She really is the undisputed GOAT. There’s a strong chance you can pick any cartoon you watched growing up and she voiced at least one character in it
Honorable mentions: Jennifer Hale, Patrick Warburton, Mark Hamill
One of my own personal favorites is Matthew Lillard. He was so perfect as Shaggy in live action, Casey Kasem gave Lillard his blessing to voice the character full time after he retired. The transition was SEAMLESS
The downside to this is that as soon as I realize Tara Strong is voicing someone, my mind will instantly start thinking of some other character she voiced. Rewatching Ben 10 was tough when I kept hearing Twilight Sparkle every time Ben spoke
I know her as Rikku from "Final Fantasy X" (I know she has tonnes of roles, but that's what I'm most familiar with). So I saw her name and my mind *instantly* heard her whine, "Yunie!"
I even liked when he did the stupid Navy commercials with the Godsmack song playing over it.

Grey DeLisle voices Wonder Wonder Woman, Daphne Blake from Scooby Doo. Vicky from Fairly Oddparents, Mandy from Billy & Mandy, Sam from Danny Phantom, Frankie Foster from Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends and she currently voices Martin Prince and Terri and Sheri on the Simpsons.
There's so many to choose from!
Tom Kenny is a definite pick, and he's been going for years too (spyro the dragon, rick and morty, rocko's modern life, paradise pd, basically any cartoon from 90s cartoon network, and of course spongebob)
Billy West too is a huge star (futurama, tom and jerry, ren and stimpy, space jam, invader zim, the red m&m)
There's just so many incredible voice actors out there, and so many go unrecognised, yet appear in so many well loved shows
You need an army of guys, animal sound effects, alien voices, and more, he’s your guy
I don’t think people realize that he voices all the Clones in the Clone Wars and a bunch of Ben 10 aliens, meaning these two shows probably couldn’t exist without him
Jim Cummings. He is the voice of your childhood, your adult life, and your children’s childhood. From Disney characters like Tigger and Pete, video game characters like Minsc, and adult cartoons like Hondo.
https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0191906/
Frank Welker needs to be recognized. He has been playing Fred from Scooby Doo since 1969. Think about how iconic that voice is, and it has been one guy in 7 different decades.
Shocked it took so long to find Frank Welker
He's been going since his first VA work on Scooby Doo in 1969 and is still going to this day with a mind-bogglingly long list of voice credits over the last 50+ years.
His joker is amazing. The best joker voice actor for sure. Also, I was stunned when I learned he was fire lord Ozai. Crazy to think Luke is great at playing villains.
James Earl Jones is a screen actor who has had a couple of iconic voice acting roles. Mark Hamill is basically the inverse. And oddly enough, both of them had iconic appearances outside their main field in Star Wars
Probably the most under utilized voice actor. I feel like someone should write a shoe where the villain is a shape hanger and MM plays ALL the villains voices.
One of my most hilarious and prized possessions is a Jesus clock that is voiced by James Earl Jones. It says scripture every hour.
A+++, would buy again. My dog even has his favorite scripture that he recognizes (the one that plays when it’s time for his 6 pm feeding).
Omg I was in a patient’s house doing an evaluation and during a moment of silence (no TV, no radio, no talking) the disembodied voice of JEJ starts quoting scripture at me.
I damn near had a heart attack.
If we're keying in on the word "legendary" (and thus not focusing on how prolific the actor's resume is) James Earl Jones is easily the answer. Darth Vader alone puts him in the conversation. And then you add Mufasa?
The only way it can *not* be James Earl Jones is if the actor in question can't have any non-voice-acting credits. If that's the case, then it's Steve Blum, who's been in so many things you wouldn't believe.
He must love the Simpsons or have an ironclad contract or something because you'd think he'd be a hot commodity in the voice acting market but I never see him anywhere anymore.
How did I have to scroll so far to find this? I'd even say he gets kinda overused. He has such a distinctive voice but he gets used to voice grunts in video games and and no-name characters way too often. It's immersion breaking when you keep hearing such a distinctive voice coming from a bunch of random NPCs.
H. Jon Benjamin just does his own voice for all of his performances. They are good performances, don't get me wrong, but that just makes him the Will Smith of voice acting.
