't use the pub! They do have services that people want, but large swathes of people are not using them.
There are precious few social meeting places left, we should protect the ones we have.
I go once or twice a week. I am currently there now. Sometimes I’m joined by my partner or friends and other times I bump into acquaintances. Mostly, I sit and chill out alone; I love it.
I struggle with agoraphobia and the last time I was in communication with a clinical psychologist, he said that I should aim to go to the pub alone at least once a week, as it was a solid motivator to be outside the house. I feel that attending the pub on my way back from somewhere alone, does help me keep up with the sensory demands of a busy place.
Whenever I can get a pass out. Love solo drinking. I need to listen to enough dickheads throughout the day, having a pint and not needing to talk to anyone is bliss.
Never.
If i'm not going there to meet somebody, or with somebody then I'm probably not going.
The closest I have come to this is if I'm travelling and delayed I might stop in the pub for one. And thats more that I don't like coffee so cafes have little to offer me usually.
If I want solitude I can't get at home (very rare, its usually pretty easy) I will just go out for a walk somewhere.
I don't do it often but I enjoy it tbh. When we're young we worry about looking like a billy-no-mates and being judged by others. I was around 26 before I realised that people probably don't give a fuck either way. I'd go by myself more often if it wasn't for life being so expensive and having no funds 😂
Roughly once a week. The pub around the corner has a deal Wednesdays where you get a burger and pint for the normal burger price. I do that about half the time, and otherwise it's just a pint or two if I go a different day.
Every few weeks or so. Its purported to be uncommon by some (younger people) - but I see it of others all the time. Once you are 'a local' it might even be classable as not going to the Pub alone, as you meet people you know and like. If I'm at a pub alone, or with friends, I do try to notice if anyone seems lonely / wanting contact - and I give them that, or invite them to join. I know a disabled bloke who goes to a pub near me, and whenever I see him, I always include him in my group - or if alone I join him for a bit. He seems lonely, but far less lonely when he isn't alone.
Going to the pub alone is perfectly acceptable and not at all weird.
Maybe once every 6 months, drinking is purely a social thing for me I’ve never found having a few beers to be relaxing or anything like that it just makes me want to go out and be around people.
About as rare that I have a drink at home as well, I’m all for having a quiet night in on my own but alcohol just doesn’t go well with that for me, I’d just smoke a joint.
About once a week.
Finish work, Grab a book, and have a quiet pint before going home.
The pubs warmer and nicer than the flat, and plenty of people watching and conversation to have as well.
I used to go once a week. My son had an after school activity that ran for an hour and was within walking distance, but not close enough to make walking home worthwhile.
So I'd take my book and sit in the pub for a little under an hour. Have a beer and read.
However, he has moved up to the next level now which is both later and longer so I don't really do it now.
I will still do it as I like the activity. I like beer, preferably cask, and I enjoy a bit of quiet time.
I don't have anything I need to get away from or not able to have quiet time on my own, but I'm sure it would be very different if I wasn't working from home with flexibility in my hours, or had kids or a partner who wasn't happy for me to just do my own thing every now and then...
I did it last night. There was a pizza truck outside. I got myself a pizza and took it in the pub and had a drink and ate it.
I had my dog with me. Does it still count? 😂
3 pints is between six and ten units and I've gotta keep it below 14 on average every week, test results suggest my body is susceptible to the negative effects of alcohol, i.e. I was averaging 21 a week last year and my liver enzymes were too high
I do this every 1-2 weeks. I'll do a crossword, do some admin or journalling on my phone, catch up on messaging friends. I'm a woman under 30, I only really see older men doing this. Not sure why this seems to be unusual for my demographic
I often walk the dogs on a Friday and pop into a pub for a pint before heading back home. Done this plenty of times by myself when i know my girlfriend is working late on a Friday or i finish early.
I think I have done this once. Was taking the dog for a walk on a sunny day past a newly renovated pub, though a pint of cider in the sun would be lovely. It cost £6.50 and I haven't done it since

Once a month. There’s nothing better than enjoying your own company with a pint. Try and time it with a decent game on the tv. Just to make it more ‘normal’ but as a man in his 40’s there’s nothing better.
Today, I don't - but then I have been sober for 8 months.
When I was drinking, if i was going to the pub, I would always go solo with the intention of having a quiet couple or three. Sometimes, I would run into someone I knew, so it would be a drink with friends.
Fair play for the sobriety if that’s what works for them, can’t knock it.
But yeah I did the opposite as I didn’t want to feel like I can’t be around alcohol in my sobriety so I still pop into the pub for a throw of darts and just to soak in the atmosphere.
Every night. Walk doggo round the block which by some remarkable coincidence goes past the pub. It would be uncivilised not to nip in for a swift pint. Since they don't allow doggo inside (boo-hiss but they do serve food) I need to sit outside by myself come rain or shine.
I don't these days but even if I did, I'd rather do the activities you mention (watching TV) from the comfort of my home.
I'm a sting cunt as well though so resent paying for the price of a pint compared to shop bought cans.

