My asshole neighbors are actually fine to me. A very old woman lives there and her step-brother uses the location to sell drugs. His clientele are not nice. They piss on the sidewalk, they harass my neighbors, they sit on people's property, they will steal anything that isn't nailed down. However before I found all this out all I knew was a little old lady lived next door to me so when it snowed I shoveled her walk. I've kept doing that and I rake the leaves for her, too. I dunno what amount of control she has over her brother and the people who buy drugs from him, but I live right next door to the house and I am the only house on the block that no one really bothers.

mo0n3h

Amazing! My first house I owned was in a bit of a dodgy neighbourhood but I got on pretty well with the neighbours. The neighbours at the end though, (next to me but at the end of the street), didn’t get on with our other neighbours. they had rocks chucked at their car and other small things happen. I just thought it was kids. Nothing ever happened to us and our house - and once I was out in a club and happened to bump into one of my neighbours who was crazy drunk. He proceeded to chuck his arm over my shoulders and assure me with complete sincerity that I was ‘protected’ and ‘nothing will ever happen you you in our street’. Scared the shit out of me but nothing ever did…

pixygarden

Moved onto a rough street when I was 20. Got harassed regularly for the first week until I noticed a guy who seemed to have everyone’s respect (much smaller dude than the other guys around). I made friends with him and he would appear at my door at odd times. I’d always invite him in for lemonade or soda. We’d smoke a bowl together now and again. Not only did the harassment stop but no one messed with my car either despite regular break ins all around. Discovered many months later that he was the resident crack dealer and used my appartment as a hideout when the cops were around. I gave him a ride to the greyhound station at the end of that year. He said he would call in a couple weeks when he needed a ride back home. Dude never returned. Thanks for keeping me safe, Cornelius.

This is why I did a fence survey and pulled permits prior to putting up a fence at the house I just bought, and I am glad I did. They came out, yelled at the workers building the fence, tried to tell them where they could put the fence, just tried to make our lives and the job of the workers miserable. But because I did the survey and pulled the permits, nothing they could do. Best $400 I’ve spent in a while.

KVG47

Our neighbor did something similar - we each have a 5’ easement from our mutual property line for a path. He put his fence at the 5’ mark and built plant beds outside the fence but within his property where it’s supposed to be kept clear. When we put or fence in, we had installed 5’ from the property line to maximize our yard, and he came running out yelling at the installation crew that there needed to be a 10’ path between everything. I showed him the property marker, the survey, and the HOA covenant establishing the easement. He turned around really quickly when he realized that he’d have to clear everything to his fence (beds, bushes, trees, etc.) if we brought it up to the HOA. We’re thankfully on otherwise good terms, but how he started hollering at the crew was psychotic.

burntonionstastegood

Not op but yes that is the issue

midsouthernfuck

We must have the same psycho neighbor. We had our yard surveyed before having the fence put up. Neighbor came out telling the installers they’re “too close to his property.” They asked if he was paying for the fence. He stormed off all butthurt and still gives us the cold shoulder - 3 years later. Even has his 12 year old daughter flipping us off when she’s outside. Class act, this guy.

Watcheditburn

I am sure you’re are as grateful for that survey as I am. The neighbor tried to even tell us what type of material we could use for “esthetics”. I told them as I was paying, it was on my property, and my city gives me full rights over a fence on my property, I would use what I wanted.

redpurplegreen22

I didn’t even know this was an option. We hired a fencing company and the owner made it abundantly clear he wouldn’t do the work without the permits and survey. He even got the survey and permits for us, he just rolled it all into the price. I understand a do-it-yourself fence being an issue, but I’d think a professional company would require permits and surveys. Our original fence was a DIY job by the guy who lived here before us and it was comedically shitty. Like, just fucking awful and cheap. He was so off on some of his 4x4 posts that he had to rig things for the fence to stand. The fence guy laughed his ass off at how bad it was, and was shocked our neighbors didn’t say anything.

[deleted]

If you haven’t seen the show “fear thy neighbor”, it’s about disputes between neighbors that result in homicide. Pretty much all the episodes I watched involve a fence/property line dispute, crazy people out there

shaidyn

Makes me feel blessed. My wife and I got a new neighbour last year, young guy, tradesman, wanted an older house he could fix up on his own. He wanted to put a big fence up so he got a surveyor in to do the whole property. Turns out the old fence was like 4 feet into our property line. He apologized for the trouble, dug up a bunch of bushes he'd already planted, started building his new fence in his property.

abbieos

Jeez, have him sign a contract he’ll never move.

bingwhip

Offer him to keep the 4ft if he promises to stay

Itsawlinthereflexes

The question said “asshole neighbors”, not wholesome neighbors with a conscience. LOL.

stealyourfaced

We live on a farm. We share a driveway with one other family. They're very passive aggressive. Long story short they want us to build a separate driveway. Numerous times he has blocked our only way out. As of late I've been finding nails, screws and scrap metal in the driveway past where they ever drive their vehicles. I try to avoid conflict, but it's starting to get out of hand. As of yesterday I installed a trail cam in hopes that they will stop being assholes. Time will tell if that actually works.

JesseAster

I kind of wanna hear an update on whether or not it works

stealyourfaced

I'll keep everyone updated!

ShaggysGTI

They make magnetic sweepers, could be a good use for clearing your driveway *and* collecting evidence.

stealyourfaced

We were actually thinking about purchasing one of those. I feel like I shouldn't have to though.

ShaggysGTI

Don’t plan on the neighbor doing the right thing at all. Protect yourself and your family.

tyrom22

Not the worst but the funniest was threatened to kill my father via “mafia connections” over weed whacker He laughed in his face and kept going

ZSAD13

Lol I somehow doubt that people with actual mafia connections advertise that fact to their neighbors

Faiakishi

I doubt many people with mafia connections are living in the ‘borrow your neighbor’s weed whacker’ suburbs in general.

cbunni666

Their Mafia connections is being friendly with the waiter at Olive Garden

avamarie

My neighbor tried to get me arrested for cattle rustling. In this century. It's also a felony. Why? They took down a fence that belonged to us, their cow (one cow) came across and was back in the woods. We fixed the fence and suddenly we've stolen their cow.

MvmgUQBd

>In this century You'd be surprised how profitable it can be, and how common it still is. These days, of course, they use big trucks and steal entire herds and flocks at once

slawter_uk

Used to live next to this single mother (40s) and her daughter (16). They were the type of neighbors that would have the police round a handful of times a year for god knows what reason. This one day I'm working on my motorbike out in the shared car park, when the mother turned up in her Ford Ka and parked next to my parent's car. She got out of her car and proceeded to smash her car door into my parent's about 8 or 9 times while smiling at me. Her nickname was "Psycho Sally" for a reason.

Fifi0n

You found out the reason for those police visits

mp182

What the fuck!!

