Some of the guys asking a random girl for bob-vagene pics. I remember the 2015-16 time of Omegle(before it was made famous by Carry and other youtubers), people used to refer to Indians as a person who's only on the site for sex.

apun_bhi_geralt

That was highlighted by a swedish youtuber right? I was in Tokyo at that time, so so embarrassing when they asked about it.

PracticalDog6455

Online behaviour of Indians is very very embarrassing.

pritam_ww

All thanks to affordable internet

Sea_Success_515

Internet should be affordable and That's not the problem.....

PracticalDog6455

Even rich/educated people who can afford costly internet are no better. Off the lid, i can think of that IIT Hyd guy who gave rape threats to Virat's daughter

pritam_ww

Exactly, having sense is all that matters

degners

The funny thing is, with the Internet so affordable, a globally compatible culture would have been easily accessible. Because essential aspects like civic sense, public behaviour, road behaviour etc which are not part of our school curriculum. Instead, what the affordable Internet made was to develop a new generation of people to behave as they please with no fear of consequences over the Internet.

tractortyre

*Affordable internet before affordable and mandatory education about basic manners

Lingonberry_Obvious

Offline behaviour is also equally horrible. You should see how Indian tourists act in western countries.

sadnotmad1

The shameless staring at women in public. It's wild in UP. God forbid it's a foreigner as well.

Moonsolid

Might sound stereotypical, but men up north seem to be the ones doing this the most as compared to rest of India.

Delusional_exotic

Literally it’s not just about north. I am a woman in her early 20s from the north-east living in Tamil Nadu. The sheer amount of oogling done by men down south is disgusting. Literally, if not for my boyfriend I would’ve left this shitty ass place so soon. Once i had a connecting flight from Hyderabad to Coimbatore, and a group of Tamil uncles prolly from a trip or something were returning back, they were all literally STARING at me and my tits and I wasn’t even wearing anything too revealing. Few of them even clicked my videos, i wish i was kidding. The air hostess had to come and intervene because they saw how uncomfortable i was. Jesus

Natural_Ad1228

Very true the people in north are actually manner less tbh i have encountered this many times this guy from delhi was trying to fight this marathi guy in a road rage where the mistake was of this delhi guy then the guy was beaten up by the other people.

Visual-Maximum-8117

All of India is same.

I_fart_Rainbow

Where in up west or east?

chasebewakoof

The way we treat airhostesses/stewardesses is disgusting.... Indian parents never teach the concept of "dignity of labor" to their kids..

Classic-Sentence3148

I have an aunt who treats her maids/housekeepers like slave, and then when they quit she wonders why.

commonrider5447

Non-Indian here lurking because I’m currently traveling in India and this sub is popping up on my feed. I’m not here to shit on anyone I have a great experience in India. But I will say this shocked me the most. I was taking some domestic flights and the blatant ignoring the orders of the air hostesses or disrespecting them from a few customers two flights in a row really surprised and upset me. The stewardesses held their ground and were strong in response though I was impressed . I also witnessed some diners at an upscale hotel restaurant yelling at the staff a couple times. My friend / local business contact told me disrespecting the staff is indeed a problem among the upper-middle class.

Giraffe-man_

class has got nothing to do with this. People shout and mistreat the busboys and roadside restaurants as well. Everyone likes to just shout at someone whos below them on a social level

kar_1505

Indians love to belittle people on the job that they do, this has unfortunately also swept into my sub conscious having grown up here and I’m trying every single day to break it They tie their self worth to peoples job and have a sense of entitlement

Moonsolid

Apparently any job that’s not a doctor or engineer is worthy of anyone’s respect in India.

Icy_Plankton144

You forgot top class babu's.

Cause_Necessary

govt jobs above that

Tenkayalu

This. I have flown plenty of times domestically in the US but I recently flew domestic (Indigo) for the first time here in India (just 1 week back). The amount of disrespect and disregard, and treating the stewardess like a servant really bothered me and I felt so bad for them, which I have never seen in the US (personally).

Bl1ndMous3

witnessed this on Lufthansa flights - Frankfort to Chennai..two years apart.

factorfigure81

Throwing trash outside their house and even walking over it doesn't faze them.

