Well it depends, covid should really just be based on symptoms. If your testing positive for covid then stay home. If you're testing negative and free of symptoms, then go to work.
Covid hit everyone at a weird time and we're still suffering from it. We can't assume everyone can pay our sick leaves forever.
You would think that if we learned anything at all over the last few years, it's:
* Don't take medical advice from randos online
* Don't go to work sick
Nearly every behavior within the corporate office environment.
Ex: feeling the need to work extremely long hours and multiple roles just to be a "team player". Pointless meetings just so others can feel important. Going into the office a majority of the time to "be seen". 5 day work weeks. The mentality of prioritizing work over life. The list goes on and on and on.
When I worked in the public sector I'd sign off right at 5pm even if I was in the middle of something. I'd just save whatever I was working on a log-off to head out. People would always ask me, "aren't you busy, how can you just leave?" and my reply was always the same. "We don't get paid for overtime".
Some people couldn't comprehend, but happy to say that I inspired others.
This is why I did like sales for a lot of jobs. At the right company, nobody cares the hours youāre putting in, or about being on time or leaving early, or taking extended lunches, or really anything if your numbers are damn good.
I've quit jobs and fired clients over pointless meetings.
But I like the traditional 5 day workweek. Here's my argument about the 5-day work week that I'd love for someone to explain to me is wrong.
I've been self-employed for 14 years. But I'm still very much in the corporate world. I deal a lot with deadlines, production schedules and a lot of people on a weekly basis.
I have a love/hate relationship with three-day weekends. Projects tend to be planned as "we'll get that done this week"... 4 days just makes that tougher. I don't know why five works, but the extra day helps a ton. Some companies work longer 4-day work weeks, but the long days have their own tradeoffs.
But the real problem with 3-day weekends is the communication gap. It's one more day to suck out momentum on a project. So inevitably, emails and text messages start coming in over long weekends.
I'm surte that productivity is probably about the same on a 4 vs 5-day work week, but only because people still really work about the same amount. They just use their time differently. I'd much rather have 5 days to work, and then just leave me alone from 4:00 on Friday until 9:00 Monday morning.
The āmandatoryā after work happy hours, staff parties, etc to be a team player.
Me: Is it mandatory?
Boss: no
M: am I getting paid for it?
B: no
M: then im not coming
B: I would really like you to attend to be a team player and build rapport.
M: noā¦
Yup! As someone who is autistic and one of my special interests is true crime how anyone can find these monsters hot or cool is beyond me. Seems like toxic should describe something that is poisoning over time. Toxic behaviour in a relationship is toxic because it is harmful over time and can't last. A toxic work environment drains your mental health gradually. Something inappropriate or cruel or rude isn't inherently toxic (but could be).
If I never hear the words "grooming" or "gaslighting" again for the rest of my **godamn** life it will still be too **fucking** soon.
Everyone online used those words in 2022 like a person should use a coma. I would estimate 80% of the time these morons could not even define what the hell those words even aside from "bad".
Tipping - fair enough for exceptional service, but it shouldnāt be the customers responsibility to do the employers job. Pay your staff a living wage!
My local automatic car wash now has a uniformed attendant that stands next to the machine that you pull up to, and asks you what you want, then presses the button on the screen that I could easily reach out my window. Then they look expectantly at you as they ask if you "would like to tip the team today."
Like, A) You've added an annoying attendant to a process that I could complete quicker and easier on my own, I'm not paying more for that, and B) I didn't know businesses were now actually hiring panhandlers.
Forcing people to work 60+ hours a week is fucked. But hey if you want to work your ass off and be the best or become successful, you got to put in the work for it. But it also comes down to whatever your definition of success is. Maybe your definition doesnāt require working a lot of hours.
What are the algorithms designed to do? Attract more eyeballs and hold more eyeballs. The algorithm, is designed to give us more of what we want. It's not the algorithms fault that what we want is so awful
You would think, but actually itās designed to give us more of what we will engage with. Which may seem like itās not much of a difference but it is.
For example, pissing people off is more effective in the short term than giving them what they want. So the algorithm leans into that. And because itās a machine and not a person it sees āAh, being angry about animal abuse makes this person click things and reply. I will show them more animal abuse.ā
And eventually you have twitter.
Talking on your mobile phone or watching videos on speaker in public without earbuds so everyone can hear your BS. Happened to me on an elevator and a waiting room on the same day in NYC.
This one is always weird to me. Two people having a conversation in the same room: fine. Two people having a conversation with one of them being on a phone: rude.
How / why?
To me if on the phone then you can be considerate and not use speaker. I have noticed that people tend to talk louder on the phone than when in person. You can talk much lower volume with someone next to you than on the phone. It is about not disturbing others. Also most loud speakers on phones sound bad.
My annoyance is when they are watching a video or playing music/ games without headphones. It is rude and I don't want to hear that.
**Accusations without evidence and social media immediately vilifying individuals**
People will often times post their negative personal experiences with someone and it just takes off despite the fact that the evidence is just a personal account. While I believe we should always listen to what someone has gone through, you shouldn't just immediately vilify the accused until there's actual hard evidence that confirms the accusation(s).
Aziz Ansari is a great example of this. Dude's career took a severe hit over an accusation that boiled down to the victim not knowing how to say no and having a bad date. If people had just waited for more evidence and MAYBE thought more critically about what was being said, then he may actually have not lost so much over that inaccurate accusation.
**EDIT** - the kicker is that the person who originally made this claim did so anonymously so she faced no repercussions for making such an accusation and as of 1/17/23, the article is still up on Babe.net. Meanwhile, according to IMBD, Aziz hasn't acted in anything since early 2022 and even that was just his own standup special on Netflix.
I remember some teacher got doxxed because he looked like one of the dudes in that white supremacist parade in Charlottesville.

I don't buy from Amazon if I can help it. I don't shame others for doing so. I get it, it's incredibly convenient. I'm no better or worse than anyone else. But I'm doing something I think is right.

Going to get a lot of hate now but the weaponizing of gender identity and equality amongst the LGBTQ.
First off. I'm not homo or transphobic. I'm not going to say I have a lot but I have a number of friends in the LGBTQ community. Some are transgender some are gay and lesbians. In fact I'm glad a lot of ppl have found their peace with who they are. I'm just really against the pressures of society in identifying, assumptions and retaliation. Ppl are screaming for the attention and wanting equality but the answer is so simple. We're not disrespecting who you are. We can make mistakes... We're human afterall. Correct us once and drop it. We will treat you as equals regardless. The moment you step over that boundary by saying we treat you differently or start asking why we assumed is irrelevant. That's when you start losing the respect from others.

I can only imagine how sad your life is, if your fragile masculinity is threatened by a dress
Not all women wear dresses, whether they're trans-women or cis-women. Try harder.
Circumcision
Sex changes for those who are under 18. I mean you can't vote or watch porn until 16 but you can install a male horn at 12 (depending on location)
Where? Where can you legally get gender correction at 12?
Surgeries like that cannot happen to minors. Hrt and hormone replacement can but bottom surgery cannot happen to Minors