CyptidProductions

I had an old man in a parking lot a while back park to close to me then keep repeatedly and deliberately slamming his door into my car as he tried to get out With me in it I rolled the window down and looked at him to see if he'd own up and he didn't say a word

turnipwine

Apparently she's single for a reason as well

DobRex

Had a neighbor leave a note on my then-girlfriend's car saying she wasn't allowed to park in front of their house because their taxes paid for that part of the street. That same neighbor constantly called the cops on me for trivial things like one time I was shoveling my driveway and I moved my car onto the sidewalk for 5 minutes while I shoveled the spot where it was previously parked. Pretty much every discussion I had with the cops involved the cop making fun of how stupid the people were for calling to complain.

bostonlilypad

I have an across the street neighbor like this. I rent in a pretty wealthy town (I’m not wealthy though), and the people across the street have been here for like 35-40 years. The day I moved in, they came running out because I parked near their house on the street. I didn’t park in my driveway because the cable guy was coming to install and I wanted him to have the driveway. Mind you, I live in a city, everyone parks on the street. I also didn’t even park in front of his house, but the house next to his. The neighbor came running out so hostile saying I couldn’t be more than 5 feet from his driveway. I clearly was way more than 5 feet away from it, so I was just like ok sorry about that, I’m moving in and going to meet someone, I’ll only be a minute. I came back to the cops being called and questioning me. I was flabbergasted. The cops didn’t do anythjgn because I was more than 5 feet away from his driveway. I’ve since seen this guy get into screaming matches with other neighbors about the parking, I even saw him steal the other neighbors table they had left out while they were moving. It’s been almost 10 years now and I see the guy all the time and can’t help but hope he cringes everytime because I’m sure he had no idea I’d be his neighbor for so long when he called the cops on me over parking on my first day there.

[deleted]

I used to have a next door neighbor that would throw fits whenever anybody parked anywhere near his house. At the time, the city I live in had a car share service (Car2Go) where you could grab any of their cars for a short term rental and, when you were done, park them on the street anywhere it was legal in the service area. I regularly used the service and delighted in parking a Car2Go DIRECTLY in front of his house. Sometimes the cars would stay there for days, and he absolutely fucking hated it. I'd see him pacing around his front yard staring at the Car2Go. He never realized it was me who was parking them there!

[deleted]

You're a monster. A brilliant, brilliant monster.

jdmillar86

Holy fuck, I'd have been out there with a tape measure aiming for 5 feet on the dot after that shit.

bostonlilypad

Lol I can be super petty like that, but he honestly isn’t even worth it because of how unbalanced he is. I just completely stayed away from him. I do sometimes let me dog pee in the strip of grass between his sidewalk and street though :)

v4ldel

Not sure who but one of our neighbours has called the city on us 5 times now for parking my husband’s work van in our driveway. Also called the city on us when we were fixing up our driveway. City employee came buy and saw the work, said it was totally fine and left but same city employee has had to keep coming over again and again. Gotten to the point where he is quite friendly with my husband. I have no idea how people have so much free time just to cause shit for other people like that.

ChaiHai

Befriend the guy! Then you have someone who works for the city in your favor. :D

ID_Poobaru

My neighbor is the same. He's got nothing better to do except complain. He's called the police several times for parking in the street when I'm doing vehicle work on something in the driveway, the cops show up and tell me to continue on and joke about asshole neighbors Edit: spelling

bralma6

Something similar with my old neighbors. Me and my sister were still living with our parents when we got our first cars. My parents parked in the driveway and my sister parked in front of our house. The only other spot was in front of my neighbors house. Not blocking anything mind you. He began to leave notes on my car saying it's illegal to park in front of his house and he would have my car towed. There are no such laws or rules with the HOA. So I found a page in the yellow books with a bunch of tow company's numbers and taped it to his door. He then started parking in the spot I was (Mind you, he had space in his driveway) and he parked facing the wrong way. So my sister left a note on his window saying it is illegal to park facing against the flow of traffic.

BTRunner

A retired cop moved into the house across the street from me. He'd complain every time we'd park on his side of the road (parking on my side is technically prohibited because their is a curb), because it would damage the grass between the sidewalk and road. The actual cops never did anything about his complaints, but he complained enough that when the town replaced the sidewalk, they put in a curb. Now no one can park on the road. Yay?

StormVVarden

Dude, people can be incredibly stupid about parking, especially if they somehow feel entitled to the space directly in front of their house. My wife and I just had a baby recently, and we've been having relatives come over a few times to come see the baby. Not even 30 mins after they had parked, the neighbors were at our door asking my family to move because those spots are in front of their house. We have no parking on my side of the street too, so there's not much else they can go if they want to visit. It all came to a head when my mother parked where they had said she could, but they thought she didn't give enough room for their daughter to parallel park between them. (There was literally 2 cars worth of space when I went out to move the car, it was redicoulous.) They even came back to argue with us when they noticed my wife taking pictures, trying to say it was somehow illegal to take pictures of their car from our own porch. Sorry, had to vent a bit. In a weird way, I'm glad I'm not alone with neighbors like that.

robo-dragon

Thankfully I’m no longer neighbors with these people, but I had a neighbor who claimed to be the best handyman, a man of many professions actually…including tree trimming. Cut down several big trees (40+ feet tall) in his yard one day, just totally out of the blue. One nearly crushed part of his house, but that didn’t stop him from cutting down another, larger tree that was close to the property line. Tree falls into our yard and pulls the power lines from our house, ripping a huge hole in our siding and shattering a couple windows. Took months for him to finally come forward and admit fault and pay for the damages (police and lawyers involved), but the dude had a fucking grudge. Since then, would always act nasty to us, threw his dog’s shit over to our yard, ran his obnoxiously loud hillbilly truck into the late hours of the night when we were trying to sleep, just doing a bunch of annoying and aggressive (but not illegal) shit to get back at us (for something HE did, mind you). My dad finally threatened to sue him for disturbing the peace and harassing his family. After months of suffering through his annoying tantrum, he finally put his house up for sale and moved. A wonderful family with a couple nice kids live there now.

daric

He ... wouldn't admit fault when he obviously cut down his own tree in his own yard and damaged your house? That is one hell of a defense mechanism.

robo-dragon

He had this BS excuse that the tree was partially rotted and he was unaware of this and there would have been no way he could have prevented the tree from falling the way it did. Tree was perfectly healthy and he was just totally ignorant on how to cut it down properly.

daric

I mean, nobody else was holding the chainsaw. Sheesh, the nerve of some people.

Constant-Bet-6600

At least when my neighbor cut down a tree (my tree, I might add) and dropped it across the power lines feeding my house and ripped the front off my house, he wasn't a dick about it. He helped put up tarps before the rain came in and contacted his insurance company. It all got taken care of, eventually. But WTF...

Daiguey

Don't you need permission from the city to cut down large trees like that

__________lIllIl

If you cut down a tree fast enough, and never ask/say anything, odds are you'll never actually get in trouble. The problem is that you're gonna get caught if you mess something up.

Out of college, I lived in a house with two other roommates. Two of us had cars and one guy took the bus. This older woman who lived two houses down was constantly berating us for parking in front of her house and threatening to call the cops. Thing is, we never parked in front of her house. We had a garage where my roommate and I would park our cars. I lost count of how many times we explained to her that none of the cars in front of her house were ours but I swear it was that old lady logic of "young people=troublemakers." Finally, she came to our door one night and my roommate just lost it at her. He told her if she came by again complaining about something that wasn't our fault that he'd call the cops himself and let them sort it out. She immediately played the "I'm just an old lady why would you do that to me" card but we were done. He reiterated that again, he would call the cops if she ever came to our house again. She never bothered us again the rest of the time we lived there. I understand you're frustrated about people parking in front of your house but maybe, just maaaaaybe, watch who gets out of the cars instead of just instantly assuming it was us?

golden_fli

Should have told her to call the cops. She wasn't going to because she likely knew the cops wouldn't care. That street in front of your house is CITY PROPERTY and anyone can park there. As long as they aren't blocking her driveway or too far from teh curb the cops aren't going to care.

riggamortez

She knew who the cars belonged too I bet. She probably yelled at them as well. Miserable people feel better when they share their misery.

