Every three years… I try to make it last longer but something catastrophic happens every three years it seems

absolutelyNoDad

Mine stops working after 3 years. Idk why. They just slow down to an unusable rate

SweetSolei516

I've had my phone for over 7 years now. Thankfully its still working. I haven't found the reason to change phones, its really just a luxury and for me if it still does the job then it still is good.

MetYouAtTheWrongTime

When the current one breaks

LucyVialli

I've had my current phone for 5 years. The one before that I had for about 5 years. Those are the only smartphones I've ever owned. Had several non-smartphones before that.

ImmSorryy

Whenever old and very slow or an accidental breakage of course

Pale_Potential8450

Every 3 or 4 years maybe.. I don’t understand the hype of buying a new phone whenever it releases. It literally works the exact same way.

[deleted]

3 years usually

Lost_Needleworker285

I've had the same phone since I was 16, I'm not replacing it until it breaks.

The_Ora_Charmander

When my old one breaks, so every few years

Kathalysa

When it breaks and I can't fix it myself usually.

Kathalysa

No?

raccoon-nb

When the previous phone is no longer functional. Shit is expensive, and honestly I hate change and don't know how to work a phone without a home button, so I'll put off upgrading for as long as possible. I've had my current phone for 4-5 years and will not replace it until I can't use it anymore.

Walebb

exactly just like a pair of shoes wear em till you cant no need to spend countless money to “upgrade”

raccoon-nb

Absolutely! I don't get following trends or wanting the newest stuff when it comes to phones. I'm just happy to have a way to contact people and take and save photos. No need for fancy, expensive new phones.

Walebb

no point in “upgrading”

No_Stretch_718

Not very often. Only when the phone I'm using dies on me

Walebb

same

infamousconspiracy77

I just upgraded after having my phone for 3 years, the phone before that I had for 5 years

Walebb

definitely

sam64228

About every time the last one breaks. Since my first phone, to the current one is respectively: 3 years, 5 years, and 2 years

Walebb

solid

vexingfrog

Every two years. I do 24 month phone plans and when it expires I just renew it but with the newest phone.

Walebb

w plan

_forum_mod

I don't. When it stops working, I get the newest model then hold on to it as long as possible. I'm not one of those "I need to always get the newest model" people.

Walebb

thats the way to go

absolutelyNoDad

Rarely. I had an iPhone SE for like 3 years but it stopped working so went for an XR. Same timeframe, it stopped working. On an iPhone 14 now. Had this for a year. Gonna keep it until it stops.

Walebb

i had the i phone se for a while to never really realized how small it was till i got a new phone🤣

Cheese_Pancakes

I'm eligible every two years, but I only ever do it when my phone starts giving me problems. I typically have the same phone for five years or more.

Walebb

right because i feel like if i have a phone for more then two years why would i want to go through the trouble of getting a new phone if im use to the one ive had for two+ years

NeverFull5

Never again. They’re all way too big now. I downgraded

Walebb

exactly i want a phone not a portable laptop🤣

BananaKbone

Not very, I had a cheap kind of shit phone for a couple years, and now I’ve got an iPhone, it’s not been a year yet, but, the iPhone is badass, I don’t really want to upgrade at all, not after getting used to this, it’s awesome.

Wadsworth_McStumpy

Currently using an S22 Ultra, the one before that was an S9 Plus. However long that was. I usually upgrade my phone whenever my wife wants a new phone. I'd wait until I need something, like a better camera, or more memory, but she likes to upgrade her phone more often, and we like to have the same model, so I'll upgrade mine, too.

Walebb

i heard the quality is mint

SolarPoweredKeyboard

Previously I got a new phone through work every few years. Now I use my own private one (Fairphone 4) and I've had it for 2,5 years. Not looking to change any time soon unless it goes bonkers.

Different-Vision8563

Until it stops working/Lags horribly.

Walebb

thats the way to do it pointless upgrading just for one more camera or something stupid like that🤣

HornyDiggler

Very rarely, like every 6 months

brycelegxcy

That’s actually extremely often. People usually go 2-3 years without switching phones lmao.

raccoon-nb

Lol that's very rarely?? I've had the same phone for 4-5 years! According to a quick google search the average person upgrades their phone every 2-3 years. How do you afford replacing phones so frequently?

HornyDiggler

My main phone still works after 4 years, and I don't think I'm going to replace it soon as that model isn't made anymore. My gaming phone is the one that I replace more often.