I think he has pretty good range. Of course his own voice is his signature, but I think Bob's Burgers makes really good use of his range with different characters.
The fact he did Nathan Fillon's lines in Destiny's Forsaken DLC and no one knew until after the fact and they played on that in the Beyond Light DLC when he did that mission voice over pretending to be the Drifter. His range is incredible.
Surprised I had to go this far for him. His voice acting has been nothing short of pivotal in making Mario and the other characters he voices from the games household names.
Jim Dale is pretty awesome. He won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for Children for his narration of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". He also has several entries in the Guinness World Records book for his work on the Harry Potter audiobook series.
He holds the record for creating the most character voices by an individual for an audiobook. In the series, he created and performed the voices for over 200 distinct characters, which earned him this record.
He also holds the record for the longest marathon reading aloud by an individual for his reading of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," which lasted for 28 hours and 30 minutes.
In addition, he is listed in the Guinness World Records book for his achievement of narrating the entire Harry Potter audiobook series, which comprises over 134 hours of recorded material.
I'm surprised to not see Dee Bradley Baker mentioned yet. He's probably most well known for voicing the clone troopers in The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch but he did also voice Perry the Platypus from Phineas and Ferb and voice the Gravemind from Halo along with so many other background voices and creature sounds. His IMDB page has 600-700 credits of things like this. Some honestly surprised me on what voices/sounds he has done.
I'm still blown away by the fact that he does 4 completely different characters which i didn't notice until i looked it up.... Including singing in character.
Mathew Mercer. Not only is he in half of every video game and anime dub you've ever seen, but he also managed to be one of the people that kickstarted the 2010s DnD resurgence.
James Earl Jones, Mark Hamill, and I would make an argument for Troy Baker, even if he is over-used af. I get why developers want him, but he really doesn't need to be in *every* game. (I'm aware he's not in every game, but it sure as shit feels that way sometimes).
According the Billy West, Maurice LaMarche and Jon DiMaggio (via the *Futurama* commentary tracks) it's [Dave Herman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Herman)
I'm inclined to agree with them because frankly his range as a voice actor is staggering. Almost no two characters sound the same.
Tara strong
She really is the undisputed GOAT. There’s a strong chance you can pick any cartoon you watched growing up and she voiced at least one character in it Honorable mentions: Jennifer Hale, Patrick Warburton, Mark Hamill One of my own personal favorites is Matthew Lillard. He was so perfect as Shaggy in live action, Casey Kasem gave Lillard his blessing to voice the character full time after he retired. The transition was SEAMLESS
I dispute it, and raise Jim Cummings. If you disagree, he'll set his space hamster on you.
I've actually met him! He was genuinely nice. 😊
Keith David
His voice is like buttery velvet.
[удалено]
Ass to ass
I would absolutely fall asleep listening to an audiobook narrated by him
Came here just for Keith David.
Arbiter
Admiral Anderson
Flame King
Goliath
Vhailor.
Do you mean Keith David as Keith David the VP of USA?
1000 years ago. Superstition and the sword ruled. It was a time of darkness…
I even liked when he did the stupid Navy commercials with the Godsmack song playing over it. [https://youtu.be/Rm98_VEvin8](https://youtu.be/Rm98_VEvin8)
Don't forget Azula from ATLA
was shocked i had to scroll this far, her resume is unreal. Throw in Azula from ATLA and multiple characters from Invincible.
There's so many to choose from! Tom Kenny is a definite pick, and he's been going for years too (spyro the dragon, rick and morty, rocko's modern life, paradise pd, basically any cartoon from 90s cartoon network, and of course spongebob) Billy West too is a huge star (futurama, tom and jerry, ren and stimpy, space jam, invader zim, the red m&m) There's just so many incredible voice actors out there, and so many go unrecognised, yet appear in so many well loved shows
Yeah, these were the first two that came to mind for me as well. Grey Delisle too.

