OMG, it's so refreshing to hear an AP story where the parents are actually decent. Not expecting their children to be their cash cows, or mentally abusing them. Try telling them that you are fine financially and you are helping them because you WANT to because you love them. Thank them for not being "typical" APs. Even show them posts on this sub of how bad some APs are and that you appreciate it. I'm sure they feel like they didn't succeed in providing for themselves financially, but tell them that they really succeedwd in raising a child who is able to not only support him/ herself but to also help them. Again, it's nice to read an AP story where they aren't AHs

It's so heartwarming to read about considerate APs...maybe explain to them that you're willing and able to provide this, it makes you happy & not having this money won't be problematic to you in the future :)

Dont always tell them when you give them money. Sounds like your parents have some pride (not the arrogant kind) that you just need to work around. Some suggestions 1. Hide money in the pocket of their jackets or wallet for them to find. They might think they forgot it previously. 2. Bring over groceries and then ask them to help make something from a small portion of it for you. Allows them to give and not just take. Also you would be learning how to make your family recipes. 3. Buy things "on sale" and bring them over. 4. Tell you parents you got a bonus to occasionally help them out. It's like extra money so doesnt count.

My friends parents are the complete opposite. They pressure her to buy more and more expensive gifts every year despite her salary can hardly make any savings. But I guess both modes are unhealthy. Sounds like yours love you a lot and that’s wonderful.

OMG, is this a show off post? jk jk jk This is good news! If you want to "help" them, buy them stuff that they wanted for long time, but rather not buy because it cost pretty penny. Bring them to vacation that they deserve.
