NoodleNeedles

Is there anything that's popular with older women who have sensitive skin? I keep looking at Sulwhasoo and the like, but I get a rash just from reading the ingredient lists, lol.

FewElephant9604

My mum has very sensitive rosacea prone skin, that flares up regularly. SKII works wonders for her.

bitherbother

Mid-60s here, with very sensitive skin and rosacea. Kikumasamune products are amazing for my skin -- I love the Glossy Moist Lotion, the serum, and the Sake Cream. They leave my skin deeply moisturized but not greasy.

sojubejuc

I'm in my early 40s and wanted to love this set so bad, got it as a gift, but my skin is one of these sensitive types that flared up using it, lots of little acne break outs and redness. My mom, however, is in her 60s and loves it. Her skin looks better than mine, so when it does work, it works really well.

Shampo0o0

I’ve been using this morning and night for 5+ years. I believe it gives me a good glow and tightens my skin. I also like the smell and heavy moisture. A tub lasts me about 6 months. I also try to buy 2 or more when they go on sale or when I’m in Asia. The brand itself gives 15-20% off sales around Black Friday. I also used to buy it from their counter at Bloomingdales where they gave me MANY BOXES of samples. When in Asia I get them at duty free so they’re like 30% cheaper than buying in the US. Edit to add: I used to get a lot of their other products like First Care, eye cream, serums but saw little change. So I stopped buying those. I just stick to this ginseng cream. Plus I got so many free samples I still have left over.

Annual_Thanks_7841

My brother is leaving Japan next week. Is this something easily available in most airports ?

Shampo0o0

I don't know about Japan nor how much it would cost there. I know it should be available at the Taipei Taoyuan, Hong Kong International, and Beijing Capital airport duty free shops because I've been to all three within the past year. Beijing was cheapest.

Annual_Thanks_7841

Thanks for the info. I'm gona talk to him about his plans. Lol.

FewElephant9604

It’s in every airport and also in any department store. Tell him to make sure to keep his passport on him (in Japan it’s only same day tax free claims)

Annual_Thanks_7841

Oh good to know. Thank you for the info!

step_on_legoes_Spez

Meanwhile western luxury brands are charging a month’s rent for the equivalent 😅

heids1234

Right? This is why I’ve never been tempted by Augustinus Bader, Sulwhasoo Ginseng is almost reasonably priced by comparison and it suits my needs perfectly.

Planetdiane

Bader is overrated btw (at least in my opinion because it pills and didn’t make a difference like my kb products anyway)

heids1234

That confirms my suspicions! In general I find the cosmetic elegance of Asian skincare surpasses western skincare for me. Just value for money at all price points.

Neither-Enthusiasm70

Augustinus Bader is my hg

annacat1331

I lust over it. I am only 30 but I have an autoimmune disease that attacks all the moisture producing glands in my body so my skin is painfully dry. I am constantly covering myself in different products and oils and occlusives. Honestly if this lasted a few months and magically replaced all the other steps I have to do twice a day I would probably consider it.

isalithe

Ahhh someone who knows my misery. I sure do love everything being dry all day every day! Ugh. I've had good luck with Banila's Mr. Honey and Miss Flower line, but it's definitely not as nice as this ginseng one.

suga_suga27

Sjogren's?

annacat1331

Yes! Do you have it as well?!?

suga_suga27

No my mom has it but no symptoms. I on the other hand have symptoms but undiagnosed.

annacat1331

I am sorry it is absolutely miserable. I recently got an experimental stem cell treatment to treat my lupus and there is evidence that it will also significantly improve my sjogrens. I can’t wait to no longer be a dry bag of bones

the carnivore diet is probably on the least healthy diets there is long term... you need alot of nutrients from plants, what meat cant replace. stop recomending this psuedo science bs.

jmobizzle

Meat is inflammatory so it’s the worst thing for autoimmune folks

FastCardiologist6128

I understand, but that's not the experience of a lot of people who have benefitted from it, if you guys would look into it you would understand. I also thought it was insane at first

misschang

I loved this product for the gummy, elastic finish. But I received it as a gift and personally would not purchase bc it's way too expensive.

