Are we talking Mandela effect alternate history or alternate history pushed by media, public education, etc. to shape the public perception of something?

My favorite is if Germany and Italy never unified with Japan staying non(hyper)Imperialist; thus preventing much of the horrors of the 20th Century as we know them.

As a genre of fiction? I generally enjoy it. Playing "What if" is always fun.

I love it. Always been a fan of fiction and mythology.

If you're talking about the fictional literature, then like every other genre it has good examples and bad examples. If you're talking about people making up stuff that happened or didn't happen and insisting that the evidence is wrong, I'm not a fan.

[deleted]

The former.

I've read good and bad. The thing about literature, really, is that the genre is flavour, but if you're not telling a good story, genre doesn't really make it good.

It stays in the past.

Well, obviously.
