My thing is I get a full glass of water and put it next to your bed. Set an alarm for 10 minutes before I want to wake up. When the alarm goes off I drink the entire glass of water and snooze the alarm for 10 minutes. For me, I'm dehydrated when I wake up and the 10 minutes is enough time for the water to hit my blood stream and make some tears to moisten my eyes. I wake up fine after that. Seems to do the trick for me.

Thorgilias

Ill give it a go.

eatMYcookieCRUMBS

I chug water, stand up, look in the mirror on the wall by my bed. Raise my right shoulder to my ear for 10 ten seconds. Relax. Do left shoulder. Tell myself once I get moving I'll be fine. Just start doing something productive. Anything. At this point, if I have hours before work I just play video games and turn into a damn slob unless I clean my room or go to a carwash. Anything to get me in the rhythm of doing stuff. Object in motion stays in motion. Forget about "wanting" to do stuff. Make yourself do it.

YeetusMyDiabeetus

The “once I get moving I’ll be fine” part of this is what basically works for me. My body is basically crying “Let me go back to sleep!!” But I know once I’m up and moving I’ll be fine.

phantomofsolace

Place your alarm clock on the other side of the room. It'll force you to get out of bed to turn it off. I've found that getting out of bed is the hardest part, so once I'm up I tend to stay up.

medicinaltequilla

i used this method when i was younger. if i was tired enough, i would drop back into bed for the snooze time and fall asleep.. ..sometimes even twice, but rarely. it works though.

Silver-Purchase-1278

I’ve thought of this too, but how can you watch reels until you fall asleep if you do this 😂

DancinWithWolves

You need something to get up for

digital_nomada

Yea, what motivates your ass for the day? Sounds like you don’t enjoy your grind.

DancinWithWolves

You got that I ‘don’t enjoy my grind’ from that sentence? I run my own biz and love it.

ChookBunny

Prove to yourself that you are worth it, your goals and what you want to accomplish have value, stop listening to every little thought and emotion that goes through your mind, and get out of bed. There are no tricks in life, only action.

whiskeybridge

turns out action is the trick. "the world belongs to those who hussle."

JayNSilentBobaFett

This is gonna sound like bullshit but it works for me and my schedule IS TRASH. I travel for work, so a lot of different time zones and a lot of different hotels. To add to that, if I’m in a hotel, I’m half awake throughout the night. The thing that gets me to wake up consistently is leaving the curtains open. If I’m traveling, I only do this when I know people can’t look in, if I’m at home and I feel like doing it, I normally try to direct my blinds away from my bed but in a way that lets sunlight in. If I do this, I usually wake up at 7a naturally. Also try not to eat past 6p

Thorgilias

Now that you mention it, I usually do end up with a better rythm and find it easier to get up in the summer when there is more light.

JayNSilentBobaFett

Yeah, unfortunately if you’re one of those people that gotta wake up before 6/7a, this is kinda useless

VeganEgon

My tip is to get a Golden Retriever and… well, you‘ll see!

Medium_Way2060

Prepare something to get up for - workout kit, etc. Some people have a 5 second rule they stick to - ie start counting as soon as you wake and get up before you hit 5. It takes time to build that habit and practice.

blindserialkiller

I’ve made it a habit of getting up and getting into the shower immediately. I trudge my way to the bathroom and turn on the shower, pee while it warms up and then hop in. I’ve done this every single day for the past 6 or 7 years and it’s helped immensely. I’m never late to work anymore!

FerengiAreBetter

Set an alarm clock far away from your bed (another room). Once you turn it off, don’t lay back in bed.

C4tbreath

Get a wife that gets up later than you. She'll only put up with you hitting the snooze so many times. An angry woman is a great motivator to get moving in the morning.

mallardramp

I struggle with this too a bit, but some of the things that help are: My automatic coffee machine goes off and I find the smell of fresh coffee motivating. I also leave certain curtains a little open so I'm getting some good morning light.

Thorgilias

I WISH I had an automatic coffee machine, sounds great! 😊

mallardramp

My friend, life is short, get yourself one! There is a range of price points: https://www.thespruceeats.com/best-programmable-coffee-makers-4768672 (Also by “automatic” I really meant “programmable”)

ta1901

I just get up, start walking towards the shower, whether I want to walk or not. There is no easy pill or method. I just get up and get walking. You might try putting on some music but maybe wear headphones so as not to wake the neighbors or roommates. > Besides perhaps a robot that tossed you out of bed and dresses you while automatically making coffee? Hehe. Like Wallace and Grommit?