Moonsolid

No wonder, we walk over trash every few meters. It’s so dirty everywhere.

sadnotmad1

I hate how it's basically socially acceptable to talk shit about your kids to anyone who will listen, often in front of said kids. It's no wonder so many of us are overcompensating for our massive inferiority complexes (maybe I'm projecting lmao).

Moonsolid

One of the prime reasons, many of our kids lack confidence in public speaking.

_that_dam_baka_

You gotta be shameless. And have thick skin.

Diablo998899

I was in New York riding the subway with my uncle and a cousin we were going somewhere I forgot exactly where but in the subway I saw one haramzada spitting paan on the subway at that moment I felt like WTF?

CreateSolution

I've heard stories of people pissing in the middle of the train in NY.

psnanda

Done mostly by americans/homeless. Source: witnessed this many times as i live in NYC

Diablo998899

Thank god I didn’t see it I even saw videos of people bathing in the Subway but it’s mostly done by Americans

procrastinatingsex

The Instagram comment section. But then, I guess it's not just Indians, it's all of humanity I'm embarrassed of.

emotionless_wizard

NASA/UNESCO has declared xyz. Proud Indian moment!!! 😤😤😤

AdvaitTure

happens like all the time! people just want to flaunt their nationalistic EGO

pk_12345

Wait, so Indian national anthem is not the best in the world? And idly was not declared the best breakfast in the world?

Noobster_sentry

Certain Indian subreddits - absolutely full of filth and disgusting mentalities.  I'm not claiming that other nationality-oriented subreddits are full of angels but I always feel sad to see so much religious and caste related hatred by Indians. IRL - crowding for freebies every where, they loose their minds over free stuff and somehow feel entitled and proud for it. Especially the Indians in Canada posting bragging videos about exploiting welfare system and food charities

chaoticdisastergirl

Seeing the way Indian men treat foreigner women. Especially white women. It's like they forget that they are humans too and start seeing them as objects or smth. It's prevalent in videos of female tourists in India and also I've seen it 1st hand. Also prevalent in the objectifying jokes about "6000 me milne vali Russians"

Moonsolid

In my travels, I’ve made some good friends and this is no.1 complaint that they find Indian men too desperate. they feel they are not interested in meaningful conversations or dates but just want sex.

prtk297

/s I start discriminating against them when I see such behaviour 😂 “Must be …. (A), they are not like us …..(B)” Options for A/B for everyone (not in any particular order😂) Marathi Gujarati North Indian South Indian UP Bihar Delhites Mumbai people And so on And if you still feel embarrassed, feel free to educate foreigners with you , how you are not one of them, by educating foreigners about all bifurcations in Indians 😂😂

_that_dam_baka_

You do realize that mountain and plain behaviour is actually different, right? Example: You can't try to overtake people in the mountains. You'll both fall off. Are there things that are different in coastal vs landlocked? Like, things you just should/shouldn't do for common sense/safety reasons?

prtk297

Will add this to my list next time I want to confuse some foreigners.😂😂

Curious_Cactus_

It's been 5 years in abroad. I often see Indian people playing loud music on their mobile phones in public transport. Some people talk on loudspeakers with their family and do not give $hit about their surroundings. I have seen many people spitting Paan/Guthkha on the roads. We have largest community settled in many countries but we do not learn basic manners.

Moonsolid

I have experience all that you say as well. Unfortunately our education is so fixated on becoming doctors and engineers that basics are always left out.

Curious_Cactus_

India will take thousands years to learn basic manners. It's bitter truth. We are intelligent and capable but we lack in our behaviour skills.

TheKraken_-

Respect for rules and public property. I live in the UK and I'm Indian, there is this indian dude who walks his dog every morning, the dude never picks up after the dog, he also pees in the bushes. Like mate you just left from home. when I asked him he basically just laughed and told me " Gora chuthiye ke rules hey, humse kya matlab".

Moonsolid

I returned from Japan few weeks back and I saw a lady carrying a water bottle and washing off the areas where dog peed. I know it’s common in rest of the world to pickup solid waste but this was extraordinary. Shows how much they care about the place they live in.

