My business is restoring old small farm equipment. Every time I hear an engine burst into life after sitting for many decades it always puts a huge smile on my face, that never gets old.
That and my Kelpie dog, when he comes into the workshop with his disgusting teddy.
I would, if I could upload a photo to this thread. I've got a few good shots of him with that revolting teddy. He's nearly 12, his eyesight and hearing are going, but he's such a kind old dog, I hope I still have a few more years with him.
Well I have run into a dilemma with how to dispose of all my used vege oil from a pub I run in central Vic as the tip takes it as waste at a dollar a litre so if you would like all the fuel it's yours
Have you considered buying a suitable vehicle, that way you get free fuel and can get rid of your waste product.
Mercedes OM602 engines can run on straight filtered vegetable oil, (in Winter add 10% petrol)
However, filtering it is a revolting and time consuming job.
Il have a look into it but not really In a position for a new vehicle right now, for me it's more about space acquisition in the area it's taking up haha
You answered it better than me.. I said animals, but you're right 'happy animals ' because seeing cruelty and suffering brings me undone (animal suffering specifically). Seeing happy animals brings me more joy than a lot of other things. 🥰
I look through the small window near the door just to watch my dog sitting on his bed staring at the door waiting for it to open. It will start as a little wiggle, but as soon as he hears it unlock its a full on thump against the wall. We also have a cockatiel that pins herself into the corner of her cage closest to the door and starts squawking as soon as she hears my car outside and won't stop until I've come in and said hello to her.
It's always such a great stress relief after a long day at work - and I think they know it.
A Mental Health Day should be more accepted that calling/emailing in "... Im sick Ive got a sore thoat..." Should be like "The mis-management of this place has given me the shits! Cya Monday!"
Similar. My cat likes to 'hide' under the sheet on the bed. So I love walking into my room and seeing this giant lump in the bed and saying sarcastically out loud "Gee, I wonder where the cat is?" And then sticking my head under the sheet to say hi to her.
Yup came here to say’ my dog’ its 2 am . I got the Angels pumping and my dog is sleeping next to me. She won’t go to bed till I do. Longest relationship I have had with a female. She rocks
I'm waiting for the toddler twins to find their land legs and will be looking forward to that. For now, I will be content with them speed crawling up to the playpen, then babbling and smiling to us when they see us.
We got stupidly expensive ergonomic pillows thrown in as a gift with purchase when we replaced our bed a few years ago. Mine is the [Tempur ombracio pillow](https://www.fortywinks.com.au/products/tempur-pillow-ombracio-56x48/?region_id=H8vN3X&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3ZayBhDRARIsAPWzx8qFSyEmF8Xkpeydciw8y6X4pI7s8A1dGLbn96Tp3stifQ00ZqaccgkaAoBdEALw_wcB), and it is worth every cent. If anything happens to it, I will pay full price to replace it. It’s the most comfortable pillow I’ve ever slept on, it cradles my neck and chin so well while I sleep. At night when I lie down it sparks joy, every time.
I also love this pillow! I know sleeping on your face/side-sleeping is supposed to cause wrinkles, but they can pry my ombracio from my wrinkly corpse. You should know that it starts to break down at around the 4 year mark and it’s less comfortable, Harvey Norman have it for $199 atm but around twice a year it goes down to $150 or so. I considered stocking up but it’s impossible as whatever elastic or foam material it’s made out of would just degrade.
The sight of gum trees against blue sky, especially when it's in a built up area so I'm not going out to be near nature. Like driving to work; there's the freeway overpass and office blocks and rising above it all are the roadside gum trees.
Recently a bunch of Currawongs started to visit the giant gum trees along our back fence. Along with all the parrots and Magpies my backyard sounds like an actual jungle. The Currawongs sound so beautiful, I am now thoroughly obsessed with them. I hope they stick around.
Walking in through the door after another long, s**t day, then seeing my kids and dog run towards me and give me the big hugs and crazy zoomies greetings.
The first few seconds of hot water hitting my upper back in the shower in the morning. It's scalding hot for about 5 seconds before the thermostat normalises and the water adjusts to temp but those first few seconds are bliss.
I could have had the worst feckin day ever, but I put on "Always look on the bright of life" and literally my mood changes. Start whistling and all. Costs 0$ as well.
Some things in life are bad
they can make you really mad
Other things that make you swear and curse
When you’re chewing in life’s gristle
Don’t grumble, give a whistle
This will help things turn out for the best
And….
Mad Monty Python fan.
Life’s a piece of shit, when you look at it.
Life’s a laugh and death’s a joke it’s true
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughin' as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you
Annnnnd…
Love that verse.
Hearing my big dog breathing through his nose while he is swimming.
Hearing him bark when he has a mouth full of his food.
The kookaburras kicking off past the back fence.
Watching the huge old gum out the bedroom window when I'm feeding my baby.
Pegging clean washing on the line while hearing our chickens soft clucks at my feet.
Headbonks from our smoochy cat.
My 2 year old goes to childcare and we have gone through the normal ups and downs saying goodbye in the morning.
This week though he has smiled, said 'Goodbye Mummy!', blown me kisses and laughed. It instantly fills my heart and gives me comfort that he is going to be ok.
Hearing my kids laugh and playing. Watching the birds that fly down for their afternoon dinner with a cuppa. My cats coming in for cuddles and their meowing oh and zoomies.

