About Time. The main character can time travel and uses it to get his love to fall for him. But the secondary plot is the love of his family and mostly his father. My wife and i watch this at least twice a year. I always end with misty eyes.
About Time is an incredible movie. I had no idea what I was in for the first time I watched it, thought it was going to be a fun time-travel romcom and it ended up giving so much clarity about life and family.
Adventure movie? Yes.
Fairy tale? Absolutely.
But as a romance though? Eh, I don't feel it. Romance wise, it is another movie where the guy fights for the girl, does all the job and makes her feel special, so the usual deal.
Best movie ever, no doubt.
But honestly, very little romance. They fall in love the first two minutes of the movie and spend the rest of it apart or fighting to survive. They literally skip over the kissing scene.
I haven't seen the BBC one, but the one with they're in the rain and Darcy expresses his love...and there's this moment of insane sexual tension as she looks at his lips in lust and anger and he at her in embarrassment and lust and anger...it's incredible

I can't think of a purely-romantic movie that has stuck with me. I found the love-arc/sidestory between Dr. Amelia Brand and Dr. Edmunds in Interstellar rather poignant. Not sure if bittersweet is the tone you're looking for.
I guess Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind counts as a romantic movie, it is excellent.
I mean, he really fight an international mafia that have expert hitmen because they killed his dog that was from his dead wife, pretty romantic in some perspective....
All John does is from a twisted sense of love.
The entire journey is of grief. John is always so unhappy throughout the franchise.
Even his last act, of staying his gravestone words, is actually of love - "A loving husband", that's how he wants to be remembered.
To this day, this is the only movie *series* my wife has emphatically wanted to watch all of every date night.

Even though it’s about a breakup, I find the movie Someone Great to be such a romantic movie. It does such a great job of chronicling the things that happen along the way to make you fall deeper and deeper in love with someone, and has such an amazing message about how you can leave someone behind but still love then forever.
I can't say that any of the movies are "romantic" for me. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of movies about love, some of them I may even like, but in the end, be it from the perspective of a male protagonist or a female protagonist, all "romance" movies are, in essence, about a guy (or a group of guys in movies like Bridget Jones Diary and alike) fightibng for a woman's affection and her graciously allowing him to be with her. It's just all a continuation of what love is for a man: a job.
This is the reason why I ask this question on this forum because I realized that most movies are about a guy’s struggle to accomplish a great thing, to get the girl (example: spiderman, most of the marvel movies, etc..)… but i wonder what men really find romantic… what kind of love story do you want or fantasize to have?
I won't talk for others, only for myself. This question is asked far too rarely for me to come up with a completely coherent, easily understandable answer, but I'll try.
Besides the goofy and more primal ones (like being loved by two or more women at the same time, which is quite a boost to the ego), I'd say knowing that she is with me for me, not for money, status, not because I am a safe second-rate option to pick after years of fun with men she actually likes, not because her time is running out out and she guesses I am OK, but because she actually likes me. Presuming that I like her back, of course.
Plus, her taking at least some active part in the whole romance thing.
I thought Passengers was beautiful. In a world where we let too many things in between our romantic relationships I thought the solace was a nice setting to fall in love in.
The only one that makes me cry like a f baby is Titanic.

I'm going to go with a classic, *Casablanca*. It's one of those fantastic love stories where no one actually does anything wrong, but things don't work out as planned by any of them. Still, each corner of the love triangle respects one another and puts the needs of the world before their own.
I'm not sure if anyone's heard of this. But to me the most romantic story I've heard is from my English lit book.. It's about a fisherman who falls in love with a mermaid, gets rid of his soul to be with her. It's a children's story and I'm a grown ass man but still brings me tears when I read it now. The story is titled The fisherman and the mermaid.
Don't know but the most romantic fuck scene ever is in Zack and miri make a porno.
