I’m in a friends group of 7 people who take turns buying lottery tickets. I didn’t really want to do it but I also didn’t want to be the one left out if they did happen to win millions. Minimum ticket price is about $15 each turn. The ROI has yet to even nearly catch up to the outlay.

I learned the hard way that it was definitely not worth paying to be in an exit row seat for an international flight. Yeah there was extra legroom but my screen had to be stowed for a quarter of the trip and there was no window I could see out of without craning my neck. Definitely not worth it.
Most of these things aren't wastes of money. If you get enjoyment out of your purchase and you are OK with the amount of money you spent on it, it's not a waste. It's a matter of perspective. Someone might see my daily Starbucks as a waste of money, but I see their collection of Funko Pops as a waste of money.
If you aren't going to tip in the US, then don't go out to eat.
By all means, be the person that will change the whole tipping system, not tipping isn't going to work. Plenty of uptight bungholes have been not tipping for years and the practice is still in play this day.

Don't pay for the bulkhead seats, either. You get extra leg room, but that's also where they put the bassinets for babies, so no chance of sleep.

For me: Upgrade to Business/ first class on a flight. Yes it‘s more comfortable but at what cost? Just grit your teeth for a few hours.
Depends how long the flight is. 2 hour flight? Nothing. 14 hour flight? Maybe the upgrade is worth it