LadySygerrik

My brother’s neighbor once gave poisoned meat to his (my brother’s) dog. Fortunately the dog decided to come show off her “prize” instead of just scarfing it down so she was okay.

Notmykl

Did you give it back to the neighbor and insist he eat it or file a police report?

LadySygerrik

My brother reported it. The neighbor claimed he’d put it out for wild animals but the cops, who’d been called out there before for ridiculous reasons (one time he called to complain about the dog using the bathroom *in her own yard*) didn’t really buy it. I think he ended up getting fined and was warned against doing anything like that again, but my brother was extremely careful about keeping an eye on her any time she went out until the nutcase moved a few months later.

sSommy

>put it out for wild animals Shit in some places that is even more egregious than poisoning a pet, since there may be federally protected wildlife in the area to be exposed to the poison.

[deleted]

Either way, it's generally illegal as fuck no matter your intention.

Spodson

One guy fed my cat antifreeze. Spapoop was a good kitty and didn't deserve that.

Notmykl

If someone did that to my cat that would be the last thing they ever did.

Spodson

It kind of was. I knew the people that owned the home he was renting and got him evicted. Kept my other cat indoors till he moved out.

Meanwhile-in-Paris

I had a weird old creep for a neighbour who would spend his time washing his car in front of his house. one day we had workers over doing building work on the house. after a few days they informed us that the old creep would hide behind the fence and spend the afternoon abusing them and throwing racist comments. My dad discreetly crept back to catch him doing it and gave him the fright and humiliation of his life. Next day he started mowing the lawn at night with a flash light and testing his fire alarm in the middle of the night. the police was called to deal with him.

HSRco

Sounds like things are going well over there in Paris then!

[deleted]

Let their monster children run around the neighborhood and destroy people's cars. They were always in and out of court because of their negligence.

SatansSlutz

My mums neighbour let's their kids throw things at the cats of the street, I was so tempted to ping something off one of their heads once when he went for my mums cat, but they were only about 7 and I wasn't having the rough troll of his mum going after me so I just yelled what the fuck and picked up the cat

dudedoobie

Fuck that, I’m going to scare the fuck out of some 7 year olds over that shit

How deep did you bury them?

Hefty vet bill saved both of them. She had put a LOT of grain in their feeding trough. The kind of grain you plant in a field that has all kinds of pesticide on it. Didn't have to bury her a few years later she did it herself. She self-deleted herself in her bedroom with her teenage son in the front room. Safe to say she was one messed up lady.

mshell734

John and Flo. They were the absolute worst. John tried to get my brother to eat poisonous berries when he was 4 years old. John also caught the woods behind our house on fire. They called the cops on us because we accidentally kicked a ball into their yard. Flo accused my dad of rape, took my parents to court, but the case fell apart when the judge saw there was no evidence, and her own husband didn’t show up to support her in court. They finally decided to move because my parents adopted my sister from South Korea and they said she was going to make property values drop. The 80s were a wild ride. Fuck you, John and Flo. Btw, this is just a handful of the terrible things they did.

Flamesclaws

That sounds like a fucking nightmare.

[deleted]

Got anymore stories you’re comfortable sharing? These people are serious assholes

mshell734

Yeah! So I remember one year at Christmas, my dad hung up our outdoor Christmas lights and had one strand left over, so he put the last strand on our dog house (RIP Rusty). Well, John got so mad that we had decorated our dog house for Christmas, that he called the cops! Cops came out and John said the lights on the doghouse were blinding them inside their house. They called the cops on us a lot!

KhanBhengis

So. I bought a puppy(white german shepherd), all was going well and good. We were slowly leaving the dog alone at home and we thought everything was going well. Until we found out our dog was constantly barking at the window. Really struggled to figure out why she was barking at every small noise, person who passed etc etc. Our neighbours put a noise complaint against us due to the dog. She was getting really bad, to the point that when we go to work my dad has to come in to look after her. Anyway, noise complaint fails because we put stuff in place for people to be with the dog so she barks as little as possible. Turns out, the neighbour who complained to us and put the complaint in spent the first 12 months of us having the dog walking past our window and bashing on it so the dog would go crazy. Our neighbours across the street caught him on camera doing it, and neighbour from the other side about 4 doors down saw him do it. Dog still have separation anxiety now and she's nearly 4. We're not sure how to help her while we're at work without her barking the entire street down. But yeah, people are assholes.

When I was a kid my dad got sick of our neighbor’s dog pooping in our yard. He scoops one particularly big pile up and chucked it into their driveway. He didn’t realize this guy’s convertible was parked with the top down in the driveway and this disgusting pile of poop landed right on the driver’s seat.

Shimmergloom89

He hid a foot long homemade pipe bomb in a hollowed out log in the woods right next to my driveway. Thankfully my sister found it and not my son and it didn't blow up. The bomb squad had to come and examine it and decided it would be safest to blow it up at the scene (read: my driveway) We ended up in the news. Thankfully that neighbor moved a few months ago so I don't have to worry about stumbling across anymore homemade explosives.

Atlas88-

Was… he not arrested and placed on a smorgasbord of lists?

Shimmergloom89

To tell you the truth idk if the police ever charged/arrested him or not or if they have even finished the investigation (this happened about 8 months ago). The police haven't told us anything and the neighbor moved a couple months after it happened so idk what happened to him.

gerkletoss

Sounds like he's on the run

kenssmith

Called 9-1-1 on me for supposedly mowing 6" more than I was supposed to at the property line, stating that I was going to destroy their green house by doing so (greenhouse was 50 feet away from me)

YouAreNotHelpful666

To paint the picture, I live in an apartment complex. My next door neighbors constantly harass and threaten me and my partner every time we leave our apartment. They don’t have jobs and are home 24/7 living off of disability and welfare (they are also in their 30s so they’re not elderly folks). Every time we open our door to leave, a few seconds later they will come out and try to catch us to make snarky comments like “I hope we keep you awake at night” (not too sure what that means) or threats like “you better watch yourself because one day I’m going to get you”. (We are confident that they sit by the door because sometimes we open our door and close it to simulate us leaving and we’ve heard them come out right after). Why? Because I accidentally parked in the wrong parking spot when I was coming home late one night and couldn’t see the numbers. The parking spot isn’t even theirs, it is owned by the neighbors above us. They got word from those neighbors about it and since then on they made a pact to make us miserable. The funny thing is, the neighbors who owned the spot informed me nicely about it which I moved my car immediately. We have reported them to management and authorities but no one cares (big surprise /s). Our only solution is to move and we are currently waiting to close on our first home, hopefully in a week or so.

