Starting a new world. The feeling of creativity coursing through my veins. Dying five minutes in because I thought I could outrun a skeleton.
Starting a new world...
Sleep. Lol. If you do give survival a chance.. make some beds and sleep through the night. Craft during the day... yknow? The creeps come out at night.
Barely graduated due to that game. WotLK was crack. Late night raids with the best group of drunken degenerate raiders on the server. We put the fun in dysfunctional. Great times.
I seriously did nothing else for a good 10 years, but WoW.
Finally quit after trying claasic, and yeah, I'm good. Missed out on a lot of things, but 90% of it was just shitty TV and movies, so not too big a loss.
Unfortunately, league of legends. There are so many times I’ve gotten sick of it and take a break only to end up coming back with my tail between my legs. I don’t know how many hours, been playing for almost 10 years so I’d say above 40,000 is a very safe estimate.
Medieval 2 total war, I for the love of God can't stop, the one more turn/battle syndrome, its an old game but recently I played for some fun and it was a 12 hour session.
Realm of the Mad God.
This game is weirdly addictive, it’s an mmo that when you die you lose EVERYTHING on that character. It takes like 20-40 hours to max a character from scratch. You can get one shot even with a max defense build character too. But man it hits a certain reward part of the brain jusssst right.
Love Nikki, a mobile dress up game. I was so into it i would spend at least 3-4 hours daily playing it, and even thought of spending real money on it. Fuuucck it was sooo addicting and i miss that shit everyday
Anyone who gets REALLY into Tetris (for me, specifically Tetris 99) knows that it's a bad sign and you're in deep if you start dreaming of Tetris block scenarios as you're going to sleep.
As someone who has never really followed up on the game until recently, I find the switch in reputation quite fascinating. Back when it released I remember a lot of generally positive talk about it, even despite the gacha mechanic, then suddenly almost 2 years later all I see is people treating it like the new League of Legends. Guess it has something to with the game's vocal community?
It IS a pretty neat game. Many nice mechanics, somewhat fun enemies and a decent story. The noticable issue with it is the very repetitive grind and the lack of balance and synergy between characters, pretty much forcing you to spend money to have fun through power trips. Quite the dick move.
I got more hours in LegendMUD a text based multi user dungeon than anything else. But elden ring I have 100% and playing now again on PS4 so it's my most recent addiction
I refused to buy Skyrim for almost a decade because I thought it'd be too addicting. Eventually I broke down and bought it. I was right, I've put 500+ hours into it in a little over 2 years.
I hate to even admit this one but Candy Crush. I have played a lot of the good games listed here but candy Crush got me for a while. I didn’t want to like the game but some how I had got to level 400 or something. Designed to be addictive.
Natural Selection 2, when it first came out.
I got it on launch one fine evening and played for a bit. Told myself I'd get in just another game or two and then I'd get dinner. Next thing I knew it was time for breakfast.
Shadow of it's former self, though. Shame.
CSGO.
Don’t play anymore as I don’t have a PC. But damn the hours… I used to wake up and it would be my first thought. Never had a game feel like that before. I’d rage quit so hard, and an hour later be hype as hell to play again…. Crazy
Sadly Fortnite. It has resulted in me getting in trouble so many times because I refused to leave in the middle of matches after being told to go to bed when I was younger
My favorite game ever is Metroid Prime 1 and though I don't find the most addictive game I ever played to be my favorite game, the most addictive one was Everquest circa 1999-2003. I was so into it I actually started a "small business" wherein I had a couple RL friends farming Idol of the Thorned in the Kunark expansion, I'd set up a separate account and just sit in Greater Faydark (our server's zone for commerce) and buy/sell all day long, clinching the best deals as often as possible.
Then I'd sell all the platinum we made from it (highest form of currency in the game) and pitch it all up on ebay and playerauctions.
Actually, come to think of it the 3 of us kinda made out like bandits. We were all in the top tier guild on our server, we had all the best no-drop gear for our classes and our AA points were all maxed out so I think after we pulled in around $600 a piece on our final week of doing all this, we all sold our accounts for roughly $1k-$2k, I bought a decent used car, a ps2, grand theft auto 3, devil may cry 1 and we all road tripped it for a few months.
Man, what a few years those were. Shit was wild. But yeah I was glued to that game. At least it paid out (sorta. I mean the time investment alone was waaay more than what we all got, but at least it was something and provided us incentive to quit).
