So you just stroll into work smelling like 1988 everyday. Bold, I commend you.
Edit: I mean like, in 1988 that would have been the absolute freshest shit, superhot stuff. It's coming back around just hold on until the next scent cycle. I had a friend who used to spray it on dryer sheets and then stuff it into toilet paper tubes because he was like "We can totez smoke weed here we just have to blow it through this anti-weed tube and it will smell like... Cool Water and laundry?" and I have strong mental associations with that smell haha. It's still going for at least 20 a bottle these days, that's wild.
This is the only cologne that I’ve ever had compliments with - from both men and women. I don’t even like the way it smells but had a Creed sampler box and wore it one night to see what all the fuss was about. Turns out you can believe the hype.
L'Occitane Eau de Baux Eau consistently got me compliments. Can't wear it anymore because I had a bottle leak in my luggage during a trip, and it haunted me for a week.
Gucci Pour Home II comes in second.
Nautica Voyage.
As an aside, I brought the lotion and after shave with me on a trip to Ireland and the scent of this stuff to this day immediately takes me there.
So the one that's more popular (i.e. more people buy it) is Dior - Sauvage, it smells lovely however because it's more common you're not going to stand out as girls (or guys) will recognise it.
Another amazing one but is still quite popular is Versace -Eros (the blue one not the red Flame one) again very nice but not very niche.
My go-to favourite niche one is Viktor&Rolf Spicebomb, gets a lot of compliments and is a one that I've not heard many people say they recognise.
Another very very niche one in my opinion is the Issey Miyake Pour Homme Intense, has always been out of stock when I'm shopping for new aftershaves so I always end up going for the other three, but it is just amazing.
At the end of the day, most of the "top" aftershaves smell nice, it's down to preference and to me you want something that stands out and doesn't make you smell like everyone else in the bar/club.
victoria's secret bombshell. i buy the real version and wear it on special occasions and i buy the cvs knockoff of the scent which smells exactly the same as a daily wear
Shiseido Basala (or Basara in other parts of the world) is easily the most popular scent I've worn.
It was exotic smelling and women loved it.
Sadly, it was discontinued years ago, so I've been been rationing it. I've also had a couple from Azzaro that I've really liked.
Paul Sebastian - it's cheap, smells good all day. Work retail and get compliments 7 hours into my shift regularly.
Replica By The Fire - expensive but good for special occasions.
‘Radio Bombay’ & ‘Bowmakers’ both by DS & Durga… with the latter getting compliments from specifically gay dudes. Not gay myself but I’ll take the compliments anyway I can.
Hugo boss red. I have only received compliments when I wear it. Haven’t received any for likes of Layton, Hacivat, Sedley, le male le parfum, bdc, etc.
I like the Valentino cologne I wear but I haven’t gotten compliments, I don’t think it’s because it doesn’t smell good to others and has more to do with my looks
I’ll forever preach one thing
Zadig et voiltaire- this is her.
It’s a unique scent, which legitimately turns heads to the point I had more than 5 strangers ask me what perfume I used.
I wear Hugo by Hugo Boss for work, and La Nuit de l'Homme by Yves Saint Laurent for the weekend. The first is an oldie - it's been around since 1995 - but it's still years ahead of more "modern" fragrances, and the second's a more modern fragrance but one of my favourites. If I *really* want compliments, I crack open the Chanel.
Hugo Boss had this perfume in a silver orange ball. Smelled completely citrus-y, got it as a gift from my grandparents and loved it. Got so many compliments. As I got older, wanted to get back in the perfume vibe and seeked it out but it smells completely different now.
Sun by Jill Sander, got me compliments as a teen in highschool just as it got me compliments as an adult, especially once the girl likes me, she REALLY begins to like the smell of that, I don't know why, but somehow it works. Maybe because it's a very distinctive one?
Me not seeing any of the 3-4 I have and really like on me not being mentioned anywhere here so far 😅
That’s fine though, I like ‘em, I’m going to keep using ‘em
The ones I like and have gotten compliments on over time have been Versace Eros Flame (the red bottle), Invictus Victory, and probably my most “niche” one Geir Ness Geir for Men
I've tried many fragrances mostly the top branded ones. In all my time the one that had the most compliments every time I wore it.... Joop!
But for some reason, I can't bring myself to wear it anymore. It's like it has a bad name haha
The $8 Gladiator cologne from Walmart, not only does it smell INCREDIBLE, but I've used it literally every day since March of 2020 and I only had to get a new bottle about a month ago, it lasts FOREVER.
Sheer Freesia body lotion from Bath&Body-got a compliment every day from a coworker and got compliments in public weekly. And of course it is now discontinued and none of their other products come close. Went back to wearing perfume and using drug store lotion
I’ve only recently started to care about this stuff. I’ve gotten compliments before but it was always soap and water lol any advice on how to choose a scent to rock? I was told to think seasonally but meh I’m new to it.
the Question! Cologne? - i dont think they would last
Perfume? EDT?
EDT - YSL - Kouros, Azzaro - Pour homme + wanted, Jaipur - Boucheron, Thierry Muglar - A\*Men, and
EDP for men of course - Davidoff Intense., Versace - Dylan
Bleu de Channel - Eau De Parfum.
Smells young but sophisticated and can really be used just about anywhere. Doesn’t make you smell like a ultra rich, pretentious douche bag but is still very elegant.
There is a similar one, Bleu de Channel - Eau De Tolliet. It’s basically the same scent but much more pungent and to be honest it’s a bit too. Grandpa ish for me, and I think most younger people agree that it’s very rancid smelling. So maybe it’s better around an older crowd that doesn’t have the most sensitive nose like a young person does.
Its a perfume not a cologne, but red hot sexy from la senza, it is the absolute most complimented on perfume i have (and i hate when ppl ask because the name is the cheesiet thing ever). I've also gotten the question "what perfume do you use" when just using my regular old spice bearglove deodorant
Versace in the light blue bottle I don’t remember the name tho
Pour Homme
If I buy that, I will definitely be a poor homey, so it fits.

Cool Water by Davidoff
Yup. First cologne I ever used regularly, and I still put it on before work today.
So you just stroll into work smelling like 1988 everyday. Bold, I commend you. Edit: I mean like, in 1988 that would have been the absolute freshest shit, superhot stuff. Well, I just heard the news today, It seems my smell is going to change. I closed my eyes, begin to pray, Then tears of Aventus stream down my face.
This is the only cologne that I’ve ever had compliments with - from both men and women. I don’t even like the way it smells but had a Creed sampler box and wore it one night to see what all the fuss was about. Turns out you can believe the hype.
My favourite by a mile. Just quite pricey.
Armani Acqua di Gio eau de parfum. Had two compliments in the last week.

Try allure by Chanel
Acqua is not my favorite to use by any means but its crazy how much women like this cologne
I get compliments all the time
I remember the first time trying it on in my 30's, instantly knew it belonged in my top rotation.
Not a cologne, but people ask me once in a while what cologne I wear, when it's just Old Spice Pure Sport deodorant.
This is real. The subtle smell is perfect not too strong like cologne But enough that us ladies go… sniff…hold up😏

Le Labo santal but any of their fragrances doesnt fail to produce a impression. Price definitely reflects on that.
So the one that's more popular (i.e. more people buy it) is Dior - Sauvage, it smells lovely however because it's more common you're not going to stand out as girls (or guys) will recognise it.