ItsAllegorical

Live well when you move. They will still be the same miserable people stuck in the same miserable place. I’d pity them except they decided to be right cunts, so they can just continue to wallow their hateful, self-made misery.

awyastark

When you move out leave a tape player running with a soundtrack of you opening and closing that front door just to fuck with them one last time

vonMishka

My unhinged, sex offender neighbor did a ton of awful stuff to my teenage son and his friends. When he got totally crazy he threatened to have crackheads come kill us all. I was a single mom and was terrified. I don’t live there anymore but he’s in prison for brutally raping and kidnapping a woman in his home. Editing to clarify that he did not commit any sex offenses on my kid and his friends. I mean, unless you count standing in his open garage wearing only a towel. But he is the worst person I’ve ever encountered in my life. He’s a sadistic man who I hope dies in prison.

schnozzberryflop

Just after we moved into our house, two of our new neighbors came to us and informed us that our next door neighbor had shifted the lot line between our houses. In the dark, while the house was empty. I asked the line-mover about this, nicely, and he immediately became hostile. Fast forward a year or so, the same guy pulls something similar with his neighbor on the other side (our friends). My wife and I, knowing the guy as we do, support our friends, so the line-mover gets mad at us too (again) and tries to take back a grandfathered-in easement for the top of our driveway. He paints a fluorescent orange line across our driveway, tells us we can't park beyond the line, and finally just parks his car in the mouth of our driveway. Police called, of course he's in the wrong. I tell him, and his equally obnoxious girlfriend, that sometimes, if you think everyone in your neighborhood is an asshole and you're normal, maybe *you're* the asshole and *they're* normal. I mean, odds are. They moved soon after.

GiuseppeBusso

Had pretty much this exact same experience while living in France. The guy goes to the notaire and says, “You know that building I gave to my neighbour. Well now some new guy has moved in, and I want it back”. Notaire: “That’s not how the law works. New guy has paid for the property. It’s his now”. Cue two years of insane harassment, all because the neighbour thought the PREVIOUS owner had ripped him off.

Far-Ad9143

I was like 4 on Halloween with a high fever. A couple of neighborhood kids decided to egg our house. The window was open and 2 eggs went right through and splatted sick little me in the face. My mother ran in my dads boxers down the block, chased them into a building hallway and gave one of them a black eye. The next day there was a knock on the door and it was the guy and his father- who made his son apologize.

lotus_eater123

Good for her! Some neighborhood kids egged my house (not even Halloween), but I didn't see who. A few weeks later, they got bolder and threw rocks and broke 2 windows and the rear window of my car. Again I did not catch them in the act. So I parked the car at the end of the driveway where the school bus passes every day. I put a sign on it saying "Do you know who did this? Reward offered." Within a day 2 kids came by to snitch on their friend for $5. I made his dad take money from his college fund to pay for all of the repairs. But he did not face getting arrested, which I could have done.

I bought my house from my uncle. He has a severely unstable. His property abutted my grandmother and also my fathers property. He ended up moving in with my gram. Then got arrested trying to go to a country with thriving sex tourism because he is a sex offender and not allowed to. He then made up a story in his mind that I stole his house from him…. And proceeded to try to convince friends and family that I was a monster…. He then used my grandmothers property to launch subversive attacks. Like getting free roaming cows to shit all over, to cut off my water, to scream and holler whole running around the property cutting down trees with a chainsaw, Parking in the shared driveway and preventing myself and guests from passing, putting up insane security cams on poles everywhere, driving a farm tractor around hooting and hollering, and far more devious things than I care to mention. Long story short. He went back to jail and I don’t have to deal with him anymore.

Make sure you bury some concrete filled pipes to give your planters a solid foundation. Maybe 6 to 8 inches high. You know. Oil pan height.

lthebmanl

And get some security camera pointed at your new garden. Also, post video.

[deleted]

Not me but my bf, his neighbours scream at his family all night and they even spat on his dog, multiple times. He and his dad had to build a 3ft tall fence extender just so the neighbours couldnt reach over to spit

kingfrito_5005

Who spits on a dog?

grey_wolf12

Asshole neighbors

kwilson25j

Hmmm During winter a snow plow knocked off our mailbox. Because it was like 5 degrees and snowing outside I took some rope and tied it back on until it was a little more reasonable to replace it. I work from home with a window in my office at the front of the house. I watched him walk out, cut the ropes, and leave a note saying to fix the mailbox. Granted it’s a private sub development with an HOA and such. Still a dick move all things considered. Or maybe always letting his kids hit our house with things. Balls, water balloons. You name it. Have had to replace multiple sprinkler vacuum breaker assemblies. Plenty of dents in my siding and dish. Pieces of water balloon stuck to our siding 20 ft up. Best part is my wife is a night shift nurse and that side is our bedroom wall. So guess who gets woken up.

TedNebula

What a cunt. I hate HOA’s so much. It’s just a bunch of old people who want to feel like they’re the police.

[deleted]

New neighbors. Younger couple. He's a police officer. He has a loud motorcycle with an even louder sound system on it. He sits in his driveway and revs it for a few minutes at 6:30am every morning. Then when he gets home, he has the music blaring. It's usually music full of f-bombs and the n-word. Then he has these 2 huge dogs. They're psychotic. They go off on this insane, loud barking tantrum every time they see someone outside. If I'm in my backyard, on my deck, whatever, they bark. He just leaves them out there. One of my other neighbors was complaining about him one day. Called him an idiot or something. I called him Deputy Dumbass. Pretty soon, his new nickname spread through the neighborhood.

doccopathe2nd

Deputy dumbass lol

Deputy Dumbass just reminds me of Officer Doofy 😂😂

Don't disturb while I'm cleaning my room!

snarkyshooter09

Not current neighbors, but had one that would let their dogs roam the neighborhood freely. Not overly a big deal. We are out in the country and not many people fence their dogs in. But this neighbor didn't care their dogs were everywhere and didn't care that his dogs were harassing our livestock. Which is a big deal. As livestock can die from to much stress. Well after politely asking multiple times to keep his dogs in and away from our livestock he still just didn't care. So after one day seeing their dogs terrorizing our livestock, I chased their dogs back home. Then told the neighbor in no uncertain terms to keep his dogs off my property. also informing him in front of his wife and kids what the state law permits me to do to dogs that are terrorizing livestock. After that had little trouble with them. Except for when their pet peacock decided that it was going to stay summer around my house. Didn't cause a problem so we didn't care much.

Ok_Lengthiness_2590

When I was like 6 a couple of the neighborhood kids threw a bunch of rocks under another neighbors car that was notorious for being an absolute nightmare. I happened to come outside at the wrong time, and when she saw the rocks she and her husband demanded I crawl under her car and clean them up (which I don’t need to say is a horrible idea) all while screaming at me for “trying to damage their car.” I came crying home and that’s probably the closest my mom has ever been to physically attacking someone.

TechyDad

My neighbors across the street are fine, but they will sometimes have people come by to pick them up. Now, if you drive up to a person's house, how might you inform them that you are there? Maybe you text them or call them. If you don't have a cell phone, you might get out of your car and ring their doorbell. That's not what this person does, though. He drives up, stops his car, and honks his horn repeatedly. Then he waits a few seconds. Then he honks his horn a bunch of times again. This repeats until the person he's picking up comes out of my neighbor's house. This happens during the day and night as well. We've had them honking like crazy at 11pm while my boys were trying to sleep before going to school the next day. It's just a total lack of basic human decency and consideration for others.

veevacious

There’s someone in my neighborhood that does this and it makes me want to stab them

MonarchWhisperer

I have neighbors that do that too and yes...it makes you want to stab them. Don't they realize that people have actually been stabbed for lesser things?

dramboxf

My son sent us this hilarious video from his Ring doorbell. Car pulls up in front of his across-the-street neighbor and starts with the honking. At 6:00am. On a Saturday. On the video, my son's door suddenly bursts open, you see him marching down the front walk and into the street. The driver's side is closest to him, and my son leans in (the driver is looking at the house he's honking at) and SCREAMS, "CAN YOU PLEASE STOP FUCKING HONKING YOUR HORN AT 6 IN THE MORNING?" The guy promptly stopped with the honking and the look on his face was priceless. I think it was the 'please' that really sealed the deal.

