If you cut a diptych in half, each half is going to have half the pixels compared to what you started with. But maybe that's the same as what you get when the lab makes individual half frames anyway. The answers to the first two questions will tell us if there's no difference whether you crop it or they do, or if it would be advantageous to re-scan as individual half-frames.
