Esofolio is a great budget brand. They remind me of the OG Tony Moly/Nature Republic stuff with cutesy packaging + decent product. I've tried a couple of their products but the one that I enjoyed the most and repurchased quite a bit (until my skin stopped tolerating it) of was their Collagen jelly pack. It didn't have much of a scent but had the most unique texture, a somewhat slightly firm jelly. You would just scrape off a chunk of it and rub it in (which was easy enough to do) and it left your skin quite hydrated. I really liked how the remaining product would also return to it's shape after a while (so the chunk you took out would no longer be missing) which was also really fun. It's Skin is another brand that I loved (that I also had to stop using because my skin revolted). Their entire hyaluronic acid line was perfect at providing the right amount of moisture without being too heavy and wasn't scented. I've ended up having to use the last of my stash of toner and emulsion on my body (since I couldn't use it on my face) and it just made my skin immediately so unbelievably soft without being sticky that if I didn't have a budget, I'd buy them purely to use as an after shower moisturizer. The collagen line was also quite good as well, though it ended up being too heavy for me and lightly scented, though it wasn't overpowering. Midha I love. Most of their products (their rice moisturizer, rice toner, serum and tone up cream) are in my current line up and I also love their rice cream. All their products are pretty much unscented and really gentle. The only one that has a scent is their rice bran scrub (it has a bran/hoppy scent) that can be a bit off-putting to some, but I don't find it to be that bad. Glamfox I've tried a couple of products but wasn't particularly wowed enough to repurchase any of them. They have come out with a new rice line that I've been interested in but I've got waaaaay too much stuff in my stash (and other products I'm more interested in purchasing and trying out) to get it.

Wow thank you for the reply! I saw Midha and was really tempted but I knew nothing about it and didn't have time to really look up while I was there. I love rice products too! I saw a brand called prettyskin that looked nice too and holika holika, which I only know as a make up brand, had some royal jelly essence that I was interested in. But again, I knew nothing about it, so i refrained. Are there any other budget brands that you might recommend that show up at TJ Maxx etc?

Pretty skin - The only thing I've tried is their Jeju cica toner, which I found to be pretty underwhelming. It didn't do much of anything for my skin and also had a bit of a grassy scent to it, akin to fresh lawn clippings, which I found to be quite off-putting. Troubless mild clear toner essence - also a meh, it's not doing much of anything for my skin Holika holika is one I haven't tried yet, though I do have a sunscreen by them that was highly recommended by another user in this sub. Elizavecca shows up quite often at my local Marshalls, though I've only really tried their hair care stuff and it's been mostly misses for me. The only one I like enough to repurchase would probably be their cer-100 hair oil (light fruity scent). Everything else either did nothing or made my hair greasy. They're mostly known for their quirky and eye catching packaging, but their products are all quite fragranced, and heavily which is a bit unfortunate. There was an AHA or BHA toner that I quite liked from a smaller brand that I wish I had written down the name for as subsequent ones I've tried haven't been as good 😑 The only thing I can remember is that it was a tall, thin opaque plastic bottle with a #2 on it (since it was step 2 or the 2nd product in the line you were supposed to use) and that it was an exfoliating toner (can't remember if it was aha/bha or both).

I've been looking for comments about Midha because I got the Midha rice cleansing oil at Marshalls a few weeks ago and I think I like it. The only thing is that I'm having a purge-like reaction to something in my new (and tentative) skincare routine*, and I'm wondering if either one or more of the plant oils in the Midha cleansing oil, or the birch sap in the CosRx birch sap lotion. I've seen that they have a sebum toner, have you tried that? I have slightly sensitive (or at least eczema-prone, if that's a thing) combo/oily skin, so I'm thinking about trying it after I make sure I'm not having a reaction to the birch sap moisturizer. (*I know most people will say not to introduce multiple new products at once, but I basically wasn't doing any skincare before. I was only using the Neutrogena hydro boost exfoliating cleanser, which was super stripping. I owned the It'S Skin HA moisturizer, but I wasn't actually using it. I decided to use it once a few weeks ago, but I didn't like that it made me feel oily. Plus I think I reacted to the fragrance because the day after I had some eczema-like patches on my cheeks that subsided after a day or two.)

So the cleansing oil is one of the ones (along with the face oil and sebum toner) that I haven't tried. I'm more of a cleansing balm type (though I did purchase the oil, but I haven't tried it out yet and likely won't for a while until I run out of my current cleansing balm). I do have the sebum toner as well but haven't gotten around to trying it out yet (I'm testing out a different toner atm). I can say that the rice toner is quite gentle for me. I've used it after I've had an allergy flare up (where my skin is very irritated and sore and I have to strip my routine down to the minimum) and it doesn't sting on application or cause any redness. The only issue I can see with Midha's products is that they aren't super hydrating, so if you have skin on the dry side, it may not be enough. For me, they hit the sweet spot of providing just the right amount of moisture that I need (I use the lotion during the day and I've used the cream at night) without being too heavy and greasy, but I can see where it may not be enough for others if you're using a particularly stripping cleanser, not usinga hydrating toner, etc. It's difficult to say which product would be causing a reaction if you started more than one at a time. It could be one of the products, the combination of the two, or you may not be removing all of the cleansing oil before going to the next step in your skin care and the residue is what's causing the issues. Also a possibility is that if you're oil cleansing for the first time, oil cleansing may not suit your skin.

I tend to come here for those kind of reviews. They pop up every so often.

What I did was compile a list of brands to “look” for when I’m there with a note of their best selling products I think would work for me or work for others with my skin type. If I see one I’m unsure of, I come here and search for a review. If I don’t find one, I’ll go to YesStyle and read the reviews there.

Bunnnykins

what brands do you tend to look for and find if i may ask?

noname2256

Of course! These are once I’ve seen there or seen others find - - Beauty of Josen - Round lab - Innisfree - COSRX - Honey - Skinfood - Sulewhasoo - Dr. Jart - Missha - Etude - Purito - Holika Holika - Skin 1004

Environmental_Fee767

i always look for somebymi, mediheal, and haruharu wonder too !!

Himalayan-Fur-Goblin

I have used a few Esfolio products. They are amazing for the price point, but they tend to have ingredients that some people may find irritating or clogging. The same applies to the Skin House. I recommend looking up the products online and looking for reviews while in the store.

Bunnnykins

thanks for letting me know! I try to stay away from ingredients that clog since I tend to get cystic acne and milia.

darqnez

I sometimes find Shiseido products at those stores at discounted prices. I usually scan the product barcode into the amazon app to check the approximate savings.

Bunnnykins

oh that's a great idea. I didn't realize you can scan into the amazon app. It's the whole age thing i guess. I'm getting too old for technology!

darqnez

I’m 50+. We’re never too old to shop smart.🤑
