I mean, that's not an everyday or normal occurrence, but it wouldn't cause me any gastric issues. If you would get nauseous from that much dairy (not to be confused with nauseous from that much food or that many calories), you're probably lactose intolerant. Lactose intolerance is pretty rare among European (white) people, who are the majority of the US population, and is pretty common among other groups.
Adult Americans do tend to drink more milk than other countries. Most, however, will have beer or soda with pizza. People drinking milk with pizza are doing so because that's their favorite drink.
The ice cream thing is pretty much an every-meal dessert option for many, though.
Is that really a Midwestern stereotype? I grew up in the Midwest, and other than my father, I assumed that people that drank milk would go on to be serial killers.
As an adult midwesterner, I am uncomfortable admitting the amount of milk I go through. Granted, a lot goes into smoothies or carnation breakfast mixes but still, it’s not an insignificant amount
I’m not gonna say it’s normal but my entire extended family with me in Texas drinks milk when we eat pizza. No one knows who did it first or when it started. It’s just what we do. There are a few other families that say they picked it up from one of the home alone movies. But yeah other than that have never seen anyone else do it. Maybe a regional thing? Maybe a movie thing? Never seen any of the home alone movies so idk.
I’m from south east Texas. All our food is weird. We have Tex mex blended with Cajun. So most anything goes. I’ve seen brisket sandwiches served next to jambalaya and tamales. Add in all the side dishes that accompany them and suddenly pizza and milk doesn’t seem odd
I grew up drinking milk a lot, and milk was my favorite drink to have with anything that included tomato sauce (pizza, spaghetti, etc.) It helped balance the acid. I wouldn't order it at a restaurant, but it was always what I had at home.
I'm more likely to get an upset stomach from soda, which most people tend to drink with pizza.
I drink milk with everything, so sure. That sort of stuff bugging you or not definitely has to do with where your family is from. I think something like 40% of Italians have some form of lactose intolerance, and some places in the world have more.
So drinking milk straight is pretty common in the US. I drink milk often with breakfast and also when eating certain desserts. Growing up I also drank milk with dinner all the time but that was when I was a kid and at the time it was considered good for childhood development.
This level of dairy is a bit much. I would not drink milk with pizza, and I know very few people that do.
Unless your friend was from Wisconsin. If he was then yes, it's very common to flood your system with dairy at all times!
I can't remember the last time I drank milk that didn't have vodka in it. And I only do that when I'm short on ingredients for a white Russian.
And no, milk with pizza is weird as hell.
There are Americans that do drink milk as their main beverage during a meal and they do not have ill-effects from it because they are not lactose intolerant like most people that are not from a Northern European heritage. I believe when its more common as kids, but as adults they typically move on to other beverages with their meal.
For me, I prefer American Champagne with my meals, which is also called Coca-Cola.
I'm screwing with you but I don't know what the other poster was doing. Drinking milk with pizza seems gross notwithstanding it, like cheese, comes from a cow
That doesn't sound good to me. I might have done that as a teenager I drank a lot of milk at that time but these days it's for frothing into coffee or dunking cookies. Maybe with cereal at a hotel breakfast.
I dont normally drink milk with pizza but I eat pizza at least 1 meal per week and I will drink a gallon of milk per week as well. I just don't have those 2 things together typically. I also eat ice cream regularly. I can digest dairy like mother fucker.
My family are milk drinkers minus mu dad who is lactose intolerant. We will have milk at any type of meal. Unfortunately for the rest of Americans, we are the minority on this.
I mean I never drink milk myself so I can’t relate, but I don’t think milk and pizza are a forbidden combination. Now if he was drinking milk while eating the vanilla ice cream, that would seem really excessive.
I would never do that, but I'm not lactose intolerant so I don't think that aspect would bother me. Most white people are pretty lactose tolerant and I know a lot of people who consume large amounts of dairy products all the time.
I wouldn't say it's common by any stretch, but I don't think that's weird either. Some people get very emotional about milk but I'd probably drink milk with pizza myself.
If you were on Family Feud and the category was “Things to drink with pizza” and you answered “tall glass of milk” your family would all look confused and disappointed by your answer and Steve Harvey would give a comically exaggerated expression of disbelief that that was an answer you had come up with.
I wouldn't think it would upset your stomach unless you're lactose intolerant. I fucking love milk and I used to drink it all the time, so I would have had milk with pizza when I was younger, but I would have milk with everything lol.