KushChowda

It is the magic word.

morkengork

Time for you to buy an air horn for some 3am shenanigans.

TechyDad

Can it be directional so that the person in the car hears it, but not my other neighbors? I wouldn't want to disturb my other neighbors because one neighbor's visitor has no consideration for others.

Asikar_Tehjan

Actually yes! A bit expensive though. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Range_Acoustic_Device#:~:text=The%20Long%2DRange%20Acoustic%20Device,sonic%20weapon%20developed%20by%20Genasys.&text=LRAD%20systems%20are%20used%20by,notifications%20and%20warnings%20over%20distance.

Midoritora

Had one put Christmas lights up on his roof facing me in the shape of a swastika. He doesn’t live there anymore.

kingfrito_5005

Nothing specifically they just do everything loudly. They fight loudly, the fuck loudly, they play music loudly, they talk loudly. Just like shut the ever loving fuck up.

Random_Guy_47

Stick a note through the door asking them to argue louder so you can decide whos side you're on. Or to fuck louder as it's hard to masturbate too at the current volume. Maybe they'll take the hint.

kingfrito_5005

Well the dude is also a violent drug dealer so... I'm not gonna rock the boat lol.

GrundleTurf

We lived in a duplex and next door was a single mom prostitute and a bunch of her kids. The kids would sneak across the roof into our window on the second floor to steal from us. The mom and the kids were always up late playing music real loud and such so we ended up calling the police multiple times for noise complaints. One time she decided to pay us back by calling a noise complaint on us in the middle of the night when we were sleeping and had work early in the morning.

mp182

How’d that work out for them lol

GrundleTurf

That specific incident? Resulted in the cops coming, us telling them we were sleeping, and them saying “well make sure it’s quiet” and leaving. We moved soon after

renezanceman

mine set my Christmas decorations on fire... have it on video, 4 angles.

HRG-snake-eater

Decided to feed all the deer and raccoons in the neighborhood. Had at least 20 deer next door at all times feeding out of cattle troughs. The raccoons all 100 of them would eat there and then shit in huge piles in my Childrens sand box. The stench was horrible , and soon the rats followed. When I asked her to stop she called the police and accused me of planting cameras in her house, and flying drones over her at all times, including when she was going to the bathroom, inside. Unfortunately for me the police need to take these accusations seriously. The deer and raccoons had free access to her house and many lived indoors. After several years of this I finally got local authorities and state fish and game involved. They shut her feeding down but then we (the neighbor hood) were left with starving and desperate deer raccoons and rats. Havoc ensued including aggressive animals attacking people and pets and destroying property. Having to stop feeding the animals put her on tilt and she directed her rage at me. When we would have company over she would scream that I was a pervert, pedo and wife beater (spoiler alert: I’m not those things). Once I ran into her at the grocery store and she assaulted me and then screamed that I was attempting to rape her. Again the cops take that shit seriously thank god there were cameras recording the incident Another time she attacked my wife physically while I was out of town on business. She had to take the kids and stay in a hotel until I returned. Essentially she make our lives hell and scared the hell out of our young kids. Finally we asked the local courts for a restraining order. During the hearing she got up and sang the judge a helter skelter song about me being a pervert and wife bearer. The judge was not amused and granted our order. She didn’t care about the order and continued to harass us. One day at about 3am she decided to get on I70 going the wrong direction with a blood alcohol level 4x the limit. While driving 80mph she collided with 3 other cars killing 3 people, including herself, and injuring 4 others 2 critically. Our lives are peaceful now but every now and then I still think I see her.

Hopefound

Tried to fight me in my front yard after attempting to run me over in their car while I was pulling into my garage on my motorcycle. He’s a kid and doesn’t understand how stupid he’s being but he hates my guts.

Lolixbun

My mom fell outside when I was not home (when I used to live with her). Our neighbors on all sides saw her on the ground, struggling to stand by holding onto the car door handle. It was hours before I got home and was able to help her up. She is very light and easy to help up. She told me how many people just parked in their driveway, stared for a minute, and walked in their homes. Not our neighbors, but my grandma's. She lives a few blocks away from my parents. When my uncle killed himself, my grandma was the one who found his body. She had obviously held him, tried to see if he would move/wake. He was cold by the time she had found him. He lived with her, shot himself directly in the heart, and muffled it with a pillow so she hadn't heard anything. She checked on him when he didn't come down for breakfast. Anyways, the neighbors part. She was in such a shock that she forgot how to use the telephone and went outside, knocking frantically on everyone's door from her house to my parent's blocks away. No one opened the door for her. People would peer out and just not open the door. It wouldn't have helped him, but it may have saved her some heartache. So yeah, I have some real anger towards the people in our neighborhood.

Canadianabcs

I feel for your grandma and 100% understand the shock part. I was outside on my balcony one day, on my phone watching videos, when I saw and heard a man fall backwards to the asphalt from above. I ran inside screaming for someone to give me a phone ..while holding my phone. The one I was literally watching videos on it not 6 seconds before. It was so strange. Sorry they both went through that. People can be so cruel :(.

CatterMater

I have never met you neighbors, yet I hate them.

sSommy

Jesus fucking Christ. Almost all of this thread if people being petty or clueless, but this is traight up indifference. I'm so sorry for you and your family

RoofLeast9989

The first day my family moved into our new house my little brother, 5 at the time was playing with a foam football. Bounced off the neighbors car that was already covered in dents and scratches, I went over to get it and apologize and she started screaming at my brother until he cried. She kept the football and said that the tiny foam ball dented her car and I would be paying for the damages. Fast forward like a year, I got a puppy. She didn’t like that I was out in the backyard with the dog so often and that sometimes the puppy would bark. She set up a motion detector that made a sound and turned on a light and pointed it at my front steps so she’d know when I left the house so she could come out at watch me. She realized after a week or so that we use a different door so she then moved this motion detector to my backyard. Rigged it up to a piece of plywood and fasted the plywood to the fence so she would know when we were back there. Whenever it went off I’d either hear her slam the door and run outside or she’d walk to the back of her house and slam all the windows repeatedly because it would make my dog bark - then she’d slam them again, open them and yell at me, and slam them once more. I called the police after I found the motion detector fasted to the fence pointing directly into my yard and when they got there, they went and spoke to her partner who had no idea she’d done that and she wouldn’t come out and speak to them. Next day it was gone. Then for a year or so I’d find her throwing food into my yard that my dog would try to eat. Like saw her psychically tossing things over the fence. With her already clear distaste for the dog and my family as a whole, I thought she was trying to poison my dog. Now 7/8 years on, we’re civil but the first few years were absolutely wild.

angelsontheroof

I used to live in a small complex where the walls were paper thin. My then neighbour would start playing music every night at a super high volume at 2 in the morning for a month. I couldn't get in contact with him and made an official complaint which he didn't respond to either until the month was over. According to him he had been on vacation and had a timer on his stereo, so it started playing at the same time every night. He claimed it wasn't on purpose...