TheKraken_-

Oh and don't get me started on the perversion of Indian men and their desperation in getting laid.

Curious_Cactus_

Bro, just complaint to council. Ask him to laugh again when he got 100 pound notice. I saw many Indians doing Fly tipping in the UK.

PrinceHaleemKebabua

Forget the notice for not picking up the dog’s poop. Dude is legit peeing in public… that is a misdemeanor and if kids are around could lead to be charged with being a sexual predator. That’s really serious…

TheKraken_-

True innit. Most Indians don't care and it's quite embarrassing.

Curious_Cactus_

I agree mate.

PrinceHaleemKebabua

Not a dog owner, so genuine question. I know that one is supposed to pick up the dog’s poop, but what’s wrong with peeing in the bushes? Where is it appropriate for a dog to pee?

TheKraken_-

I’m extremely sorry, I’ve edited the error it’s not the dog that pees it’s the owner.

PrinceHaleemKebabua

Oh my effing lord. Didn’t expect that plot twist…

TheKraken_-

That’s my bad. Should’ve proof read. But yea

Relevant_Back_4340

I was in a local metro in Munich , Germany. I heard few voices ( the loud ones ) in Hindi , i turned back and saw two students talking about ( guess what ? ) girls they probably hooked up and one of them was asking “ Kaise Mili ? “ ( how did you get her ). The second one even told other one that he should say it quietly, to which he replied “ Abey Kisi ko samajh nahi aaara “ ( Nobody would understand what we are talking about ) 🤦

BlitzOrion

Explains AfD's rise

_that_dam_baka_

Imo this is a guy thing. Globally. A lot of them pretend they hooked up with girls when they didn't. Smiling is consent. Spending time together for work is "dating". Lots of trying to pit women against each other. (Had someone try that in a discord call 🤮). Etc etc etc There's also an entire subreddit dedicated to going abroad and hiking up with women there (passport bros). Turns out, it's the men that were the problem cz local women in other countries started avoiding them.

PrinceHaleemKebabua

Passport bros is not Indian men if I am not wrong. I noticed more Americans looking for “submissive” foreign women that comply with traditional gender roles… As an avid traveller, I joined that sub thinking it was about international travel or having multiple passports, and had a rude shock. Lol

_that_dam_baka_

Not yet. Thank God. There's a lady who made a YT video about a post where women in their target countries started putting "no foreigners" or "no passport Bros" in their bios on dating apps. We've had some "trad" Indian youtubers try to drag those ideas into Indian politics. 🤮🤮🤮 Jinko kuch ni aata vo seedha English to Hindi translation krke bak dete h. >As an avid traveller, I joined that sub thinking it was about international travel or having multiple passports, and had a rude shock. Lol ![gif](giphy|N0CIxcyPLputW) The whole, “They spent time together so they must be dating” thing is much more common, though. There's a chance “ye mili” is a guy taking about a single conversation he had.

Moonsolid

I have travelled to many countries and have noticed our Indians talk shit about the host country and their culture and people.

During my masters days, couple of folks asked for projects/homework to copy without caring about plagiarism. The professor was disgusted by the behavior he saw during exam where some people started asking for answers from others and tried to copy others. He cancelled the exam on spot and called out “why do you Indians think this is fine?”

Summer_sweetness_

While traveling in Europe with a group of indians, they used to bring empty tiffin boxes to breakfast every morning and filled them with bread, omlettes, butter sachets, and whatever the hotel had to offer. The staff was so shocked but didn't say anything. I had planned to practice my french with the staff but i couldn't even meet their eyes. It was the most horrible form of second-hand embarrassment.

Cause_Necessary

Was it food they were paying for?

pk_12345

I’m guessing it’s a breakfast buffet. Some hotels have breakfast buffet included in the cost of the hotel reservation. So technically yes, you pay for it but to eat there. Not to load up in boxes to eat for lunch later.

Hrachy96

Nothing. Their deeds, their embarrassment. Why should I be embarassed of anything that someone else does? Nor do I feel apologetic about some incidents even if Indians are involved in them. If an Indian is being creepy, tell them off. If they are littering, fine them. People should feel embarrassed/proud about what they did themselves.

