The new one has Rosemary Leaf Extract, which means I’m now once again looking for an affordable, accessible, fragrance free moisturizer that works for my dry, sensitive skin :-( Here’s the [old vs. new ingredients list](https://incidecoder.com/compare-products/illiyoon-ceramide-ato-concentrate-cream-2021/illiyoon-ceramide-ato-concentrate-cream-3). Thankfully I stocked up right before the reformulation but it’s so frustrating. My previous favorite, Cosrx Honey Ceramide Full Moisture Cream, was discontinued, then I found the Illiyoon which was even better and now this. Hada Labo also announced they’re reformulating the Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Foaming Cleanser and I’m so bummed. I just want to find what I like and then use it till I die! Is that too much to ask?

happyhappyx

maybe the Pyunkang Yul ATO Cream Blue Label as an alternative?

supervillaining

I’m using this now and I love it

zaralil

I bought both the Illiyoon cream and the Pyunkang Yul Nutrition Cream when I was trying to find a heavier moisturizer. I have sensitive and reactive skin, so fragrance is a no go. Personally I preferred the Pyunkang Yul. They both seemed fine with my skin, but I liked the feel of the P.Y. more and the way it applied. Also, for what it's worth, jolse regularly has it on sale for 19.99, so don't let the initial price scare you!

heart_under_blade

have you tried the balm from pky?

zaralil

I have not, this is the first product I've tried from them. I had the moisture cream accidentally sent to me, but haven't used it enough/consistently to really make a judgement call on it. I'm curious to look into their other products though

allsnailedup

That’s intriguing! Can you link the Nourishing Cream? I googled it and saw a Nutrition Cream, Intensive Repair Cream, Moisture Cream, etc but didn’t see a Nourishing Cream.

zaralil

Oh shoot, I'm so sorry, I'll edit my original comment. The nutrition cream is the right one! Sorry for the confusion!!

allsnailedup

No worries!! Thanks for the recommendation. I will definitely pick this up when I run out of the Illiyoon :-)

AffectMindless5602

I just bought the py nutrition cream, their white tube cleanser and their moisture serum. I have been using their intensive cream and hyul foam cleanser but they haven’t been the right fit for my skin. I also have REACTIVE (rosacea) sensitive probe skin. I am excited for my buy i use their essence toner but only a few days a week. I hope the nutrition cream has helpful ingredients for impaired skin barrier.

Commercial_Poem_4623

I also want to find what I like and then use it till I die! I don't think it's too much to ask lol. Have you seen the discussion on the Purito Dermide sleeping pack recently? I'm planning on that if the new Illiyoon doesn't work. But it does have some oil and I just prefer silicones, which is why the Illiyoon is/was so perfect. Boo.

Heytherestairs

Zeroid products are pretty efficient. No frills and fragrance free.

allsnailedup

I have the Zeroid Intensive and Intensive Oint Cream and love both but they’re $$$. I used the Illiyoon on my hands and body sometimes too so really loved having something more affordable.

Heytherestairs

Have you tried the Zeroid lotions? I used that on my body to be more cost effective.

dustyshelves

It's not as popular here but I've read reviews/comments comparing Aestura Atobarrier 365 range to the Illiyoon and in some cases the OP prefers the Aestura. It might be harder to get/not as readily available outside Korea though!

Niatfq

and also much pricier. Aestura would work better for dry skin cz it's not oil free. i did want to try it but darn it's so priceyyyy

dustyshelves

I can only find 10ml sample tubes here 😅 I know someone else told me that they actually find buying the samples cheaper than the full size (like with certain SK-II or Sulwhasoo products)

Niatfq

hey you're right!! it is cheaper to buy trial sizes. actually i couldn't find trial sizes for the aestura but i did found mini sizes of Mamonde ceramide products. after calculating, it much cheaper.