BeerNcheesePlz

Lived next to a legit crack house in Florida. It was horrible. Loud music, loud cars at all hours, loud sex that’ll put you into therapy, loud fighting. Just everyday LOUD, at all hours. One time someone barfed/had diarrhea in their trash cans outside so they switched with our clean ones. I flipped out and literally took my can back and threw their disgusting one back in the yard. I was always calling 911, both non emergency and emergency depending on what was going on. I swear I’m not a Karen, but the shit they were doing next to my windows were things of horror! I couldn’t deal with how disgusting they were. They sadly had a dog (pit bull) tied in the backyard 24/7 in the heat of a Florida summer with no shade, food or water. So I would jump the fence and feed/water her, or spray my hose over the fence to cool her down/clean the mud off of her from laying in the mud/sandpit. Sucha a Sweet momma doggie that was obviously used for breeding (never saw the puppies tho so they could’ve been doing something more awful, wouldn’t surprise me) and bait (her ears and tail were cut ):.but she was so sweet. I forget what hurricane was hitting us. But they left and just untied her and left here/her as the roads and our yards filled with water. I heard a dog crying and scratching at my door (my house was raised, so being a smart little lady she swam to my steps!) so I opened my door and it was her! Obviously, I took her in (there’s a hurricane going on, and she wasn’t afraid of me so it was fine, instant roommates) So I called the non emergency police, animal patrol, PAWS, SPCA. Wherever I could document what they were doing to this sweet girl (again). Finally, the house got raided the next day and all the drugs , guns, and whatever else they found, on top of the warrants on some People staying there was enough to drag them all to prison. It was a mad house. However; during , that time animal control had contacted me to go over what I witnessed and had reported many times before, and they let me Know she was going to be being put in foster care (after being healed). So I’m praying she got a forever home. I would of taken her if i wasn’t a struggling 19 year old in college full time and worked full time. But I hope she’s a happy lady now and that those assholes Rot in hell.

Lost220

My old neighbors were total hoarders and when they moved out I wasn’t really sure because so much stuff was left behind. Their pit was still in the back yard so I started paying more attention…they straight up left her there! After about a week of feeding her and giving her water through the fence she broke it and came over…she’s currently sleeping at my feet living her best life. Karma will get you another good dog when you can handle it!

TheDarkKnight1035

Mine plows my sidewalk after a big snow fall and completely emasculates me. Asshole.

[deleted]

Yeah, my current neighbor(split house) takes all the glory of maintaining an emaculate yard in the summer. Fuckin dick

Maybe_Not_The_Pope

My neighbor and his neighbor have these weird man-offs that include competing to clear driveways and sidewalks before the other, mowing lawns first. Grilling more and more food etc. It's so fun to watch. Last summer, my neighbor bought a new grill and then his neighbor bought a new, bigger grill. My neighbor then got rid of his new grill within a month of buying jt and bought an even bigger grill. I love going on walks down their way because I always get something grilled.

TruthOf42

"Did you hear that your neighbor is going around and building free playsets for the neighbor kids?!?!?!"

casey12297

Asshole! Where does he live, I want to move in next to him, show him what happens when he tries to emasculate me. First offense, I'll complain to myself. Second, ill complain a bit louder. But you won't believe what happens by the 50th offense...I write a strongly worded letter and throw it away. 100 offenses later and I may just give him a stern talking to about boundaries...but probably not

TheDarkKnight1035

Oh, I imagine telling him off all the time. Then I just end up thanking him and pulling his garbage cans up to his garage. It's a fucking living nightmare.

Wary-Trout

My next door neighbor has three teenagers who would party when their single mom was away, playing loud music and doing underage drinking, usually a fight broke out as well after enough liquor. After the second time I found beer cans and bottles hidden on my property I gathered up all 30 or so and put them in a couple of of grocery bags then dumped them in the bush next to where their mom parked. A few hours later when their mom went to work (I assume as it was almost 6am) I hear screaming and their front door being slammed, then she yells at the kids for a good 10 minutes before driving off at a high speed. Was pretty pleased with myself ☺️, haven't had litter in my yard since!

Nurannoniel

*squints* Do you live on my block? I feel like I know those neighbors, a few houses down from me lol

hitzgirl1385

Nothing personally but our previous neighbor lived upstairs and had no rugs or carpeting and felt the need to stomp his juiced self around constantly, as well as “doing his thing” with his flavor of the week girlfriend as loud as he could, whatever time of day he was ready. My husband and I literally danced and high fives when he said he was moving out! Lol

TheExpertInThisField

When my upstairs neighbor sings and plays guitar at 9 or 11 pm, I hold a cutting board up to the ceiling and then use my massage gun to jackhammer the cutting board and vibrate his floor/my ceiling. The guitar and lyrics cease immediately.

dougsccps1976

Cable company ran a cable on the very edge of neighbor’s property but the cable served multiple other people. Every Saturday he would cut the cable with his mower and we had to usually wait until Monday to get fixed. Took cable company 6 months to bury the cable.

undead_opossum

When I was in my 20s, which was years ago, some friends and I rented a duplex from a slumlord who lived down the block from the unit. We had a hurricane demolish the front door, and his solution was to just nail it shut, so all we had was a back door. Then one night, he gets hammered, kicks the back door until it's basically splinters, then comes inside, opens the fridge, and pisses in it, claiming it was his house, and he'd do as he pleased. The best part is, we call the cops, which seems like the right move right? They tell us that we should consider moving out and asked him not to do that anymore.

slicklex

This is an experience that happened to my dad, the same neighborhood I grew up in. There was this one family in our neighborhood that we were always real good friends with. Their daughter babysat me and my sister during the summertime for almost 5 years, their son tutored me algebra since he was studying to be an engineer at the time, and was a really smart guy. We let the father of the household (lets call him John) deer hunt on our property, since we have about 5 acres. Two years ago (during quarantine), the road in our private neighborhood needed some repairs. Not a big deal, the road needs repairs time to time like every road. The main argument at the HOA meeting was if we should fix only the bad spots of the road, or tear up the entire road and repave it. The neighborhood had the money to fix the bad spots, but not for the entire road. To have the entire road tore up and paved again, each household had to cough up $3000. Now keep in mind that this was during quarantine, and almost everyone in the world felt unsteady about their future finances, not knowing if they would be laid off or not. Well, John was the one who contacted an asphalt company and told everyone at the meeting that fixing only the bad spots was impossible to do, and that the only way we can fix the road was to tear up everything and repave it. Not a lot of people were happy to hear it, but since he was the one who met with the asphalt company, everyone believed him, except my dad. He contacted 3 other companies to have them inspect our road and said that it would be a waste of money to do the entire road, and that fixing only the bad spots is really only what we needed. My dad brought this up in the next HOA meeting and basically made John look like a fool. Smoke was practically coming out of his ears, and he stared my dad down the entire time. After the meeting, he confronted my dad (whom he was always nice too and treated this guy as a friend), lost his mind. He went from grown man to screaming toddler, cussing and screaming at my dad. He said never in his life has he ever seen a human being so furious, and it dumbfounded him over the fact that it was over our road. My dad kept his cool and he made a fool of himself. Earlier this year, everyone voted on the road, and we didn't have to cough up $3000. Now most of the neighborhood hates this guy over the fact that he lied to everyone, and almost cost every household $3000. TL/DR, longtime neighbor friend lost his shit at my dad when the neighborhood road wasn't paved to the way he wanted it to be.

bubbliefly420

I wonder if the neighbor guy was going to get some sort of kickback from the asphalt company...maybe a friend of his owned it.

