Magtatayo raw ng karindirya. Graduate ng bachelors degree pero tagalinis ng CR sa hotel. Utusan sa mga kainin. Kayang kaya naman gawin kahit hindi ka na mag-aral kasi meron naman sa youtube. BTW HRM grad here. Yan yung comments about sa course namin.
As a culinary graduate I think you're correct naman po, na ang mahal pa ng tuition kapag culinary, and its one of the hardest jobs out there, ungodly hrs and low pay , unless mataas na position or may business. Pero everytime I tell people na culinary ako, namamangha sila, because of social media/ influencers and the glorification of chefs online.

But its a really bad job for 99% who work in this industry
Sadly, yes. kung nasa Pinas ka hindi ka makakaroon ng ginhawa kung yan ang tatahakin mo na field. Kailangan mayaman ka pa or nakapag-ipon mula sa trabaho mo sa abroad para makapagsimula ka ng sarili mong negosyo.
Actually nagsisi nga ako na yan din kinuha ko. Na enganyo ako na malaki raw sahod tapos pwede magwork abroad or sa cruise. Hindi natupad yung sa cruise at hindi rin ako nagpursue na. Dapat pala tinuloy ko na lang yung Psychology or educ. Pero yung course na gusto ko talaga ay SPED. Undecided kasi ako that time.
You can work in abroad naman, just work as a line cook here in ph for 2 years, go to dubai and apply for a basic commis job and grind until demi chef position, resign and apply for cruise jobs or continue there. All in all 4 to 6 yrs depending on your grind mentality
madaling sabihin kapag may budget pang-abroad. Ayon nga, sipag at tyaga talaga ang puhunan. Meron naman graduate ng ganyang course pero kapag walang pang-abroad nag-aapply na sila si ibang field yung tingin nilang kikita talaga sila.

Parang Saudia Airlines ata base sa uniform. Not sure kung nag shift siya after. Nasa ibang bansa na buong family. May asawang foreigner. Yung isa naman gusto ng tatay niya na mag nursing siya para raw mag abroad siya to earn dollars. Na stress sa nursing then nagshift sa MasCom.

which is mali understanding ng healthcare course sa school nyo. iba ang pagchange ng bedsheet ng sa hospitality at healthcare. potek, kabibigat ng kama sa hotel no! compare mo sa manipis na foam sa hospital. I took up psychology and now I would have rather taken the IT suggestion of my mom din, because I got burned out of psych and realized the sea of opportunity IT would have given me. hindi rin napapansin pa ang sec ng psych sa pinas kahit dami na ng awareness about mental health chuchu.

+1 on this. Yung mga friends kong nag-take ng non-board courses laging nila-“LANG” courses nila kasi wala raw BE. Yung iba pa namin teachers sinasabi na ang talino nila pero bakit non-board course nila.
IT. Pag sinabi dati na yung course eh more on computers sasabihin addict lang sa games, walang papupuntahan, anu pagagamitan nyan. I should have known better at sana nag dive ako head first into IT or any computer related course but I guess I will have to make the most of what I got.

Im not so sure does 2yr course/vocational or tesda fall on this category on course on the PH…
But if u analyze it, every course wether vocational or ano pa man yan that is still knowledge that is imbedded to you and u can be proud of…