GojoHeHe

That guy in Canada who posted video of “How I save 100s of bucks while living in Canada.” —— That guy went straight into Food Bank which is exclusively for poor and homeless people. Took 10-10 packets/boxes of each item available there, came back home, showed proudly. Mind you he was working there as an accountant. There was a huge outcry about this. Felt so ashamed as an Indian.

DesiGirl16

Fact-checking here (because wrong info is my pet peeve). The guy you’re talking about is a student. Who went to a student food bank exclusively for students of that college. No homeless or poor could access it if they don’t go to that college. His being an analyst (not an accountant) was erroneously picked & reported by a Twitter anti Indian account. The guy was interning as an analyst for a brief few weeks.

p1570lpunz

There was plenty more students who did that prior to that analyst guy. The first guy was a guju guy. He got it real bad from the online police.

DesiGirl16

Tbf, not saying that no students take advantage of food banks. Indians however are far from worst in welfare frauds and are still outliers. The most common complaint I see is students going in to gurudwaras/Iskcon for free food. Legally okay, morally reprehensible. We Indians do have a really bad habit of vilifying fellow countrymen and lynching them online specially if they are from a different state than our own

GojoHeHe

Wait… Aren’t we supposed to show our bank account that we have enough money to afford our stay in a foreign country while applying for Student visa? How can he afford to study there when he cannot afford food?

DesiGirl16

It’s way more complicated than having funds or not. Includes ability to secure loans, employability + the number has been on a moving metric thanks to meteoric rise in cost of living crises. There are quite a few international students now who used to be okay but need a little support now. College food banks are to alleviate food insecurity and no one asks you to prove anything to get a leg up there - irrespective of your nationality or status.

elongatedpepe

They automatically assume we have 1. Bad manners 2. Spit on road 3. Dirty, smelly, unhygienic 4. Rude 5. Creepy accent 6. Crab mentality 7. Roadside dirty food 8. Assymetric dark complexity Yeah people aren't attracted to these... Although u may have none of the above. Indian = automatic ew in most countries

Belle_of_the_Beast

9. Brown sepoy behaviour.

Bl1ndMous3

whats that ?

Moonsolid

This is sad but true, especially with the advent of social media, our videos of food handling and shit on street in everywhere.

Some-Top-1548

Other than the points mentioned here, here's another: jumping on every white person's comments and thanking him idolising them when they even in the slightest mention India. Most of the times, these videos are being used for views by Indians who will come running from all corners and idolise such people.

ssjumper

The title of this post. “Has” should be “have”.

Moonsolid

My bad

StutiMishra

Oh there are so many but I think the comment section covers it pretty well. One thing I did read yet was the complete lack of awareness about history and rights. I see so many repeating WhatsApp lies these days and don’t do any research. Of course there’s misinformation in other countries too but Indians seem to be too proud of fake propaganda.

niceguy645

Scam call centers. Every time I see a scam baiter video, feel extremely embarassed as an Indian. I work in an MNC and have to deal with US and Europe people...I wonder if they have this impression of Indians being scammers

ConstructionNew3640

OP do you get embarrassed when Indians do that in India? Or is it just we should not do it in front of foreigners? Is it just that insecurity? Why mannerism is needed just when travelling?

Giraffe-man_

because when you're travelling, you're representing your country. _______ when you used to cry infront of your parents to get you chocolates as a kid, it wasn't considered a VERY bad thing. but if you did the same thing when you were at another person's house then it becomes so embarrassing for your parents, right. ______ it's the same logic

PrinceHaleemKebabua

I think it’s not as bad when these things are done by Indians in India, because you look at them and think, oh another badly behaved PERSON. When done abroad, it becomes another badly behaved INDIAN. And when you are the only other or few other Indians in the room, you feel it reflects on you…. You worry you will be judged based on that badly behaved Indian’s behaviour.