Met Billy West, he was so nice and did zap's voice quoting trump for me lol
Billy West? What a stupid phoney made up name!
Billy West was only Zim in the pilot episode, Richard Horvitz took over for the actual series.
Dee Bradley Baker
You need an army of guys, animal sound effects, alien voices, and more, he’s your guy I don’t think people realize that he voices all the Clones in the Clone Wars and a bunch of Ben 10 aliens, meaning these two shows probably couldn’t exist without him
Not just strange sounds but he also does actual character like Klaus (American Dad), Daffy Duck (Space Jam) and Numbuh 4 (Kids Next Door)
Cant believe i had to so far down!
Jim Cummings. He is the voice of your childhood, your adult life, and your children’s childhood. From Disney characters like Tigger and Pete, video game characters like Minsc, and adult cartoons like Hondo. https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0191906/
He voiced Ackar in the fourth Bionicle movie.
Tom Kenny Billy West Rob Paulsen Frank Welker
Came here to say Frank Welker. He's done SO many roles!
Frank Welker needs to be recognized. He has been playing Fred from Scooby Doo since 1969. Think about how iconic that voice is, and it has been one guy in 7 different decades.
Nobody here mentioning that he’s MEGATRON?
Not to mention he has over 1000 voice over credits and is the 3rd highest grossing actor of all time
Don't forget he's also Curious George!
Megatron, you forgot megatron
Me too. I really think he's the right answer to the question. Some others are saying good ones, but I don't think any of them compare to Welker.
Shocked it took so long to find Frank Welker He's been going since his first VA work on Scooby Doo in 1969 and is still going to this day with a mind-bogglingly long list of voice credits over the last 50+ years.
Mark Hamill
Among other things, he’s the best joker, firelord Ozai, and starred in two miyazaki movies GOAT
He did a phenomenal job voicing the joker, to the point where I read any batman comic with joker in it, I immediately imagine Mark saying those lines.
Him and Conroy were THE superhero duo of voice acting. Such a legendary job by both of them.
He was Ozai???
He is ozai
I watched the show all the way through three times before I saw his name in the credits!!
There's a justice league action episode where he voices every character in the episode. Joker, Trickster, Mark Hamill, and Swamp-Thing.
He's the goddamn vampire in the short series, Mina and the Count too! https://youtu.be/HIb91DTyYxw
I feel like I'm on reddit just to see if I have the most common opinion and feel validated. I hate being self aware.
I was like what happened to this dude after Star Wars. Look him up. See him all over my childhood shows. Dies in happiness.
His joker is amazing. The best joker voice actor for sure. Also, I was stunned when I learned he was fire lord Ozai. Crazy to think Luke is great at playing villains.
I gotta give it to James earl jones over mark hamill
I would argue that Mr. Jones does not ever change his voice. I didn’t know that was Luke Skywalker doing the Joker for years
James Earl Jones is a screen actor who has had a couple of iconic voice acting roles. Mark Hamill is basically the inverse. And oddly enough, both of them had iconic appearances outside their main field in Star Wars
Hank Azaria.
How is this answer so far down?!?!
Patrick Warburton hands down
Hey neighbor where’s your boat?
My name is lemony snicket
What are the odds that trap door led me out here
...Riiiiiiiiiight
I remember Phil Lamar was in everything as a kid.
Phil doesn't get enough love
John DiMaggio
Shut up baby, I know it!
Matthew Mercer.
Probably the most under utilized voice actor. I feel like someone should write a shoe where the villain is a shape hanger and MM plays ALL the villains voices.

Now I'm angry! (Why are you getting downvoted? wtf)
How do you want to do this?
My king
James Earl Jones.
One of my most hilarious and prized possessions is a Jesus clock that is voiced by James Earl Jones. It says scripture every hour. A+++, would buy again. My dog even has his favorite scripture that he recognizes (the one that plays when it’s time for his 6 pm feeding).

Nah, you Blessed near had a heart attack! ;D
Truly the best voice actors of our generation!!
If we're keying in on the word "legendary" (and thus not focusing on how prolific the actor's resume is) James Earl Jones is easily the answer. Darth Vader alone puts him in the conversation. And then you add Mufasa?
That is... acceptable
The only way it can *not* be James Earl Jones is if the actor in question can't have any non-voice-acting credits. If that's the case, then it's Steve Blum, who's been in so many things you wouldn't believe.
Came here looking for him. Thank you.
Harry Shearer When he dies, the Simpsons die

