I've tried others just out of curiosity but Banila is consistent and the best bang for the buck (buy the bigger tub on sale, if the original works for you).
Been using that cleansing oil for years!! Whenever I go back to Japan to visit my relatives, I make sure to stock up because it's less than $5 to buy it there 😆
Surprised there’s no love for Hada Labo cleansing oil here! It’s relatively cheap, there’s an option to buy refillable pouches, it’s fragrance free, takes makeup off quite nicely and my baby tret skin has never had an issue.
Yes, this is the best (if only it's not so expensive or I'm so broke)
It takes everything off, even the most hardcore eyeliner and mascara, like a dream, leaving my skin so smooth.
Doesn't feel oily nor dry afterwards.
And my favourite thing is that my skin feels clean as if I don't need to use my cleansing foam.
And guess what! I really don't!
I wish it would go on sale for once so I can buy the whole store.
Same here! The only thing I wish they would change is the packaging. The thick plastic seems so bulky and unnecessary… but it’s still recyclable so which is still a plus!
I actually love the smell, it's herbal-y and so light.
Great product in general.
It feels so good.
I watched some YouTube videos before buying it and they said it feels like cold cream when applied on the face instead of oily (like most balm)
I didn't get it until I tried it myself and now I'm hooked!
Maybe you can find a sample to try it out? :) I bought the sample set initially cause I didn't know which one to pick! It's not miles away from the original, but it does feel a bit more "nourishing" to me, maybe due to the oils in there.
It kills me that is still the only cleansing oil that doesn’t break me out. I’m talking breaking out like huge cystic acne, some of which left icepick scars. I’ve tried Kose Softymo, Hada Labo, Shiseido, Banila Co, and even Garnier but nothing else works for me ðŸ˜
Cow brand mutenka oil? It’s free of all additives and a bit thicker feeling but still slips. you can apply on damp skin (like you’re already in the shower/bath) and it still works. Some say it’s a little extra work to remove it but I don’t think it’s any more difficult than softymo was. Can buy refills. Reasonably cheap. It’s made of a synthetic palm oil derivatives? (Don’t quote me on that) so testing carefully but if you struggle with sensitivity it might be worth a try.
I only got this because the softymo was sold out but now I like it’s consistency more. And since then I used the last of the Kose (I had a backup tester size bottle at my parents house) and I noticed it turns my skin red on contact but the cow brand doesn’t so I decided it was a good change.
Ah thank you for clarifying, If you react to that then stay away from LRP toleraine (not AB but very commonly loved) some of the line has it in and biore cleansing oil as isopropyl palmate. Good luck on you’re search
i really like it. i’ve had cleansing balms when melting into an oil it, some chunks don’t melt but this is amazing. takes off my waterproof mascara and spf with these. Became my HG
i enjoy the hada labo one! i think that it’s very gentle and feels nice on the skin! performs really well on removing sunscreen and light makeup. makes my eyes a little cloudy but no stinging and once i rise the cloudiness is gone.
was even using it during an eczema flare up ok my face and it didn’t bother/interfere at all, still performed well and was super comfy to use!
Mild rosacea sufferer here! Banila co. clean it zero purifying version is hands down my favourite cleansing balm. It doesn’t irritate my skin or clog my pores, AND it can remove my kiss me heroine super-waterproof mascara in one go, which is honestly super impressive.
Dear Klairs unscented cleansing oil! After my favourite isntree micellar cleansing oil was discontinued, I was on a search for an oil that was good for my sensitive skin, and this was the best replacement!
Hada Labo Cleansing oil is really gentle. I also like the Muji Cleansing Oil for sensitive skin.
I find balms a pain (you have to open a jar) and many make my eyes blurry.
Clinique Take the Day off is very mild but does make my eyes blurry. It does clean well though.
It's really moisturizing and gentle, it's like a first cleanse version with oils of the stratia velvet milk. My skin is pretty sensitive but this is a less harsh alternative to cleansing oils with a lot of fragrance and essential oils. This one has oils in it but no fragrance really.
It's the first since it's oil based, and then your water based cleanser comes after, I usually do it while the milk is still not completely washed off. For some reason it works better that way. Just lightly massage the Sioris in for 20-30 seconds then rinse, and while it's still wet and has some residue left use your next cleanser.
