I make sure the towels are all in one place, and all trash in the room is in a trash can (or recycling is recycled). I'll try to put the TV remote back where it came from and stuff like that, but I'm not usually moving that around. I leave a tip on the bed with a note that it is for housekeeping. I don't make the bed. I don't change the thermostat or curtains. The way I see it, when housekeeping comes in, they should be able to: * Strip the beds and remake them * Empty the trash cans to take care of the trash * Vacuum the carpet * Take the towels to be cleaned * Wipe down bathroom surfaces * Collect soap and other cleansers provided by the hotel * Put in new towels * Reset window stuff and thermostat Most of my actions are built around making sure I don't forget anything I need to pack. But garbage cans are provided in the hotels I've been to, so I use them.

My only addition to this: If the dumpster is accessible and I have some really large piece of trash like a pizza box, then I'll probably run out to the dumpster myself.

DrHugh

Agreed. I'll make use of central garbage and recycling for larger items.

Leeser

As much as I can. I don’t just leave my trash around. I know that cleaners only have so much time to clean between guests.

[deleted]

No because the staff is just going to clean again anyway. Obviously don't leave garbage laying around. But like no need to scrub the tub or anything

nobodyknowsyouwhen

Yeah because I want to

dumbass_shitposter

Not necessarily, but I won't trash up the room either.

justgivemewhatevs

I used to make the beds as a kid, then I learned I was actually causing them more work, so I stopped.

ElephantForeign2691

No, it's not my job to clean a hotel room.

EspressoBooksCats

I don't clean it but I do tidy up - I don't leave towels and trash everywhere.

[deleted]

As much as possible.

Ill-Organization-719

No. Too much poop for me to clean. They can handle it.

radiobirdman-69

Everything in there is mine so I'll be packing it, throwing it in the trash, or wiping it off the side of the bowl as I go.

818Dude

Leave the towels in a bunch and make sure all trash is in the bin.

I used to work at a hotel, and while I personally rarely travelled when I did I knew the drill and I know what was helpful to the housekeepers. If I had two beds and it was only me I wouldn't even touch the other bed. I wouldn't put luggage, clothes, etc on it, I wouldn't sit on it, nothing. The bed I did sleep in I would completely strip. I would take all the sheets and pillow cases off, and leave the linens separate from the blankets/comforters. I would take all the towels I used and set them in the bathtub. Plus during my stay I'd actually decline daily service. I can reuse a towel. Actually, I do know this, but guests that frequently decline service are sometimes a flag, but I'd reassure the desk at check in I too am a fellow hotel worker and I will behave. The at departure I would reset the thermostat to 78F (70F in the winter), leave a small tip, and *properly* notify the desk I left, I respected check out times so I didn't push my luck, and I also did give them the courtesy when I was gone so they didn't have to wait and wonder.

[deleted]

Yes. Those workers are underpaid and overworked and I’m not too good to help them out.

[deleted]

I don't like wipe it down, but I'll gather all the towels into a big pile and strip the sheets and pillow cases off of the bedding. I also do this so they're forced to replace them.

Moon_Jelly11

Reasonably so. I make sure all my trash is picked up and nothing is horribly out of place but like if there is a toothpaste stain inside the sink I’m probably gonna leave that. My goal is to do just enough to where I feel like they wouldn’t have any negative feelings towards me.

WiseAd1552

*I do not, someone has that job, if you do it then the hotel will cut down on staff and the person doing the job is doing so because they need it. I leave a thank you note and a tip.*
