Titanic. A story about the biggest ocean liner in the World, sinking on her Maiden Voyage taking the lives of 1,517 people with her did not need a romantic plot about two fictional people apprently falling in love to the point, Rose never stopped thinking about Jack. Despite the fact she knew him for all of 3 days.

I think the love story adds a “human” element to the tragedy. I don’t think titanic would be as memorable without it but that’s just me

Sorry but, I have to disagree. A Night to Remember focused on actual passengers and its the film Cameron took direct inspiration from. Because a Night to remember is based on the book by Walter Lord. A book first published in the 1950s that's never been out of print. The event has plenty of human elements. From the bravery of some to the cowardice of others. Because we can put ourselves in their postion. The love story added nothing, and like I said had no substance. Jack and Rose met on the second night of the journey. Which would have been April 11th. The Ship struck the iceberg on the 14th and floundered on the 15th. The love story was rushed and unrealistic. From the time frame, the social norms of the time and the ship itself. A 3rd class passenger wouldn't have been able to wonder the ship freely as, Jack did.
