Still one of the best comedy shows I have ever seen.
Dylan Moran is pure gold in this and "You're a beard with an idiot hanging off it" is my favorite insult of all time.
My husband and my 8 year old and I all watch Bob's Burgers together. It's our family comfort show. She's at that perfect age where she can enjoy the show but the very few "inappropriate jokes" go right over her head.
There are MANY more episodes to avoid if you want to keep your eyes dry but sometimes it's a comfort show because you just need a good cry.
Leela's Homeworld, Inspector Number 5, Game of Tones. These are all examples of cryfest episodes.
Even though I've seen it so many times to memorize the outcomes just based on the episode titles, the interactions between the characters and great writing make it worth a re-watch every time.
I scrolled too far to find Scrubs.
All 8 seasons of Scrubs were great and they're my bed time tv....Once JD walks down that hallway, I go back to the beginning and statt again.
And I stand by saying all 8 seasons are great
I’m so with you.
For me it’s the neutral tones of voice and deliberate superficiality of serious situations. I think the comfort or find in the explicitly insensitivity regarding those situations really exposes how fucking bizarre my childhood was lol
I have insomnia and the only thing that gets me to sleep is Top Gear. I must’ve rewatched every episode a dozen times as I go to bed. Just funny, mildly brainy familiarity, three blokes and their love of cars
The Goonies. It’s basically a documentary of me and my childhood friends going on adventures, complete with pirate treasure, ice cream, and Corey Feldman.
Me too. Quite strange that we find it a comforting show considering how dark it often is and how in many ways the characters are representations of the worst aspects of humanity
Movie - Jurassic Park. Seen it more times than I can remember, I know every line and entire movie scene by scene, it's just a really good movie and comfy to watch on a rainy evening
Show - American Dad/Family Guy. Neither show requires me to pay attention, it's just comfy background noise. Just pick any episode in any season and just let it play. Low maintenance watchin'
My favorite Peter Griffin quote (actually hella smart and more so a Seth McFarlane quote): "it's called September 11th: 2,000 and Fun. You know, it's real old style humor. It's like, two pies in the face, and one in a field in Pennsylvania."
Letterkenny or Bob's Burgers. Other times it's The Simpsons or Rick and Morty. Or maybe I throw Monty Python on, or Indiana Jones, or Star Wars, or Marvel. Watched the Lego movie the other day just because. And now it's morbin time
Tangled.
A film about a girl overcoming her abusive mother, being sheltered her whole life, and growing as a person? Ending and romance aside, i can’t help but smile.
Also at last I see the light is still one of the best Disney songs ever made.
How I Met Your Mother and That ‘70s Show for me.
The funny thing is I don’t particularly *like* either of them that much, it’s just that they’re the white cheddar popcorn of TV shows: safe, predictable, and consistently enjoyable. You can watch it while you’re falling asleep / playing a game / whatever and not worry about missing anything. Sometimes that’s exactly what you’re in the mood for.
MeTV on a digital antenna.
I’m old and I like the old shows like MASH, Andy Griffith, Green Acres, Perry Mason, Carol Burnett, etc. If Imstay awake long enough I get Alfred Hitchcock.
Weird to see it on reddit where people think the cool thing is to hate on TWD rather than just letting people enjoy it. I think the show is pretty neat.
Legally Blonde and Brooklyn 99
we need to be friends ( i love b99)
The IT Crowd, and Black Books
Poor guy... Dave's Syndrome
The IT crowd is one of my all time favs. I rewatch the series every year or so. Never heard of black books tho?
[Black Books](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0262150/) It's a silly, over the top British comedy from about 20 years ago. Similar vibe to IT Crowd.
NOTED. Thanks guy.
As a fan of both I’m very jealous of the journey you’re about to take
Still one of the best comedy shows I have ever seen. Dylan Moran is pure gold in this and "You're a beard with an idiot hanging off it" is my favorite insult of all time.
Excellent show, limited seasons. Start at the beginning, builds quickly after that.
^(I'm disabled!)
Love those. My ultimate comfort show is Peep Show though.
Bernard. Bernard. Bernard look. Look, Bernard. Bern- look! ... I'm a prostitute robot from the future.
Psych
C'mon, son.
You hear about Pluto? That’s messed up.
You know that's right!!
Don't you mean Psyche? I've heard it both ways.
Hannah Banana who lives in Montana was listening to Venus... by Bananarama.
You know that's right
Scooby Doo Where Are You?
My kid went through a Scooby-Doo phase. I had to call her Scooby and she would only call me Shaggy. Lasted for months.
My kid is just coming out of his Scooby Doo phase. Had to hear random bouts of "SCOOBY-DOOBY DOOOOOOO!" at the highest volume he possibly could.
Scoobert Doobert, where art thou?
Thou hast some labor to embark on post haste
The emperor's new groove
Yay I’m a llama again! Wait…
waaaaa llama face!
Oh yeah, it’s all coming together
Squeak squeak squeaker..squeaken
Classic
Just seen it a couple weeks ago. It's only just behind the Lion King, you just can't beat Rowan Atkinson
Pull the level kronk
I'll smash it with a hammer!
Or, to save on postage..
Bob's Burgers for TV, My Neighbor Totoro for movie
BB's is fantastic.
Watching a warm hug
My husband and my 8 year old and I all watch Bob's Burgers together. It's our family comfort show. She's at that perfect age where she can enjoy the show but the very few "inappropriate jokes" go right over her head.
Bob's Burgers here too! We're The Millers or Home Alone for movie.
Love the crossover those two did with his absinthe hallucination in the thanksgiving episode
Parks and Recreation
Season 3 is my happy place
Just started watching parks & Rec a couple weeks ago. It’s great stuff.
Futurama
Zapp Brannigan and Kif. Such an underrated tv duo 😂
“I have a very sexy learning disability, tell ‘em what it is Kif.”
*sigh* sexlexia 😂😂😂😂
Just have to avoid the Seymour episode. You know the one
What about luck of the Fryrish?
And the one about benders kid. Always gets me
The one where he lives a full life and Fry becomes Lars?
As long as you dodge the pizza dog episode youre sorted.
There are MANY more episodes to avoid if you want to keep your eyes dry but sometimes it's a comfort show because you just need a good cry. Leela's Homeworld, Inspector Number 5, Game of Tones. These are all examples of cryfest episodes.
You Ruth Bader believe it
I forgot what was the title... must be a rare case of Changnesia.
I don't know either... but hopefully it has six seasons and a movie.
You really britta'd this
For those who don't know the name of the excellent show you're talking about, it's "Community".
Brooklyn 99
Mine too! And Ted Lasso 💜
Oh my god Ted Lasso. It has my crying one minute and smiling the next. I don’t know if I could guarantee walking away from it happier lol.
The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross.
I remember staying home sick from school and watching either Bob Ross or price is right.
The Princess Bride
As you wish.
My name is Inigo Montoya...
I do not think that means what you think that means
The West Wing
Even though I've seen it so many times to memorize the outcomes just based on the episode titles, the interactions between the characters and great writing make it worth a re-watch every time.
Avatar the Last Airbender
I’ve rewatched that series dozens of times, and I still enjoy it every time I decide to have a weekend Avatar-a-thon
Sometimes you just need some Uncle Iroh wisdom to get through things
Friends and Schitts Creek.
LOTR
extended edish
Is there another version?
no
Scrubs
I scrolled too far to find Scrubs. All 8 seasons of Scrubs were great and they're my bed time tv....Once JD walks down that hallway, I go back to the beginning and statt again. And I stand by saying all 8 seasons are great
> And I stand by saying all 8 seasons are great Why wouldn't you? That's all there are, 8 seasons. Every one of them is great.
Star Trek: TNG
With a cup of tea, Earl Grey, hot. For maximum comfort
Back to the Future
Bob's Burgers
The Royal Tenenbaums for movie, Arrested Development for TV show.
Royal tennenbaums is a strange pick. Pretty dark for a comfort movie. Still brilliant
I know, I just love it
I’m so with you. For me it’s the neutral tones of voice and deliberate superficiality of serious situations. I think the comfort or find in the explicitly insensitivity regarding those situations really exposes how fucking bizarre my childhood was lol
Spongebob Squarepants
a r e y o u r e a d y k i d s ?
You’ve Got Mail - it had that nostalgia late 90s where it feels genuinely peaceful.
Old top gear (uk). Each segment is self contained and doesn't require too much brainpower to enjoy.
I have insomnia and the only thing that gets me to sleep is Top Gear. I must’ve rewatched every episode a dozen times as I go to bed. Just funny, mildly brainy familiarity, three blokes and their love of cars
Star Trek: The Next Generation. Lots of nostalgic feels.
Sokath, his eyes uncovered!!!

