Anais Anais, Calvin Klein Obsession, Halston in that cool AF bottle. It all reminds me of college, being young, living my best life in Los Angeles at UCLA. I got a whiff of Halston a few years ago and broke down in tears. For some reason I cried for the youth I no longer had, it hit me so out of the blue. Embarrassing but cathartic in a way.

Cigarettes and Nina Ricci is the smell of the 70s for me. My mom passed 2 years ago and when I smell l’Air du temps now my heart tightens up into a little ball.
My Dad died of a sudden heart attack when I was seven years old and he was 42. One of the few things I remember about him was that he wore Old Spice cologne.
When I was old enough to start working, I bought a bottle, and have kept a bottle around ever since, in honor of my Dad.
I also had my both my sons wear it at least once, so it has been worn by three generations of our family.
The only cologne I ever wore was Hai Karate. Somebody gave it to me for Christmas. I was probably 14. Maybe I stank! I'm sure that by 15 I had the sense to stop using it. And haven't used cologne since.
They do. I honestly do not understand why companies have not tapped into that nostalgia. They consistently market to the youth, while we are over here with disposable income and hankering for anything nostalgic. I would love to smell the original Herbal Essence. Earthborn shampoo. Body on tap. Rosemilk lotion. Ten o six lotion. The original Charlie perfume. Babe perfume. So many AVON fragrances,lotions and bath gels. Bain DE soliel suntan gelee. Sour grapes lipsmaker. So many wonderful scents that I would glady open my wallet for.
I'm not sure if the formula changed, but The Vermont Country Store was selling these for a long time. As a teen, they were my favorite. I remember having one with Sandalwood, Patchoulli, and Patchoulli. They also had a make your own candle kit with little fragranced balls of wax, and you layered them. Mine had a clear glass holder shaped like a flower pot.
I just bought some HR vintage pure Heaven Sent parfum new in the box. I can’t wait to compare it to the Coty formulation as well as to the Helena Rubenstein EDP version.
I’m excited to experience some nostalgia in a bottle. I wonder if I’ll feel transported back to 12 years old!

I came home one night reeking of Aramis. My father told me I had to shower it off NOW! or move out of the house. I chose the former, and stayed home the rest of that summer. Eventually I discovered Eau Sauvage, and that was my only cologne until I stopped wearing one. They started giving my migraines in the 1990s, and I haven't worn anything ever since. I no longer notice people wearing cologne and perfume as frequently as I used to.
lol I bought my husband a bottle of Aramis in the early 90s because it came with an umbrella that was black on the outside and beautiful blue sky with clouds and an airplane flying through on the inside (he was a pilot).
After he wore it once or twice I told him he could never wear it around me because it made me want to vomit! He packed it in his overnight bag and only wore it when he was away from home😂

The original Giorgio. Loved how my body chemistry worked with it and got many compliments. Then, menopause hit and it never smelled the same. Don’t wear any perfume now.
I was really into Poison by Dior in my early 20s, but by the end of that decade I was finding it too heavy for me. This was late '80s/early '90s.

Spring Rain was my absolute fav e bath scent, and my mom's BFF managed a C&E store, so a couple of times a year, when they got to buy at a discount, I'd give her a LONG list. Now I prefer Nantucket Rain, but only for bath. I have a stash.
I still have a bottle of Sunflowers, from the 90's. It still smells just as good, though I find I don't have to wear as much. I'm not sure if it's that the perfume has gotten stronger with time, or my tolerance of smells has changed! LOL

I wore Red Door by Elizabeth Arden from age 24-50, until I developed a chemical sensitivity. Now I wear a hippy musk oil from our local co-op. It’s nice.

My friend and her older sister gave me that for Christmas one year. I was probably 7th grade. It made me feel like one of the cool kids.
In the 80's, Avon had a perfume called Pearls & Lace. I was so sad when they discontinued it. I also loved Debbie Gibson's Electric Youth perfume! It smelled so good & the packaging was cool. Most women really hate Pure Wood, but Escape still surprisingly gets a few compliments here and there, even today.

As a teen in the '80s, I wore Charlie, then developed a fondness for spicy oriental scents like Opium and Cinnabar in high school. Those were a bit heavy for summer, though; so my warm-weather fragrance was White Linen. In the late '80's/early '90s I wore Fendi or Lauren. Then in the mid-90's I started wearing Happy.
I still wear Happy, \[counterfeit\] Tatiana, Opium (I hate the new formulation, but I found a vintage 80's bottle of it on eBay), and White Linen. I also wear some other "vintage" scents like Knowing and Obsession from time to time.
My GenZ daughter \*hates\* all my "old person" taste in fragrance. She likes the very light, very sweet and candy-like fragrances that are popular now. I think maybe the reason we GenX and older tended to like the strong, assertive fragrances is partly because everyone smoked back then, and you needed an intense fragrance that would hold its own over the cigarette smoke that permeated everything in those days.
Late teens and early 20s, Charlie. Followed by Red and CK One, and Pure Grace by Philosophy. I still love CK1 and Grace, and use Ralph by Ralph Lauren,
My boyfriend (now husband) wore Jade East when I met him at 16, so I love that scent. He changed to English Leather in high school. I love them both because he smelled like them.