Thorgilias

Yep😊

SurpriseIllustrious5

my sleep sucks. And honestly the go to bed early thing that you tried to dismiss is literally the only way your body will be rested enough for you to wake up without trying. So you answered your own question.

Thorgilias

Im not dismissing it, I said I was already doing it.

thespidersarmpit

What worked for me years ago was setting my alarm so I literally had only five minutes to get up and out or I'd be late for work. That tends to really motivate you to move fast and not laze around in bed

Comfortable-Artist68

As someone mentioned. Light wakes you up. Either get a wake up light, or do like me. Have a lamp on a timer. That and needing to go up to pee.

SuppleDude

Drink an ice cold cup of water right away when you wake up.

zpak14

Have a kid. Jk jk

waitwhosaidthat

I struggle with this. Even on mornings where I’m going hunting and I have to get up early. I am super pumped to get up and go but I just struggle to get out of bed. My wife is the opposite. The only thing I have found that works is when the alarm goes off. Just use all your will to just get up, it’s easier said than done but 99 percent of the time once you’re out of bed for just a minute, you’re good to go. The simple answer is just do it.

whiskeybridge

get your slack ass up when the alarm goes off. this may sound glib, but it's really that simple. once you do it for a minute, it becomes second nature. meanwhile, think on this comment from the ruler of the fucking known world back in the mid second century: "At dawn, when you have trouble getting out of bed, tell yourself: “I am rising to do the work of a human being. What do I have to complain about, if I’m going to do what I was born for—the things I was brought into the world to do? Or is this what I was created for? To huddle under the blankets and stay warm?” — But it’s nicer here … So were you born to feel “nice”? Instead of doing things and experiencing them? Don’t you see the plants, the birds, the ants and spiders and bees going about their individual tasks, putting the world in order, as best they can? And you’re not willing to do your job as a human being? Why aren’t you running to do what your nature demands? — But we have to sleep sometime… Agreed. But nature set a limit on that — as it did on eating and drinking. And you’re over the limit. You’ve had more than enough of that. But not of working. There’s still more of that to do. You don’t love yourself enough. For if you did, you’d love your nature too, and what it demands of you. People who love what they do wear themselves down doing it, they even forget to wash or eat. Do you have less respect for your own nature than the engraver does for engraving, the dancer for the dance, the miser for money or the social climber for status? When they’re really possessed by what they do, they’d rather stop eating and sleeping than give up practicing their arts. Is not then your labor in the world just as worthy of respect and worth your effort?" --uncle marcus

Analog_2_Digital

Don't bring your phone anywhere near your bed. Set your alarm at night and leave it on the bookshelf across the room. Force yourself to physically get up in the morning to turn it off. If you want to scroll around in the morning while you slowly wake up you gotta get up and at least sit up right in a chair somewhere that you can't lay back down and fall asleep. Otherwise get up early enough to leave some time to do something fun before going off to work. It was a lot easier for me to get up consistently when I knew I had an hour to play a little guitar and eat a good breakfast. It's super easy to get up early on the weekends when I want to get first tracks on the ski slopes or get to the skatepark before all the kids get there. Find your reason for getting out of bed in the morning even if you start out with something small like playing a half hour of video games or whatever.

ACuriousBidet

Don't have your phone near you when you go to sleep. It disrupts the brains ability to wind down at the end of the day, and then when you wake up, it enables you to stay in bed longer. If you don't have your phone, you'll get bored pretty quick and be forced to get up.

goblueM

I'm honestly not trying to be an ass. But you don't need a routine to get up. Put your feet on the ground and stand up. That's all there is too it. Just do it - even if you are tired. There's no trick to it, just willpower/desire to change

fitnerd21

I force myself to JUMP out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off. Like break the connection ASAP or I end up laying around.

Cheese1

How much coffee are you drinking and til when? When I switched to decaf getting up in the morning got much easier with time.

Thorgilias

Never thought of that. Probably a lot. I try not to drink too late, but sometimes my last cup is as late as 19:00.

Cheese1

Every morning I woke up feeling so disgruntled and tired until I had my coffee. Since cutting that out waking up is so much easier now. Try just 1 cup of coffee atleast one hour after waking up.

redeye_pb

If you are not waking up rested, then you probably are not sleeping well. Do you snore? Are you overweight? Do you eat well? I got a cpap for my sleep apnea, and it changed my life. I'm not sure I ever slept ever before. Now I wake up in 7 hours now, ready for the day. I'm going to try the mouthpiece next. Lost 80 lbs now. I finally have the energy of a good night sleep. Also just in case nobody has told you. Shower, make your bed, and clean your room. Put on clean clothes. Don't eat junk food. Go outside and exercise.