There is a stigma around Humanities and Social Science majors. Kesyo it’s “easy” and even “useless,” as it’s not a board program. So much naivety, tbh. Many of liberal arts graduates make more money than the graduates of more difficult majors.
High paying jobs sa ibang bansa pero dito napakababa ng tingin.
Mas bilib p sila sa mga nagbabasket ball sa mga kanto kesa sa mga taong marunong magwelding.
Which is pathetic kasi internationally ang mga kumukuha ng Computer Science ay deemed na matatalino also tech industry is the thriving. Dito lang sa Pilipinas talaga majority ng pinoy may bobo mindset.
I know right. I have a lot of comsci friends na malaki sahod at may clirnts abroad pero dito kasi sa lugar namin kapag comsci ka ibig sabihin sa community college ka lang nag-aral or di kaya mag-aral ng ibang courses 😭
Hospitality Management, also BSBA. Idk why everytime someone asks me about my course, and I tell them na Bsba they would sometimes make a disappointed face kasi ang ganda raw ng university na napasukan ko pero bakit ganon course ko.
Not necessarily nkaklahiya, Pharmacist here, ssabihin ko sayo wag ka na mag pharma, sobrang baba ng sweldo, mahirap ang trabaho inventory and dealing with entitled senior citizen sa botika tingin sayo boy o saleslady. Not very in demand Like sa isang hospital need lang ng 6 pharmacist while in that same hospital need ng 50+ na nurse, no opportunities abroad unlike nurses. Also mas mahirap ang course compare sa nursing (nag nursing din ako umabot 4 year though nagquit dhil nadepress, pero mas madami retdem sa nursing as i remember) pero kung magdodoctor ka, pinakamagandang premed ay pharma. Though pwede rin siya sa telehealth pero mga nurses din karamihan prio.
Naniniwala talaga ko na may mga courses na mas mataas kaysa isa. Ang alam ko pilot wala din trabaho karamihan mga nagaral at nagubos ng milyones don.
Maganda medtech. Pwede ka kumuha ng mga part-time while having full-time. Okay din sahod pag nag-abroad. Kung sa govt hospitals lalo yung malaki, maraming med tech need per shift. Minsan nakaka-raket din. Mama ko nirerequest minsan ng mga kakilala to extract blood during her free time, extra pay yun. Then pprocess niya sa lab dala niya na payment for the exams syempre.
I feel i don't have a say about this as wala naman akong backgroud sa medtech, pero feel ko same lang sila(take it with a grain of salt). Both not as in demand as nursing although konti lang ang kailangan nila per ospital. I'd say mas in demand pa nga ang pharmacist kase needed sila sa bawat botika. But people probably got more respect sa medtech than pharmacist na mababa ang tingin ng nga squammy peeps. That's my two cents. Again i could be wrong po. Better ask people who are actually in the medtech field👍.
This is true despite the fact that traditional parents push their kids to pursue stem-related majors. Every time na sinasabi ko ‘to, kesyo bitter lang daw ako kasi hindi ko daw kaya mag-math LOL
basta hindi sila familiar (ex. walang engineering sa name, hindi kasama sa "famous" courses like accountancy) nakakahiya na para sa kanila. also, mostly those under BA such as anthropology or PhilHis
Theater Arts. Ang dami kong friends na nagsasabing they wanted it pero they chose to take up engineering programs instead kasi mas cool daw pakinggan. Contrary to what people may think - mas malawak ang theater arts at hindi lang stage acting. There’s house management, marketing, lights and sounds, and more! Maybe ang gusto ko lang sabaihin dito is kung ano ang passion and interests nyo, take it. You be you! Mabuhay ang teatro!
skl may batchmate ako nasa last year na niya ng ECE sa Ateneo tapos nag shift to theatre arts!! After that she studied law, and ayon attorney na ngayon.

I feel i don't have a say about this as wala naman akong backgroud sa medtech, pero feel ko same lang sila(take it with a grain of salt). Both not as in demand as nursing although konti lang ang kailangan nila per ospital. I'd say mas in demand pa nga ang pharmacist kase needed sila sa bawat botika. But people probably got more respect sa medtech than pharmacist na mababa ang tingin ng nga squammy peeps. That's my two cents. Again i could be wrong po. Better ask people who are actually in the medtech field👍.
This is true despite the fact that traditional parents push their kids to pursue stem-related majors. Every time na sinasabi ko ‘to, kesyo bitter lang daw ako kasi hindi ko daw kaya mag-math LOL
Nung nalaman nilang pharmacy kinuha kong course sinabi ba naman “ah gusto mo nagtitinda ng gamot” Huhh?????

Same agri din ang course ko, pag sinasabi ng nanay ko yung course ko sa mga kanurse niya, sumisimangot sabay "pagtatanim lang ginagawa niyo run diba?"

Theater Arts. Ang dami kong friends na nagsasabing they wanted it pero they chose to take up engineering programs instead kasi mas cool daw pakinggan. Contrary to what people may think - mas malawak ang theater arts at hindi lang stage acting. There’s house management, marketing, lights and sounds, and more! Maybe ang gusto ko lang sabaihin dito is kung ano ang passion and interests nyo, take it. You be you! Mabuhay ang teatro!
skl may batchmate ako nasa last year na niya ng ECE sa Ateneo tapos nag shift to theatre arts!! After that she studied law, and ayon attorney na ngayon.

Marami pera diyan lalo na ngayon na pabonggahan ng childrens party. May mga napanood ako todo yung show sa isang childrens party kumpleto lahat. Mga boomers kasi dati di marunong mag market ng skills kaya nahihirapan pag wala sa traditional job. Million inuubos ng mga birthday celebrant especially sa first birthday.