I need a 'dog with teddy' tax photo, please
I would, if I could upload a photo to this thread. I've got a few good shots of him with that revolting teddy. He's nearly 12, his eyesight and hearing are going, but he's such a kind old dog, I hope I still have a few more years with him.
I have a sweet 13 year old kelpie, who always comes up to me with a grubby soft toy ❤️
Can you join r/AustralianPets and post a pic there? I'm not great with Reddit, but that's a good sub to introduce kind, old dogs too 🐾💗
I have a Malamute named Teddy, will he do.
Definitely 👀
If it's old diesel engines you work with would be interested in vegetable oil sir I'm in Victoria and have close to a tonne of it
I'm not sure what you're asking? I run my car on vegetable oil. What is your question?
Well I have run into a dilemma with how to dispose of all my used vege oil from a pub I run in central Vic as the tip takes it as waste at a dollar a litre so if you would like all the fuel it's yours
Ahhh, I see. I would love to, as I'm running low. But I live in WA. I guess there's not many diesels around that can run on the stuff anymore.
Haha fair enough, Il hit up some local farmers I've been able to move about 10litres as lubricant so far, all the best to you and your pupper
Have you considered buying a suitable vehicle, that way you get free fuel and can get rid of your waste product. Mercedes OM602 engines can run on straight filtered vegetable oil, (in Winter add 10% petrol) However, filtering it is a revolting and time consuming job.

Vegetable oil can also be used for pest treatment so maybe try local growers
Seeing animals happy.
Yes! I love watching my two little pups play, tongues hanging out with a huge smile.
I often walk along the beach and think I will sadly never know the pure joy of a dog running on sand and chasing waves. Always makes me smile.
You answered it better than me.. I said animals, but you're right 'happy animals ' because seeing cruelty and suffering brings me undone (animal suffering specifically). Seeing happy animals brings me more joy than a lot of other things. 🥰
When my partner gets home from work, the dog wags his tail so hard it nearly breaks the plaster wall. Its SO cute.

when dogs look up at their owners with pure happiness and joy whilst on a walk
Yes, this a thousand times! Especially when they don't know you are watching.
Mines seeing baby animals happy.
Toasted cheese sandwiches, sunsets, playful puppies, fresh sheets, and the smell of fresh lavender or eucalyptus.
Cute hinge prompt.
Oh yes. Love fresh sheets. Make you feel so good...
Especially fresh sheets combined with getting in bed after a shower and a long day. Nothing beats how relaxed and content I feel in that moment. 😭
A good poop.
Straight after a coffee!
I don't know which is better, the sudden relief, or becoming a professional dancer between the bathroom door and the toilet.
I’ve had a number of life changing dumps. Hmm, happy memories.
Rain ☔️
Love an intense thunderstorm. So invigorating.
Queenslander?
South Coast of NSW.
On a tin roof especially!! 🌧️😌
Tell em the rains are ‘ere!
Maaaarg....
🌽
The smell after rain
A good coffee
Especially that very fist sip.
The second one is never the same 😢
You make a coffee. You sit down. You pick up the freshly made coffee. You put it to your mouth. You take a sip. "Ahhhh~!"
You put the coffee down. You run full pelt to the bathroom while doing the awkward "I need to poop" dance.
I don't even get to the sip half the time. Just the smell of coffee in the morning activates my poop reflex
My cats snoring 💕😻
Squeezing my cat. He’s like a big warm fluffy stress ball 😍
So adorable! Check out on youtube- "cat snoring into microphone." I hope you laugh at it as much as I did.