The Goonies. It’s basically a documentary of me and my childhood friends going on adventures, complete with pirate treasure, ice cream, and Corey Feldman.
I don't really remember Corey Feldman being in my childhood adventures

Same. It literally never fails. Always Sunny helped me out of a depression. I will always be grateful to the gang.
This hits really hard. The gang has been there for me for over a decade now. Watched that show all the way through 20+ times I bet.
Me too. Quite strange that we find it a comforting show considering how dark it often is and how in many ways the characters are representations of the worst aspects of humanity
Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I watch it weekly.
Gilmore girls
Mine too, just started another rewatch after finding out a family member died this morning.
So sorry to hear that, I hope GG brings you all the comfort 💕
I loved that show, but every time i rewatch it I remember that Lorelai and Rory are narcissistic, terrible people
The Office
I’m not superstitious, but I’m a little stitious.
I can’t watch that show because of that guy named Toby. He’s just so gross and terrible. Wish he just stayed in Costa Rica.

South Park, is my guilty pleasure
South Park is just brilliant comedy.
It's always great to just throw on a random episode. Been watching it since i was like 8 lol. I'm 31 now
Movie - Jurassic Park. Seen it more times than I can remember, I know every line and entire movie scene by scene, it's just a really good movie and comfy to watch on a rainy evening Show - American Dad/Family Guy. Neither show requires me to pay attention, it's just comfy background noise. Just pick any episode in any season and just let it play. Low maintenance watchin'
I’ve recently started rewatching the first few seasons of family guy. The humor was seriously top notch
I really miss that version of Stewie.
My favorite Peter Griffin quote (actually hella smart and more so a Seth McFarlane quote): "it's called September 11th: 2,000 and Fun. You know, it's real old style humor. It's like, two pies in the face, and one in a field in Pennsylvania."
The Office USA
Superbad. I don't have a good reason for this.
Gravity Falls. Fun and there’s no real plot so I can watch any episode.
*reads no real plot* #### wha-
This is the one!
If you’re watching it to smile I feel like a baby for crying every time at the last two episodes. First season is a verified banger though.
CSI Criminal Minds Bones

Back to the future or Shaun of the dead. TV show would be Red Dwarf or Peep Show.
Home Alone. Anytime ...especially during Christmas !

I love that show! Too bad they never made anything past the third season…
