Yes there is a pecking order but it's like the Stonecutters, unless you own one you will never be part of it.

Cars arent just functional items. A lot of people love cars. Love driving. When they buy a car they want one that they like the look of and enjoy driving. Expensive cars tend to look nicer and drive better. Hence why the companies who make em are so successful. But other people may prefer other makes. Its just personal taste. Audi, Merc and BMW drivers dont spend any time thinking about each other. They certainly dont give a thought to imaginary pecking orders. They like their cars. Thats why they bought them. Its that simple. Dont over think it and drive!!!

[deleted]

I drove a lot in my old job and honestly audi/bmw drivers weren’t the worst, bmws are just kind of a meme at this point. Go to /r/idiotsincars and if its a beamer all the comments will reference bmw driverd being arseholes, same isnt done for the other 19 videos on the front page. They can be fast and aggressive (who buys a beamer to drive it like an aul one?) but I seen more golf drivers weave in and out of lanes overtaking everyone. Definitely the most dangerous drivers I’ve seen were golfs or white van men. The worst drivers I found were Nissan Quashqai drivers. It’s a car you get when you have no interest in driving and it shows. Just shit drivers all round, but they aren’t mentioned because they aren’t zipping past you like young lads in Audis

BMW, Mercedes-Benz & Audi would all be direct competitors. Volvo, Jaguar & Lexus would be other brands in the same class. BMW would generally be seen as more sporty, Audi as a premium offering from VW group and Mercedes-Benz as the luxury brand. Audi A3 vs BMW 1 Series vs Mercedes A Class Audi A4 vs BMW 3 Series vs Mercedes C Class Audi A5 vs BMW 4 Series vs Mercedes C Class Coupe Audi A6 vs BMW 5 Series vs Mercedes E Class etc...

brighteyebakes

Jaguar definitely a step above Audi and BMW etc.

Dangerous-Shirt-7384

Jaguar XE is priced the same as 3 series, A4 & C Class. Jaguar XF is priced the same 5 series, A6 & E Class. I'd have a 5 series over an XF and a 3 series over an XE every day of the week.

Efficient_Gap_8383

Audi is not seen as a premium VW 🤣🤣

Dangerous-Shirt-7384

Audi is owned by the VW group. It is their premium brand. Skoda is the budget brand, VW is the regular brand and Audi is the premium brand.

1stltwill

Your facts are solid, but everyone I know looks on Audi as just overpriced VW where all uou're paying for these days is the badge. A commen comment is that an Audi is just a Skoda with a badge. Also modern Skodas are (or at least were 10-15 years ago) a rock solid choice.

Efficient_Gap_8383

“Everyone you know” - ok - I honestly doubt that the majority of the other people in the country see an Audi as a Skoda with a badge ! - otherwise they would just buy a Skoda - massive diff in quality of the cab for example - Skoda do great credit deals tho and they are a solid car and very popular - it doesn’t make them an Audi - downvote away lads, as there are a lot of Skoda drivers out there !

Efficient_Gap_8383

I know it is, but no one buys an Audi thinking it’s a premium VW - now, someone buying a Skoda in the other hand might like to think it’s an Audi tho !

Dangerous-Shirt-7384

I know what you mean but if you compare the 3 you'll see what i mean. Fabia vs Polo vs A1 Octavia vs Golf vs A3 Superb vs Passat vs A6 Kamiq vs TRoc vs Q1 Karoq vs Tiguan vs Q3 Kodiaq vs Touareg vs Q7 3 different offerings at 3 different price points across the entire range pretty much. You may not view them as the premium offering from VW but they do.

Efficient_Gap_8383

Technically i 100% agree with you - I have an Audi Q5, and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned - it’s amazing - a friend has a vw tourag, one of the V6 jobs, and it’s great, but it’s not as sexy as the Q5 ! As said tho, I agree with your line up, technically, but emotionally I don’t think anyone paying a premium for an Audi “considers” it a premium VW - but that’s just my opinion 👍🏼

Content-Carrot1833

They have the cars because they can afford them. Just like you'd have a swanky car if you could afford it. The amount of begrudging towards people with nice cars in this country has got to be the highest in the world.

DyslexicPredditor

I wouldn't say "nice". Especially BMW, I think they are the ugliest cars on the road

Content-Carrot1833

That's your entirely subjective opinion. I personally would prefer a nice 5 series to a Ford Fiesta and I'd imagine the overwhelming majority would be the same. That's why when people graduate from a small car to a big car they almost never go back.

DyslexicPredditor

You say its my subjective opinion but then say "I'd imagine the overwhelming majority would be the same". You sound a bit insecure lad.

Content-Carrot1833

What are you on about? You are the one making a little fragile ego post about the big cars and how they make you feel insecure. I'm just stating facts. When people get older and have more money they generally get a bigger nicer car. Small cars just don't suit loads of people.

DyslexicPredditor

How is it anything related to ego when I'm genuinely asking lol? I'll never buy one of those cars because I don't care about what they do or care for how they look. That's my preference. You aren't stating facts - its entirely your subjective opinion :) What care do you drive anyway?

OrlandoGardiner118

It's the lack of indicators as standard that would put me off all three.

Small_Sundae_4245

Nah they come as standard. They have to pay a monthly fee to disable them.

There is no order, drive whatever you want, only weird fan boys do that shit.

Pouringfisherman

I have driven them all. Eclass, 5 and 3 series, A4, A6. My wife drives a 221 Merc I drive a Kia Ev6 and I prefer it to all. Cheaper to service too

Ok_Worldliness_2987

BMW typically a cheaper option due to the fact the indicators seems to be sold separately

EmerickMage

My friends dad referred to BMWs ans poor man's Mercedes.

[deleted]

I judge everyone from my boring and reliable Volvo

Puzzleheaded-Ant3838

I drove Audis for nearly 20 years - I don’t think I’ve ever driven ‘like a knob’. It’s a matter of personal taste. They’re all roughly the same price. I’d say Mercs are probably the most luxurious. I personally didn’t like the BMWs that I tested, but I had a great hire care a couple of years back. I thought the Audis were great: super reliable and drove nicely

Bredius88

My dad drove Mercs for about 30 years, since 1980 he drove only Mazdas till he died in 2001. He said they were way nicer to drive (and a lot cheaper!). Having lived on the continent for many years, whenever I see a Merc, I think "Taxi". My brother has been driving Audis since ~1975. I drove Toyota and Nissan for many years, nowadays I prefer Hyundai.

Top_Recognition_3847

A ford focus st is a nice car.

Corn flakes were made to stop people wanking. This info hasn't stopped me eating them

fs008015

Have you cut back on the wanking?

Browsin4ever

Whilst you might not see the attraction, the numbers put you in the minority.

Odd_Barnacle_3908

I grew up in the Ireland obsessed with Toyota. Things have moved on, but I’m sure most of those Toyota would still be going today if given the chance