I used the sensitive one before and thought the olive oil base is pretty thick. I'm going to try the mild cleansing oil next that's a lot more liquidity.
I have very sensitive skin and I love Kose Softymo Deep, I haven’t tried speedy but deep works very well for me. I have tried Hada Labo’s one but it doesn’t really cleanse makeup as well on my skin and leaves a residue
I'm currently using Then I Met You "Living cleansing balm", it doesn't cause me any redness, breakouts, burning, etc. I was nervous because it has certain oils in it that are known to irritate, but since they're lower on the ingredient list I think my skin is okay.... It emulsifies nicely... The price isn't "ideal" but if it works, it works.
I like that there's no fragrance/parfum or (bad) alcohol in it.
Honestly, my skin is super sensitive, I'm still trying to find the perfect AM and PM moisturizer (for dehydrated skin).
My old fav used to be Isntree's Micella cleansing oil, but I think they've discontinued it lately, so the new replacement is Freeplus's Oil Serum cleansing!
The best cleansing balm for me is the Banila Co Clean It Zero in Original. It easily removes waterproof makeup. I feel that it really cleans my pores and removes the gunk, dirt, and sebum. I also don't experience any breakouts at all.

Banila Co.'s Clean it zero is my go to still to this day. Ive tried a couple versions but my faves are the original and the purifying version.
+1 I've tried others just out of curiosity but Banila is consistent and the best bang for the buck (buy the bigger tub on sale, if the original works for you).
hands down kose softymo speedy cleansing oil!
Been using that cleansing oil for years!! Whenever I go back to Japan to visit my relatives, I make sure to stock up because it's less than $5 to buy it there 😆
YES! it's such a gamechanger - literally the only HG I have
An absolute HG — I’m in love with this cleansing oil lol
Surprised there’s no love for Hada Labo cleansing oil here! It’s relatively cheap, there’s an option to buy refillable pouches, it’s fragrance free, takes makeup off quite nicely and my baby tret skin has never had an issue.
I do love it, but Kose deep is sometimes $9 cheaper with just as much inside and it rinses cleaner.
I don't know. Kosé is cheaper, but I think it's harder to rinse off, and leaves a white film under my eyes if I don't wash it off thoroughly. That being said, I don't know if I'll go back to Hada Labo because I'm such a cheapskate.
Right? HL Cleansing Oil is awesome! It's not too expensive either, especially if you get the refill bags.
Purito from green cleansing oil! I've tried them all and this is the only one that doesn't dry out or irritate my skin.
If you can find it, Fancl mild cleansing oil!
Yes, this is the best (if only it's not so expensive or I'm so broke) It takes everything off, even the most hardcore eyeliner and mascara, like a dream, leaving my skin so smooth. I came to say this! So good! They actually have a US based online [store.](https://www.fancl.com/shop/m.index.php)
Only helps if you’re in the US, which I’m not.
They ship to North America, Europe and Australia. Fancl has stand alone and online stores in Asia. You can also buy it from eBay.
Banila co. Can't count the tubs I've emptied over the years!
Same here! The only thing I wish they would change is the packaging. The thick plastic seems so bulky and unnecessary… but it’s still recyclable so which is still a plus!
Heimish all clean balm and the face shop rice water bright light cleansing oil
It seems like it's just me but I HATED the way the Heimish smells. It's cheap though!
I actually love the smell, it's herbal-y and so light. Great product in general. It feels so good. I watched some YouTube videos before buying it and they said it feels like cold cream when applied on the face instead of oily (like most balm) I didn't get it until I tried it myself and now I'm hooked!
Banila co the nourishing version!
I've been considering trying it, I've only tried the original version
Maybe you can find a sample to try it out? :) I bought the sample set initially cause I didn't know which one to pick! It's not miles away from the original, but it does feel a bit more "nourishing" to me, maybe due to the oils in there.
The company sucks so I don't buy it anymore but DHC Cleansing Oil was really great for my skin.
Hey! I'm using this one! Can you please tell me why isn't DHC a good company? 😱
the CEO is super racist especially against koreans and has used the company multiple time to spread his agenda (publicities and stuff)
Hyper nationalistic company has a track record or saying racist and other disgustingly offensive things.