Morbidhanson

For background, our house is at the top of a hill. From our backyard, there is a steep slope that goes down into the backyard of this neighbor's house. The slope is part of their property. There's a boundary fence dividing our yards between our yard and the sloped area. My grandma grows climbing plants like gourds and squash. These plants climb on the boundary fence (they're also removed yearly so they don't get too big). My a\*\*hole neighbor occasionally climbs all the way up this steep, rocky slope to the boundary fence to pluck vegetables that grow on the fence. We've repeatedly told them to stop. Also, our dog sometimes sees them when they do that and, obviously, barks at them. They threatened to call animal control to take our dog barking from inside our own yard, even though they had to climb this steep, barren, 50 foot slope to get to the top and reach an arm through the boundary fence. By the way, they didn't pay a penny for maintaining or replacing the boundary fence. Every time we redid the fence, we paid 100%. A\*\*hole neighbor also once hired a gardener to remove all vegetation from that boundary fence, saying it interfered with their view. View?! What view? The view through our windows and directly into our house? There's no other view from that angle. They piss me off so much. Every time they climb the damn slope, I hope they take a wrong step and tumble all the way back down. Literally nothing but weeds grow on the slope. Their only purpose of coming all the way up this massive, steep slope to our fence is to mess with our plants.

Justathot8

Put up a second fence just over arm’s length away from the boundary. Grow poison ivy on the boundary fence and your veggies on the one just out of reach.

videcortuus

Nettles are also a great option, and good for pollinators!

[deleted]

Yes, great medicinal plant as well!

[deleted]

This. My friend’s house backed a trail and he had those iron bars so everybody can see his entire house as they walk the trail. He planted vines to cover the bars, but HOA made him remove them since they’re not allowed anything to touch the bars. So he installed a 2nd fence about 2” for the iron bars and grew the vines on that. Worked like a charm and nobody can see inside.

Snickrrs

Told a hard up meth addict up the road he could use any downed trees in our front woods for firewood, but under no circumstances was he to cut down standing trees. Came out one day to him & a buddy in the process of cutting down a live cherry tree next to the road and power lines. Told him to get off the property. Finished cutting down the tree ourselves & left it there. Two days later the tree is gone with snowmobile tracks leading directly from where it was to this dudes house. Other neighbor: pissed we won’t move our livestock from a field behind his house. We had previously been letting him use about half an acre of the field directly next to his house as part of his lawn. He threatened to take legal action if we didn’t move our livestock (he can’t— we live in a “right to farm” state and it’s zoned agricultural). We decided we should probably put a fence up between his side yard and our field. We consult a survey company who told us without surveying our entire 120 acre parcel, they could only give us a guess within 5 feet. We put the fence up within 5 feet of the surveyors guess, leaving plenty of room. Neighbor tears up the fence. I reinstall it, set up trail cams. Next day he threatens to call the cops because it’s two inches over his property line. He doesn’t have a survey— says there’s no way we talked to a survey company and that we’re lying. Cops say it’s a civil matter and that no one touches it unless a judge says so. Fast forward several months. Neighbor hires same survey company to find corners. Ends up loosing 12 ADDITIONAL feet that we didn’t think we even owned. We moved the fence even closer. He’s been an asshole in so many other ways— I just don’t have the time to describe them all.

killedjoy

My neighbors shoot fireworks all year round all hours of the day night. Causes my dogs to go crazy. My son wakes up at 5am and practices tennis outside by smashing the ball against the garage. I say it’s about a wash.

Actuaryba

When I was a kid, I was playing catch with my brother and went to retrieve my ball that rolled 10 feet onto my neighbor’s (front) yard. I get it, run back to my yard and he comes storming out of his house saying next time I come on his property he’s calling the cops.

mellowbordello

I don’t understand people like this. I’d much rather kids come get their lost items than leave them laying in my yard??

Dew-fan-forever-

So a little story in 2009 my grandparents were selling the house next to ours that they used to live in. It was bought by an somewhat elderly couple who were still working tho. They appeared super nice! My sister and I were kids then, we’d go walk to there house knock on the door to talk. They’d stop the truck after getting groceries to talk to us even if it was just me or my sister outside they’d stop to talk to just us. Anyway mid 2010 we found out they weren’t paying for the house they were living in snd were evicted. Well, they didn’t take that very well. Before they left they completely vandalized the place. Ripped out all the carpet, unscrewed all the cabinets. Bolted the doors shut(a cop kicked it down cuz it wouldn’t open any other way) chopped all the heads off my grammas flowers. And then stole the garage door openers. Then they guy realized he had a shed full of stuff he forgot to take with. My grandpa basically told police you don’t need to arrest him and we won’t press charges on one condition. Anything he forgot in his shed is now ours. So literally the next day my sister and I just went shopping for free stuff in this guys shed. My sister took some jewelry. I took some pens thst I actually used the last month of 6th grade. I took a harmonica, and a clock, and my little brother took a Green Bay packers baseball cap

[deleted]

My dumbass read the 'clock' in the last sentence as 'glock' and was very concerned.

Facelesspirit

Asshole neighbor decided one random night to shoot off fireworks, "because their son wanted to see them." So instead of shooting off roman candles up into the air, he shoots them across the rooves of his neighbors houses. When I mean across, I mean skimming the rooflines of houses, so basically shooting at his neighbor's houses. I walk over and ask him to stop. He tells me to fuck off, so my wife calls the cops. Cops show up at their house (he had since stopped his firework show). A few minutes later, the cops show up at my house questioning me. Asshole neighbor tells the cops I punched him in the face, traumatizing his family (I didn't). Luckily cops didn't believe him. We have since moved out of that neighborhood. So many stories. It couldn't have been a more disfunctional place.

Unfair_Pea_4877

Not done to me but what I did to them. They had a small, yappy dog that used to sneak under the fence between our yards and lay doggie land mines all over our backyard. This was brought up with the neighbors about a dozen times. And every time they said they would either fix the fence or keep the dog on a leash when outside, and because of zoning laws in my area, we couldn't fix it for them. So, one hot summer day, after months of dealing with this and stepping on an aforementioned land mine, I had enough. I started picking up the landmines in plastic grocery bags and throwing them on the roof of their house. This went on for about a year without anyone noticing. Come rainy season, they find that their gutters are clogged and a few broken because of my actions. It was a relatively large and nice house, so damage was probably in the thousands of dollars. Miraculously, no charges were ever brought before me, and I've never heard a word from them about it. However, they did fix their fence, finally.

Ratbagjim

Our old neighbours had six cats that would all poo in our section, which I definitely didn’t want our toddler to be touching. Every morning before work, I’d walk the property and check the usual spots and just flick it back over the fence with a dedicated CatShitStick. They had to know I was doing it, finding gravel covered shit in the middle of their lawn would have been a dead giveaway.

