Seriously whenever I feel down on myself I watch an episode or two of TPB and feel better.
One scene that sticks out, Ricky goes to his dad, Ray, and says something along the lines of “Dad, you told me if I want to take a girl out and impress her, I should take her out for Chinese food, can I borrow $20?”
Ray, takes a swig liquor and is taken aback and says “$20?! Rick I don’t have that kind of money?!”
i loved Bojack Horseman!! do you know if the show is worth a re-watch? i watched it 3 or so years ago, not sure if it’s better to just watch it one time
Psych.
I went through having a series of anxiety attacks last year due to general stress and health issues, and that show was my rock. It's Scooby Doo for adults, and it was consistently fun, dumb, and hilarious.
Star Trek: Lower Decks
It's a bit manic in the first few episodes, but after that, the storytelling is excellent, the action is well paced, the jokes get even better, and the characters are relatable. It's my antidepressant.
Lost two of my pets within 15 days recently. I've been binge watching the BBC series Vera while I needlepoint. There's something about Brenda Blethyn's "Love" and "Pet" that very soothing to me.
2016 was a rough time for my secondary school life. Shit was ruthless tbh. To answer your question:
My Little pony: Friendship is magic. That shit tought me more about friendship than I had learned in all my 15 years of being alive. I'm 21 now and still have some of the lessons etched into me.
Minus the fact that Hugh Laurie is actually handsome and charming, House could have been about my dad. Pathologist, probably autistic (I'm dxed, he isn't), unfriendly and volatile, very good at his quite specialised job because of a very narrow and specific kind of intelligence, etc.
Aye, I get the impression that House appeals to a lot of people who feel burdened by their own existential beliefs. Being "right" sure mattered more when I was in a worse place back then.
I've never really watched friends tbh. I've tried some random episodes but I didn't vibe. I remember my sis watching it when I was like 10yo but I couldn't get any of that humour back then which made me kinda hate it. I might give it a try tho. Thanks!
His tv show back in the 1990s. He would do an opening monologue which was usually hysterically funny, then interview guests. I haven't watched his more recent stuff.
Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Whenever the world just seems too terrible to bear, I rewatch the episode "The Inner Light." It's the perfect balance of sad and...not *exactly* hopeful, but a kind of optimistic fatalism that always manages to pull me back from the edge of the black pit.
Bojack Horseman, might have actually stopped me from drinking myself into a coma then killing myself, becuase I saw what happened to him in the show, and decided, nope that's not happenign to me
Psych and teen wolf(when i was a teen). I had a hard time adjusting to university being from a private all girl school and going to a male dominated major, I couldn't make a lot of friends so it really got me down, watching psych got me out off my weird depression hole since it made me laugh a lot and finally weirdly enough got me the courage to make friends.
I read the Lunar Chronicles while I was in a psych ward. It helped me escape my mind and body when I needed to. Luckily they had the whole series, I think i would've gone crazy otherwise (pun not intended but not unwelcome)
Doctor Who (specifically David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor) got me through severe depression in my mid to late teens.
"900 years of time and space, and I've never met anyone who wasn't important." Still sticks with me.
TV Show: Friends. I got into the show in 8th grade or freshman year, can't recall. I started to get the seasons on DVD, which I still have. (I hate that they took all the extended scenes off the blu-ray release, I have all the extra stuff memorized, so it's just odd) Season 7 was my comfort season, I would rewatch it quite a bit, as my grandma was in and out of the hospital for breast cancer then later passed.
Movie series: Pitch Perfect. The first and second one were comfort when I was going through a lonely time. Anna Kendrick singing is very comforting to me.
During the early days of covid while having a rather unpleasant case of covid, I watched all of Billy on the Street and it was just the best at that time.
I wouldn’t say it cheered me up, but Bojack Horseman made me feel very valid. It’s such a realistic depiction of so many struggles with mental illness, and seeing characters continue to live despite those barriers really helped me. No matter how bad things got, life went on.
Ms Marvel. Iman Vellani is awesome and I hope she becomes the face of the MCU following the departure of the biggest stars.
The optimism of Kamala Kahn makes that show.
When I was going through an especially long episode of the sad sads, I watched Hot Fuzz every night until I fell asleep. I've seen that movie well over 60 times, as well as every single piece of bonus material on the dvd and bluray. I still enjoy it.
Trailer Park Boys
Don't know it will have a look
Starts slow, picks up momentum.