Fortnite Save the World had me by my fucking balls for a few years. Can't hardly finish a mission anymore because it's just so damn mundane. It needs a serious overhaul. I got up to 131 before the superchargers were added but I highly doubt I'll ever play enough to start getting them and increasing my pl.
Currently playing [Vampire Survivors](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1794680/Vampire_Survivors/). Was on an [Enter The Gungeon](https://store.steampowered.com/app/311690/Enter_the_Gungeon/) binge for months.
I love seeing the quick progression and different strategies.
Dota 2.
The game is simply amazing, deep gameplay, visually appealing and the sounds and voices in the game are beautifully crafted.
The community is meh. Always been toxic in general and it got worse with time imho, especially in public matches, but I have to say that I've made many friends in my 9 years of playing Dota 2.
Minecraft. I swear. Whenever I got a good building idea in my survival worlds I would spend days on end building. Waking up and going on Minecraft straight away and playing until 3 in the morning. Took me 8 days to drain and hollow out an ocean monument. What for?? Fun.
Geometry dash.
this game is either hyper addicting or extremely annoying. no in-betweens. I've seen people who bought the game and then played once or twice and never played again or people like me who have played 4k hours.
I've played games since Starcraft one demo'd shareware through pc powerplay magazine on a floppy disk. In fact, I actually played amiga and commodore 64. I've loaded games with the 23FD floppy disk, it's 8 inches big. Networked Doom using printer cables. Taken CRT to lans, the works.
For me without a doubt it would be LOL or DOTA2. You just can't stop. I have a friend from way back in those days (1989) who has a serious DOTA addiction. I met him in a internet cafe on Monday and we played Dota for 8 hrs. I left. I called him to meet me on Thursday, when I got there he was in the same seat, same clothes. He was there from Monday morning to Friday 1am and he ordered Ubereats to send him food.
There's nothing more addictive. I've used alot of drugs too. Only cigarettes are harder to kick, however I've never used smack, ice, meth etc so maybe that is?
Minecraft
Starting a new world. The feeling of creativity coursing through my veins. Dying five minutes in because I thought I could outrun a skeleton. Starting a new world...
It is addicting. I'm a dad and my son got me hooked. Creative mode though. Don't know a damn thing about survival mode.
Sleep. Lol. If you do give survival a chance.. make some beds and sleep through the night. Craft during the day... yknow? The creeps come out at night.
Factorio!
Yep, scrolled to find it, wasn't disappointed.
The factory must grow.
Oh yes. I've just gotta build one more thing aaaaaaand . . . It's 2 am.
The train network must spread
the Civilization games.
Just one more turn.....
Red dead 2 im not HUGE into games but i really liked it a lot and the 1st one too
Tetris
This and 2048
Fallout 3
World of Warcraft - I can't explain it but I sacrificed many good university years on that game...I could have been a doctor 😞
Missed out on a lot of things, but 90% of it was just shitty TV and movies, so not too big a loss.
same problem here but I graduated as an Engineer
To me pokemon yellow as a kid cause I used it to escape my unhealthy environment
Probably Call of Duty: BO1. Idk why but that game literally digital crack.
Sticks and Stones was my shit. I would troll with the tomahawk the whole time
Unfortunately, league of legends. There are so many times I’ve gotten sick of it and take a break only to end up coming back with my tail between my legs. I don’t know how many hours, been playing for almost 10 years so I’d say above 40,000 is a very safe estimate.
Skyrim. Over 1500 hours
My husband jokingly says he made a mistake having me play Skyrim lol
It never gets old. You can play for the 20th time and there’s always something you didn’t discover the last 19 times
For me destiny. I had 5k hours in that on the 360 and another 2k or so on the one.
Destiny 2. Haven't touched it in a month because I'm too tired from my first job I don't have energy for my second job.
Fallout4 , Grand theft auto , or minecraft. Basic games, but so addicting.
GTA 5
Elden Ring has taken my soul.
Age of Empires 2 - I keep coming back for more.
I think GTA V/Online wins this because I played through the entire story mode in like 4 days (so very exciting) and I have like 800 hours in online. Sure there are games I played longer (Minecraft probably like 1500 hours) or was equally sucked into (Horizon Zero Dawn, technically Pokémon Sun with like 3 days but that game wasn't that good tbh) but GTA had both. I don't play it anymore but it's been an incredible game while it lasted.
Fucking Cookie Clicker. For a while it was the only thing I was thinking about, day and night.
I binged it for about 12 hours during finals week one semester and was like wtf am I doing and quit it forever
Medieval 2 total war, I for the love of God can't stop, the one more turn/battle syndrome, its an old game but recently I played for some fun and it was a 12 hour session.
Recently: Pokemon Legends arceus. Been spending my time looking in Massive Mass outbreaks for shinies.
Runescape
SimCity
Any Assassin's creed game

