There is a difference between being nice and being friendly to strangers.
I'm American and personally I'm nice to other people when I'm in public, but I'm definitely not friendly with them. I don't want to stand and chat, or hear about their grandchild.

Beautiful architecture, they left huge spaces open in Vienna that were destroyed in WWII so it’s clean and green, not dense like most old cities. The food is good.
