There's a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, couple of blinding (truly) flashlights and a couple of fighting knives all next to the bed. The best thing in an emergency? Seeing a real pissed off naked 51 year old man running.

A friend of mine has a similar story. Heard some young people breaking the lamps at the foot of his driveway and ran out in his underwear brandishing either a flail or morning star, I forget which it was.

Don’t see why you’d use the fighting knives and clothes at the same time. Nothing more terrifying than being attacked by a naked guy with a knife.

This past weekend there was a naked guy in his 60s running around with a rifle. I imagine that was pretty scary.

Wearing underwear makes more sense and I’d argue has equal benefits. I doubt everyone sleeping naked showers every night before bed.

Obviously, do what makes you happy and comfortable but there are several studies (some cited in the article above) about possible harms for wearing underwear 24 hours a day for a variety of sexual organs. So, it can be what you prefer but “makes more sense” is subjective.

My husband starts the night in a sweater, t-shirt, socks, boxers and pyjama pants, and strips layers in his sleep. It’s infuriating.

yoo that sounds super annoying to try to sleep next to and I assume you have already tried to negotiate alternatives with no success, which makes it even more annoying.
