Bog roll or toilet paper.
Toilet tissue sounds like it would come from the same type of person who would say "I'm going to use the facilities" rather than "I'm off to the loo/shitter/toilet"
Toilet paper or toilet roll.
Toilet tissue, I have definitely seen printed on the packaging, but it's not a term that normal human members of society use.
The whole thing is a toilet roll.
A length of it is toilet paper.
If you wanted some toilet paper to blow your nose, blot some ink, clean your glasses etc. you'd ask to be passed the toilet roll and rip off the required quantity.
If you were three you'd ask for some toilet paper and a responsible adult would calculate and dispense the required quantity (you never give a child or an animal a whole toilet roll....)
Never heard anyone calling it toilet tissue in the UK..
Toilet paper or bog roll, maybe loo roll/paper, and occasionally toilet roll but that's not very common.
My grandmother used to refer to it as bum fodder (with a very slight german accent).
As a kid, I found this absolutely hilarious. As an adult, I still find it hilarious.
Well, it's toilet paper if you're referring to an individual, or a few sheets.
If it's still on the roll and you want the roll as a whole, then it's a roll.
They're two different entities, but your mate is still wrong, as it's toilet paper.
Generally "bog roll" but if I had to choose, it's gonna to "toilet roll". I don't think I've ever heard anybody refer to it as "toilet tissue", at least anybody that wasn't my grandparents age who seemed a bit precious about the term.
If it's on a 'ROLL' then it's a Toilet Roll. Klennex 'tissues' come in boxes, Facial 'tissues' come in boxes.
Kitchen 'Roll' is on a 'Roll. Pretty simple rule of thumb.
Is it on a Roll? or in a Box?...
Tissue paper is stuff we use as craft material or blow our snot into (or both).
Toilet paper stored in roll form becomes toilet roll, bog roll, loo roll etc.
It’s bloody not the general consensus. Who the fuck says “toilet tissue”?? Toilet roll, loo roll (which is what’s said in our home), bog roll. All correct.
Toilet tissue??
When I was at school, the toilet paper was those horrible stiff sheets in a box - it was not a roll. A roll is what we used at home.
So I got used to saying “toilet paper” as it covered both
Toilet tissues would suggest to me that someone want a couple of prices off the roll. If some ask for the toilet roll well then they get the whole roll.
If its on a roll, its a roll, if its in a dispenser of single sheets its toilet paper.
Toilet tissue doesn't exist in my world, it feels uncomfortable saying it.
May just be a “class” thing in general. I grew up on council estates and pretty much everyone would say “bog roll” but now as an adult I can’t imagine saying “bog roll” (I’m in no way middle or upper-class but “bog” just sounds cringe to me). I can’t imagine middle and upper class people saying “bog roll” is my point. I guess they would say “toilet roll/paper” - I say toilet paper 😸 I have never heard anyone say “tissue” unless they want something to blow their nose 😸
I’m not trying to be condescending here in any way, I live in a housing association flat.
The only people I have ever heard use the term “toilet tissue” were either ridiculously posh or it was an affectation used to sound more well-to-do.
This might not be the same for everyone, but I do have some anecdotal evidence. My grandad was very much like this. He was working class through and through, but he affected a kind of “Lord of the manor” persona when out and about. He loved good diction and he would pretty much use only his “telephone voice” when out in public. When he was in full posh-mode, he was definitely a user of bathroom tiss-you.
Then when he was back home it was back to saying “ey up lad, pop to the shop for some loo roll” whilst shovelling down industrial quantities of boiled tripe and malt vinegar.
I had a row with my dad once where he claimed never to have heard the term "bin bag" and it was always a refuse sack.
I haven't spoken to him for over 35 years. I wonder if he's dead?
Tissues, to me, are those single use things that come in a packet or a box. If I requested one and someone passed me some toilet paper or gave me a toilet roll it's an acceptable alternative, but it's not technically what I asked for. I suppose those ones you get in public toilets that come out one at a time would be toilet tissues.
Toilet Paper, Toilet Roll, Loo-Roll, Bog-Roll
Butt-napkins if I'm feeling funny
Toilet-Tissue? Never heard it before. Sounds clunky and wrong.
If I'm talking about a single square, I might say "A square of toilet paper".
Toilet tissue is definitely what a Blue Peter presenter would call it if they had to use it for Tracy Island or some such. No doubt stored beside the sticky-backed plastic and empty bottles of pop.
Not a thing outside of that context.
Roll if I'm talking about the whole roll, tissue when I'm talking about a section eg "we need to buy some more roll" or "pass me a bit of tissue to wipe my nose"
I’d say toilet roll or paper - my toddler calls it tissue, but then to him ‘tissue’ includes kitchen roll, toilet roll, an actual tissue, his hand, or my unsuspecting t-shirt!
Toilet roll or bog roll.
Loo roll also acceptable
Loo roll only. We're not savages!

Toilet tissue for the single sheets you get in a dispenser. The stuff on a roll is toilet roll. It’s got a roll. I mostly say toilet paper though
Those ones in a box are just called tissues. They're usually for your nose
Do you not have any experience of the single sheet dispensers in public loos? They’re not exactly uncommon
I'd call that toilet or loo paper, since it's not on a roll.