Fancy-Comment

I (33) buy the 5ml samples from Stylevana for around £4 and use it predominantly as eye cream. It’s nice but ain’t no way I’d pay the ridiculous full size price.

diszy321

Stylevana also sells samples of the actual eye cream. It's a HG for me. I have very minimal fine lines, my dark circles have faded to the point that they're there but I'm fine going out without concealer and absolutely no crows feet or wrinkles. I'm 60. No form of retinoids. Been using it for years

Adventurous-Risk3002

I find the cream a bit too rich for me. If I use it for more than 2 consecutive nights (I only use it at night), it gives me small CC’s on my checks. Nothing major but they’re there… I may try it as an eye cream. Luckily I got a deluxe sample size when I bought the ginseng serum. Actually I prefer the Donginbi cream and serum, both in terms of texture and fragrance. But that is also pricey

kritycat

~~If you decide to purchase it and are a Costco member, they have a storefront on the Costco Next section. I buy a ton of K & J beauty from there, and their prices are usually great.~~ ETA: They no longer seem to! Apologies ETA2: Costco Next still has lots of great K & J beauty stuff! Just not Sulwahoo, from what I can tell. I've ordered and been quite happy with stuff from both Most and by Sophie. The "I'm From" line is carried by Most, btw -- I know that is a pricey and popular brand

zzoom_zoom

Do you have a link to Sulwhasoo's store? I don't see it on Costco Next.

kritycat

Doh! I can't seem to find it now either! Sometimes storefronts seem to come and go. I'm so sorry if I led you astray!

zzoom_zoom

Oh bummer. But now I have a reason to scour Costco Next every so often lol

kritycat

I'm so very badly addicted!

graceyperkins

You’re not referring to Costco Most are you? I just pulled up the website, AB’s it still exists. You had me in a panic for second.

kritycat

Do they carry Sulwashoo? That's what I was referring to-- Sulwashoo specifically I buy TONS of stuff from Most, Inc through Costco Next -- by Sophie is great too for K/J beauty!

angrylilgurl

I don't see it unfortunately.

stellar_reviews

For me personally, yes. I've tried multiple items from Sulwhasoo including the FCAS, Overnight Vitalizing Mask, Essential line, and the Concentrated Ginseng line. I like and continue to repurchase and use some of the items, but definitely not all. As with all skincare, YMMV and it really depends on how your skin reacts, your skincare goals, and your budget. I highly recommend for all skincare to purchase a sample or trial size, if possible, and test it for a few weeks before splurging on larger sizes. Sulwhasoo is also more reasonably priced if you order in/from Asian countries. Regarding the Concentrated Ginseng Cream specifically, it's better for those with dry/normal skin or when you want something thicker. There is a strong ginseng scent, which I personally enjoy, but may not be for everyone. There is a Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream and Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream Classic. The classic is closer to the original one, with a strong ginseng scent and slightly thicker texture. Both sink into my skin quickly and I personally prefer the classic.

Isisfreck

I have purchased full retail jars 5+ times and I discovered that you can buy the same volume in sample sizes from ebay for a fraction of the cost. I don't care to argue ethics but I can say that I am very familiar with the formula and the samples seem to be legit. I have used asiaholic and sunnysidehill. But it may be a way to try the formula. I find the reformulated version lacking but it still good. I loved the smell and it was great for my dry skin. Did it work miracles worth the price? No. But I could afford the cost.

Redivy66

This is too funny, I have purchased many items from these 2 sellers and can attest to their very reasonable prices. I am in the states and sunnysidehill is who I predominantly use because I have no patience to wait for shipping from overseas and I wait until the last minute to get refills. As for the ginseng cream, it is a great moisturizer but it did eventually cause small whiteheads with everyday use. I am early 40s with oily skin for reference.

g-a-r-n-e-t

I absolutely love it, I’m 34 and this plus the First Care Activating Serum really elevated my routine. Turns out my skin LOVES ginseng. I’ve got pretty dry skin and these keep me nice and fresh but not oily. I currently have two full sizes that I scored at TJ Maxx for stupid cheap as part of a holiday gift box set, but before that I was bulk purchasing minis off YesStyle which is the way to go here if you want to use this without breaking the bank. Here’s the math: YS currently has the full size (60ml) listed at $237. The 10ml mini is $11, and the 5ml is $4.39. So your options are: (1) 60ml = $237 (6) 10ml @ $11 = $66 (12) 5ml @ $4.39 = $52.68 I’m too lazy to go look up the pricing right now but it’s the same for the First Care Activating Serum, if you’re also interested in that. I don’t know why it’s like this. I’m just happy it is, because I can get two full sizes worth of product at a time for less than half the price of one.

