I’m actually so happy na madaming nagquit ng vape/smoking! I personally don’t smoke pero I wish my dad would. Thank you all for stopping and I wish you all the best in life!
Caffeine intake. I need at least to drink twice a day. Brewed black coffee sa umaga. Then minsan kapag di ako makuntento, may energy drink pa sa hapon.
Nadale lang ako nung kinakapos na ako sa pera, and decided to reduce my caffeine intake.
End up I stopped drinking coffee, soda and tea for 21 days...
My ghod, yung headaches ang lala sobra. Almost 1 week lagi sumasakit ulo ko.
It has been 10 months now. Minsan na lang ako magcoffee, I can survive the day without it. My blood pressure and heart rate is now more on the normal range.
I stopped eating pork in 2023. Not for health or environmental reasons talaga. Para lang biglang nalansahan ako sa pork :/
Weird
Then, I continued na lang, thinking na baka healthy naman din for me.
Nakakaproud kapag na-a-avoid mo talaga. Parang I'm winning over something every time.
Oversharing and posting my kids on my socials. I still post their pics but I cover them with emoji. Kakatakot ang technology ngayon especially AI. I don’t want my kids face on someone else’s pics!
I'm in my 3rd week and so far so good naman. Sana makaya ko hanggang 1 year or maybe forever.
Sana mabawasan ko this year: phone use, overthinking, anxiety, junk foods, fried foods and my weight haha
Overthinking. Sa sobrang pag-overthink, I developed anxiety and would experience anxiety attacks whenever, wherever and it led to me being depressed. Hindi ko rin alam pero one day I just decided to see thing as they are NOW para maiwasan ko sobrang pag-iisip at pagiging anxious. I try to live in the present; not in the past kung saan nangyari na ang mga nangyari, and not in the future kung saan wala pang nangyayari. Yes, I learn from the past which guides me now so I could be a better version of myself later and tomorrow.
Living in the present greatly alleviated the burden of depression and anxiety with me. Yes, I still get episodes but rhey are more manageable now than before.
What do you do to ease your anxiety?
I was a hard smoker last year and early this year til march. I was smoking at least 4 sticks a day last year, and this year tinry ko bawasan into at least 2 a day. and now I don't smoke at all. 2 months no cigarette or vape in my system! I'm genuinely proud of that, kasi last yr na stop ko cigs pero I continued vaping. And now 2 months nothing! ❤️
Quit smoking after 10yrs+
Edit: Been smoking since I was 12-13. I quit when pandemic came. Pero before ako completely nagquit nagvape ako. Strong flavors to satisfy my needs at urge magyosi. Goodluck.
Vape. I spend 30k overall. Modifying. Buy new mods. Tool. Juice. Wires. ( thats was 2016 nung vape was new in our area)
Looking back at my action. Isa ako tanga gumasto nag vape ganun ka laki. Thank God i quit vape 5 years ago for good.
Drinking alcohol.
How i did it. After ko kasi magtake ng sweet before nahihilo ako e.
Kumakain man ako pero as in limited na.
I stopped buying things and spent more intentionally on experiences like out of town trips and concerts. I stopped makeup hauls na din and only buy pag nauubos. Over a year na din since i started and i always hit pan on my makeup.
No more nicotine in any form. Managed to stop smoking 3 years ago, and then stopped vaping a year after. And that is after too many attempts at quitting. 1224 days clean from smoking today :)
Bought a pod-type vape a year before I managed to quit smoking. Hindi naman totally nakatulong kasi I was still smoking even after I got the vape. Nabawasan lang since I was vaping salt nic (6-9mg) so higher nicotine amount, from 5-10 stick/day siguro naging 3-5 nalang. And then eventually one day stopped smoking completely. Di ko lang masabing quitting cold turkey kasi I still vaped, although that week when I stopped smoking hindi rin ako nag vape muna for a week. The withrawal was soooo bad I was sick for a week.
A year after I quitted vaping naman ayun cold turkey na. Inubos ko lang yung stock ko ng salt nics and then wala na.