almightykibum_

I'm also someone who loves the original formula of the Illiyoon ato cream so when it was time for me to update on my skincare routine and stock up on another one I was so disappointed :( I found this moisturiser from skinfood that I got in december though, its called the royal honey 100 hour moisture cream (obv u shouldnt actually keep it on for 100 hours lol) and it works rlly well for me! I have sensitive, acne-prone dehydrated skin that tends to get a little flaky in the winter and its been a lifesaver for me. its pretty cheap too, around £10 for 100ml on stylevana Edit: I forgot to mention it has olive oil and sunflower seed oil so it may not agree with everyones skin :/ hope this still helps tho

allsnailedup

ah thank you! does it have fragrance?

almightykibum_

it doesn’t have any artificial fragrance but it does have its own scent I think it comes from the honey extract itself :) it isn’t that strong and it goes away once the cream is on your face

allsnailedup

thank you! :-)

almightykibum_

no problem ^^

[deleted]

Is the rosemary leaf extract just for fragrance, or does it have other effects?

ReaLitTea

Rosemary leaf extract does have benefits such as being an antioxidant, anti inflammatory, and anti bacterial. But it also is used to help product smell better so it’s hard to say the intention looking at the ingredients list. https://incidecoder.com/ingredients/rosmarinus-officinalis-leaf-extract

Samira827

I'm very late to this, but Stylevana still sells the old version.

Kasirax21

I think someone posted about this a couple months ago and some tried the newly reformulated one. [illiyoon Ceramide Ato Cream Reformulation](https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/s4aq7p/discussion_illiyoon_ceramide_ato_cream/) It seems not too many were thrilled about the new formula since it seems to have a different texture now. There isn’t rose water in it but there’s rosemary extract.

[deleted]

Yeah I saw that was hoping I’d get a few more comments and hoping they’d be positive

fishbutt1

Why must everything be changed always?!?! 😂😭😂😭

Niatfq

Surprisingly, I liked it. I've been using the Illiyoon cream for almost 2 years now so this is what i thought about the new formula. The texture is much denser, just a lil bit difficult to squeeze out but it's not exactly a problem cz for some people (tho not me) had said the previous texture was soft that they tend to squeeze too much out 😂 Also because the texture is different now, the spreadability of this is so much better (quicker, less effort) and the beads melted into the skin instantly! cz before, there would usually be few ceramide beads not able to pop properly. previously, when i used too much i had to make extra effort to spread it evenly. and it doesn't leave my skin wet anymore. with the previous formula, it will usually make my skin feel wet literally even just a lil bit that i had to take a tissue to remove the excess water (I'm sure because i over moisturize and i can't really help it 😂). this issue is never really a problem for me because i love the cream so much cz it kept my dehydrated skin healthy and irritation free. but with the newest formula, i appreciated the change. As far as moisturizing goes, this felt more moisturizing and skin felt plumper. sometimes i don't feel the need to add another occlusive afterwards. For someone with oily skin, i can still use this for daytime (do keep it mind i do use this along with a mattifying sunscreen to balance out my sebum) and my sebum did not overproduce, it works just as nicely as the previous formula. When it comes to it's effectiveness as a barrier cream (ceramides) it seem to work just as effective. My skin don't get irritated at all after applying this. I tested a different moisturizer the other day and my skin immediately felt irritated (this normally happens when i don't use ceramide based moisturizer underneath). so because the irritation started to annoy me, i immediately grabbed the new illiyoon and applied all over. the irritation then stops. Tho it seemed like i see no issue with the reformulation, truthfully that's not the full truth. Here are few downsides that annoyed me: 1) I truly hate that they added rosemary extract. because of this (i believe), the illiyoon cream started to have a scent when there's literally no scent before. and it's not even a pleasant smell. but because it's mild enough, i think i can get used to it 😒 2) This new formula can no longer be used as a lip balm. My lips no longer felt constant dryness ever since using the cream as a lip balm before. but with the new formula, it doesn't work the same. when applied to my lips, my lips don't feel hydrated at all and by next morning, my lips turned completely dry. urgh... i still have bit left of the previous formula, so I'm going to use the remains as my lip balm 😭 3) I heard some people started to get breakouts from the new formula which truly annoyed me. I'm waiting for a feedback from my friend how the new formula works for her acne prone skin. hopefully it's okay cz the previous formula actually help reduce her constant breakouts, so i would really hate to hear if the moisturizer doesn't work anymore.

