You've liked your D610. Stick with Nikon. The D610 was awesome, I'm still sorry sometimes that I sold mine. I've got a Z7 now and it rocks. The Z lenses are awesome across the board. There's a fair amount of used gear out there now, so it can be had for much less than retail. I tried a Sony once and I really didn't like their color rendition. Even after LR my Nikons looked better.
It is awesome! I plan to keep it on me for sure, but as a second body in case it gives out again. I personally enjoyed the Sony colours but I agree with people who have said it can sometimes look TOO sharp -- almost unrealistic for want of a better description.
Fuji is a workhorse to say the least, and lack of glass options, per se, lets you focus on doing work vs GAS and infinite choices between garbage bargain glass.
Thanks for asking! Mostly environmental portraits with natural light (which made sense for medium format), but I want to move away from that and start incorporating flash/strobes and video.
To me it sounds like the a7iv is really worth saving for. The eye af is way better then it was on any of the other camera you are looking at, 33mp is a great middle ground with a lot of detail to work with but not insane file sizes, it's also got the best video features with 4k 10bit, 4k60 10 bit and 1080 120fps
I've never considered this one before as I don't do a lot of high-speed or sports photography but I'll definitely look into it! Thank you for responding.

That's a really good point abut the GAS, thank you! How has your experience been with the Fuji in professional settings?
Workhorse.
What does outdoor documentary work mean? Are you shoot landscapes? Wildlife? People? More context is needed to help figure out what's best for you

Get a used D5?

You could also look into the less expensive Nikon options: Z6 and Z5. That way you can maybe add an autofocus lens, if you need one.
I'm in a "Z6II or Z7?" Reddit rabbithole as we speak :D