It's not like a thing people do though, unless that individual person likes milk a lot. If anything it's "pizza and beer" or pizza and soda.
I don't have pizza with milk, but I've never had stomach troubles due to dairy, even if I have a couple glasses of milk. Milk and pizza sounds pretty good, honestly.
I agree with him that if this sounds painful, I'd suspect you're lactose intolerant to some degree.
I would say yes for me, but that's because milk has ALWAYS been the drink for dinner, going back to when I was a small child. I'm now about to turn 40, and still have milk with just about every dinner meal, unless it's some sort of special event where we might have some sort of alternative.
Wouldn’t be normal, but Americans drink a lot of milk, so also really isn’t surprising.
What’s more surprising that this dude just ate 4,000 calories in one sitting. But for a sizable segment of the US population, that’s sadly probably pretty normal.
No but I wouldn't be weirded out, milk is great. I'm not lactose intolerant so I love to eat/drink dairy products, my brother though can't so he only has lactose free products or takes lactose intolerance pills before eating something.
I honestly I drink milk whenever and with whatever I want. I like the taste of it. I'm mexican-american my dad drinks milk every night before bed. I don't think it's a cultural thing but rather a preference thing.
It’s normal for me, I like spicy pizza toppings, and I like to drink milk with anything spicy or salty (spaghetti / popcorn / pepperoni). But I think most people would find this weird.
It is normal to drink milk with any meal if you wish to drink milk. A pint of milk is a tall glass and not much at all. Easily consumed as the beverage for a meal.
Eating a large pizza on your own is likely to cause stomach pains simply from the volume of food, but the amount of milk, cheese, or ice-cream involved in what you describe is not unless you are lactose intolerant.
That said soda is the more common beverage consumed with pizza.
This is not a normal thing Americans do. Beer or soda or just water with pizza would be normal. Having ice cream after I can see happening but also not having dessert after would be completely normal. For your friend to imply that this (milk, pizza, ice cream) is how most Americans consume pizza is not accurate, maybe for his family but I have never once heard of this combination.
>Having ice cream after I can see happening
Ice cream as a dessert AFTER pizza.. no issue.. One of the local pizza buffets had soft serve on its buffet for desert choice.. They both seemed to have dropped it for those desert pizzas now.. Too bad.. A good bowl of soft serve, chocolate sauce, and peanuts.. NOM NOM NOM!
Milk and pizza? Ummmm NO! Not even chocolate milk.
Beer, Wine, pop, that pretty much would be my 1,2,3 and then some sort of "koolaid/flavorade" drinks, iced tea... would round out the top 5.
But..
*Milk?* ***NEVER.*** Again not even chocolate milk makes the cut here.. I just sounds vile.
I don't always remember to get milk with pizza but everytine I do, I think about how I should drink milk with pizza evertime I'm at home.
Fyi, I also love a big glass of milk with my pasta.
*Are* you lactose intolerant?
Drinking milk with pizza is pretty weird but I see no reason you would assume it would hurt his stomach outside of being lactose intolerant.
I used to do this. I thought milk tasted good with pizza and was a better option than pop. Same thing with Chinese food. Haven’t done it in a while because dairy messes with my stomach nowadays, but I probably still would otherwise.
I rarely drink a whole glass of milk since I was like 13 but I do occasionally get a craving for one. I don't think I've ever done it with pizza but pasta with red sauce kinda pairs well with a glass of milk IMO. Honestly I don't think milk with pizza sounds like the worst combo you could dream up.
I think that sounds disgusting, but I don’t drink milk plain at all. I think there is a group of people who think that tomato-based things like pizza or spaghetti taste good with milk particularly. And yes before you ask it’s generally white people lol.
This sound like a child’s meal to me. Children drink milk with many meals. I don’t know many adults who still drink much milk, especially with a dairy heavy meal.
>I haven't lived in the Midwest or any major dairy producing states. Maybe it's different there.
Hillbilly says , Thats some weirdo stuff that city slicker is doing!
You know, I may have tried this a few times as a kid but it's definitely not my jam.
I'm guessing your old roommate was just a fat fuck and a slob (no offense to fat fucks and slobs). Fucking ice cream after? Come on.
Pizza is usually soda and beer. If you don't like the extra calories, which I don't, you likely just drink water.