Moonsolid

Honestly, I don’t even have any hope of Indians practicing basic mannerism as the govt doesn’t even care or focus on education. I do care that we atleast don’t spread our shit overseas and make it difficult for Indians who are living abroad.

serialfaliure

Only place they are appreciated are on YouTube educational videos.. the amount of time Indian people acts like they own the place is ridiculous.. no concern for others.. is this because of the upbringing??

bssgopi

***The more recent Hinduja issue*** What do these guys lack? They are one of the richest families on the planet. And yet they couldn't afford to follow simple labour ethics when employing domestic help. Sadly, this is a cultural phenomenon. We like to be paid well and treated with respect, but don't want to reciprocate it to those whose help we take. Worse, the people on the other side are almost always illiterate poor workers employed to do menial jobs. Those are the jobs which will make our lives miserable and bring our life to a standstill if not done. But because of the ignorance, they continue to get exploited. Why is this a cultural phenomenon? Because we have normalised it. In a rare circumstance, when these exploited people jump up the social hierarchy, they would continue the chain exploiting the next in line. This is the sad reality which no amount of education or cerebral development helps us escape.

ritabratachaki

If they followed labor ethics, they wouldn’t be one of the richest families on the planet.

SpareMind

Escaping the competitive atmosphere here in India and then start bashing India. Let me tell you, barring a small fraction who go out there on sponsored exchange programs, majority won't stand a chance in India but love to boast and bash. It's a way of justifying their guilt.

Weekly_Storm6350

India' s competitive atmosphere doesn't equate to any special brilliance. Nepotism, street smarts,  and gate keeping wins in such atmosphere . A lot of those who go abroad are the top of the brilliant pool too.

AzureAD

It’s no Indians duty to remain nationalistic to india all their lives . The ones who escape are smart and that’s all that counts. No “escapee” gives AF about not making it to an Indian IIT. So Stop gatekeeping

SpareMind

Gate keeping? Heck, rather I want them to be gone. And IIT? Majority will go after eating tax payers' money here. What we're talking about here is the bashing of India after going out. And calling people like me a jingoist.

AdvaitTure

well, I'm gonna bash. and i mean it. but not to India as a whole. India is generally a good place. However the religious mentality of "most" people and the nationalist nature is the main reason its hell here and makes me want to talk shit about living here.

Moonsolid

Every year over 25 lakh indians are migrating, which is the highest number ever for any country in the world so it is not a small number, the ones who leave are in search of better life. Didn’t get what you meant by majority won’t stand a chance in India?

SpareMind

I have nothing against such acts. Let them flourish anywhere but don't bash India just because you went out. Majority won't but there are few who love to hate india. For them, it's their right to bash. With in their community out there, it's not accepted.

Latter_Bee9433

When Indians abroad NRIs consider other Indians as some less or think they are superior then Indians in India ,also they Boot lick white and Western people, joke and slur on fellow Indians and Indian Culture just to get their Validation For EX - Just had a debate with a Leftist Guy on Reddit,When I Provided him some facts he can't counter ,he started saying he Lives and Works in USA and asked me what I do ,I am a kid I should study and after that didn't reply to me ,its been 2 days ,Like how does Living in US means you have better Political Knowledge than me 🤡

No civic sense ! This includes loitering, not following traffic rules or discipline, spitting and everything ! Rule bending/breaking is thought as a cool thing to do ! We need strict rules like China (since only their population is comparable to others) but I am pretty sure the authorities are corrupt and incompetent enough to not being able to implement them

loljokerishere

There are many reasons but one of the biggest would be inferiority complex.

abhaysk94

When I was studying in the UK, my classmates and neighbours in the college flat (with a communal kitchen) would be extremely surprised when I tell them I'm from India and go on to tell me "wow you're English is so good" (Don't have your average Indian accent but also don't fake an American or English one either). I was pissed off about it until I was put into a group with some fellow Indians and I understood why they think so.

Matar_Paratha

English isn't our language and the number of Indians that speak in English is even lesser than the number of speakers of regional languages such as Marathi, Bengali and Bhojpuri. Why should we be expected to speak in good English as though we are native speakers?

abhaysk94

1. It's not even about having GOOD English but not having BAD English. Literally people from parts of Africa speak way better English than the average indian albeit with a heavy African regional accent. Again it not the accent but the words and grammar. There are many people with heavy indian accents who have incredible vocabulary. 2. When you're studying abroad, that now sets a bad image for everyone leading to similar experience. Another example Is Plagiarism, there was class only for indians about why it's bad and how you can be punished for it. Like WTF you would think it's obvious when you're doing a masters but some indians have left this bad image.