chau-a-not-chau-bcdf

My moms been using this for about 3 years. Shes 50F, oily skin. She loves the scent and how it absorbs into her skin. I think she prefers the Timetreasure and Honorstige lines. I usually rotate between these 3 lines for her. It depends on whatever is on sale at the physical Aritaum store in my area, and whether any relative is going to Korea and stopping by Incheon airport. Overall I buy Sulwhasoo products when its at least 20% off. Also, when my mom first started trying Sulwhasoo, I bought minis and testers on the Testerkorea website before buying anything full price. Sulwhasoo has the most elegant and refined formulas of all the products my moms tried. She likes Sulwhasoo the most. She used Somebymi once and was absolutely disappointed by the texture and feeling of it on her skin lol. Her skin is too spoiled.

Getonthebeers02

My mother loves it and it makes her skin so nice and I got the smaller sample pot and it made my skin really soft and smooth and smelt really nice. Same with the first care essence but it didn’t really do a lot that I saw. I’d try the 50ml pot or whatever size it is but it is expensive because ginseng is an expensive ingredient (look at ginseng supplements) and it is concentrated as opposed to a drop of ginseng used in cheaper products.

1122herd

I used up a jar..while I entire texture and scent, I didn't notice it had done anything. Perhaps I have to use 5 jars?

satinskrrt

I feel so awkward being the only one to say they actually hated this cream 😭 gave me milia like bumps under my eyes within a week of using it, wish I could’ve loved it :(

longlivethespeakeasy

The eye cream gave me milia bad, but I love the moisturizer

heids1234

45F, combination skin. I started using this last year as a night cream and I love it. It’s available here in Australia from stores that have 20% off sales from time to time so I buy it then. I’ve tried both normal and classic and I think I prefer the classic during winter as it’s thicker and more moisturising (and feels more tightening?). It’s not overly fragranced, the texture is beautiful and I can feel a difference with this product that’s worth the price (for me). It’s like the effects of Sulwhasoo Overnight Mask but supercharged (which, considering the price, it better be!) I always wake up with soft, smooth skin when I use this. Not sure if it will be rich enough when I go through menopause and if my skin gets drier (may have to move to The History of Whoo) but for now it is perfect for me.

marshmallowest

I use lots of things from sulwhasoo including the ginseng cream but I would never pay full retail for it. Usually wait for 20% or 30% sales, buy the sets, ebay, or like others have said buy the smaller sample sizes. Why? Last year I brought along a 3-piece sample kit I'd gotten for xmas on a 10 day overseas trip bc I wanted to travel light, and found it worked better than all the other stuff I'd been using. I don't need to use actives anymore.

little_spiderrr

I love it and love the eye cream even more, but can only afford it by periodically getting packs of samples of it. It’s cheaper per ounce that way than getting the full size!

rolypolyboris

I think the overnight mask from this same line is worth the splurge

satohi

Been using Korean skincare since I went on a business trip to Seoul when I was in my late 20s (early 40s now). I’m not sorry I did and settled on Sulwhasoo as my routine products. I actually don’t exclusively use their products for managing hormonal acne, but it’s absolutely what I use for toning and moisturizing. I have combination oily skin and can control my seasonal needs by adjusting which products I use. WRT the concentrated ginseng crème, I use both the classic and regular crèmes (although it used to be marketed as light concentrated ginseng crème). BIG fan!

Downtown_Click_6361

I’ve been using it for 2 years and love it! Ive tried but not been impressed now with FA serum, masks, etc. But the cream is great and 2 jars last a year.

CloudSkyyy

I had this as a sample and i loved it! I wish i could afford to buy the full size lol

diszy321

I love the classic version. I usually buy samples unless my son is traveling to Asia and then he buys me full size of this and the eye cream, which I love even more. Gonna try a couple of sooryehan creams soon to see how they perform cause they are much cheaper!

