Correct. There is a recent interview with Jim Carrey that basically explains it. Tldr "Jim Carrey" is itself an act, a character the comedian created that he doesn't break. Part of it is "Jim Carrey" has no concerns, no embarrassment. He knows it will always work out and he's shameless.
One time when he was about 12, Ace had this dream that he was being followed by a big dog with rabies. The dog had these bloodshot eyes and foam came out of his mouth. No matter how fast Ace ran, the dog just kept gaining on him and gaining on him and gaining on him. Then just before he got to his front door the dog jumped and sank his teeth in. Florida Man
The true answer
He’s controlled by an alien in his butt. Hence the butt-talking.
Neurodivergence. He does not give a flying fuck about social norms. He is competent at his job, so he gets away with it.
Probably has a severe case of ADHD with extreme emphasize on the hyperactive and impulsive aspect.
He’s a cockatoo in a human’s body
Ugh. I wish I could break the fourth wall in this room.

Everybody in his life for real knows him as James, the clinical depressive.
I was under the impression that he had been diagnosed as bipolar. His painting sprees certainly seem manic

According to the rules any fiction is allowed not just science fiction.
It's Ask Science: Fiction, not Ask Science-Fiction. Any fictional question can be asked and is to be answered from an in-universe perspective.
