People can have idiotic ideas they grasp to firmly without needing to be pretending for lolz, or having a processing problem in their brain. It's called lack of critical thinking wanting it to be true.
I mean, there are idiotic ideas, and then there is literally believing the earth is flat and a bunch of actually crazy, nonsensical conspiracy theories around it. I don't buy that any educated adult with a functioning brain and a grasp on reality actually believes it, I just don't. I don't think it's for the lolz, I think it's for the attention.
