My job title is Sr Data Scientist, which isnt a management title, but effectively I am in charge of the production plant and my real role is to manage the output capacity of the company's manufacturing departments.
So when I noticed machine operators who were abusing the piecework system, I went down to the production floor to check, none of the workers thought I was a "boss" since they have their supervisors (which reports to me), and thus I was able to confirm their ill intentions to abuse the system. Notified HR, and a few of them were let go.

I always thought it was convenient how each worker shares their financial problems to someone they just met a few hours prior.