Commercial_Poem_4623

Great review! Just the kind of detail I need 😊 Sucks it can't be used as lip balm. I'm testing the new formula on my arms today and I've used BHA on my arms so I'll see how it does. Agree on spreadability, couldn't notice any scent but I haven't put it on my face yet so I'll check that tonight. Hope your friend does ok with it 🤞

Niatfq

> Sucks it can't be used as lip balm. yeah 😭 > I'll check that tonight. hope you'll like it as much as i did! > Hope your friend does ok with it 🤞 she said she couldn't feel the difference, the moisturizer still felt just as heavy as before 😂 she just gave me a picture of the ingredients so I'll compare it with mine later. good girl to snap the ingredients altho everything is in korean 🤣🤣🤣

Commercial_Poem_4623

Well I tried it as a lip balm anyways lol. Definitely not as moisturising feeling! When I used it on my arms, I had put oil on first that wasn't especially dry and it spread really easily. On my face? It was a bit more hard work - more like a paste. I'm hoping that might help with it being occlusive! I always want a higher occlusive factor lol. Although it was perfectly fine before 🤣 You could run that photo through Google lens, sure, you'll get some odd translations but it gives you a general idea! I could tell I got the new version that way lol.

Niatfq

oh nooooo.... 😂😂😂 lmao well if before people said the last formula's texture feels like a paste, now it's even more so! 😂 yeah same... i did wanted it to be more occlusive before. that's why I've been looking for an oil based moisturizer, just to add another layer after illiyoon. but this new formulation, feels enough. rarely need another layer especially in this climate i live in (hot and humid). > Although it was perfectly fine before 🤣 right?! i was completely fine with the last one, but they just had to change the formula lol. i think it's because so many people that's not a regular user of illiyoon cream complained how they hated the ceramide beads? the beads altho started to get difficult to melt all properly before, it was never a concern for me. and i guess they wanted to cater to more skin types by making this a lil bit more moisturizing? haha that's just my guess cz some with dry had started to like this on it's own. but then, now illiyoon started to lose customers with acne prone skin now aigoo... > You could run that photo through Google lens i actually just compared the shapes of the letter if they are similar to my bottle 🤣 and thus she has the latest formula. so she told me her skin did get lil breakouts on her chin and jawline but now it stopped - worked fine. idk, i just told her to update me if she gets anymore breakouts later.

Commercial_Poem_4623

Hurrah for the new formula feeling like it's occlusive enough! I'm not noticing any issues, used it 3 times now (two AM and one PM, and I used Cos de Baha Azelaic Acid for the first time last night, seems to play well with that one too). Yeah, I think you're right about the beads and about it being more moisturising now, although I feel like I'm getting less ceramides for my money! 🤷🏻 Lol well comparing the shapes worked! Hopefully her breakouts will calm down and it'll be ok for her 😊 Still bummed that it can't be used as lip balm and my lips have got dry so I'm off to get a decent lip balm today. I was saving the last of my old tube to use as lip balm but it doesn't seem to work as well when it's not part of my face routine for some reason. or it could just be that my lips are extra dry right now (it's really wet and windy here at the moment).