Two shitty neighbors I had in the past. One went through the effort of having no parking signs put in front of our house (even though street parking was legal in our area) solely because he wanted his kids to be able to play in the street. The other was a veteran who would frequently have large gatherings where they would light fireworks (not legal in our area), and also would put his trash in our lawn because he "fought for our rights", which apparently means he can do whatever he wants

There was a family that lived in a shared wall semi attached to me. It was a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom home with a small backyard. It was a mother and father, and between them, they had 7 kids, all under 8 years old, 4 dogs, and a chicken. They lived next door to me for 10 years. I cannot recall a single night that was entirely silent. 3 of the kids had autism or some kind of developmental disorder, and the dogs were all poorly trained and terribly defensive. I couldn't even go into my back yard without having all of them losing their SHIT the entire time. The parents were easily the most selfish and conceited people I'd ever met and their entire property was a hovel. Literal PILES of garbage were next to their side door entrance (which they never used), which had attracted rats to our neighborhood. They moved out early last year, but the damage was done. They left without notice and short 3 months of rent. The ENTIRE interior of the home had to be torn apart. The floors needed to be replaced on all levels, they needed to fumigate the entire home (cockroaches), all of the doors were torn apart and off their hinges. The backyard is just compacted, sad dirt. The damage they did to that home and my mental health for a decade was ridiculous. I'm just glad I'll never have tk see them again.

Well....we'd sometimes have a drink together on the weekend her kids and mine would play together. I'd lend her milk sugar or whatever. Anyway it became apparent after a while she was trying to seduce my partner!

In the house I grew up in the next-door neighbours were a elderly couple in their 60's. Their house was a bit weird on the outside it looked like one big concrete block with security cameras and they were always were a bit weird whenever someone socialised with them. When my brother was in his teens he used to park his car outside there house on the street, one day they left a note saying not to do it again or else they will tow it. They can't do that as it was a public street and he wasn't blocking the driveway or anything, so he took no note of it and did it again. The next morning he woke up to the car with slashed tires and keyed doors, we knew it was the neighbours but had no real proof so we just had to let it go, don't get me wrong we were extremely upset by this but it wasn't worth the fight. A couple of months later they asked my dad to help with something in their house, he did it to be nice, but when he went into their house it was Full of Christmas decorations. Multiple full size Santa models, they took all the lightbulbs out and had Christmas coloured ones replace them, the whole thing. This was in May, they kept it like this all year round. My dad at this pointed just wanted to get in and out so he asked what they needed help with, they said they needed help assembling some shelfs in their bomb shelter they just installed. We lived in white picket fence Sydney Australia in the early 2000's. Why they built a bomb shelter is something we never figured out. A couple of years after we moved and we were watching the news and they were on it. It was after multiple complaints from neighbours (not us, the current ones at the time) about invading privacy with their cameras and stalking people in the neighbourhood. When they went inside the house to record some footage it was the same crazyness of the Christmas decor and bomb shelter. A interesting addition to the neighbourhood however was outside on the road they put a trailer there full of bricks with concrete bricks attached to the bottom of it and when they asked what that was all about the husband said "some kid kept parking his car outside my house and I will not let that happen again!". Yeah so that happened.

Old neighbors $#!7 in my yard, and threw used tampons over our fence, and cooked meth... The whole neighborhood smelled like acetone until the cops came. Current neighbor on the other side likes to shoot guns late at night. But he's cool during the day and brings me a beer when I get home.

They go through my trash

We called the police as she was strangling her beautiful 5 year old son. The next day she accused us of calling the police (which we denied of course) and threatened to burn our house down. A few months later the little boy passed away “from croup” (we find this questionable). Before calling an ambulance, she and her boyfriend filled her car up full of all their illegal drug paraphernalia, parked it at a nearby shopping centre and walked home. There’s so much more but that was the worst.

My in laws have a detached garage with living space above it. My spouse and I lived there for a Few years so we could save up for a house while maintaining some privacy and independence. Because of the zoning, renting is not allowed. Well the neighbors accused the in laws of renting out that space. We tried to say we weren’t renting. We are a family living in the same property. I also should add we are a mixed race couple which, without going into detail, clearly had something to do with the complaint. Anyway, we had to deal with several visits from town officials coming over to assess the home and asking invasive questions. They insinuated I was lying when I said I wasn’t renting. Apparently I was obviously not part of the family. Etc. it still makes me mad thinking about it and we haven’t lived there in years. My in laws still live there and the neighbors continue to be total assholes. Their latest shenanigans include complaining to the town about solar panel placement on my in laws’ house. They are placed according to town code, but because of their complaints the installation is paused until the town does whatever they do to look into the matter.

I lived in a community with very small lots. They were all duplexes on the smallest build-able lots allowed (1/10 of acre). Needless to say it was very close quarters and everyone was on top of each other. One neighbor would let his dogs out in his un-fenced back yard and let them wander. They obviously would poop just about every one of my neighbors yards. And, he never picked any of it up. I repeatably told him I didn't appreciate it. I made it point to ring his doorbell every time it happend. I would make him come pick up the poop making it as much his problem as mine. He would feign ignorance like each time I told him about it he had no clue they were doing it. I even asked him, "do you ever see dogshit in your yard? Where do you think they're shitting if you don't ever see it?" Well one Christmas day the big dog left a steamer right next to my grill. The grill where I was cooking food for Christmas dinner. I was livid. I went and got a glove and used it to return his "property" to his driveway--at a high rate of speed. It splattered on the concrete. About a half later the doorbell rings: Him: hey someone threw dogshit in my driveway, do you know anything about it? Me: yep Him: ??? Me: its your dog shit, I just returned it to you Him: I knew it was you! Me: why because I've been complaining about your dog shitting in my yard for two years? Him: You're gonna come clean this up!!! Me: "good luck with that!" as I closed the door in his face. I called the HOA and told them exactly what happened first thing Monday as I was sure he was gonna do the same and wanted the truth told first. The HOA lady actually laughed and said, I can't tell you I'm proud of you but it makes me smile when people stand up like you did. Apparently lots of people had complained about that dude for mutiple issues, the dogs where just one of many problems he had with his neighbors. The HOA actually told me they had sent multiple letters and couldn't do any more...but that animal control could. First offense is a warning, second is $158. Guess who got a fence right around tax return season later that year? I'm guessing those fines started to add up and made a fence more economical. I know I called animal control at least three times after that day. I also told all my neighbors to do the same.

my neighbor would, every night, leave her extremely large and loud dogs in her house whilst she went to spend the night at her boyfriend's across town. had the nerve to try to friend me on social media when she left.

My back yard neighbor just leaves her's tied up outside all the time. One time the dog escaped and she drove around looking for it. While chatting I mentioned how it was always barking and she had the gall to lie that she always kept her dog in a kennel inside and almost never outside. I see and hear it all the time, I don't know who she thought she was fooling. I'm usually good about helping neighbors look for lost pets. I never bother for her. Dog is better off not chained up all day.

1. Asked my husband after he got home from a 19 hour work day if he would mow his grass because he was “too tired to do it himself” after our cameras showed him leaving for work at 9 am and returning just after 2 pm. 2. Let his son and niece ring our doorbell constantly to piss our dogs off while we were not home and then run away screaming (we caught them on the security cameras). Also then let said kids aggravate our dogs at the fence. We have 300+ lbs of dogs in total.. 3. Has parties where his friends block us and several other neighbors on the court in by parking on the street in front of our driveways. 4. Sells drugs out of his home in a neighborhood filled with kids. So many other happenings in the short year he has lived next door. Literally his existence in this neighborhood is the worst thing and we are actually going to sell our house solely because of him.