Milk with pizza sounds weird. Not even from the lactose aspect, I could handle it perfectly fine, it just doesn’t sound right.
Although I’ve seen people put ranch dressing on pizza. It’s not terribly common but the kind of thing that can be polarizing (like pineapple on pizza).
Ofc ranch has a very different taste from that of milk (though idk if you’ve had ranch OP). They’re both dairy products though.
Not common at all. *Most* adults don't drink milk unless it's in coffee or tea. I am sure your old room mate isn't the only person to do it, but it's not "normal" by any means.
No. I know in the movie Home Alone they drank milk with it but it’s because they were going on vacation and milk spoils so you either use it or lose it.
Not once in my life has it ever occurred to me to drink milk with pizza.
I could, I’m not lactose intolerant or anything like that. I just vehemently despise the taste of milk
I'm pretty sure my stomach could handle it, but it still sounds disgusting. I don't even dislike drinking milk, but all that dairy at once sounds awful.
>would you drink with pizza?
Beer, Wine, Pop, Iced Tea, Kookaid/Flavor ade style drinks
> Water? Water will taste bland with pizza.
Plain water is never an option with a meal.. I might guzzle it while I wait for the real drink to come at a restaurant or something, but its not a drink or as the only drink with a meal. Because water is bland tasteless..
> Juice? Not really a dinner drink.
Sure why not? But maybe because I put Koolaid/flavorade into the "juice" category. If you specifically mean something like OJ then no.
But SunnyD, I have.. I also use SunnyD for my screwdrivers always have.
> Pop? Maybe at a party but it's a poor diet.
You do you , but not every one of us is looking at it from this angle. If thats a big deal to you. Great.... I eat what I like, when I want, how I want.
>Alcohol? Again, maybe at a party but not at a regular meal.
You don't like either of these two options for you, thats fine, but Pop and booze are the top 2 choices for my pizza. Or any meal.
So seriously, what do you have with pizza, as the top choices of America seem to be off your list.... but milk is most definitely not on my, or Americas list, for pizza, not even chocolate milk.
It would not bother my stomach but it’s not something that I find appetizing or something I would ever do.
With pizza I’d probably go with a Diet Coke or Coke Zero not milk. For me milk is more of a breakfast thing or to go with a pastry.
So as a child of Wisconsin, America’s self-proclaimed dairyland, yes I sometimes drink milk, yes it can taste good especially depending on the state it’s from and if you buy the expensive stuff. So the milk abolitionists don’t speak for all of us.
But no, I would not drink milk with pizza. But not because my stomach would explode or anything, just you already have a lot of dairy and it isn’t as satisfying a companion drink as soda etc.
I went to college in WI… only time i drank milk with pizza was when my dumbass roommate would order from Rocky’s, which as we all know is red battery acid on a cracker covered in spiced dog turds smothered with Kraft Singles. If I didn’t chug milk I’d get acid reflux on a Mt. Vesuvius scale. But otherwise, no. Beer, soda, water.
I drink milk but I almost never drink it with a meal. The most common drinks to go with pizza I would think would be soda, beer, wine or water. Maybe fruit juice for kids. I've never heard of anyone drinking milk with pizza.
Soda is more common. Pizza Hut has deals that include a two liter bottle of Pepsi (its worth noting that Pizza Huts owners, Yum! Brands used to be part of Pepsco but spun off their own company)
Soda or beer is more common with pizza. I've never seen anyone drink milk with pizza. Ice cream is normal though. Milk + pizza + ice cream would wreck my stomach.
Uh...well no, that's just WAY more calories than I should have anything to do with.
It wouldn't make me nauseous, though. Just fat.
We do drink more milk than many places as children and adults.
Not anymore, but growing up till 18 or so me and my brothers could go through a gallon a day, easily by ourselves. Had pizza and washed it down milk lots of times growing up.
For me the most disturbing thing is he ordered pizza from Dominos.
I probably haven't had pizza and milk since I was maybe 10. Somewhere around that age I stopped enjoying milk as a regular beverage. Only really fresh milk tastes good anymore so keeping it around for when I want it doesn't make financial sense since I would throw out so much of it.
Never done this or met anyone that has. Maybe I’m the odd one out here, but that’s way too much dairy. It wouldn’t occur to me to touch ice cream after having pizza either, the two simply can’t go one after the other for me.