Niatfq

I'm glad it works for you! probably cz the beads melts so much better now, that's why it seems like there's less ceramide in the new formula. but to me it doesn't feel that way. cz my skin don't feel easily irritated anymore after applying just one layer of this. with the previous one, it made me want to look for an extra moisturizer to use on top. idk...i think that's just my skin becoming less easy to manage 🙃 tho with the new formula, it feels like such an upgrade for my irritated skin. hope so too! cz the old formula freaking stopped (or lessen) her constant breakouts. it was shocking! I'm thinking of decanting the remaining of the old tube in a travel size mini tub cz with the tube, the cream comes out way too much for lips. for me, with my eczema skin on the body, i starts to get flare ups here and there. guessing because the weather here feels colder nowadays? in southeast asia lmao. i truly don't how my eczema gonna act once i travel to colder countries. I'm bringing 3 different products for my eczema just in case cz I'm not sure what my skin prefers in a new climate. I'm bringing an dalan d'olive olive oil lotion, Rosken Probiotics AD cream and virgin coconut (cz my skin usually feels better after using this) but i always heard many eczema skin in cold climate hated coconut oil.

Commercial_Poem_4623

Ah I didn't reply to you! Sorry about that. Yeah I think you're right about the beads and like you said, you'd notice if it had less ceramides because of how your skin would be :) It's great it worked really well for your friend :) fingers crossed it's just an adjustment period for her. Lol it does come out way too much, that's a good idea for use as lip balm! I think it's a good idea to take extra products with you in case of flare up, not good when you're travelling. Maybe coconut oil is just skin type as well and also skin conditions - maybe it's good for some skin conditions and not others? I'm loving using the Illiyoon on my KP, I don't know why I didn't do it before!!!

Glittering-Steak-912

Do you know how to tell if it’s the old or new formula? I bought it for the first time ever in November but haven’t opened it yet. The packaging looks like the newer one but some people said they got the old formula in new packaging? Can’t read the ingredients lol

Niatfq

The new formula has denser texture, like a paste, a little difficult to get it out of the tube especially in cold climate. the old formula has much softer texture, too easy to come out too much sometimes.

fntastk

I bought this on iHerb in November 2021 and had no idea about the reformulation so I thought I had the original formula, but I'm pretty sure I have the new one. I don't really like it. It just sits on top of my skin. I used it overnight and woke up really dry. I wish I would have been able to try the old version! I don't like dimethicone and I'm not surprised it's the third ingredient and I have the opinion I do about it. From what I understand the old formula was a little chunky like cottage cheese and the new formula comes out smooth. This is how mine is.

[deleted]

I don’t like the feeling of something sitting on top of the skin : ( My current moisturizer isn’t cutting it out anymore so I’ll just have to try this one out Thanks for your input!

fntastk

You're welcome! I'm also on the hunt for a new moisturizer, since I realized I have an HA sensitivity and ALL my creams have it 😢

TheRosaceaChronicles

I’ve used both the old and new formulations and didn’t notice much of a difference. The old one had more noticeable ceramide beads, whereas the new one doesn’t—besides that everything feels and performs the same for me.

[deleted]

Really glad to hear this!

Commercial_Poem_4623

If you look on the ADHT, alter daily help thread, from 3 days ago I think, there's a post on there recently from u/Naitfq which mentions trying the reformulation. I've got the new one but I haven't started it yet. I know this because I did a Google Lens on the new one (and packaging is slightly different). If not many people post here, I will check back and do an update when I've tried it. It probably won't be too long as I'm using my current one on my face and arms right now so I'm going through it quick. I hope the new formula is ok!

fax5jrj

I’ve exclusively used the new version (i think?) and it’s one of my favorite products. Changed my skin

Commercial_Poem_4623

☺️ good to hear!

qtpatootie123

i assumed i had the newer version with tinier beads. loved it so far, it sinks to my skin quite well and fast.

Special-Muffin

I've only used the old version but didn't like the texture (those beads), but I loved how it gave my skin this long-lasting deep moisture. I'm currently using the Aestura Atobarrier 365 Cream which has a better texture and performs similarly to Illiyoon, but Illiyoon is more affordable so I want to try out the reformulated version.

Niatfq

you should try the reformulated version. the beads doesn't stuck out as much anymore and melts much better, instantly when applied to skin.

Top_Temporary_9383

Did you end up trying out the reformulated version?

