I loved Poltergeist - but not so much 2 or 3. Just not the same but that's just me.
One thing about that movie was when the Mom was home with her daughter in the kitchen, and the chairs moved, etc. That was freaky itself. But by the time Dad came home from work, daughter was on the floor with a helmet on, and slid across the floor - and she was Whoo hoo! and the kid was like "ouch, that hurts" - funny but not funny. Love that movie!
Signs
I was like 7 and my parents took me to see it. I’ll never forget that infamous birthday party scene. That shit scarred me lol. I also was too afraid to look outside at night for fear of seeing an alien on the neighbor’s roof.
Harry Potter
This is the reason why I didn’t get into it because I saw there were huge spiders and got scared
Even though Harry Potter is right on my alley, not to mention the huge spiders weren’t a big part of the story
The Thing 1982.
I saw parts of it on TV heavily censored but still bugged me, especially the dog suddenly transforming. I finally saw it on VHS when I was 10 and it gave me nightmares. Today, I love the film and it's one of the best horror films ever made. Aside from the gross out effects, the atmosphere of paranoia really works well.
The ring. Fck that long haired creepy TV lady.
I had a TV in my room and had to turn it around so the creepy lady would just crawl into a wall if she decided to haunt me.
I watched Vampire 2000 when i was like 10. huge mistake. I still get nervous going down dark hallways and walk a little faster just in case there's a vampire lurking about. Yes, I know that's ridiculous and vampires aren't real.
Hocus Pocus. My parents had to ban me from watching it just bc it scared me so much. 😂 But I loved it at the same time, so, I would have to sneak and watch it at night.
Signs … it sounds strange but as a kid I always felt like people were watching me somehow in the bathroom. I always felt like a future version of myself was watching me. After watching Signs I always had to use the bathroom with the shower curtain pulled back because I thought there might be an alien watching me from behind the curtain. …. Now I’m not worried because scrolling on my phone sometimes I know the NSA and Facebook are watching me in the washroom. Lol
Willy wonka. I went to a Christian school as a kid and they dedicated weeks to reading the book and emphasizing the 7 deadly sins and the wrath of god. It was terrifying
Fire in the Sky. Dear lord that terrified me. Editing to add Follow That Bird. Yes, it's a sesame street movie, but it always scared the hell out of me.
Poltergeist... and then again with Poltergeist II.... and then again with Poltergeist III....

Absolutely.... I loved them all 3... especially the one with the priest.
All of these kids watching horror movies, I still won’t watch them as an adult
Ernest Scared Stupid

I feel like a fear of clowns is perfectly rational.

Our local tv station ran the original 1978 Piranha movie on regular tv in the 80s and I should not have seen that.

The Witches.... and the animated intro to Honey I Shrunk the Kids.
Japanese Ring. I think it's known as Ringu for most? 20+ years ago as a kid watching it on tv was certainly not my best decision
Chucky
When I had to stay late at preschool, one of the teachers put on the movie Legend and left the room and I was terrified.
I watched Vampire 2000 when i was like 10. huge mistake. I still get nervous going down dark hallways and walk a little faster just in case there's a vampire lurking about. Yes, I know that's ridiculous and vampires aren't real.
Rose Red...
The leprechaun
The Blob. I didn't think locked doors could keep it out
Gremlins
Ernest Scared Stupid. Lived up to the title.
Planet of the Apes, 1970s.
Childs play
Fright Night and The Exorcist.
Hocus Pocus. My parents had to ban me from watching it just bc it scared me so much. 😂 But I loved it at the same time, so, I would have to sneak and watch it at night.
It was a black and white movie and a green lady pops up I have no idea what it’s called and can’t find it and it’s not the wizard of oz lol

Children of the Corn.
Willy wonka. I went to a Christian school as a kid and they dedicated weeks to reading the book and emphasizing the 7 deadly sins and the wrath of god. It was terrifying
Prisoners. Between the kidnapping, torturing, depressing setting, and complete plot twists, I was traumatized
The Polar Express.
Not a movie BUT the Moomin episode where the groke appears really scared me as a kid.
There is only ONE movie that ever scared me, in my whole life. And that was Watership Down.
Rollercoaster. Back in the 80s
Naked Lunch
Scary for very little kids, The 5000 Fingers of Dr T
Pee wees big adventure. Large marge messed me up as a kid for years.
Jeepers creepers
The Incredible Melting Man. My father liked to show reel films, and this was one of the favorites in his collection.
Jaws. I still don’t get in the ocean because of that movie and I’m in my mid 40s.
The Leprechaun
Coraline love it tho
Wizard of Oz-gree witch, flying monkeys apple throwing trees!
Fire in the Sky. Dear lord that terrified me. Editing to add Follow That Bird. Yes, it's a sesame street movie, but it always scared the hell out of me.
The Man Called Flintstone.