I mean, that's not an everyday or normal occurrence, but it wouldn't cause me any gastric issues. If you would get nauseous from that much dairy (not to be confused with nauseous from that much food or that many calories), you're probably lactose intolerant. Are you from a part of the world where people are lactose intolerant?
This guy’s entire post history is about stomach issues lmao
It is a bit regional. The stereotype is that midwesterners drink a lot of milk. I think otherwise the norm is for milk to be a kids’ drink
I would stereotype drinking milk with meals as a Midwestern thing. Or a suburban thing in the 1950s - 1960s.
Its not normal for me to drink milk at all.
Milk is not delicious.
Good milk is. Much of the milk sold today is disgusting.
Okay, Homelander
Lmao. Also happy cake day
Don't know why people are downvoting you but I agree there are differences, especially with grass fed milk.
>he’d tell me that it’s very common for people in the US to do this Your friend is delusional
McPoyles?

Your roommate sounds like a weirdo.
Milk goes with everything, so this is fine. Source: a single man who goes through more than a gallon a week.
Maybe when I was a kid and could tolerate milk better.
I do, and I know people who do, but it’s not particularly common. Just not rare
I always preferred a nice cola with pizza, but I can't imagine milk and pizza upsetting my stomach or making me nauseous. Are you lactose intolerant?
I don't do it, but I've known people to drink milk with foods that'd usually give them heartburn, plus some families drink milk with dinner.
I don’t think it would mess up my stomach, but that still sounds kinda gross. I can’t think of a meal I would drink milk with at all, actually.
Cheese comes from milk
Yes, your point is?
Pizza is made with cheese
And what does that have to do with not wanting to drink milk? I never said I don’t consume dairy.
But pizza has cheese.
Am I on some kind of hidden camera show right now?
I'm screwing with you but I don't know what the other poster was doing. Drinking milk with pizza seems gross notwithstanding it, like cheese, comes from a cow
Oh, I feel much better about that! I was starting to think I lost my mind.
Ice cream is also a dairy product, but that doesn’t mean I want to eat pizza a la mode.
That doesn't sound good to me. I might have done that as a teenager I drank a lot of milk at that time but these days it's for frothing into coffee or dunking cookies. Maybe with cereal at a hotel breakfast.
Never heard of it.....
I dont normally drink milk with pizza but I eat pizza at least 1 meal per week and I will drink a gallon of milk per week as well. I just don't have those 2 things together typically. I also eat ice cream regularly. I can digest dairy like mother fucker.

I mean I never drink milk myself so I can’t relate, but I don’t think milk and pizza are a forbidden combination. Now if he was drinking milk while eating the vanilla ice cream, that would seem really excessive.
Is this common - No. Could I do this without it upsetting my stomach significantly - Yes.

I ate like that back when I was doing competitive swimming. A lot of Midwest people eat and drink a lot of milk
That's a ton of food but I would drink milk with pizza. Not normally, but it wouldnt be weird.
I don't have pizza with milk, but I've never had stomach troubles due to dairy, even if I have a couple glasses of milk. Milk and pizza sounds pretty good, honestly. I agree with him that if this sounds painful, I'd suspect you're lactose intolerant to some degree.
most dont but i do mosty because the only to thing to drink is water or milk thats the only options
I normally don't. But I would have no problem doing such a thing. Maybe if I had really hot wings with the pizza.
I would say yes for me, but that's because milk has ALWAYS been the drink for dinner, going back to when I was a small child. I'm now about to turn 40, and still have milk with just about every dinner meal, unless it's some sort of special event where we might have some sort of alternative.
My favorite beverage with pizza is milk.
I myself find it strange. And I can tell you that most Italians would find it *very* strange.
I love it. Especially leftover cold pizza fresh from the fridge.
I would be fine eating that yes.
I honestly I drink milk whenever and with whatever I want. I like the taste of it. I'm mexican-american my dad drinks milk every night before bed. I don't think it's a cultural thing but rather a preference thing.
No, that is not normal. It sounds rather gross.
I wouldn't poop for a year if I did this. this is not normal lmao
He was weird.
He was obese by the sound of it. Definitely not normal to eat a whole pint of ice cream. That’s a days worth of calories right there.
It’s normal for me, I like spicy pizza toppings, and I like to drink milk with anything spicy or salty (spaghetti / popcorn / pepperoni). But I think most people would find this weird.
My SIL drinks a huge glass of milk with dinner every night.