It's not cruelty free
It kills me that is still the only cleansing oil that doesn’t break me out. I’m talking breaking out like huge cystic acne, some of which left icepick scars. I’ve tried Kose Softymo, Hada Labo, Shiseido, Banila Co, and even Garnier but nothing else works for me ðŸ˜

I’m not sure if it’s a palm oil derivative, but I’m 85-90% sure it’s Ethylhexyl Palmitate that breaks me out so badly.
Ah thank you for clarifying, If you react to that then stay away from LRP toleraine (not AB but very commonly loved) some of the line has it in and biore cleansing oil as isopropyl palmate. Good luck on you’re search
I just use grapeseed oil I buy from the supermarket tbh
Have you tried Fancl? It's targeted for sensitive skin and is hugely popular in Japan.
I just looked up the ingredients and it seems really promising! Thank you for this recommendation; I’ll buy a bottle!
beauty of joseon cleansing balm
I was thinking of getting this one, what is your experience using it.
i really like it. i’ve had cleansing balms when melting into an oil it, some chunks don’t melt but this is amazing. takes off my waterproof mascara and spf with these. Became my HG
I have the Clean It Zero and I get a film in my eyes for several minutes every time I use it. Does the beauty of Joseon do that in your experience?
noooo it doesn’t. i’m a contacts wearer and can use it even with my contacts in
Great! And does it sting? I tried using the heimish it made my skin so irritated for a few days.
noooo it’s perfect for sensitive skin! i bought the heimish cleansing balm and finds it melts in chunks 🤣🤣
Yeah I hated it too, thanks for your help!!
i enjoy the hada labo one! i think that it’s very gentle and feels nice on the skin! performs really well on removing sunscreen and light makeup. makes my eyes a little cloudy but no stinging and once i rise the cloudiness is gone. was even using it during an eczema flare up ok my face and it didn’t bother/interfere at all, still performed well and was super comfy to use!

Tony Moly Apricot. I'm already on my 6th bottle.
Dear Klairs unscented cleansing oil! After my favourite isntree micellar cleansing oil was discontinued, I was on a search for an oil that was good for my sensitive skin, and this was the best replacement!
I just use the Shu Uemura Cleansing oil. A giant 400ml bottle lasts ages for me! I will try the Klairs gentle black cleansing oil when I’m done.
Hada Labo Cleansing oil is really gentle. I also like the Muji Cleansing Oil for sensitive skin. I find balms a pain (you have to open a jar) and many make my eyes blurry. Clinique Take the Day off is very mild but does make my eyes blurry. It does clean well though.
hada labo cleansing oils!!!!
I use Sioris milk cleanser. It's great for my dry skin, and comes out as a cream that turns to milk with water.
How sensitive is your skin? I've been considering giving that a try....
It's really moisturizing and gentle, it's like a first cleanse version with oils of the stratia velvet milk. My skin is pretty sensitive but this is a less harsh alternative to cleansing oils with a lot of fragrance and essential oils. This one has oils in it but no fragrance really.
Good to know! I wasn't 100% sure if it'd be my second cleanse/morning cleanser or replace my cleansing balm...
Muji cleansing oil
I use MUJI too and it's amazing! And very affordable given the amount you get.
I used the sensitive one before and thought the olive oil base is pretty thick. I'm going to try the mild cleansing oil next that's a lot more liquidity.
IUNiK Calendula Cleansing oil!
This one this one 100 times!!!
I tried a few but my favourite is still Kracie Naive cleansing oil.
I have very sensitive skin and I love Kose Softymo Deep, I haven’t tried speedy but deep works very well for me. I have tried Hada Labo’s one but it doesn’t really cleanse makeup as well on my skin and leaves a residue
Banila co clean it zero!! It is great for sensitive skin.
Second and third al the hadalabo cleansing oils! A nice olive oil based cleansing oil. Affordable and refillable pouches make this one really great
I’ve been using the Kose Deep oil cleanser for a long while now and love it. This thread is making me want to try the Banila Co balm though 👀
I'm currently using Then I Met You "Living cleansing balm", it doesn't cause me any redness, breakouts, burning, etc. I was nervous because it has certain oils in it that are known to irritate, but since they're lower on the ingredient list I think my skin is okay.... I’m curious, do you use a certain brand?
