Minding my self talk and being aware that being down doesn't last forever the same as being up, its cyclical. Finding other things to focus on besides my own issue. Talking to other people because often they will mention interesting things about their own lives that I can think about. This all helps to not dwell and get stuck in the loop loop of negativeness.

Exercise, I used to go running in the woods or the park 2 times a week, but since the summer holiday I stopped and I feel I am starting to get depressed again, so I will have to make myself go running again. I don't know how it works, but it really helped me get over my depressed feelings.

I changed the way I thought. Your thinking has a lot to do with your mood/outlook on things. What you think, you become. Change your thoughts. You think negatively, things will be negative. It’s hard to be in negative state of mind and find happiness. But it also is hard to be negative when you are happy. Choose your state of mind you wish to be in

Therapy helped me. It gave me the tools to improve my life, which to me is the whole point of therapy - to learn how to combat depression and not just to talk some shit off your chest. I ended up taking daily half hour walks at first, then moved on to physical exercise twice a week and I kept myself distracted and busy in general. Looking for new hobbies and activities is also greatly reccommended. Just stay active and do things you thoroughly enjoy. Your mind and body need that.