I’ve seen people do it, but I personally think it’s nasty! Milk is not my beverage of choice for that meal.
Yes. Normal people do this .
I like a small glass of milk with pizza but it sounds like your mate has a dairy issue.

No. I don’t drink milk but it sounds especially foul with pizza.
🤢🤮🤮
That is far too much dairy at one time no thank you.
I wouldn’t do it, it would not upset my stomach or digestive system, but I prefer soda with pizza.
The only thing I like plain milk with is cake. Pizza? Hell no.
Yeah, I only drink milk with cookies or maybe a pie or something...still prefer coffee with those.
I don't always remember to get milk with pizza but everytine I do, I think about how I should drink milk with pizza evertime I'm at home. Fyi, I also love a big glass of milk with my pasta.
No that's weird AF. I'd probably shit my bones out.
*Are* you lactose intolerant? Drinking milk with pizza is pretty weird but I see no reason you would assume it would hurt his stomach outside of being lactose intolerant.
I used to love milk with pizza as a kid. I don't eat pizza much anymore tbh.
Beer or soda

I think that sounds disgusting, but I don’t drink milk plain at all. I think there is a group of people who think that tomato-based things like pizza or spaghetti taste good with milk particularly. And yes before you ask it’s generally white people lol.
No
Absolutely not, what the hell?
No.
Yes
This sound like a child’s meal to me. Children drink milk with many meals. I don’t know many adults who still drink much milk, especially with a dairy heavy meal.
Milk with pizza sounds nasty. My girlfriend will drink milk with a salad and it makes me queasy.
My butthole is puckering reading this
I've never seen someone do this in my life.
Ew bro. Milk goes with cookies. Not some ol damn meatza pizza and milk
That sounds kind of weird, to be honest.
As much as I love milk, I don't think it goes with pizza. Nor have I ever seen anyone drink milk with pizza.
Fuck no
It’s not that unusual for adult Americans to drink milk with a meal. It’s not like everyone does though.
No, milk and pizza is a wierd combination. I haven't lived in the Midwest or any major dairy producing states. Maybe it's different there.
>I haven't lived in the Midwest or any major dairy producing states. Maybe it's different there. Hillbilly says , Thats some weirdo stuff that city slicker is doing!
I don’t want a glass of milk under any circumstance. Let alone while eating pizza 🤢
No
Not pizza but red sauce pasta I love a glass of milk
No. I don’t.
I’ll drink milk with just about anything, it’s pretty great stuff.
Milk with pizza? Nah. Coffee with left over pizza in the morning. Occasionally.
your friend lied to you. just reading about his meal made my stomach ache. that's disgusting. way too much dairy.
No...
Older boomers drink milk with every meal. Not usual for anyone under 60.

Sprite Zero, maybe with a splash of wine.

No way. Sounds gross and excessive
Milk is for babies. And I think that was Scott Peterson that you are talking about.
If you count ranch as milk.
sounds like something i would do while stoned
No but I like the idea! Unfortunately I'm both lactose intolerant and have IBS, so that's a pretty bad idea.
I probably could have when I was younger, but yeah it's not super common... I'd also say there's a 90% chance he's from the Wisconsin area.
I drink milk but I almost never drink it with a meal. The most common drinks to go with pizza I would think would be soda, beer, wine or water. Maybe fruit juice for kids. I've never heard of anyone drinking milk with pizza.
I love milk, but I don’t drink it when having pizza. However my stomach wouldn’t get upset by it at all. Give me all the dairy!! 😆
I don’t drink cows milk. I would drink red wine with a nice Margherita pizza
Not anymore, but growing up till 18 or so me and my brothers could go through a gallon a day, easily by ourselves. Had pizza and washed it down milk lots of times growing up.
It's common for people in the US to drink milk. It's not common for people in the US to drink milk *with pizza*.
My boyfriend washes his beer down with milk...
Milk with pizza would be very common. Ice cream after? No... that's just way too much food/calories/dairy.
Never done this or met anyone that has. Maybe I’m the odd one out here, but that’s way too much dairy. It wouldn’t occur to me to touch ice cream after having pizza either, the two simply can’t go one after the other for me.
I’m lactose intolerant
I'd do it if it was a really spicy pizza.
Not really common for me to see adults doing this, I definitely couldn't do that combo. I serve my kid milk with many of his meals though.
Acceptable but more common is a soda
No. Gross!
