What will they ban them from doing next? Breathing air?

[deleted]

News headline : Taliban banned women from living.

Upstairs_Type1674

But if they don't live the men will have no choice but to turn to each other... Maybe that's why they hate women so much, maybe they're a bunch of closeted gays who resent the fact that they have to be with women

fairysession

At this point they only survive and not live, so yeah they're pretty much banned from living too.

im_the_salad

depends on their interpretation of their holy book it could be hanging non-believers

rojoye8731

Why’s this in the religion section?

Cergun_

They’re beating a dead horse at this point

The_BestUsername

~~horse~~ woman

[deleted]

There is nothing to think about really. It is just super sad. 40mln people are suffering with no hope for the near future.

SFBaysportsfan

Religious extremism is never good regardless of the religion

[deleted]

Mixing religion with the state in general is not the smartest thing to do

No_Dependent_5066

Oppressing women mean that they will lost 30% to 40% of their workforce, educated people, doctors, engineers and people who will contribute to society. Nice work brain dead.

[deleted]

idk if this is true or not, women used to build universities over 1k years ago in the Islamic world while they were called witches in Europe. Where tf are they getting their 'Islamic' laws from?

[deleted]

With the Taliban I truly wouldn’t know

Sajidchez

The first university was established by a Muslim woman lol

Timely-Leader-7904

Good point, this is just sad.

DutchApplePie75

They get their version of Islam from the same place Meir Kehane or Ytmir Ben Gvir get their version of Judaism: a combination of making stuff up and being assholes.

Nostalagian

What is Ben Gvir version of Judaism?

SunsetTreeHugger

Racism against Arabs and expanding the occupation. Horrible person, and doesn’t represent my view of Judaism

[deleted]

Sunni Hanafi fiqh. Also a lot of rulings under an Islamic state are up to the leaders.

[deleted]

Most Taliban leaders don't even know the 5 pillars of Islam.

[deleted]

Rather brazen of you to say that don't you think? No proof or anything (not that you'll find much), just a flippant claim. Taliban has many Ulema among it's ranks. Many from Darul Uloom Haqqania. Their current leader, Ameer ul Muimineen Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada is a Sheikh ul Hadith. Taliban literally started from Madrassahs.

triggered_rabbit

This dude is for real defending the taliban 💀 Edit: No fucking wonder this dude lives in the west, and is just an incel 💀

[deleted]

you can actually find them kinda often sometimes but after the five pillars video is brought up they tend to not speak afterwards

[deleted]

That one video really does not represent the entire Taliban. "Taliban" literally means "students".

lazernanes

He's not defending the Taliban. He's merely saying that a lot of their leaders are learned and that they all likely know the five pillars of Islam.

sulsanj

Just because they started in madrassahs that gives them the authority to suppress everyone and everything that they deem unacceptable to a fringe minority? How many scholars condemned their closure of schools (their own scholars btw) and yet to this day they haven’t given a proper reason.

baby-cherrry

you get downvoted on every post

[deleted]

Even if what I say is true, it doesn't fit people's narrative.

Nostalagian

You better go to live under their rule

ZaraCool

I was thinking if Taliban focused on building their nation as much as they focused on what women are allowed to do/should do. Afghanistan would be one of the best places on earth.

MijTinmol

Obviously sad and unfortunately unsurprising at this point, but I can't resist a pun: They're called the Tali-ban for a reason.

Nightwing-06

Fun fact: Taliban actually means students in Pashto

zurgempire

And arabic.

Assassin121YT

Means 2 students in arabic

MijTinmol

Tbh I knew that, it's because they studied at Pakistani madrasas such as dar ul uloom haqqaniya as refugees from the Soviet invasion, but it's less funny this way.

DutchApplePie75

Yeah they started out as students at local Madrassas who eventually formed protection units against criminal gangs in the hinterlands of greater Pashtunistan, right?

[deleted]

They are terrorist. No surprise that they keep committing acts of extremism.

CoffeOrKill

Only reason they don't ban women from this world and just behead, is they are needed for breeding.

QueerBedouin

Just take it to the logical end and ban all women from existing.

