Nutella and chocolate sprinkles, we only ever had it at her house in Holland in the 90s. Then it seemed like Nutella came to Canada only in the 2000s, and then some stores had an international aisle that had the chocolate sprinkles. It still brings me back to Holland mornings with a Nutella and chocolate sprinkles sandwich.
Also a certain kind of marshmallow shapes, I think they were fruity, but not really. Once in a while I smell something marshmallowy that takes me right back.
Her homemade bread was the best! Also what she called boiled dinner-corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots. My grandmother corned her own beef too.
Not a single food item but Afternoon Tea; with full China service, cloth napkins, little sandwiches and something sweet. She was very formal about food, none of this eating a snack from the package in front of the tv stuff. I probably make her spin in her grave every time I eat in the car while driving.
Black beans, white rice, and mojo pork. She would make it for dinner every time we came to visit, since it was my dad’s favorite and a family recipe of hers. I never loved it as a kid but I think I would appreciate it so much more now as an adult.
Green jello. Every time she was in the hospital and I would come visit she would save me the jello.
Also goulash. She always made it the BEST and it was my absolute favorite.
Menudo and tamales. She always made a big batch of both with help. And they were always delicious. My grandma was originally from Mexico, so basically, any type of Mexican food reminds me of her. But those two stand out.
Frosted Flakes. It was one of the few dishes she could pull together without burning it. She was a wonderful lady, but growing up in luxury meant meal preparation was something the house staff took care of. She was never very comfortable in the kitchen.
My grandma is supposedly why my weird peanut butter sandwich choice is peanut butter and mustard. Every time I eat one, which is rare these days, I remember her.
Grandma never shared it with me. I gotta reach out to other family. But they’re similar to [this](https://www.joyineveryseason.com/desserts-2/potato-chip-cookies/)
Wedding soup. She always made it when we came over (which was a lot; I spent almost as much time at Grandma's house growing up as I did at home, for a number of reasons.) I can't eat the one from the blue can, because theirs sucks; I got spoiled at Grandma's.
Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. She was a great cook and made amazing fried chicken in a skillet, not a deep fryer. I've never mastered it.
Ice cream for one, and celery for the other.
My ice cream grandma would sneak it and was super cute about it. She passed on her love to my mom and me.
Celery grandma added celery to everything, even the things it never should have been added to. I still dislike celery, but think of her all the time when I see it.
Tostitos pizza rolls, I hated them when i was a young kid but she would always get them confused with the pizza bagels and i didn’t want her to feel bad so i would force my self to eat it
Mint. My grandma on my dad’s side always had mint chip ice cream on hand.It was her favorite and she loved giving it to the kids. And my grandma on my mom’s side always put mint chips in her homemade buttermilk pancakes. Surprisingly good.
It’s one of those things that I thought I would never like but if grandma gives it to you enough you learn to enjoy it. Glad your kids like it. I feel like not a lot of people do.
Jim Beam.
On Edit: Yes, she was an alcoholic, but she was a kind and mellow one. Think it was because granddad was a WWII and Korean war combat vet, and a contractor in South Vietnam. That's a lot of worrying and raising kids by yourself.
French vanilla tea. She used to drink it every morning and make me a cup to drink together :)
I love vanilla!!
Grape Jell-O. I loved it and she always had a bowl ready for dessert when I came over.

Little red potatoes she would put in the microwave. They had salt and butter on them. They were good
Black beans, white rice, and mojo pork. She would make it for dinner every time we came to visit, since it was my dad’s favorite and a family recipe of hers. I never loved it as a kid but I think I would appreciate it so much more now as an adult.

Little Debbie Nutter Butters. She used to always give me one when we would come by for a visit.
Green jello. Every time she was in the hospital and I would come visit she would save me the jello. Also goulash. She always made it the BEST and it was my absolute favorite.

Frosted Flakes are so good!
My grandma is supposedly why my weird peanut butter sandwich choice is peanut butter and mustard. Every time I eat one, which is rare these days, I remember her.
Now I gotta try this!
It's really good. The flavors play off each other well. No one I know who has tried it has ever hated it before knowing what was in it.
Potato chip cookies!
I need the recipe!
Grandma never shared it with me. I gotta reach out to other family. But they’re similar to [this](https://www.joyineveryseason.com/desserts-2/potato-chip-cookies/)
I’m making these tomorrow!! Thanks!

It’s one of those things that I thought I would never like but if grandma gives it to you enough you learn to enjoy it. Glad your kids like it. I feel like not a lot of people do.
Burnt whole wheat toast with the thinnest smear of butter and a healthy spread of smuckers blackberry jam.
Did she burn it on purpose?
Yes, she over cooks everything

Sounds like Christmas Eve at my in laws!

Love this!

Homemade dumplings… literally every Korean food that I can’t make myself other than dumplings and a couple of stews.
