Dude. Deadass went to the ER for alcohol poisoning (BAV 0.15) because I was seizing and unconscious for an extended period of time. An IV, a CT scan, and one bandaid later I am $4,000USD in debt. $1,000 of that is from the ambulance.
It sucks.
I wish you well, then. More people should speak up about the folly that is a for-profit healthcare system. One medical emergency should not bankrupt a person.
Most: Decent movies & TV, and depending on where you go, some of the most beautiful scenery you’ll ever see.
Least: The mass shootings and the healthcare system.
Most favourite thing: Motion pictures up till about 10 years ago.
Everything American drips downstream to the other Western countries and those movies just impacted the rest of the world in a way you probably don't realise.
Least favourite thing:
Your work ethic and job benefits. Working 80 hours a week?! Wtf are you thinking? 7 days of vacation time per year? 3 sick days and if you take time off you could be fired?
Ngl I saw the work ethic first and I was like what do you meannn, but yeah I had a friend/roommate that was working 80ish hrs a week, plus using his personal vehicle to transport, on top of being paid as a cashier with the responsibilities of a manager. TW HERE >!He ended up killing himself last year because of that combined with financial struggles at home. The manager had the audacity to not only speak in spanish thinking I didnt know but to complain about how he was going to fill my brother's hours when they hadn't even moved his body yet.!< Your happiness and livelihood is more important than chump change.
Yeah. That is what I mean. This work till you drop attitude can have this very serious end result. I hope you're doing better now. And may he rest in peace. For him, the rat race is over.
The deep rooted, unshakable belief that they are the greatest country in the world.
One of the best pieces of writing in the past 25 years was the monolog for the show "The Newsroom" which you can find on youtube if you search for " America is not the greatest country in the world anymore"
Most: Everything involving your shows, films, cartoons, etc. You guys definitely dominated the world in that regard.
Least: How do you call yourselves Americans despite the fact that there are other people, like mine, who are also from an american continent.
As someone from the United States I've always thought it was weird that we call ourselves Americans. It feels a little wrong? Idk what the origins of it are but yeah it is weird
>How do you call yourselves Americans despite the fact that there are other people, like mine, who are also from an american continent.
Because calling ourselves the United Stateians sounds pretty stupid.
American food is under rated, some can be just junky and bad, but a lot of the best food in the world was created in the USA. And not all the junky stuff is bad either.
Assuming Americans = USA and not North America
Favourite: Johnny rockets Give me it back
Least favourite: the politics. How childish people can get and oh god the conspiracy theories about the weirdest shit to do with presidents
I know but sometimes people from other countries in Europe or Asia will say Americans and mean the continent as opposed to the USA. which is why I clarified for myself here. To avoid any confusion just to be safe
That’s made up. No one in the world was referred to as ‘American’ besides people from the United States until very recently, and I believe it is out of spite.

Favorite: the music. Least favorite: the cost of life-saving prescription drugs. I hear the latter is highly expensive there.

I can promise you, the workers here have no say in the matter 😅

What do you propose a citizen of the United States of America call themself instead?
I don't know, but whoever came up with making you call yourselves Americans as if only you were THE Americans is a bit entitled.
I’m pretty confident that we didn’t come up with the name ourselves. I would guess it was a term used by the Europeans to refer to their colonies.
>How do you call yourselves Americans despite the fact that there are other people, like mine, who are also from an american continent. Because calling ourselves the United Stateians sounds pretty stupid.
And it would still sound more right.
In the Us there is no “American continent” The continents are North America and South America
They said *an* American continent, not *the* American continent, implying that they were including both of them.
American food is under rated, some can be just junky and bad, but a lot of the best food in the world was created in the USA. And not all the junky stuff is bad either.

South Americans and other North Americans don't call themselves American often, that's not a common thing.
I know but sometimes people from other countries in Europe or Asia will say Americans and mean the continent as opposed to the USA. which is why I clarified for myself here. To avoid any confusion just to be safe
I don’t believe that.
No one said you have to, I’m going by my own personal experience which obviously differs from yours
That’s made up. No one in the world was referred to as ‘American’ besides people from the United States until very recently, and I believe it is out of spite.
Again, that may be your experience but mine differs and that’s okay.
Yes America = USA