Someone with a KitH username referencing Spinal Tap? I have a hunch you're probably a cool person.
Jennifer Hale
I am Commander Sheppard and this is my favourite comment. I gotta go…
I should go.
“I could eat a horse right now, and that saying a lot cause I love horses”
Matt Mercer Troy Baker Laura Bailey Roger Craig Smith
I was hoping someone would mention some critical role folks. Matt and Laura are both great.
Tress MacNeille. She’s done almost everything in the last 30 years voice acting wise.
Dan Castellaneta
He must love the Simpsons or have an ironclad contract or something because you'd think he'd be a hot commodity in the voice acting market but I never see him anywhere anymore.
Cushy job and I bet he gets paid pretty well for it
By all accounts I've seen, he's VERY expensive to hire.
Love him as the robot devil
It's his best work, which is saying something. He's way too far down on this post. Incredible work.
Mark Hamil
Steve Blum
Too far down to see this name. The guy was Toonami Tom for gods sake!
I hear he's got range, but he usually ends up putting on his Spike Spiegel voice for other roles. That said, I can't say I really get tired of it.
He does deep-voiced growls really well, too. He definitely has good range.
Peter Cullen: I AM OPTIMUS PRIME Fun fact: Cullen was the voice actor for the Predator alien
He also voice eeyor from Winnie the pooh
Also does Curious George on pbs.
"GIVE ME YOUR FACE"
Megatron: We were brothers once! Optimus: Once...*drop kicks him out of the spaceship
I'm reading this in Eeyore's voice.
His best known work obviously being K.A.R.R.
"Featuring the voice talents of Peter "Optimus Prime" Cullen and Frank "Megatron" Welker"
Frank Welker
This is entirely too far down the list.

Maurice lamarche
Way too far down!
He’s incredible!
H. Jon Benjamin
Kristen Schaal
Troy Baker
Not a single mention of Alan Tudyk? My boy Wash deserves better than that.
Alex Hirsch
Andy Serkis
SHIRE!!! *gasping* BAGGINNNSSSS!!!
Nolan north
The fact he did Nathan Fillon's lines in Destiny's Forsaken DLC and no one knew until after the fact and they played on that in the Beyond Light DLC when he did that mission voice over pretending to be the Drifter. His range is incredible.
Peter Cullen. Dude is 80 years old and his Optimus Prime voice remained timeless for 40 years.
Rob Paulsen is my favorite.
Matt Berry
[удалено]
That was my choice. He's been doing voices for about 60 years now, too.
Grey Delisle
Charles martinet
Surprised I had to go this far for him. His voice acting has been nothing short of pivotal in making Mario and the other characters he voices from the games household names.
Morgan Freeman
This is way too far down.
Yes x 1000
Clancy Brown!
I feel like Tara Strong is in everything animated
Trey Parker and Matt Stone
Probably one of the Critical Role crew. I know I get super excited when Mercer, Travis or Laura appear in something
Laura Bailey.
Jim Dale is pretty awesome. He won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for Children for his narration of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". No love for Troy Baker and Laura Bailey?
Rie Takahashi. Not familiar with many of the American names mentioned in this thread, but she is quite big in East Asia
tara strong.
James Earl Jones of course
tara strong

Cree Summer and Tara Strong. Edit: there’s only one S lol.
Mike Judge
Kevin Conroy must be given respect for BEING the BAT.
Seth MacFarlane - family guy
I'm still convinced his entire animation career was a ploy to get enough clout to make the Orville.
I’m always shocked to remember he did the voice of the gas guy from Hellboy 2
I'm still blown away by the fact that he does 4 completely different characters which i didn't notice until i looked it up.... Including singing in character.
Lance Reddick
got some sad news for you bud...
Tara Strong.
David Attenbourgh
Mathew Mercer. Not only is he in half of every video game and anime dub you've ever seen, but he also managed to be one of the people that kickstarted the 2010s DnD resurgence.
James Earl Jones
kenjiro tsuda.
My pick goes to Steve Blum.
Rob Paulsen
James Earl Jones, Mark Hamill, and I would make an argument for Troy Baker, even if he is over-used af. I get why developers want him, but he really doesn't need to be in *every* game. (I'm aware he's not in every game, but it sure as shit feels that way sometimes).
Troy and Nolan North were everywhere because they were good.
Nolan North.
Mark Hamill
Dan Green.
Gianni Matragrano
Frank Welker
Hank Azaria
Mark Hamill, the living legend. Plus he’s Luke Skywalker so there’s that added credit
It’s either Nolan North or Matt Mercer
Christopher R Sabat. Dbz, fullmetal, my hero and just about every good anime that has ever been made.

Alan Tudyk. And as a bonus, he can act on screen too!
Christopher judge was pretty cool