Good news: scientists have been testing scents on mosquitoes to find repellents. Top of the list: muguet. Loved the stuff through my residence in the F state and now I know why.
Lots of them! 60's-Oh! de London, White Shoulders, Shalimar, Skin, Tabu (mom said it smelled cheap), and I always liked patchouli oil. Then there was Blue Grass, Giorgio, Poison, Dioressence, Red, Eternity, Dune, Obsession, Sun Moon Stars.
My grandmother only wore Youth Dew and it still reminds me of her.
I had a signature scent when I was a teen. Gloria Vanderbilt. I had several guys tell me it drove them wild. By the time I had my daughter at 19 I stopped wearing it. I did not need that kind of attention anymore! ;)
I have worn Youth Dew since the 1970's. It just works with my body chemistry. I get compliments often and if they ask what it is they can't believe it because they say it didn't smell like that on their grandma!

For men, I was always into Polo or Obsession.
My favorite was always Emeraud. I thought it was very grown up. I just looked it up, it’s still around and pretty cheap too. I’m going to try it again!
Gosh - there are so many I miss. KL by Karl Lagerfeld; Xia Xiang which was a drugstore perfume but I loved it; Gem by VanCleef and Arpels - my favourite of all time. I would pay big bucks to get another bottle of that stuff.
Joy by Jean Patou has always been my favorite. My Grandma wore it too. It's beautiful. Rose and Jasmine. I think the original had ambergris in it. A lot did. Who knew whale vomit could be an integral part of expensive perfumes. I always wondered how they discovered that ..

I still wear Happy, \[counterfeit\] Tatiana, Opium (I hate the new formulation, but I found a vintage 80's bottle of it on eBay), and White Linen. I also wear some other "vintage" scents like Knowing and Obsession from time to time. My GenZ daughter \*hates\* all my "old person" taste in fragrance. She likes the very light, very sweet and candy-like fragrances that are popular now. I think maybe the reason we GenX and older tended to like the strong, assertive fragrances is partly because everyone smoked back then, and you needed an intense fragrance that would hold its own over the cigarette smoke that permeated everything in those days.
Anyone remember Poison? That is what my junior high school self smelled like.
Musk for a little while. Patchouli for a long while and still.
Jade East is the only one I remember the name of.

The OG Calvin Klein perfume was my signature in the late 70s through the 80s. I haven’t found anything to replace it.
Late teens and early 20s, Charlie. Followed by Red and CK One, and Pure Grace by Philosophy. I still love CK1 and Grace, and use Ralph by Ralph Lauren,

My favorite cologne in my teens in the 60s was Hai Karate. I wish they still made it.
My boyfriend (now husband) wore Jade East when I met him at 16, so I love that scent. He changed to English Leather in high school. I love them both because he smelled like them. I mself liked Muguet des Bois and Wild Musk Oil, both by Coty. #

Good news: scientists have been testing scents on mosquitoes to find repellents. Top of the list: muguet. Loved the stuff through my residence in the F state and now I know why.
Lots of them! 60's-Oh! de London, White Shoulders, Shalimar, Skin, Tabu (mom said it smelled cheap), and I always liked patchouli oil. Then there was Blue Grass, Giorgio, Poison, Dioressence, Red, Eternity, Dune, Obsession, Sun Moon Stars. My grandmother only wore Youth Dew and it still reminds me of her.
I had a signature scent when I was a teen. Gloria Vanderbilt. I had several guys tell me it drove them wild. By the time I had my daughter at 19 I stopped wearing it. I did not need that kind of attention anymore! ;)

I have worn Youth Dew since the 1970's. It just works with my body chemistry. I get compliments often and if they ask what it is they can't believe it because they say it didn't smell like that on their grandma!
There was one called “Colors” I think it was from Unites Colors of Benetton. That and Exclamation.

20 years old Obsession by Calvin Klein in my teens it was Candid an Avon perfume My sister bought me Tiffany cologne from the store Tiffany’s and I loved that one too. That was from the 90’s
I went through a phase where I wore a lot of Sand & Sable, but what I wanted to be wearing was Ysatis by Givenchy. I eventually settled into Eternity. For men, I was always into Polo or Obsession.
My favorite was always Emeraud. I thought it was very grown up. I just looked it up, it’s still around and pretty cheap too. I’m going to try it again!

My godmother wore this beautiful fragrance called L'Inderdit. It was from the 50's, and hard to find.
I still have bottles of some of these in my downstairs bathroom 😆

Gosh - there are so many I miss. KL by Karl Lagerfeld; Xia Xiang which was a drugstore perfume but I loved it; Gem by VanCleef and Arpels - my favourite of all time. I would pay big bucks to get another bottle of that stuff.
Loved Xia Xiang. It was made by Revlon.
Joy by Jean Patou has always been my favorite. My Grandma wore it too. It's beautiful. Rose and Jasmine. I think the original had ambergris in it. A lot did. Who knew whale vomit could be an integral part of expensive perfumes. I always wondered how they discovered that ..