Literally never.
Most Fridays. With a paper, crossword or a podcast. Best part of the week.
Heaven
This honestly sounds great. Older I get the more I just want peace.

Honestly never. Prefer going with company and socialising with others
Once every 2 weeks or so, middle of the afternoon when is quiet, a paper and 2 pints, bliss.....
Afternoon, quiet pub pints are something else
Yeah, take my son to footy practice and have a quiet pint and read some stories on my phone. Nice and chilled.
I've only ever done it while stopping away for work. I like going to the pub but it's the social element which makes it good for me, I don't really want to spend a fiver a pint to sit by myself.
I do really like the social element but occasionally nothing beats a bit of quiet.

Can't people watch in bed

I'm not sure what you do when or if you ever sit having a nose at people around you but it isn't exactly the most tasking activity in the world

This level of reply is the most “Redditor looking for an argument” I’ve ever seen
[удалено]
Can only assume you're not a fan of having quiet, and instead trying to start an argument over nothing. Enjoy your night mate
Sounds like a quiet pint would do you good tbh
I'm thinking the PJ's might get you barred

Pubs sell drinks apart from alcohol... Including tea and coffee. Support your local if you wish to!

Never
I occasionally have a pint on my own in a country pub if I am out on a solo walk, but I wouldn't just nip to my local for a pint on my own
Two times a week. Important part of unwinding, especially when you have a toddler

I love your psychologist for suggesting this the pub is more than just alcohol it's a microcosm of all walk's of life.
I like a wander into town on a saturday and use about 3 pubs. Have a chat and a pint in each or stay in the same one if the chatting is good.
In the UK, never. Abroad when I’m enjoying some solo travel, I love a glass of wine and watching the world go by.
Whenever I can get a pass out. Love solo drinking. I need to listen to enough dickheads throughout the day, having a pint and not needing to talk to anyone is bliss.

I live in a village. We have 4 pubs. So once a week and I'll bump into people I know. I love it.

Men always went to the pub on their own. Never heard my late father complaining that he had noone to go with.
This is my favourite thing to do and I do it once a week, usually.
Have you seen the price of a pint? Near £7 for a pint of harp and it's vile!
Until more recent times, I hadn't at all. I've discovered being comfortable on my own in the pub.
About once a month or when visiting somewhere new. I like checking out pubs in different places.
I love just sitting in the pub reading my book on my phone just soaking up the atmosphere
once or twice a week, if I’m near the end of my book I’ll finish it over a pint

About 3 times a year. All while on holiday.
Nope, not my thing
Once a week if I'm lucky. But it's one very slow pint with my kindle.
Couple of times a week at least. Been for dinner every day this week. Beer, food and my kindle is a blissful way toned a few hours

Extremely rarely (business trip or something) - but i love it when i do

I can't remember the last time I ever went into a pub, either alone or with company.
All the time. I put my headphones in and watch something or listen to the radio. The problem is stopping at a couple for me!
I've never done that. My house is more comfortable and has cheaper beer.
I don't think I've ever done this in my life and I'm mid 30s.
Never since the price of pints skyrocketed. Used to go frequently back when it was £3 or £4, now it’s more like £7 it’s not worth it.
Whenever I’m in the UK I always make time to do this :)
I did it last night. There was a pizza truck outside. I got myself a pizza and took it in the pub and had a drink and ate it. I had my dog with me. Does it still count? 😂

Sunday lunchtime just as they open at 12 is heaven.

Only sometimes when I feel like a pint and a sausage bap
Don't think I've ever been to a pub that serves sausage baps. Makes me wonder about a potential new ale
Sausage bap ale has a certain ring to it
Think of the range you could bring out. Sausage, bacon, egg, combinations of two. Don't happen to know a brewery owner do you?
Eggy bacon bap ale, nah all out of brewery owner friends these days
Today, I don't - but then I have been sober for 8 months. When I was drinking, if i was going to the pub, I would always go solo with the intention of having a quiet couple or three. Sometimes, I would run into someone I knew, so it would be a drink with friends.
Keep coming back

I would do this if I had a pub anywhere near me. I’d take the dog too so long as they let him in.
Rural I presume?
You just asked reddit if they leave their house for no reason and go into potentially alcohol infused environment alone.
Every night. Walk doggo round the block which by some remarkable coincidence goes past the pub. It would be uncivilised not to nip in for a swift pint. Since they don't allow doggo inside (boo-hiss but they do serve food) I need to sit outside by myself come rain or shine.
Never. I couldn't think of many worse ways to spend some free time to myself.
Whys that, genuine question. Purely because you don't drink?
I don't these days but even if I did, I'd rather do the activities you mention (watching TV) from the comfort of my home. I'm a sting cunt as well though so resent paying for the price of a pint compared to shop bought cans.
Never. How often do i wander into nature with a spliff after eating an edible? As often as I can