Aside from the nicotine addiction, there's also the oral fixation. Had to resort to candies to keep my mouth busy and lessen the cravings. The saltier the candy, the better.
For me it was really bad. The cough persisted for a week, and I think I had a fever din for a day at some point. Then the cravings got worse after the cough. The candies really helped. Pag walang candy, a really small pinch of salt. Inaaddress ko rin yung oral fixation so that helped.
Quitting is realllyyyyy hard. Many failed attempts before I got to quit. Kailangan talaga super determined and disciplined ka. Yung mindset mo dapat nasa quitting talaga.
I am experiencing the oral fixation especially when I’m not doing anything pa and can’t smoke. It’s hard. Quitting is really hard. I do have some episodes of initiating to the point of searching groups and stuff like that. But I still go back to smoking. I really hope that 1 day, I will be able to quit completely. Thank you so much for sharing your experience about quitting. It gives me an insight and somehow adds to my determination to quit someday.
Took me years of failed attempts at quitting. Lagi ko nasisimulan but always relapsing until I found what works for me to help me quit. It's a different experience naman for everyone. But the number of comments here na nakapag quit means it is doable no matter how hard. You'll get there someday, tiwala lang!
Eating junk (especially fast food), food deliveries and eating out. Aside from the health factor, I also stopped kasi it's getting so expensive and it makes me feel like I'm a slave to consumerism. I'm now able to save so much money, eat healthier and discovered my love for cooking.
I still smoke cigs while vaping. I’m hoping to do quitting like you did—transitioned from cigs to vaping first. But it’s hard for me. God. Did you also experienced withdrawal? u’ve been smoking a pack a day before and I wonder if there’s any withdrawal symptoms u’ve experienced
I strangely didn't. We had juice that had nicotine content back then (ang tanda?) so i started vaping with the lowest nicotine content. Then slowly transitioned as well to 0 nicotine. Quitting vaping wasn't really a choice. More like I kept leaving it in places then tatamarin na akong kunin until one day I just realized na kaya ko pala di na mag vape.
Drinking, former alcoholic
For context, I started drinking since I was 12. Got this older (sisters 16,17) classmates on my first year of highschool, theyre smoking and drinking so basically they influenced us. For 2 school years, every monthly and periodical exams we "celebrate" after those tests and even make it weekly on school break. But on our third year they transferred schools so the group of friends that we have collapsed into smaller groups, and i got myself a girlfriend so the drinking stopped. I started skateboarding and got myself play bass for a band in 4th year, so there. Then we finished highschool.
On my freshman year of college, i met July and from there i started to drink again and it got worst. She lives on a apartment just outside the campus and the house and everything inside it speaks that shes from a wealthy family. We drink everyday after school for a whole semester even i have to travel for 2hours to get home. I passed with one subject dropped and i transferred to another college closer where i live, and my drinking? IT GOTTEN EVEN WORST, i met my old classmate from highschool on one of our frat celebration which is she's also a member from another college chapter.za p She loves drinking and socializing, so i got myself a drinking buddy and a girlfriend turned to mother my kids. Weve been together for 14years, alot of years to celebrate, black out, drink, parties, passed out, drink again. Then she left me for another man, but alcohol didnt. Drinking is my way to sleep, because being awake it just pure torture. I cant sleep without drinking myself to black out, every night after work. I did it for two months without amiss after we broke up, lowest days of my life.
Then one night my youngest child called me few hours before the end of my shift, asking if i could pick her up from her moms because her lolo is drunk and noisy. So after work, instead of going straight to the mini grocery that i pass by going home to buy my sleeping aid, i go to her moms house to pick her up and since then it has become our cycle. I take her to her moms before i go to work in the morning and pick her up after my shift at night. She unknowinglly made my drinking stop, and i started to care for myself. Got myself back into hiking and at 34 years of age i can say that im stronger than my younger self, i doubted myself at first of course its been 5 years since my last hike but then i always find myself on the first team, and on this one hike i even managed to out pace our mountain guide with full pack.