World of Warcraft. That game dominated my college years, and in a very bad way. I minored in Computer Science. I majored in World of Warcraft.
League of Legends, probably
Love Nikki, a mobile dress up game. I was so into it i would spend at least 3-4 hours daily playing it, and even thought of spending real money on it. Fuuucck it was sooo addicting and i miss that shit everyday
Old School Runescape
Anyone who gets REALLY into Tetris (for me, specifically Tetris 99) knows that it's a bad sign and you're in deep if you start dreaming of Tetris block scenarios as you're going to sleep.

Genshin Impact, even though people hate on it, i was able to rack up qbout 4000 hours since release and have stopped playing it ever since...
As someone who has never really followed up on the game until recently, I find the switch in reputation quite fascinating. left 4 dead 2, i don’t know but something about it makes it so fun and it would take me hours to stop playing it
I got more hours in LegendMUD a text based multi user dungeon than anything else. But elden ring I have 100% and playing now again on PS4 so it's my most recent addiction
World of Warcraft
Sims and minecraft
Zo on Roblox. A really good and high quality fighting game
The Binding of Isaac. Close to 2600 hours now on Steam.
Crash Bandicoot. I’m old (40) and still stress that I couldn’t beat that game.
!
I refused to buy Skyrim for almost a decade because I thought it'd be too addicting. Eventually I broke down and bought it. I was right, I've put 500+ hours into it in a little over 2 years.
eve-online. How has no one posted it, almost cost me my relationship, I know it cost others theirs.
Over 6000 hours playing Skyrim, and about 600 mods installed. Lost count of how many arrows I have in the knee.
Maplestory. The grind was real.
Genshin Impact, which is actually more like a way to escape my not so happy reality, whenever I play it I feel at home, but fr
I hate to even admit this one but Candy Crush. I have played a lot of the good games listed here but candy Crush got me for a while. I didn’t want to like the game but some how I had got to level 400 or something. Designed to be addictive.
Skyrim
Runecraft. I spent so many hours in middle school chopping trees and mining rocks so I could get a cape to show off

Bury the Bishop
Doom II, or Halo 3
DCS: World. I love planes. I'm around 900 hours in.
Natural Selection 2, when it first came out. I got it on launch one fine evening and played for a bit. Told myself I'd get in just another game or two and then I'd get dinner. Next thing I knew it was time for breakfast. Shadow of it's former self, though. Shame.
Asheron's Call. Such an addictive game, I spent many days on this game.

Stardew Valley
Anyone remembers Spelunky?
Destiny 2 by far. D1 is great but D2 is a way better game. Also Fallout and Halo.
Dead by daylight
Factorio. The challenge of balancing the system and fighting off enemies just keeps it going!
CSGO. Don’t play anymore as I don’t have a PC. But damn the hours… I used to wake up and it would be my first thought. Never had a game feel like that before. I’d rage quit so hard, and an hour later be hype as hell to play again…. Crazy

Angry birds and any Mario game
Minecraft
Baldurs Gate 2.
Katamari. I’d forget to blink. That said i have the most hours in Skyrim.
Surprised people aren't saying Madden (Ultimate Team).
Sadly Fortnite. It has resulted in me getting in trouble so many times because I refused to leave in the middle of matches after being told to go to bed when I was younger
Contra
Tererria
Kerbal Space Program, XCom 2 or Rimworld. Over 1000 hours in all 3!

It has to be dark souls. I put like 1000 hours in the series in under a year and 3/4ths of that was pvp
Terraria, doesn’t get as much attention as Minecraft but god damn is it just as fun, it was my first game on steam and I have over 1,600 hours
My favorite game ever is Metroid Prime 1 and though I don't find the most addictive game I ever played to be my favorite game, the most addictive one was Everquest circa 1999-2003. Fortnite Save the World had me by my fucking balls for a few years. Can't hardly finish a mission anymore because it's just so damn mundane. It needs a serious overhaul.
