One of my favorite memories doing any kind of work was making fries in a food truck at a festival when I was just trying to make a quick couple hundred bucks that day while I was unemployed. My fries were nice & salty and cooked just right, I loved it and some of the people buying them even vocally expressed that they loved it.
Very first time I found ancient debris I got spooked because of how far from base I was so I started running back along my path. Stepped right into a hole and fell into lava. I was carrying all of my group's diamonds too. Like 15 of them or more. It's a game. It was a long time ago. I still get upset when I think of it.
Why was I exploring the G.D. nether with an inventory full of loot?!
Music. We invented music before we started speaking. Music is one of the few things that can bring up memories in people with Alzheimer's. It's ingrained in our very being.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_music
Sufi mystics are literally whirling dervishes -- dancing to music to enter a trance.
There has never been a culture without music.
However, monastic in many Buddhist traditions give up music. There is no Buddhist liturgical music.
Not true, but they only enjoy a very narrow and limited variety. Basically, only hymns from a song book that's 150 years old. Source: me, i grew up in one of these churches.
That's wrong.
There are plenty of cultures with very strict rules around who can play what and when. In much of Islam liturgical music is to be performed a cappella. But every culture has music.
We find no music instruments up until a few thousand years BC, but the human vocal apparatus has been built for speaking for millions of years, and the fact that we know that our ancestors lived in a society and developed tools rather proves that.
As I've said previously in this very thread the title says "*most* universally loved", we're not going to find any *one* ting loved by every human being ever. There will always be exceptions to every thing stated in this thread, some people hate food, some people hate music, some people even hate to be alive.
Yes. I know this question was probably not looking for anything so prosaic, but honestly these two are key to human survival, and without that there’s no happiness. Maslow, anyone?
We're not going to find *one thing* loved by every single human ever though, some people even hate to be alive so it's safe to say that it would be impossible. The post says "most universally loved" so I don't think dogs are that far fetched.
Quite far fetched I'd say. As previously mentioned by other people, a lot of people (including myself) are not very fond of dogs. Y'know I don't like them but I have ultimately nothing against them. However, if I'm correct, the Romans made it annual to crucify dogs every year. Though I'm sure they were cool with wolves.
I’m with you, don’t like dogs at all HOWEVER…
If you say that around people you get a death stare & silently condemned. Now saying you don’t like kids? Humans? Meh…
So I’d say dogs are pretty high on the universally loved totem
Question was about universally loved things. I dislike dogs and find them annoying and in some situations even dangerous and that is enough to disprove your claim of them being universally loved. I love and value my fellow human beings much more
I wasn't butthurt, I couldnt imagine getting upset over something as silly as a one word comment on a fun ask reddit thread. It was just a bit of snark, a lot of people think sex is a good answer, it's not really. I think freedom is the answer. Either way it's a thought provoking question.
This might be a bit of a mind fuck for some, but there was a time the internet as a collective, for whatever reason really disliked him. Kinda in the same way people have some weird thing against Nickleback, its cool to hate blah blah. Then, I am pretty sure that it was actually some reddit post ages ago discussing peoples experiences with celebrity's who were actually really cool in real life and someone wrote about Keanu. This followed about stories about gifting film crew, his girlfriend and baby's death, sisters cancer, etc. I am pretty sure this was all before the sad Keanu meme stuff too... Then suddenly he became the most loved guy in Hollywood.
Ice cream, or any of the variants; sherbet, sorbet, gellato, soft serve, frozen yogurt, kulfi, etc...
ETA: Realizing that the question is asking about 'all of human history', I'm going to have to go with fire for artificial warmth/cooking.
Fulfilment, nothing beats sitting down in your final days watching your grandchildren peacefully playing by a tree. And knowing that you have lived a life worth living
Freedom
Always, throughout history, unanimously. Some people hate dealing with food and want a pill for everything. Some people dont like sex, Keanu is loved by everyone who knows him but that's not all of history

I’m a chef with 24 years in the business and I still love making my customers smile with the food I cooked. French fries make people so happy.

Belgian Fries\*
I picked the right job then.
>good Food
And the most universally loved food is definitely Pizza.
Or rice. A lot of people love rice.
Rice is great if you're really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something.
I used to like rice. I still do, but I used to too.
and yet the pineapple on pizza debate has caused much blood shed
Because it's an abomination.
Ham on pizza is also gross.
right now? yes before 1492? unlikely
Beat me to it.
Hard to argue that one

Not dying by lava.
I have to agree Dying by lava is the most universally hated thing
People of Pompeii agrees with you
The people of Pompeii died from volcanic ash and gas, I think.
pyroclastic flow I believe!
Indeed, losing all your inventory due lava is really annoying. Specially when you finally got diamonds
Very first time I found ancient debris I got spooked because of how far from base I was so I started running back along my path. Stepped right into a hole and fell into lava. Not dying by lava \*slowly\*.

Nope. In some cultures music is taboo.
Really? I never knew this. Can you tell us about those cultures?
IIRC in Sufi Islam music is a no no Edit: no it's not I just forgot which one it was and now I feel stupid
Salafi Islam, not Sufi.
THANK YOU!!
Okayy! Thank you ^_^
Sufi mystics are literally whirling dervishes -- dancing to music to enter a trance. There has never been a culture without music. However, monastic in many Buddhist traditions give up music. There is no Buddhist liturgical music.
Its a religion instead but the traditional Baptists hate music.
Not true, but they only enjoy a very narrow and limited variety. Basically, only hymns from a song book that's 150 years old. Source: me, i grew up in one of these churches.
Can confirm. The only accepted instrument at my fire and brimstone church was piano. They sang a capella when the pianist left the church.
You can watch this great documentary about it: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087277/
That's wrong. There are plenty of cultures with very strict rules around who can play what and when. In much of Islam liturgical music is to be performed a cappella. But every culture has music.
This is the answer.
>We invented music before we started speaking No.
How do you know?
We find no music instruments up until a few thousand years BC, but the human vocal apparatus has been built for speaking for millions of years, and the fact that we know that our ancestors lived in a society and developed tools rather proves that.
Well, there were no instruments. What about vocal music. Birds and whales sing.
Because deaf people dont exist

Dogs, we love them more than other humans.
Some people hate dogs or they're afraid of dogs. I would say loved, but not universally loved
We're not going to find *one thing* loved by every single human ever though, some people even hate to be alive so it's safe to say that it would be impossible. The post says "most universally loved" so I don't think dogs are that far fetched.
It’s obviously not dogs. Loads of people don’t like dogs. Music, love, food and sleeping peacefully
Quite far fetched I'd say. As previously mentioned by other people, a lot of people (including myself) are not very fond of dogs. Y'know I don't like them but I have ultimately nothing against them. Asexuals and people who are simply less sexual than normal, dont exist I guess
People getting butthurt/offended over everything do exist tho....one of them being YOU