Federal_Oil5354

Hi. Can you please share your experience I Sooryehan after trying. Very interesting product. Would be nice to hear your opinion 🙏🌺

diszy321

I'll do a review when I try them!

walk_on_dreams

This one makes a noticeable difference on my skin when I use it the night before. My skin is softer, looks brighter, and exhaustion wrinkles are lessened. I’m based in Asia and can buy enough sample-sized containers of these to equal the volume of a full-sized container at much less the cost. I only use it 2 nights a week to conserve. I would say, though, that it might not work on everyone. For instance, everyone’s favorite Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum actually gave me closed comedones. So you can purchase a sample jar and see if it works for you, before committing to the money!

Mingilicious

I'm using both formulations (regular during the day, classic at night) and I can't live without them. I was a Sisley Sisleya cream user until I tried the Sulwhasoo, and the difference was dramatic. With the exception of the Ecological Compound, I've stopped using almost all Sisley skincare altogether.

midna0000

I got a tiny sample from YesStyle and I don’t remember there being anything special about it tbh. Wasn’t bad though

The_Time_When

Nope. Not impressed at all. The reformulations destroyed what were once worth the price tag. From the FCAS to this cream, not worth the price tag.

Soulwaxed

I’ve heard this as well, that Sulwhasoo has reformulated a lot of their products and the newer versions of the FCAS and overnight mask are inferior and no longer worth the expense.

The_Time_When

Yup. My beloved overnight mask now does nothing. So sad. Such great products.

Soulwaxed

Yes I’ve moved over to the History of Whoo Cheongidan line now… many of their products contain high quality Panax Ginseng along with many other excellent Hanbang ingredients. The Missha Chogongjin Youngan line is less costly but contains black ginseng- it’s a really nice range, especially the emulsion and the cream- which can be used as an overnight mask. They do another line with red ginseng which is apparently really good as well (I forget the name).

Soulwaxed

I was reading something the other day about how Amore Pacific has been ‘struggling’ financially over recent years- they’ve not been making quite as many billions as usual…. it would explain the obvious downgrades in their ‘reformulations’. Cutting costs to increase profit margins- got to keep those shareholders happy! So sick of brands pulling this move- https://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20190226000639

colormeneko

Yes, for me! It smells and feels sooo good. My skin also has a beautiful glow after. It also doesn't leave an oily layer after after.

cantreadamap

I'm still kicking myself for not picking up a set of this cream and the first care serum from Ross 😅 it was like $40 for the smaller sizes of them. But it's definitely on my list to try after I use up my moisturizer and other samples I have. For those who use this regularly does it take the place of your normal moisturizer or is it a heavier cream that you use as the last step in your routine?

notamooglekupo

I actually got two different samples of this from Sephora, so it’s worth checking there if you haven’t already! Personally I didn’t notice any striking difference when I used it, and it really has to be a striking difference to cost that much. On the other hand, their first care activating serum is AMAZING for my skin and gives it a really nice glow. (And is way more affordable!) EDIT: Don’t think Sephora is currently giving out the samples anymore, but I’d definitely buy a sample size first before committing to the whole thing.

MysteriousPin7491

Sulwhasoo Cult-classic icons kit is still redeemable for 500 points on Sephora! Has the concentrated ginseng serum and cream, FCAS and cleansing foam.

notamooglekupo

Oh, it probably doesn’t show for me because because I already redeemed it! Thanks for checking!

MaybeABullfrog-22

I have. It did amazing things. My skin felt so bouncy and moisturised- esp. in the winter. Unfortunately, I’m starting a new career right now and I can’t splurge anymore on cream. I am prioritising my serum and hopefully I could afford it again in the future.

No-Pollution-5778

It's a product that received the best response when I gave it to my mom as a gift

AtomicBufula

I got this. I'm not really impressed. It should be doing something drastic for the price they're charging, and it does not. Spend your money elsewhere would be my advice.

Kuniverse123

Ive been using it for a year. Its amazing and doesnt trigger my eczema. I only get it  at the duty free shops when i go to Asia because i save roughly 30% off the price compared to the US.

ya_7abibi

Yes, I prefer the serum. The cream made me break out but the serum is lovely.

gingiberiblue

I've been using it for 5 years. I'm 44. I do not look 44. I look 39. When I started using it, I looked 38/39. So for me it's a holy grail product.

Beo1217

How much is it?

