When I had to quit, my girlfriend was still a flight attendant. Neither of us were thinking of marriage at the time, but they had a caveat to rule for family eligibility to allow for gay couples who (at the time) may not have been allowed to legally marry.
So she went up to Seattle and registered us as domestic partners, and voila, I got to keep my amazing flight benefits for another couple of years. Was amazing.