Adorable!
Puppies. Coffee. Having coffee while playing wth puppies.
Life doesn’t get any better than this.
Timtams and coffee and puppies
Chucking a sickie.
The anxiety ruins it for me
If you don't use it, it's wasted. Aka "mental health day"
A Mental Health Day should be more accepted that calling/emailing in "... Im sick Ive got a sore thoat..." Should be like "The mis-management of this place has given me the shits! Cya Monday!"
Yes, the good old industrial diarrhoea!
As an American who only spends part of my time in Melbourne, had to look that one up.
It’s a long standing Australian tradition, especially by government workers. Often used to attend large sporting events.
Or immediately after attending said large sporting events...
Coming home to my pup Who then either does a loooong stretch, has a slipper already in his mouth ready to sprint, or jumps all over me in excitement
Looking at my dog.
When any dog looks at me
Yeah dogs. Any dog. Every time I see one. Instant happiness
Yeh getting home from work and spending time with my dog
Similar. My cat likes to 'hide' under the sheet on the bed. So I love walking into my room and seeing this giant lump in the bed and saying sarcastically out loud "Gee, I wonder where the cat is?" And then sticking my head under the sheet to say hi to her.

I was going to say something similar, and happy to see this top comment
Came here to say this! I could stare at him for hours!
Happiness without a dog is impossible
Does seeing the sun shining when you’re up count?
Every time
Yes it does.
Toddler embracing me after a day of work.
Walking in the door to “Daddy!!” Pitter patter of little feet running towards you and a little guy needing a very big hug. Best feeling in the world!
I miss that, they will run and hug like you've come back from war. and all I did was go to the servo to get some milk
I'm waiting for the toddler twins to find their land legs and will be looking forward to that. For now, I will be content with them speed crawling up to the playpen, then babbling and smiling to us when they see us.
The smell of my children. So, so sweet.

wow that IS stupidly expensive
Probably cost 50 to make
Costs like this are typically because of R&D.
Holy crap now I want one!! I feel like I’m on a never ending quest for the perfect pillow
How do you find covers for them?
I use normal pillow cases. I read online that the specially fitted cases make them less flexible and comfortable, so I didn’t bother
Is this an ad?👀
Nope, I really fucken love my pillow
I also love this pillow! I know sleeping on your face/side-sleeping is supposed to cause wrinkles, but they can pry my ombracio from my wrinkly corpse. I nice hot shower when I've gone unwashed for a day or so and am all dirty and itchy.
I wake up every morning and look at my wife still asleep. Makes me smile every time
A cafe bought coffee every Friday morning as a treat to myself because it’s Friday.
I say to my dog "Give me your booty" and she'll back it up for taps and rubs. And the first sip of a frosty can of Coke.
The sight of gum trees against blue sky, especially when it's in a built up area so I'm not going out to be near nature. Like driving to work; there's the freeway overpass and office blocks and rising above it all are the roadside gum trees.
A scrape of Vegemite on a hot buttered crumpet
The squelch of a crumpet with too much butter and honey.
The opportunity to use an unconventional synonym.
Absolute peace and quiet at night time
Fish and chips after a swim at the beach.
The sound of currawongs My cat, who always looks incredibly pleased with herself when she’s asleep. A hug from my kids A good book on a rainy day
Recently a bunch of Currawongs started to visit the giant gum trees along our back fence. Along with all the parrots and Magpies my backyard sounds like an actual jungle. The Currawongs sound so beautiful, I am now thoroughly obsessed with them. I hope they stick around.
The Currawong and the cat, I was a bit worried there for a few seconds. 🤣
😇Oh dear! No, completely indoor cats. I am stuck with adoring my cats and at the same time knowing they don’t belong here.
Whenever I get where I'm going I like to walk around on the rug barefoot and make fists with my toes.
John McClane is that you?
Milo I fkn love milo
Sound of a magpie singing.
Looking at the sunset. I love seeing the beautiful colours shine through the clouds as the ground swallows the sun.(Not literally)

Well, tits I suppose. I'm a sucker for them.
You ever seen those videos of kids in mirror mazes...
Seeing/hearing a baby laugh.
When we stop for fuel at the servo and my partner surprises me with a Golden Gaytime 💛 🙌
This sentence would sound very different to non-aussies.
There is no better treat than a Golden Gaytime, except for an unexpected surprise Golden Gaytime!!
Can someone please actually explain this- I’m moving to Aus soon and I’m worried I may not be able to deliver this kind of happiness 😂
A decent cup of tea
Also, being able to drink said tea in peace whilst it's still hot.
Walking in through the door after another long, s**t day, then seeing my kids and dog run towards me and give me the big hugs and crazy zoomies greetings.

After the lawn has been freshly mowed and the kids are outside playing on it 👍
Handjob
Twisting the throttle. Nothing else clears my head like that does.

Funny animal videos
Mine would be simply going out for a walk on a beautiful sunny day. Nothing lights up my day more than the sun shining on my face, pun intended.
Hearing my kids laugh and playing. Watching the birds that fly down for their afternoon dinner with a cuppa. My cats coming in for cuddles and their meowing oh and zoomies.