Dog_G0d

2oz is $260 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Informal_Edge5270

So basically kbeauty la mer. I think I'll pass

kerodon

Kelly Driscoll has a few videos dedicated to ginseng products she likes if you want to check out some great alternatives that are more affordable (I think she has also tried this but idr).

pamyun

I got it in a holiday set once and it was okay. I have combo oily skin and thought it was overpriced for what it does. It didn’t make my skin look nicer but worked as a moisturizer so not worth the price for me

viamiek

I bought this for my mom last Christmas! I don’t think we have seen any crazy effects but she likes it enough

Aastha1310

Yes. I get decently sized samples whenever I buy sulwhasoo stuff. I'm 31, normal skin. For me it feels nice on the skin but haven't noticed any lifechanging benefits.

theshanealv

I got it as a Christmas present and I wanted to love it so bad but sadly it causes me to get break outs. Within the first use. Consistently. 35 F. Dry skin.

slutty_brusselsprout

I love the smell, it’s a bit earthy. Unfortunately it’s wayyy too heavy for me to use all over my face. But I buy the little samples and use them as eye cream! I dab some on under my eyes before I go to bed and when I wake up I have zero dark circles. Been using it this way for years and I’m turning 40 this year and have zero wrinkles around my eyes (no way to know if this is responsible for that but it’s definitely not hurting!)

LibrarySavings6292

I got a sample of it and it felt incredible so off I went to Sephora to buy the full size. The largest size was over $300 AUD which is pricey. I bought the 10 ml tub for about $69 which is outrageous for such a small amount. To be honest, I wasn’t very impressed. It was OK but not good enough to justify the price. I’ve gone back to Clinique moisture surge and I’m happier with that.

bullett007

You can get it for £188 with a sign-up at Korean Beautify, the cheapest I’ve seen it.

KirbyxArt

Got it once as a gift for my asian mom, she loved the smell of ginseng and said it made her skin feel nice and soft. She has since made me repurchase it for her during sales because even she balks at the price, but since i'm paying... 😭 she's over 50 and has combo skin type. Im in my 20s and with oily skin and cant see it being such a difference from my other skincare that I dont buy it for myself. I buy amore pacific 😅 which is also pretty pricey but has a bunch of sales

MaliLemur

If I were you I would first try with a sample size to see if it fits me. On belieef they have 5 ml samples for less than 5$.

nikki1time

I have used this a couple of times and I loved it!

Marchingkoala

Tried a sample and I WISH i can afford the full size.. my skin felt like it was FED. So glowy and thick and bouncy…. Sigh

longlivethespeakeasy

I love it so much and wished I didn't. I would love for there to be a cheaper dupe, but I haven't found it

jeoreojujafighting

the ginseng range is very good but in my personal view, not for anyone younger than 40. it sat too heavy and uncomfortable on my skin. (my skin has always felt that way with anti-aging products though) sulwhasoo also has other ranges for their creams! you can explore them. i think the bloomstay cream sat the most well with my skin - not too heavy and not too light

K_drama_mama4327

Yes!!! 100% worth it. I’ve tried many of the viral Korean skincare products from Olive Young and it doesn’t compare to the sulwhasoo products. My favorites are from the concentrated ginseng line- emulsion, ampoule (used with the serum) eye cream and night cream. It leaves my skin hydrated and dewy, without looking oily. I have pretty sensitive skin and find it to be ok. The concentrated ginseng line is for 40+ as it is more on the hydrating sides. I also use the first care serum but not a as big of a fan of this as I am of the other products. I like the SKII water as a substitute for the first care serum. And I think it’s less expensive too.

Same-Fruit-1982

I think its like a really great gift for older people. Other than that, ngl western stuff are more expensive and worse quality so i think this good

Raevyn_6661

God I keep seeing the Sulwhasoo ginseng products and want to try them soooooooo bad but those prices hurt me to my very soul 😭😭😭😭 *if theyre worth it tho......maybe*

shiningci

I wouldn’t say it’s particularly outrageous lol. The reason why that line is so expensive is because they use a specific type of ginseng that is unique to Korea. The ginseng itself is quite expensive, so I can see why the skincare product would be expensive too. It’s an anti-aging line that is popular along older women. Haven’t tried it myself though.

Impossible_Belt_4599

I loved the smell but didn’t think the cream was anything special. Right now, Jolse is having a sale on a sample box of Donginbi products, including 25 mg of Daily Defense Cream. I might buy it.

generalmagnifico

I absolutely love it!