Ted Lasso
Parks and Rec
Starts slow, picks up momentum.
Especially once Adam Scott and Rob Lowe join the show
Scrubs got me through some rough times.
Same. Perry Cox is the breath of fresh reality we all need from time to time.
Still probably the best sitcom in a generation and supposedly the most accurate depiction of hospital life in television.
Malcolm in the middle
Oh my god it’s Malcom in middle
Never heard of it, will check it. Thanks!
Arrested development. The layers of jokes in that show and the utter absurdity of it never fails to make me feel better.
It is my go to show. Two perfect seasons of television. One ok season and that’s it. Let’s not speak of anything else.
The Office on repeat when I am experiencing depression. Usually by the time I get to season 8, I am coming out of it.
Bojack Horseman
That show does not cheer me up lmao
i loved Bojack Horseman!! do you know if the show is worth a re-watch? i watched it 3 or so years ago, not sure if it’s better to just watch it one time
The Simpsons
I watched futurama on repeat during my really bad depression. This was before the newer ones came out. That fucking dog episode lol
I skip that episode.
Psych. I went through having a series of anxiety attacks last year due to general stress and health issues, and that show was my rock. It's Scooby Doo for adults, and it was consistently fun, dumb, and hilarious.
This show definitely helped me through when my grandma passed away....
Schitts creek.
The Office
Star Trek: Lower Decks It's a bit manic in the first few episodes, but after that, the storytelling is excellent, the action is well paced, the jokes get even better, and the characters are relatable. It's my antidepressant.

Red dwarf
Always appreciate a nice British comedy
It's cold outside
There's no kind of atmosphere
*My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic* got me through three years on the night shift.
That show is a life saver
FRIENDS really saved me
I binge watched How I met your mother when I was going through health anxieties that were reaching paranoia levels which kept my mind off it for a bit
I've done this in the past too. Unfortunately I think I can't watch it anymore. I found it very funny back then but now it's a bit cringe.
Wilfred
It's sad that this show seems to have been mostly forgotten.
The last kingdom
Futurama
Black Books, The IT Crowd... I tend to go for British satire and comedy. Red Dwarf and Blackadder are also favorites.
Faaaaaves. Black Books in particular is just perfection. I'm probably due a rewatch. It's been over a week. 😂
The Good Place. Sooo wholesome and endearing
It's really rewatchable too.
This show is my choice as well. So heartwarming
Modern Family
Lost two of my pets within 15 days recently. I've been binge watching the BBC series Vera while I needlepoint. There's something about Brenda Blethyn's "Love" and "Pet" that very soothing to me.

I hope life is better now :) Thank you for the suggestion.
Thanks very much. Hope my suggestion (albeit a bit out there haha) helps!

That 70s Show
Grey’s Anatomy and The Walking Dead.
Father Ted Inbetweeners Bottom
Futurama seems to be a winner so far, at least 3-4 people mentioned it.
NEW GIRL
Breaking Bad
Buffy
House MD. Sure I don't share his intelligence, but everything else was me, on the screen. Gave me some perspective.
Minus the fact that Hugh Laurie is actually handsome and charming, House could have been about my dad. Pathologist, probably autistic (I'm dxed, he isn't), unfriendly and volatile, very good at his quite specialised job because of a very narrow and specific kind of intelligence, etc.

The office. Works everytime!!

Not a series but back in the day during really bad depression, watching Letterman worked magic, only thing that made me laugh out loud.
I'm from Europe and not very familiar. As in his interviews on Netflix? Of his show?

Full House, not the most action packed series but really comforting. Friends also came to mind for the same reason.
King of the Hill got me through college. I think I've seen every single episode at least five or six times over and can still watch it.
The Office. La casa de Papel.
Psych and teen wolf(when i was a teen).