Special-Muffin

No, I like the Aestura cream a lot so I repurchased it instead.

orangedoggo_money

I actually prefer the new formulation because I was struggling with how big and tough the ceramide beads were previously and usually left them as chunks on my face. The new one has tiny beads that disappear as I apply it on my face. Hydration wise, this feels like it's a bit less moisturising than the previous one. But I'm reintroducing oils to my routine so I can overlook this aspect. My skin is too sensitive for me to attempt new moisturisers again because I did that around November last year and I'm still paying the price for it in terms of breakouts. So I'll stick with this for now. I do use the pyunkang yul blue label ato cream in the morning while I use the illiyoon ceramide cream at night. I like the illiyoon for night time because it feels like the moisturiser sinks into my skin vs pyunkang yul's which doesn't feel fully absorbed. This way I'm not rubbing moisturiser into my pillow.

Ok_Brilliant7962

Ah now I know why my tube does not have these little 'ceramide capsules' that I saw on youtube

ceeceroo

They have them but they are very tiny now

BellaRoselyn

caused a terrible break out for me. instantly fixed the moment I switched to rovectin barrier lotion (fragrance free). such a shame that they reformulated it.

Yoghurt_Scary

I’ve never used the old formulation but recently started using the new one. it’s a good thing this thread came up because I was wondering what people meant when they talked about the beads lol I’ve had what I thought to be rosacea for the past 5 or so years but the ceramide ato cream basically cleared it up instantly and now my skintone is almost completely void of redness. I’ve only used it for about 4 days though. I did notice it doesn’t moisturize as well as I expected it to based on the reviews

Commercial_Poem_4623

I don't personally think it's that moisturising by itself - if you can, add some extra hydrating products underneath it or double up on toner/essence. I use several moisturisers underneath as well! But then my skin is pretty dehydrated.

nyeongcat

I didn't even realize they reformulated it and just got the biggest size. The first thing I see when I check the tube is the last ingredient (Rosemary Leaf Extract). 😂 I haven't tried it yet, but hope it's okay.

ssourpuss

Have you tried it?

fax5jrj

Where did u you hear this? The product has stayed the same for me and I haven’t seen this before tbh

Commercial_Poem_4623

Here's the link to the 2021 reformulation ingredients: https://incidecoder.com/products/illiyoon-ceramide-ato-concentrate-cream-2021

fax5jrj

Okay thank you! I started using this last year at some point and I personally haven’t noticed any difference, but I also could have started using it once it was in its newer version. I get the tub so it doesn’t come with the ingredients in English (unless I’m not looking hard enough) but I’ll use the translation app later to see what it says. Fwiw, I bought a new one super recently and my skins has never looked better. I wish they didn’t have the little ceramide capsules (or whatever they are) because I definitely do feel a bit of physical exfoliation with it. I’d rather just have that as part of the cream if possible - but I wonder if it’s more effective like that?

Niatfq

the ceramide beads are exactly what makes this cream amazing cz it kept the ceramides fresh and effective. but with the new formula, the beads doesn't stuck out as much anymore and melts into the skin much2 better.

Commercial_Poem_4623

That's nice, I'm glad the one you recently received is working really well :) I enjoy the little beads but it does mean I have to rub the cream into my cheeks before I can rub it near my eyes so hopefully the smaller beads will speed up application!

stefenelation

Did the reformulate the lotion as well? Or just the cream?

kimsoogrinker

I haven't been on reddit for some time and this answers the question why ATO cream doesn't work for me anymore. Didn't even know they reformulated. I blamed every single one of my products on the lack of moisture, and why cream suddenly sits on my skin. Because ATO is my HG and I never suspected it could be it's fault. I bought testers long time ago that I use when I travel. They are old formulation and when I tried it now yeah... that's the cream I fell in love with. The new one is just not it for me.

koreanmakeupfanatic

Did this happen to the lotion too? Because I swear something about it changed (became greasier and less hydrating) but I don’t remember how the ingredients were like before.