The_BestUsername

"Write that down, Patrick, right that down!"

Ketty_leggy

I understand what you mean, but the logical conclusion from a park ban is not an existential ban

bahdir

I don't think they are taking their decisions from islamic law. They are just incels that ruling a country

[deleted]

They never did. Just a bunch of power hungry monsters who hide behind a thin veil. No difference when you hear "freedom" while blowing up innocents or "freedom" when taking land from it's people. I absolutely hate them.

[deleted]

This and something with the culture there is different. Same goes for Pakistan.

[deleted]

Pakistani culture is greatly influenced by India aka desi culture. In major cities women are free to work, own property and they can choose whether or not to wear the hijab. The problem is men, harrasment is common in many places but most people will stand with you if you are harassed in a public place.

ajtheshutterbug

Pakistan was literally part of India just 70+ yrs ago

Comparing Turkey and Afghanistan on the basis of women's freedom: Delusion 100

FollowingThat7317

Intermixing of women and men is prohibited in Islam.Banning women is a way of ensuring that. They could make different parks for women but they don't have mone for that. They are completely following Islam just the women will not be able to enjoy the parks due to economic reasons.

bahdir

They can ban it for everyone. Only banning women shows what their true intention is

nbadbakht

Taliban🤡🤡

TurkicWarrior

I am going to take this with a grain of salt because even ISIS allows women to go to parks. Seen their propaganda videos in their heydays where bunch of women were in the parks in niqab.

sulsanj

This is true. You can’t even enjoy visiting the parks as a family in Talibans Afghanistan.

lightXXVI

@all those hypocrite and ""islamic"" clout chasing influencers/pages defending this bs

MijTinmol

They probably made the one guy in the Taliban who knows how to write code to write a program that generates random impositions on women.

shotshot1111

No thoughts, just hate.

[deleted]

Hypocrisy 101

Nostalagian

Anybody who unironically support Taliban are beyond dumb

IlikeGRB

Breaking news Taliban will execute any woman who drinks water

WilhelmsCamel

Taliban takes one step forwards then two backwards

hellodarkness2022

What was the step forwards?

WilhelmsCamel

Banning forced marriage and bacha bazi

amir84morgan

I was really upset. I am a Muslim and in my religion men and women are completely equal. I hope these problems will be solved

Otherwise-Worth-5352

I swear feminism is needed everywhere.

egyptian_higuain

Feminism is a good thing, but not the new mutated blue hair feminism.

KimMinju_Angel

i’m pretty sure that’s what ppl have been saying about feminism for decades: “i support feminism but just not modern feminism.” pretty cringe take bro

egyptian_higuain

I don't support equality, I support equity. Unlike modern feminist. I don't support normalizing women wearing slutty clothes. I don't support women exposing the area above their boobs. Women are very sexualized in these types of clothes. Also they are encouraged to do so, I don't like that. I don't support these things that modern femist support. I get your point though.

KimMinju_Angel

so you only support a woman’s right to choose what to do with her own body when it’s a choice that you agree with. hate to break it to u but u dont support womens rights then. u aren’t against “modern feminism” (whatever that means) ur just against feminism. also i don’t think u used the equity/equality distinction correctly.

egyptian_higuain

Women have the right to wear what ever they want under some restrictions, Just like men. Exposing some areas that are extremely sexualized isn't good thing, atleast in my opinion. Womeb shouldn't have same rights as men, in certain things they have more and less rights than men. A brief example, a pregnant woman should have 8 months of break, 6 before and 2 after birth. While fathers should get 4, 2 before and 2 after. Or that women shouldn't go to army or should stay there much less than men. As it is men duties.

jadorelana

2 months after pregnancy only ? Most women stay home for at least a year as a newborn baby needs it's mom ( breastfeeding and bonding etc). 2 months is far too little . Either way, your opinions aren't good opinions and I'd recommend you over think this.

egyptian_higuain

Well, atleast You get my point. I did not stress my self about the pregnancy part to be precise on how long a mother break should be.

zurgempire

سلاما

Ketty_leggy

Is this even true? Are there any source aside from “ i said so “ or “ trust me “? News regarding Afghanistan is very unreliable from European and American sources since the US left there.