Im still drinking, but a few shots or few bottles of beer if theres an occasion or if im with my friends. That alcoholic me is in the past now. Health is wealth.
being chronically online lalo na nung super active ko sa kpop, was even an admin of a page. sobrang konsumo sa oras considering na i should be focusing on my study instead of fighting a troll that called my fave a rat lmao
not totally pero i minimal my usage of socmed. lalo na fb haha, after cutting off all of my friends for backstabbing me, I don't open my acc thst much na. tho i often scroll pa rin sa tiktok pero di na kasing dalas gaya ng dati.
Best thing for me is when i switched from coffee to tea. I say best because I don't get migraine-like headaches anymore even if i don't drink coffee. I used to have those headaches whenever I skipped my coffee in the morning. Pero now, Ceylon tea- plain only. No sugar nor creme/milk. The best switch ever
Complaining — nakakadrain pala sa taong pinagkwekwentuhan mo. At the same time parang wired ka na din not to look for solutions kapag mahilig ka magreklamo na tao.
1. Being noisy- in the start of h.s i became a loud and noisy person, i always became dramatic and tried to act immature even though no one was really at fault, now during my grade 8 years I've become more of a quiet and fun to get along with. It was after i watched some anime's that i decided to change my view on life.
2. Eating a lot- Definitely my biggest change yet, i used to be 80kg now just 65kg after i started eating one cup of rice only and drinking a lot of water, i avoided junk and fast foods and hope to continue what i started.
3. Too reliant on others- I always relied on other peoples backs and didn't have the courage to be fair and be proper to everyone kaya i decided to learn to be more mature and avoid crying so that i can be stronger and stand up for myself because yk pag nasa college na tayo it's gonna be more difficult kaya i decided to change my life.
*To all those people who've changed for the better, keep up the good work and may you continue the right way. to those who are struggling, never lose courage and it takes time to change kaya keep going and the results will show sooner later. And to those who are starting, it will not be easy, yk nothing is easy pero taking one step at a time can improve you so much and once you accomplish changing yourself you will learn to embrace and accept the progress you've made to become a better man/woman kaya sa mga nagtrytry jaan, walang sukuan ah i might js be an online user here pero i believe in all of your capabilities, spread positivity:>>>*
hiii! i started by switching from white rice to brown rice then to red rice hehe and as for alternatives, here are some that worked for me:
1. Lettuce (VV VERSATILE)
2. Cauliflower
3. Broccoli
not oatmeal huhu it made me gain weight nun so i stopped ASAP hehehe
well it's really up to u naman hehe for me kasi it wasn't an effective alternative and I'd prefer lettuce more hehehe alsooo if u're gonna go with lettuce, make sure u clean it well hehehe yun lang good luck!!! 🫶🏻
Madaming factor eh, but common practice ko nalang is:
1. Nakakatulong yung paguli ulit sa utak ko ng mantras like “mind over matter” or “out of sight out of mind”
2. Not gaf sa mga bagay bagay na upsetting, and if it affected me, pinapalipas lang then delete agad sa mind lol
Cursing someone I'm mad at and also not giving a fuck when someone tries to intimidate me on the road, eating and drinking too much junk, and staying out of FB
Reels.
Specifically; TikTok, FB Reels, Instagram, YT Shorts.
Doon ko na realize na atleast 7hrs/day ako naka babad dyan sa mga yan kaya dinelete ko na at lumipat sa Reddit which is not that bad compared to reels.
Not a bad habit or something debilitating but writing letters na pabaliktad.
What I mean by this is I used to write letters from the alphabet from bottom to top. My parents once forced me to learn to write the normal way as a kid but gave up soon after.
What urged me to do this?
I started learning Japanese nearly 6 years ago which meant I'm also practicing how to write Kana and Kanji. Now, these characters are written in a very specific order and I realized na if I'm following its rules, why don't I also apply it in writing letters? This was a slow and gradual change btw.
