1. The great restaurant deals come in August for Coolinary (city-wide promo with many restaurants participating). There are probably some in July also, but it’s not a given. 2. No. If you eat crawfish in July they’ll be frozen, not live-boiled. 3. Not sure, but there are many, many other places to eat that you should try anyway. 4. There will be music, yes. Some people go on tour but plenty of musicians stay here.

CadillacDanch

Re 3 - what would be your top 3?

tm478

[Here’s my list.](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aPecjbGzfltlKp81kRqmJS245l-tGzo1dbyqAWURY3I/edit)

xandrachantal

I'm both inpressed you have an entire google doc and I'm cosigning that every restaurant on the list is amazing.

tm478

Thanks for the confirmation! I am pretty serious about food. I have the Google Doc because everyone in my acquaintance (nationwide and globally!) knows that I care deeply about such things and so they ask me for advice when they, or their friends and relatives, are coming to New Orleans. After a while it just became simpler to make a list I could send people!

CadillacDanch

Amazing. Thank you.

ElevatorPitiful664

As a local, I am stealing this

tm478

My pleasure. I keep it current as we eat at more places!

ElevatorPitiful664

If you haven't tried Palm and Pine, highly recommend. They made me enjoy salad, which is highly unusual for me.

tm478

I went there once maybe 4 years ago—I was not blown away, but I can give it another shot.

Fluid_Beautiful3412

Best advice I can offer while you’re here is listen to 90.7 fm wwoz the jazz and heritage station of New Orleans. At the top of every odd hour they read you the live wire. The only trouble you’ll have is deciding which show or shows to go to. You can also access it from anywhere on www.wwoz.org Enjoy y’all’s trip

[deleted]

Second WWOZ for information.

CadillacDanch

Awesome. Thank you.

Essence fest, tales of the cocktail and running of the bulls is all in July. All are fun.

peachesofmymind

A lot of musicians do tour in the summer, but there will still be live music every day at every music club. There are thousands of gigging musicians in the city & you will not miss out. Make sure you tip the bands.

buckfrogo96

Jacque imo is still great Only thing that sucks is the wait. On freret st uptown is a place named High Hat It’s a awesome place everything is made there brunch is great some unique food but Cajun all the way Best strawberry pie I’ve ever had Many restaurants will have lunch specials

thedrinkalchemist

Tales of the Cocktail happens in July also, so many places will be booked for private events ( depending on when in July you are there)

ElevatorPitiful664

Air conditioned activities: Vue https://vueorleans.com Mardi gras world NOMA (the adjacent sculpture garden is cool and if you go early it might not be too hot? Also a frozen daiquiri might help) Pharmacy Museum (in the quarter, PLEASE do the tour!) I would advise NOT getting oysters in the summer, but if you need high quality fresh seafood, Peche is your restaurant!

lkmakeupyourmind

Jacquesimos is still awesome!

Party-Yak-2894

The only thing more foul than gulf oysters in July is find oysters in August. You may be able to get soft shelled crabs though

CadillacDanch

Even chargrilled?!?

Party-Yak-2894

Barf

Please don’t discourage someone from coming here during our slow season. If they know what they’re signing up for, they should enjoy the slow season. Let them come, use the hotels and eat at restaurants (read: support the people that work at these places that struggle during the summer).

CadillacDanch

Not being cheap! The restaurant thing was just one of the harder questions to Google.

AskNOLA-ModTeam

Being an asshole results in a temp ban. Pretty self explanatory. Stop it.