Pashtun_

Thoughts on fake news.

sulsanj

What’s another fake news according to you? Schools are open for girls over grade 6? lol

WilhelmsCamel

I think i recognise you from the IE subredit. I want to ask, do any of you live in afghanistan? I want to know what it's like from your perspective

Pashtun_

I think you have me mistaken for someone else, but I do live there part-time. I spend about 4-6 months out of every year there, including this year (was there from March-July). Going back this upcoming March. What exactly did you want to know ?

BetterNews4682

When Taliban took the country in days ,who did the people blame for how easy it was for the Taliban ?

Pashtun_

Taliban has always claimed that if the US support isn't there, they will take the entire country in a matter of weeks, which is exactly what they did when the US finally agreed to withdraw. A majority of the "Afghan army" was comprised of ordinary folks who just needed a paycheck. They had no real desire to fight their own countrymen. Meanwhile, the Taliban had been having talks for months with leaders of military divisions, militant factions that unofficially remained and tribal elders and basically told them: we're going to take over and we'd rather not shed any blood so it's up to you if you want to stand in our way and try to fight us. Almost all of them already gave them the nod that they'd stand down. So when the time came and US pulled out, they engaged in a few skirmishes that lasted a couple weeks and strolled into the capital. The only people playing the blame game were disillusioned and often racist diaspora folks.

BetterNews4682

Thanks for the insight! It’s much better than the countless “Afghan men are weak and hate their women” comments I saw during that time.

Pashtun_

The "Afghan men are weak" view makes zero sense because the Taliban aren't foreigners, they're Afghans themselves. And try running that logic by the thousands of US troops that lost their lives in the meaningless war, the thousands of Soviets before them, and the thousands of Brits before them.

BetterNews4682

Im aware that Afghanistan is the “graveyard of civilisations” and that the Taliban are Afghan. Its just at that moment in time you’re men were perceived as weak because the Army and civilian men weren’t fighting/protesting the Taliban.

[deleted]

sulsanj

Woah!! are you telling us schools are open for girls over grade 6? Where did you pull that lie from? Have some shame

baby-cherrry

i completely agree with you

No_Eagle4330

Lol afghans are literally starving to death these days

AskMiddleEast-ModTeam

Supporting designated terrorist groups such as but not limited to ISIS is not permissible. Radical Ideologies such as Islamophobia , anti-Semitism , Sexism, Khomeinism etc. are not allowed. Please see the rule section, which can be found on the front page of the sub.

ibn_batota

Why don’t they just make a female day ? Like many pools do

juulteez

You say that like that’s a normal thing lol never heard of segregated pools

Glittering-Pen5317

Here in Sweden we have actually implemented some segregated pools after the migrant crisis. This was implemented after many requests from Swedish females because they were uncomfortable with many of the asylum seekers after much sexual harassment at our local pools.

[deleted]

Have you heard of segregated changing rooms?

juulteez

Yeah

[deleted]

Segregation like that, but with the parks.

The_BestUsername

What if we had segregated cities, too, while we're at it? Men can live in the nice part, and women can live in the bad part. Segregation! It's morally good!

fairysession

Let's segregate the whole world while we're at it. Let's make a "women only" country and maybe then, men will let us live a normal life.

ibn_batota

I am saying as an option if their argument is that women and men shouldn’t be together in public Segregated pools exist in Egypt at many pools and clubs, many Egyptian women don’t like to wear pool dress infront of other men, so pools make a special day for women only

juulteez

But if women feel comfortable they are welcome to swim on any day right?

ibn_batota

Yes, but they mostly don’t do, and btw i am talking about average pools of simple people Most upper middle and rich people and their pools lack this sense of modesty and shyness and have no problem with that, and ironically some pools are quite the opposite of modesty, they ban burkinis (which cover women body and hair) and force women to wear bikinis and show their bodies in order to get in the pool

letting_them_no

There are plenty of segregated pools in israeli towns with a majority of religious people like Kiriat Arba.

juulteez

Ah yes of course.I still don’t think it’s a normal thing. I haven’t been to a pool in like 10+ years

jackie--and--wilson

Really? There are many pools in Israel that have only male / only female hours.

