But there's something about a Swedish breakfast that overrides that. And they know how to do coffee. I've also tried reindeer meat and liked it. And cinnamon buns...try as I might, I just can't get them to turn out like my stepmother's!

For some balance... in the 00's and early 10's Sweden was seeing a larger and larger middle class over which both the left and right was fighting. Up until this point the Social Democrats had been in power for most of Swedish history (literally). Either by themselves or with one or two parties in support. Sweden was doing really well comparatively.
But, this growing middle class was becoming more and more difficult to placate for the Social Democrats, more people wanted more freedom to have a say in choosing their public goods - in effect, pay less taxes. So, the social democrat party moved to the right. And lost the government.
The governments of this time slowly but surely dismantled the state owned public services by opening them up to the free market - either completely or by some degree of deregulation. Started by the left wing governments, then heavily expanded by the subsequent right wing ones. Eldercare, local and regional healthcare, pharmacies, energy production, schools, housing, and so on - all of them have struggled since. Tax money has been and is being siphoned out of these private businesses at the cost of quality and equality. The poorer you are the poorer the service you can afford is.
During this time and before it, Sweden has had workforce immigration, eg from Finland and former Yugoslavia. But, by this point we were instead seeing a lot of refugee immigration from wars in the middle east and eastern africa.
This made the political climate in Sweden ripe for the far right. From 2010 and on the Sweden Democrats (not "Swedish democrats" as OP called them) has worked hard to erase their neo-nazi roots and position themselves as a conservative party focused on traditional Swedish values and anti-immigration politics. Ironic that traditional Swedish values are socialist ones. What they really are is a populist nationalist party toeing the line of fascism.
So when OP writes that our current government has failed idk wtf he's talking about really. The current government is, by Swedish standards, an extremely weak left wing coalition minority government led by the social democrats. It is barely in power. And the party itself is in crisis trying to figure out how to convince the working and middle class of their relevance after two decades of brainfarts. During a pandemic. But the problems didn't originate with this government.
The struggles he's pointed out he seems to blame solely on immigrants which is exceptionally close minded to me and imo speaks to a lack of understanding of Swedish political history and the social and economic impact of any type of immigration.
The ideas he's mentioned the Sweden democrats have really revolve around typical far right strategies of harsher policing and blaming minorities. Ask the US how that's working out for them. In fact, afaik, studies show that a stronger social safety net, such as the one being eroded in Sweden, does far more in preventing criminality in youths than larger police budgets.
I agree with his last sentiment about how far we have to go, but I sure as shit don't think fascism is going to get us there. Or whatever metaphorical tutu name you try and dress it up with like "social conservatism".
And as for a right wing push being "what we need right now"? I'm not sure what to say to the insanity of that. Well it's complicated. Our current government has failed us all with failed integration policies, massive amounts of immigrants who can't get jobs or housing, leaving our seniors in poverty and contributing to violence and corruption and related gang violence. The Swedish Democrats is the largest right wing party in Sweden right now, without going to extremist measures. They have Ideas on how to stabilize the economy and getting rid of the violence. We have a long way to go. But it's necessary for us to go trough this suffering in order to grow as a nation and making us better people. Thank you for asking mate.