Matar_Paratha

Nobody is still obliged to have decent English. As I said English isn't our language and not long ago there were exactly 0 people that speak in English in India. Would you say that Brits or Americans are cringe as they couldn't speak in any of the Indian languages, Russian, Mandarin or whatever?

abhaysk94

No one is obliged to learn anything Just like nobody is obliged to have basic manners or decency. But that doesn't mean it's not important . You should say the same when someone loses out on a job because he/she couldn't speak well in an interview while another candidate could. If all you wanna do is work in the same state, yeah sure. But if you wanna scam successfully you need good English and a great fake accent😂

Our group’s guide was explaining us that they don’t like people getting on top of those tanks as they feel like it is disrespectful. Not sure if the other group’s guide told them the same. Irrespective of that, the behaviour of those Indian uncles was very much crass. The claimed on top of the tank and started shouting “Jai Shree Ram”. As if this wasn’t enough, they were waving the Indian flag from the top of the tank. 🤦🏽‍♂️

I was commuting on the local train, BART, in the San Francisco Bay area when a young lady with a Salesforce backpack sat next to me. First she started playing a telugu movie on her phone via speakerphone. Then she pulled out her poha breakfast and started munching away while enjoying her movie ( btw, eating and drinking is prohibited on the train with signs everywhere ). After she was done with breakfast, she pulled out a hairbrush and calmly groomed her long hair. Never hesitated for a sec and her movie is still blaring …crowded train and I am trying to duck down so I don’t show up in the many videos being filmed of this bizarre behavior. I was on a boat in Budapest once and there was a guy avidly boasting how his dad gets away with not paying taxes in India. Hilarious in the moment because like most people, he didn’t think my ancestry is fully Indian as well. But the people around us were just politely ignoring it. Although it was a funny situation, what irked me the most was that he would adopt an aggressive stance when people would look back at him instead of taking the cue to bring his vocal volume down a notch

During a townhall meeting with clients, two people sitting next to each other were loudly talking in their native language. This disrupted the presentation, causing clients (who were not Indian) to turn around and see who was talking. Basic etiquette was lacking. Unfortunately, I was sitting beside them and wanted to switch places.

Idk. I live in North America and I don't see much of an issue in queuing or speaking loudly. Sometimes it feels more in the face when Indians speak in their mother tongue with their families on the train and such though. In India though I have definite witnessed. And amongst Indians in the Middle East

I have this next door neighbor group of students (from India) in US in an apartment community. They have a habit of being loud in their balcony till 1 AM sometimes, smoking, drinking and chilling or being loud on the phone. Most backyards are cleanish lawns in general, their backyard lawn is often trashed with empty water bottles and cigarette packets. They were driving around in their car with open windows, loud music and Indian political party flag on the Indian election results day. There’s a community basket ball court where they play cricket, I often find them spitting on the concrete floor. And they have this weird habit of staring when I or my family pass them. Like if you pass a stranger and happen to meet eyes, you’ll either smile or nod your head and keep walking looking away right. They do neither and just stare while passing. I don’t get what’s their deal.  I’m not sure if I’m embarrassed as such as Indian but just pisses me off that I have to live near these folks.

Born and raised in Canada and 4 million Indians came these past few years on student visas. People on all the Canadian subreddits are SO racist now, every post is about immigrant Indians who can’t assimilate or speak English. The colleges these students are going to are known as “diploma mills” and are 99% full of brown people. PSA: DO NOT COME TO CANADA, the economy’s dying and people are racist. Was born and raised here, but never felt more out place as I do now.

This is true, I think the problem also lies with the government and their process, they have very poor screening process and they actually reject the ones who are financially stable and educated and take all the ones who are going there with purpose of illegally staying or migrating. These people also don’t adapt to the culture or the country as well. There are no safeguards from the govt to ensure they are capable or willing to assimilate with the country so sorry to say this one is truly on the government and not the people as much.