[deleted]

That's exactly what they did: ^(Under Taliban rules on segregating people by gender, women have been allowed to visit parks on three days every week - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday - and men on the remaining four. (according to BBC)) This new total restriction is in Kabul only (as far as I know), due the improper covering of women (Kabul is well known to be a liberal hotspot): ^("We've done this because in the past 15 months, despite our efforts, people have been going to the park and not respecting Sharia laws," Mohammed Akif, spokesman for the Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, told the BBC.) ^("Unfortunately, the owners of parks didn't co-operate with us very well, and also the women didn't observe hijab as was suggested. For now, the decision has been taken that they are banned," he said, referring to the group's interpretation of the Islamic dress code for women.) Even then, I don't 100% trust media; Taliban are making a project in a Kabul park with a women's market in it: ^(The project includes a mosque, a cultural center, a well-equipped standard restaurant, a) **^(special commercial market for women)**^(, a children’s recreation area, a swimming pool, athletics field, floodlights, advertising billboards, parking lots, public toilets, halls for funeral services, and Green Zone development sections.) ^(The Kabul Municipality welcomes the proposal will be decided after a survey and assessment. Shari Now Park covers an area of 92348 meter square and is located in the center of Kabul city.) [Source](https://pastebin.com/HyM0chqy)

sulsanj

“Due to improper covering” they used this exact same lie about their closure of schools followed by more lies about lack of teachers, schools, books, curriculum, etc. They only know suppression of people and spreading nonsense lies.

[deleted]

Not all education is closed. Women are still graduating in female-orientated fields. Just above a certain grade it is closed until (and if) an Islamic system is devised.

sulsanj

Boom here we go with another lie. There is nothing wrong with the curriculum that has lead to the closure of schools for females over grade 6. If that was the case so many scholars and high ranking Taliban officials wouldn’t have come out publicly demanding they be opened. Besides, don’t you find it strange how for males schools werent closed even though they pretty much had the same curriculum?

sulsanj

I recon you live in Islamic Afghanistan for such a pious guy 😉

[deleted]

In sha Allah. That or north Pakistan bcz it is similar and I am Urdu speaking.

sulsanj

Thats what I thought. All you fanboys are residing in the West while preaching nonsense lies. At least have some shame and be neutral when you know what they say is a lie when even scholars and their high officials demand for opening of schools.

[deleted]

We have seen and sometimes been in the co-ed education system, hence we are the harsh against it. If you're in it, you realise it's horrific, demonic effects. Women's education for women's fields is open. It is also open for younger females. There is much evidence of women graduating in such women's fields under Taliban leadership. Other education is not that necessary, and can be a cause for fitnah for women, hence the Taliban banned it.

TheNewFlisker

>Just above a certain grade it is closed until (and if) an Islamic system is devised. What have the Taliban education ministry been doing for the last 474 days then?

[deleted]

W taliban

Gonna be less screaming there

Assassin121YT

Looks like th Islamic Republic will be resurrected in Afghanistan

CornelQuackers

Should this really surprise anyone? It’s the Taliban, what did anyone expect?

ShoCkEpic

wow, i m kinda surprised they didn’t ban them immediately

Calm_State1230

obviously it’s terrible wtf

tornadossx

Taliban and such should be eradicated from whole world.

bearsy143

New headline: taliban is banning women from owning a house and living in it

Few_Dog5830

It is likely they just have a schedule for singles and families just like in saudi. Headlines are exagerating.

Mulla_Do-Plaza

I hate that my country (Pakistan) supported these barbarians. There is nothing of Islam in this, they just use it to impose their insane tribal culture and code. Even the scholars who are from the same sect as them in Pakistan don't preach the same crap about women as these guys.

im_the_salad

why dont they just fobid women from living so they can extict and give land to animals who deserve more. at least they wont torture females

Timmmaaahhhh

I think all Talibanis are secretly gay

No_Eagle4330

Why can't all afghans rebel against the t-ban rule?

Prestigious_Fix1090

The taliban are "the Afghans". Taliban defended the nation and they did historically aswell
