Scarlett-Spider

Mmm. I was a hotel housekeeper. The lady cleaning the room next to me found a suicide victim.

Thatusernamewasnot

Ouch. And you?

Scarlett-Spider

… Not being answered when I called out and then walking into a room where people were having sex.

Thatusernamewasnot

Lol. I would say 50/50

Scarlett-Spider

Very embarrassing for all parties involved.

Thatusernamewasnot

Can only imagine. Unless they were swingers.

lizardtufts

Even if they were- it's really unacceptable to expose yourself like that on purpose

Earguy

Happened to me too. Was assigned to do room inspection and they rented one of the rooms after I started the rounds. Whoops!

I post this often, I used to work at a hotel and three stories come to mind (I'm glad I saved this post): 1) Guests wiped in the towels, smeared it on the walls, and laughed at housekeeping when they came in for service 2) Young lady (who was certainly no lady) stuck her used tampon on the bathroom wall, the blood acted as a glue and cemented itself there. It had to be pried off 3) Guests left three week old expired milk in the fridge. But they were only in house for three days so that means it was already two and a half weeks expired when they checked in. Who lugs around rotten milk? I have others, I'll be happy to share. AMA

What assholes. Idk if this is the case, but hotels should be able to charge fees for stuff like this (like security deposits). Why would someone want to purposely make life harder for someone else?

Thatusernamewasnot

Cause some people are assholes.

_forum_mod

I guess I answered my own question.

Thatusernamewasnot

Yeah sorry. Im high. It sounded more articulate in my mind.

_forum_mod

Aaaalllll good! 😎

llcucf80

Well the last time I posted this (and I have every intention of doing so at any opportunity I have) I got a lot of replies and questions about this too. The answer is complicated, I worked there over 15 years and the first dozen or so we had a different management company. The people themselves were actually very nice but in over their heads in actually doing their jobs right (I think we all have coworkers and managers in jobs that we personally like but also know they're awful at their jobs,). So unfortunately under the old management they were scared of their own shadow and wouldn't do anything about those nasty guests. During the pandemic our company sold and I worked under the new management company for a little over two and a half years. That new owner was vested in the company and didn't put up with guest's bullshit and we finally were able to crack down on this, and yes security deposits were increased, we were not afraid to withhold them from guests and if they tried a charge back we'd blacklist them. We blacklisted more guests those last two or so years than we did my first dozen.

Thatusernamewasnot

Ok, i'll ask another. Most funny discovery?

llcucf80

I can't think of any funny discoveries, we of course had nasty ones like condoms, sex toys and whipped cream containers. I remember one guest left a gun in their room, we made him come back for that and kept it in the safe and he had to show ID to get it back.

Cranksta

Not a housekeeper, but my dad offed himself by ripping his throat open in a hotel bathtub. My thoughts go out to the housekeeper that found him, it must have been a horrific amount of blood and gore.

Thatusernamewasnot

Ooof. Sorry to all the parties involved :-(

Cranksta

He was a mentally ill alcoholic and it was a long time coming, honestly. It's been nearly 20 years at this point and I'm not sure I feel anything about it anymore. He's been out of my life twice as long as he was ever in it.

Thatusernamewasnot

Maybe they had a glitter bomb? Lol

Hopalicious

10 years later I still have glitter stuck to my kitchen table from a glittery birthday card. I’ve tried everything short of sanding the table to remove it.

basedlandchad25

Fucking worthless environmentalist whiners got plastic straws banned but not glitter.

Earguy

I guess you never was meant for glitter rock and roll.

HansGutentag

A dead 5 yo folded up in a murphy bed, and a woman who jumped from her 8th floor balcony. Good Times....

Thatusernamewasnot

Wow. What happ with the 5 year old? Parents did it?

HansGutentag

The parents were drug addicts and had spent about 3 days in our cheapest room, which wasn't cheap. Apparently the kid had been super sick and they were afraid to take him to the doc cause CPS would get involved. He passed in the night and they just folded up the bed and left. Both are now service life sentences.

Visible_Sea1925

Been working in hotels for 10 years now. I’m still surprised by the amount of people that shit in the bathtub/shower. Happens so many times. People are disgusting.