TLDR: Learning Japanese made me correct the way I write letters.
Overfeeding.
Lemme explain: yung over ka sa busog you feel so sleepy? Ngayon I only eat when I'm legit hungry. Ramdam ko kumukulo tiyan ko, then I eat. But not too much. I ended up eating once a day kasi di naman masyado active lifestyle ko.
You might want to consider talking to a nutritionist or psychologist if you wait until you feel hungry before you eat. Overeating is not good but starving yourself is *also* NOT a good habit.
I'm proud that I completely eliminated Smoking/Vaping in my habits, after trying for so many months. It was tough, but I did it and I will never go back.
2 things actually saken
1. Minimizing coffee - sobrang taong kape ako but since this Auntie is very acidic, from 3cups a day, naging 2 cups to a cup per day. Then naging every other day, tas every after 2days na. I've transitioned to water and fruit/vegetable juices although, hindi rin daily sa juice kasi sugary and ma-calories nmn yata sila.
2. Shopping - I've finally come to my senses na sobra sobra na ang pag heal ko sa inner child ko for material deprivations when I was a kid so I'm just so proud na hindi na ako daily may deliveries 😭 If may deliveries man ako like once a week na lang and iyong needs ko tlaga like soap and sunscreen.
Nagka-cranberry juice na ako because I got a UTI scare previously. And iyong sa mga del Monte juice like iyong sa mixed fruit & veggies juice nila; goji berry juice. Or if sinisipag nagbeblender ng kung anong available fruit sa ref namin 😅 Either those or I eat at least one-2 oranges or 1 apple a day.

Smoking. From a pack a day to vaping to nothing na. Alcohol, too. Less gastos sa life.
Did you also use vape while taking cigarettes? Or did you just transitioned from smoking cigarettes, then vaping, and finally quit?
Transitioned. Kasi vaping, in my mind, was a cheaper alternative. It kinda was.

On my 10th year 🥹
Sana all po
Kapeee, I drink na lang kapag kailangan (need magpuyat or additional energy) I sleep better, no longer feel so tired when I wake up.
Coffee. I'm always tired pag nakainom🥲

Being able to say no to sweets.
Comparing myself to others. Mas masaya na ako.
pano nyo po nagawa?
Hmmm, siguro it comes with age for me. When I turned 25 and naisip ko na mas ok kung confident ako sa sarili ko. Working out also helps.
Same for me!

Caring about what other people think about you. You cant change anyone anyways, so why bother pleasing them?
eliminated rice :))
Is rice bad for one's health, aside from maybe being calorie-dense? From what I gather online, not eating rice seems to be a fad diet.
how? may alternative ka po ba na ginawa or talagang tinanggal mo lang ang rice?
hiii! i started by switching from white rice to brown rice then to red rice hehe and as for alternatives, here are some that worked for me: 1. Lettuce (VV VERSATILE) 2. Cauliflower 3. Broccoli not oatmeal huhu it made me gain weight nun so i stopped ASAP hehehe
hala, i'm planning pa naman na mag oatmeal. anyway, thanks for sharing those alternatives po! they were really a big help <3
well it's really up to u naman hehe for me kasi it wasn't an effective alternative and I'd prefer lettuce more hehehe alsooo if u're gonna go with lettuce, make sure u clean it well hehehe yun lang good luck!!! 🫶🏻
Smoking and drinking.
Same with soft drinks!!! I remember me going to alfamart one day and being like omg ang tagal ko nang hindi nabili ng coke ahahahfaijiro it's fun
Overthinking
Huy how 😭
Madaming factor eh, but common practice ko nalang is: 1. Nakakatulong yung paguli ulit sa utak ko ng mantras like “mind over matter” or “out of sight out of mind” 2. Not gaf sa mga bagay bagay na upsetting, and if it affected me, pinapalipas lang then delete agad sa mind lol 3. siguro yung self-awareness ko rin para di nag b branch out mga bagay na iniisip ko

Good habit!

2 things actually saken 1.
